So delicious we had dinner here twice. The house wines are great & the service is friendly. No misses, but special mentions for the sorbetto, the pasta with pistachios, & my absolute favourite (not pictured) the pasta with zucchini.

Google
Palate Delight! The place where I embarked on my Sicilian food journey, I couldn't have chosen a higher standard restaurant to have my first meal in Sicily. The food is fresh, delicious & the portions are large. I highly recommend not missing this place during your visit to Catania.

This is a great family run restaurant which made it really feel like home. Staff were great hosts and food was very enjoyable. Prices are outstanding would recommend to anyone!

Lovely place for really tasty food. We went back for a second night we enjoyed it so much. The service was fantastic. The sardine appetizer was especially good. But really, everything we tried was well worth it.

Google
Great fresh tasty food at a very reasonable price and close to city centers. Nice and cozy atmosphere. Very nice service. We had an octopus salad, 2 pasta dishes and 1 meat dish (scalopini) for less than 50e total. All delicious. Tip: book a table where possible as it might be full (we phoned to get a table the same day, but once theren saw a few people trying to get one unsuccessfully)

This restaurant had some of the best pasta we had in our time in Sicily. We really wanted to try the Pasta alla Norma, and they did not disappoint! The food and drinks were delicious and fairly priced. The atmosphere was great with a beautiful view of the castle and the service was great. The free bread was a nice touch also.

We came here based on the good reviews, but we were disappointed. We ordered two pasta dishes that were below average: bland, unsalted, and with very small portions. We had to get an arancino elsewhere afterward because we were still hungry. The atmosphere was nothing special, and the worst part was that they charged 6 EUR for the service. I travel a lot, but I’ve never seen anything like this. What’s next? Paying extra for the gas the waiter spent to get to the workplace? The service fee makes up over 20% of the total bill for nothing.

Google
An amazing place! Must visit if you're looking for a delicious local food! This is the place where locals eat! Found it while looking for the best Pasta alla norma - a Catanian pasta dish. And I found my gem! We took two starters, two pasta dishes and a house wine. Octopus salad (you need to ask waiter if it's available) was a perfect, fresh and tasty. Also we decided to try Sardines Beccafico - also Sicilian dish (butterflied sardines stuffed with a mix of breadcrumbs, pine nuts, raisins and herbs). Nice flavour and so good. For the main I wanted to try Pasta all norma - delicious Sicilian pasta made with tender eggplant and tossed in a herby tomato sauce and a sprinkle of ricotta salata cheese. I think it's the best in Catania! Other pasta was papardelle in parchment - best ever seafood pasta! Also suggested this place to our friend who visited Catania a few days later and he also was impressed and happy! Thank you for your delicious food and good service!

Yelp
Outside. Beautiful. Table clothes. Very nice and kind service. Food came out quickly, almost too quick. Didn't care for any of the food. We had two apps and left. Wine was ok they brought out two different bottles to try, place is now packed. Try at your own risk. Not my favorite here. Doris approved 3.5 stars. The whole meal everything pictured was 22.00euro Everyone else cleaned their plates so maybe we didn't pick the right meals.

Yelp
Yum! My friend and I split a fennel salad and the pasta alla norma! Everything was simple yet delicious and packed with flavor!

Yelp
Delayed flight, transfer to the hotel (which confusingly had a high name similarity to several others, such that we initially went wrong), and in the end, it was about 10 pm before we could go hunting for food. Is that a problem. It would be in the US, but in Italy, nessun problema! We walked through the narrow and still very crowded streets of the center around the Dome. The trattoria di Antonio was packed (with mostly Italian guests), but Antonio just created an extra table to seat us. What else would you expect from Italy than having delicious food? And so it was: Antipasto siciliano, octopus salad, rigatoni and risotto pescatorio were all perfect - paired with the warm outdoor seating and the so charming attitude of the Italian staff. Bookmarked for return!

Yelp
Good food and spectacular service; very patient with our poor Italian. Wine was excellent.

Yelp
As one of the top-rated restaurants in Catania, we landed on Trattorria Da Antonio for our final Sicilian meal of the trip. Their menu, while all in English, does have a nice sampling of dishes on it, including many with seafood influences. I was craving spaghetti carbonara that night and Antonio said it'd be no problem to make it. There was a wait when we arrived, but after maybe 20 minutes or so, we were seated outdoors in their patio section. Our server was nice, but seemed annoyed that I wanted to select a dish that wasn't even Sicilian (it's Roman). Nonetheless, it arrived and my tablemates were fans of it. I found it a bit too creamy and not traditional, but it was still good. Such a hearty portion too. While this eatery was good, it wasn't incredible, and this was one of my least favorite meals. Perhaps I would have fared better if I ordered from one of their signature items. That's probably my fault. I was, however, a fan of their wine. That stuff was too easy to drink!

