Great place to grab a coffee which was top notch! Grabbed some food and chill when a mini snow storm hits! No concern we got the famous omelette and a few other items from the specials board, loved it and so did our baby! Amazing atmosphere and friendly staff.

Truly a must-visit café in Tromso! The coffee was amazing—rich, aromatic, and perfectly brewed. The coffee art was so creative and cute that it put a smile on my face. I also tried the pytt, which was original and absolutely delicious—a fantastic breakfast option. The dish featured a hearty mix of diced potatoes and meat, all topped with a fried egg, making it both satisfying and flavorful. This café is definitely worth a visit!

Food was good, only a few options. I got the omelette with the walnuts. It was good but very different. It was super sweet because of the honey. I would get it again though. It was a good portion, came with butter, toast, and a small cabbage and pickle salad. I got a side of sausage and bacon. The sausage was delicious. The bacon was good, very fatty. The place was cute but not enough seating. Pretty latte art, everyone’s was different.

Best coffee I had in Tromso ! A bit chaotic on my first 2 visits. Took 35 minutes just to order, despite only 9 people in front of me, because the staff kept walking away from the till to talk to the chef in the back or to chat with the baristas. 😔 however, the cinnamon buns are amazing — especially hot !! And the cafe itself is very cute. You can tell the baristas love their coffee !

We ordered two hot chocolates, an omelet, and a plate with potatoes, sausage, and eggs—everything was flavorful and perfectly prepared. 😍 The place has a charming vintage vibe, making you feel cozy as soon as you step inside. A little tip: come early if you want a seat, as it gets busy quickly. An amazing experience, I highly recommend it! 🤩

This place is absolutely delicious and the coffee is quality. It oftentimes gets crowded but worth the wait. There is seating within and they will deliver your beverage and/or food to your table. Their croissants were divine, we got the chocolate croissant and the flakey, buttery goodness stuffed with Nutella was a lovely surprise. The mocha was like silk and not too sweet as it was light with a hint of chocolate. Beautifully crafted. We watched them make a hot chocolate and i almost ordered one it looked so good. They take their latte art seriously here :)

I was enticed here by the very high reviews! The goat cheese sandwich really wasn't what I was hoping for. I had a different mental picture in my head of melted cheese and some kind of dressing. That being said, this sandwich was good. It could use some kind of sauce/ dressing though. Cute little kaffe.

We came for coffee which was good! Didn't stay for breakfast but we did see they had a small menu. It was my favorite place we got coffee from in Tromso. Heard good things about the food so I think it would be worth trying.

The staff here is not only friendly but very skilled. They served me a delicious work of art. Their bunny cappuccino is the most impressive latte art I have had the pleasure of tasting.

I was in town for the Midnight Sun Marathon, and stopped by to get some coffee and a quick bite. The place was quite packed, and there was a long line. - Good Coffee - Good Food (small selection, but enough for variety) - Cute spot - Free WiFi I think you're supposed to find a seat first before ordering. Then you tell the cashier where you're sitting and they bring you the food/coffee.

Pretty good cafe compared to the other ones in this area. I would come back again but honestly it all comes down to location with most of these cafes since they are kinda taste similar. This cafe had more breakfakst foods than most though if you're into that.

Had breakfast here. Not too crowded, great omelet, croissant and coffee. Staff were very nice and it's right in front of the Radisson. They also serve breakfast early which the other Rico location does not (9am)

They say this is the best cafe in tromso, and Tripadvisor rates it as #1 cafe in town, and they are not wrong. Great atmosphere, lovely coffee and food, quant setting, and reasonably priced. Was there to avoid the snow storm and easily ended up spending hours there, and cake after cake, coffee after coffee.

Excellent spot for delicious coffee and a bite of breakfast. The baristas are exceptionally knowledgeable and very helpful when selecting the perfect cup of coffee.

I am not a fan of their coffee or at least the one recommended to us by the barista but their omelette is out if this world. Smooth and buttery....if only I can get this omelette back home. Other breakfast items look equally scrumptious, so yes...this is D place for breakfast in Tromso. The cafe caters to gluten free diner as well so if you have any food allergies, please let them know. Seats are hard to get during breakfast hours so come early. The place is tiny but cozy. Order up front at the counter and they bring your food and coffee to you.