Yelp
Nice little place right by the castle in the center of Catania. We went for dinner based on the recommendations I found on TripAdvisor. No language barrier whatsoever and good food. We started with bruschetta, a dish that was not on the menu but which they managed to ship up for us anyway. Delicious! We also had an appetizer listed as "raw and mozzarella" that turned out to be cured ham and fresh mozzarella. Also good and plentiful for an appetizer. I went with our waiter's recommendation and had their paperdeli pasta with seafood. They heaped a nice pile of squid, shrimp, clams and mussels on a pile of wide noodles and topped the plate with tomato sauce. The seafood was delicious but I think Italians have a differing opinion on how pasta should be cooked as I've found it a bit tough each time I've ordered it on this trip. This meal was no exception. It's their country and their cuisine so I suppose the right answer is to either adapt to their cooking, order differently or go home. The seafood was exceptionally good and tasted so fresh that I knew it was the right choice as soon as I unwrapped my meal...that's right, it showed up all wrapped up in aluminum foil and piping hot. We walked across the street for gelato after dinner...but that's another review.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my meal here! I had the best Pasta alla Norma I've ever had here (this is something I order everywhere) and Sardines Beccafico. I loved Catania and if I had more time, I would have eaten here again. It was a perfect meal and the service was very good too.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals had during my almost week in Sicily. We came for lunch, apparently very early by Sicilian standards, and were immediately shown to a table on the terrace. We don't speak enough Italian to discuss our tastes in wine, and luckily the owner (Im not sure he was, but he seemed like it) spoke to us in english and french so we were able to choose our wine and he answered all of our questions about the menu. One friend and I ordered the pasta alla Norma, the third chose the pasta with clams. Our food was great. I'm not a huge eggplant fan, but wanted to try a local dish and the eggplant in my pasta was delicious. Lightly fried and covered in cheese (it didn't make me an eggplant convert, but I'm trying). The pasta itself was perfect and the sauce was great. The friend who had clams really enjoyed her dish as well. Overall, this was a great spot to grab lunch in Catania with really friendly service.

Yelp
I have been living in the apartment above this little restaurant for a few weeks now. We finally went there for dinner two nights ago and it was lovely! Very local food - with a splash of finesse. I had a pasta over pureed pumpkin that was delicious. We had a Syrah that was delicious - wish I'd gotten the winery but I didn't. Also - great ambiance. Nice old photos of Catania and beautiful interior. Gets busy though - maybe 10 tables. The host and the servers speak some English. They said they take credit cards but when we gave them ours, they said there was trouble with it so we paid in cash. Later we used the card. Maybe there had been trouble or maybe they would rather have cash. Not sure.

Yelp
We were very excited to go eat there, having read all the wonderful reviews. The staff was welcoming and the starters were fine (not nearly as good as described here). We ordered two main dishes, one of which was okay and the other inedible. It was sitting on the table untouched while we ordered an alternative. The waiters simply ignored the fact that one of us was not eating. Eventually the manager came to ask if everything was okay, that's when one of the waiters jumped out and explained she was aware of the situation and that we ordered something else instead. He took the untouched dish and we received the alternative. When receiving the bill we were surprised to find out that we were charged for the untouched dish and we paid and left. The food here is average and the prices are not expensive but we ate at places that were way better and way cheaper here in Catnia.

Yelp
I'd first like to say... Such gracious and welcoming staff! I was reading in my Lonely Planet book that this trattoria was the one to dine in if I were in Catania. They usually require reservations, but the staff were able to accommodate my family, a party of four, in the late evening. There were a lot of people dining there that night, so it was a bit hard to find parking within the plaza. The food contained mainly seafood. It was all fresh! The shrimp was succulent and so were the shellfish. The white wine went well with the food. The restaurant felt very homey. I left my sunglasses by accident that night. I called the next evening and they still had it. They returned it to me that night. I am so grateful for them keeping it safe!

Yelp
We stayed in Catania for two days and our bed and breakfast was located next to this place. Our host recommended it and we followed his advise and don't have any regrets :) During the 5 day trip, we actually went here twice because the food (and atmosphere) is just great! The owner of the place is very helpful. If you do have any requests outside of the menu that is not a problem. If they have it, they can make it right away for you. If you want to be sure, you can actually tell him your request the day before and he will try to accommodate it the next day! The owner is also very funny ;) When my wife ordered a smaller portion of one of the dishes and he came to our table with it she was asking "That is small?". He was acting offended and asked whether she thought it was too small. Actually was not small it all, but still a very large portion :) Next time we are in Catania, we for sure will be paying another (probably multiple) visit to this place!