So, we literally came here every single day we were in Tromso, which should tell you right off the bat how great it is. On the second day, the baristas already knew our order and welcomed us with a smile-- amazing service (especially since we are dumb Americans who can't even passingly read Norwegian and needed help with our initial orders). The coffee is phenomenal. Seriously. We had cappuccinos and lattes, both of which were delicious and totally adorable (their barista won some fancy latte art decorating contest and I can see why!). The omelettes are fantastic, but so are the cinnamon buns and croissants. But what makes Riso so amazing is the service and ambiance. It's *cold* up in the Arctic, so Riso is a welcoming home base to start your mornings-- warm, lots of comfy seating, and friendly faces.

Mat means food and here it is really satisfying! Saved me from believing I wouldn't have a good meal in Tromso ! I was surprised by the beautifully prepared and just as delicious omelette ! The barista handcrafted my mocha to perfection! So many machines around here it was refreshing to watch him delicately teaspoon in the sugar, the cocoa, and whisk! Also if you need an alternative to milk they offer oat which thankfully seems the standard alternative. Take note US!

This spot is ridiculously delicious and I love the coffee! I only had one week in town, and I kept returning! I had the cinnamon rolls each time - and they tasted different each time. The sandwiches were perfection and everything was fresh. including the most incredible bread! And the coffee - pour over and tried all the flavors. Can't wait to be back! Plus the team is friendly and helpful.

Best in Tromso! I came here for brunch today. Order the breakfast. Came with chopped bacon, onion, and egg. Served with bread. The flavors are amazing! I even had one of the cinnamon rolls. So good. If you're visiting or live here. This is a must.

We came here after reading the good reviews and we weren't disappointed. We got the omelette which had goat cheese, walnuts, and honey - delicious and unlike any omelette I've ever had. We also got the breakfast that came with bacon, onion, and eggs which was very good. We decided to start with a cinnamon roll since it seemed like everyone in the cafe was eating one. It was warm, gooey, and delicious! Stop here for a great breakfast!

The goat cheese omelette here is phenomenal; I had one for breakfast every morning on my 3-day trip to Tromsø and want to go back just for this omelette! The eggs are somehow both fluffy and firm, the goat cheese is perfectly melted but not runny, and the drizzle of honey with walnuts on top adds an extra dimension of flavor. The bread it's served with is also unreal: soft and airy with an excellent bite. They serve a range of high-quality filtered coffee and espresso drinks, and the staff are all friendly despite being quite busy most of the morning. A great start to your day in Tromsø!

Riso Mat & Kaffeebar serves good coffee and cinamon rolls :) It wasn't easy to find a comfortable cafe in the city. What I was missing was some more light and windows in all the cafes, especially at the harbor during daytime. Prices were ok here.

The reviews don't lie. This is a really great coffee shop! My boyfriend and I came here for coffee every day when we were staying in Tromsø. We would share a carafe of coffee made with the Chemex with a different roast everyday. The Rwandan was my favorite - a smooth darker roast. And the cinnamon rolls were absolutely delicious and freshly made.

Stopped into Risø Mat & Kaffebar for a light lunch on our first day in Tromsø. Risø seems pretty popular with both locals and tourists (although there seemed to be quite a lot of tourists), and for good reason. The food and coffee are delicious. Feeding time: - Latte - Mocha - Apple cake with cream - Soup of the day (mushroom) - Smoked halibut sandwich Risø was pretty full when we came in around 13:00 on a Friday afternoon. It stayed busy the entire time we were there with a constant flow of people coming in and out. Don't be afraid to ask to share a table. I wanted something sweet so I asked for a recommendation. I was led to either cheesecake or apple cake warmed up with cream. I went with apple cake and it was delicious. The cake was moist and not too sweet. My friend opted for lunch. The soup of the day was some sort of creamy mushroom deal and it was delicious. The smoked halibut sandwich had pickled beet, pickled onion, mascarpone (?), lettuce, and the smoked halibut. The bread was a grain bread and was very good. I would definitely come back here for a nice afternoon snack or a good cup of coffee.