Yelp
This is a fine restaurant, and it gets tremendous reviews which is why I went there. The setting is lovely. The staff is gracious and attentive, but the food was not excellent. It was good enough. It's somewhat secluded and quiet. The tables and chairs are comfortable and covered with thick floral cloths. The lighting is warm and makes everyone glow. The staff could not have been more efficient and gracious. The food is clean, simple and can only be described as very homemade. This restaurant doesn't try to be anything, it just does what seems to be natural. The customers spoke many languages, proving its wide reputation. I had the octopus salad followed by a saute of mussels and clams. The mussels were small and flavorful unlike the ones you get in the USA that are flabby and bred for size rather than taste. In both dishes, parsley, ordinarily humble, orchestrated all the other elements. Chris had a mixed vegetable grill and a pasta that he said tasted just like my grandmother's. I never knew what it was that gave her pasta sauce a rich sweet flavor, but this kitchen delivers the same. I loved the warm chewy bread, perfect for sopping up the rich seafood bath. I had two glasses of a fine local Nero d"Avola. We had two deserts that were melt-in-your mouth velvet. The total bill came to about $60!!

Yelp
This place was really amazing. Our waiter (probably the owner) was incredibly nice and service minded and spoke English very well. Our primis was well made, although the pasta was a bit overcooked (not al dente), but had great flavors. We had the pesto, bolognese and salmon, all were great. The Sicilian rolls (secondi) were okay, but nothing extraordinary. Most of the desserts tasted really good, but the chocolate cake was a bit "dull". The prices were really cheap. We got three primis, one secondi, three desserts, a bottle of wine and two bottles of water for €60. We really recommend it!

Yelp
This place has excellent reviews on Google, and for good reason. The host(?) of the restaurant was extremely warm and welcoming - it was too bad that we had a late dinner and weren't too hungry. He also spoke fairly good English. We ordered a starter of octopus salad (they happened to have fresh octopus) and some seafood risotto. Both were excellent - it was the type of food that we couldn't stop talking about for the rest of the trip. They were also very accommodating and not pushy/snobbish at all, it was fine that we were sharing the two dishes and they treated us very graciously. I think this may be the best food experience I had in Italy, and I only wish I had walked in with an empty stomach...

Yelp
Lovely place and amazing food options. Recommended by our B&B host. Our antipasto had some olives that were incredibly tasty! the next table had the "catch o the day fish" it looked so delicious and judging by their faces it surely was. After we needed to head to the airport and the owner graciously call for a taxi service. Great all around.

Yelp
What luck! We were staying only 10 meters away and went here for our first dinner during a 5 day stay in Catania. Great food, perfectly prepared and very reasonably priced. Now it is day 3 and we have yet to find a restaurant that compares with the service and ambiance. Truly a gem. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great service, make a reservation for sure. Great sense of humour and wonderful English spoken by the owner. Great food.

Yelp
Great seafood - very pleasant service - nice little restaurant- very much worth a visit

Yelp
Antonio was fantastic and takes great pride in making the food at his restaurant. He was able to explain all the options in English and had great recommendations. I had the pasta with seafood wrapped in foil. I know it sounds weird but you just need to try it. I'm not sure what wrapping it in foil does for the meal but the food inside was exactly what I was looking for!

Marie H.

Yelp
This was a lovely restaurant with typical Sicilian menu. It was a great choice for us on our last night in Sicily. We had a Sicilian antipasto, pasta and pork everything was delicious - so glad it was recommended to us by our hotel.

Yelp
Great food. Menu was totally in English. I had the pasta alla Norma which was amazing and my husband had the mussels and clams. Also delicious. Very friendly staff. Antonio greets each table and takes orders. Good spot!

Yelp
I really loved this small Italian restaurant next to the place where we were staying. It was recommended to us by the host of our holiday accommodation. The place is really great. You are greeted and the door and invited to your table. The maitre - Antonio is full of humor and jokes. He also makes sure that you will have a great time during dinner and you will come back. Both of the times we visited the place we were offered a nice aperitif to start dinner with. This was each time a great start to our dining experience. They have a great selection of pastas - my all time favourite is spaghetti alle vongole and a selection of mains. Make sure that you order tomatoes with onion and salted ricotta to start with - those are to die for:-) Restaurant has a great selection of wines. Although they dont have a house wine but it doesn't mean that you cannot order half a liter of any bottled wine for a very good price. If you are ever in the neighborhood of Catania be sure to visit this place and you will not regret it.