A total must to visit if you are ever in Tromsø, Norway.. its a quaint little cafe in a quaint little town with friendly people.. i came for Bfast as it is my most fave meal of the day and oh my oh my .. the focaccia is out of this world and the fresh croissant ... i had bacon potato w eggs .. And - here is another wooohooo .. this place won the "world latte art championship" Bravo ... not only my cafe moca taste good, it look beautiful

Let this be you're last review you read and start your trip in Tromso here! It was my first and last breakfast in Tromso and they were both wonderful. Great selection of coffee from all around the world and delicious food on their small menu of 4 handcrafted items! Cinnamon rolls are amazing!

A beautiful little place in Tromso town center. The coffee was excellent. I loved the cappuccino and the cortado. It was just the right size, not the oversized tasteless venti we get in Starbucks. The food was lovely. I tried their omelet with goat cheese, walnut and honey. Sadly I haven't been able to reproduce that at home. Went there every day during my short trip to Tromso. Would definitely go back if I ever visit Tromso again.

This is the only place I went to twice. The cappuccino, latte, and americano were stellar. They are open early and the ambiance and service is very welcoming. The omelette and assortment of sandwiches are delicious. Highly recommend.

Not sure whether it is the weather conditions that encourage those kind of places to open but I was really impressed by the amount of cozy spots to eat in Tromsö. As in most places we have tried during our stay, we loved the settings, the music, the sphere, the food and the drinks at Riso. The staff is often very friendly and doesn't rush you. Wifi is always available everywhere. You really feel like staying inside for ages, which we did. We started with a nice lunch, a delicious soup and some omelettes and of course finished with hot chocolates and desserts, cinnamon rolls this time. People kept entering and leaving, you can tell it is a very popular place to hang out. Definitely recommended!

Best coffee in Tromsø. They Change their menu once in a while, but I can always find something I like. And the staff is super friendly and efficient, which is good because this is one of the most popular places in town.

Love the friendliness of the staff and the cozy environment for a breakfast. The milk on the latte made my day when the weather here was terrible. Croissant and the sandwiches were delicious.

This place was amazing!! Had the special of the day which was reindeer sausage. It came on mashed potatoes. It was a ton of food & delicious. I also had the coffee cake(tiramisu) that was delicious & traditional. Would recommend.

Amazing coffee shop! Excellent quality coffee and the sandwiches (both breakfast and lunch) are delicious! They make the bread homemade and put take extra care in the preparation. The coffee tastes very good, and the staff is very friendly! Great location... A few minute walk from most of the main hotels.

Glutenfree bread for every sandwich. Just ask and you shall recieve. Always so wonderful to find a place that offers a glutenfree alternativ.

Great coffee and finally: some proper breakfast. Whoever is like us desperate for something other than smørbrød will not be disappointed. We had the pytt-i-panne and omelette, they both were delicious. Would love to come back if we ever happen to end up in Tromsø again.

Superb coffee, good breakfast, and friendly service made this one of my favorite breakfast places on our recent travels. The focus here is on the coffee, which was fantastic, but the food we tried was all quite good as well. This isn't a huge restaurant with a giant menu, but they do have a small selection of omlettes and baked goods for breakfast. The omelette with goat cheese, walnuts, and honey sounded interesting and tasted delicious. We weren't sure how honey on an omelette would work, but between the goat cheese and walnuts, it just added a little sweetness without being too much. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the (famed?) cinnamon buns when we got there, but they were making more, so we nursed our drinks until they came out of the oven, and I was glad that we did! They are smaller than the abominations at Cinnabon, and less smothered in sugar, but were moist and delicious. I'd happily have eaten two or three if I'd had the space in my stomach. If we'd been in Tromso for more that one day, we'd absolutely have come back again.

The guys there are very nice. They translated the Norwegian menu for us. An excellent place for breakfast, lunch and afternoon coffee. I suggest who arrives Tromso living nearby must go to and experience. I like it!

Great coffee, yummy cakes, and not too expensive! The service is leaned back, but the staff is attentive and friendly. Try to notice the small sayings and quotes on the walls, the roof or the bucket hanging by the counter - the last one giving you the wifi-info.

Wonderful guys working here, excellent chef, the best coffees, excellent sandwiches and fish when on the menu. Free wifi fast. You won't want to leave. Like other reviewers, I came back after traveling. Wish I had this place back home!!
