Barmaid from Mosaico recommended this place for us last minute on Thursday eve. We wanted to eat something traditional, she said it doesn’t look that fancy but food is great. We believed her and boy it’s really good , would totally recommend it if you want nice traditional homey Italian food. Btw Mosaico has great different types of Negroni. In both places people were very nice !

An unassuming place right off the square, but make no mistake, the food is amazing. Those little fluffy bread thingys were incredible. The best 5 euro i've spent this entire trip. The minced pork was also top notch.

Very traditional cuisine and atmosphere, bringing back to the Italian traditional restaurants on the ‘70s. No frills, just good old home made pasta, great buffet o of antipasti with good selection of vegetables. Cold cuts were “ok” but could be improved in terms of quality, given the goodies in the region. Service was very friendly and professional!

Ok, it's hard to find a restaurant that doesn't taste good in a city like Modena where, pretty much very place, offers incredible food, but Enzo is really a gem in the city center. The restaurant was founded in the 1950's and kept the original vibe! At the entrance you'll see a old lady (probably a relative of the original owner) rolling pasta. Pretty much everything is hand made in this restaurant and tastes incredibly good. Maybe the only downside is that if you're looking for vegetarian options they might be really few. Emilia has quite a strong meat base in every dish. If you don't have any of these problems than do yourselves a favor and stop here!

Friendly service and fantastic traditional food. This place is a little gem in the Modena town center. You will see the ladies to make fresh tortellini and preparing the gnocco fritto. Highly recommended!

The description of the restaurant said „homemade pastas“ so, my expectations were high - especially since this is Italy we are speaking of. I ordered the Bolognese Tagliatelli Pasta and Tiramisu. The „layout“ or presentation of the dish was very poor. The plates were partly dirty on the sides of dish and it looked overall quite bleak and bland - and the taste wasnt really any better… Overall it looked like it was thrown together quite hastily and was quite small…. It lacked really any flavour or spices and I have eaten bread with more flavour and taste in it than that pasta… At least the price was quite cheap - 10-14€ for each pasta dish - but I would have very preferably payed more for a proper dinner and even for this price it was barely ok. The tiramisu tasted like it was warmed from a frozen one.

Google
A fantastic restaurant - excellent service (they were particularly tolerant of us as English speakers, with our best attempts at Italian). Very reasonable prices - we had two dishes, a side dish, half litre of wine for 36 euro! The food was fantastic too. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
Fantastic service and delicious food trational food of Modena! It's not the cheapest meal you can get here, but it's still far from expensive! Highly recommend (but don't be surprised if they're completely booked)!

Yelp
To get to the dining room, we walked through the kitchen which was such a unique and memorable experience for me because it felt like I was going through a secret entrance. We were able to be seated right away and with no reservations because we came right when lunch time started. The food was delicious and everything was good. We tried dishes that our server recommended to us. Personally, there was nothing that was OMG delicious that I find myself daydreaming about months after (I felt this way about most of the Italian food in Italy. I'm more used to the Americanized Italian food it seems). The coolest thing was walking through the kitchen to the dining room. This is what we ordered: tortellini in crema di parmigiana €12 lasagne verdi vecchia modena €10 tortelli ricotta zucca spinach €10 filetto di miale €16 - this is smothered in balsamic vinegar. It's very "modena" we were told. It's pretty good but super vinegary. There's a toilet on the first floor if needed.

Yelp
We are at this lovely restaurant after being unable to get into any of Mossimo's restaurants, and we weren't disappointed. I had the tortellini in broth, and it was fantastic. They bring fresh nutmeg to grind over it. Wow. The fresh nutmeg really elevated the dish. The restaurant is upstairs, but easy to find because they have a sign that lights up outside. They don't have outdoor seating. There were only two tables of tourists including us, everyone else was locals. The waiters were attentive and we received our food without a long wait. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
We got lucky on a Saturday afternoon. We walked in without a reservation and there was 1 two-top available. This is a very traditional restaurant filled to the brim with happy Italians eating lunch. Highly recommended. San Vincenzo Prosecco. A bit sweet, but very tasty. €14. Coperto: dry rolls with sides of pork fat and a soft cheese. Thick balsamic vinegar. The pork fat is to die for. Carpaccio: beef with radicchio and parmigiano. So good. Gnocchi with bolognese. Melts in your mouth. Dolce: Macedonia Misto (mixed fruit). Espresso and grappa barricata. Our waiter left the bottle so I could pour what I wanted. ++ Service. Just perfect + Bathrooms. Clean, well lit and a cool temperature on a hot day. + Tablecloths + Cloth napkins + Wi-Fi 0 Average flatware. A bit disappointing in this upscale restaurant. €50 for lunch for 2 with wine

Yelp
Service is impeccable. Our server gave us great suggestions for the local dishes. Pasta are all hand made and the tortellini in broth was exceptional. Gnocco Fritto was one of the best we had. Grilled veggies were also very tasteful. Food is delicious and we had a great time at Ristorante Enzo!

Yelp
This is a nice upstairs restaurant with good service and good food. I saw an older couple milling around and sometimes asking if I needed anything or taking plates away. I think they were the owners and wanted to make sure everything was ok. I had the tortellini in broth was was excellent. The steak with balsamic vinegar was also good, but I don't think it was the DOP balsamic, which is the premium brand- also very expensive. Prices here were reasonable. All in all it was a good value for the money. Food and service were very good.

Yelp
The pasta is amazing, and the decor is traditional. Be careful with the desserts because they're very, very sweet.

Yelp
This place is amazingly good! The staff is friendly and helpful in choosing among dishes. We had a baccalà starting breaded with parmesan be sure to add pepper and balsamic winegar. I'm not a fan of fish dishes but this was insanely good. Then we had a pasta tris which was also good: different tastes for three completely different kind of traditional pasta emiliana. After this, why don't eat gnocco fritto with ham? Gnocco fritto is one of the most delicious dishes of this part of Italy (with Piadina in my humble opinion) so be sure you try this particular version of the Gnocco. Last but not least a slice of cake with mascarpone and on top of this: coffee, best conclusion for every lunch. All these dishes were very very good and delicious, I can't stress more how I did like them. Try this place, you won't regret it!

Yelp
We had come to Modena with a few ideas of where to eat but had not made a booking. We asked the staff at our accommodation where we should go to eat and this was her second suggestion. Around 19:00 we managed to call up and make a booking for two people at 20:30. Take note, this was on a Saturday night and 20:30 or 21:00 is when Italians start to have dinner. So I think we were lucky to nab a reservation. When we got there the place was full, mostly with locals. Also at the first part of the entry you see trays of fresh pasta and behind that we saw a lady continuing to make the fresh tortellini. We were led to our table and we were given an English menu. I had a few ideas as to what to order as I had researched a bit about what is typically Modenesi. I had the tortellini in beef broth and my partner had the bigger tortellino (I think that's what it is called). Our excellent waiter (wish I had caught his name, he was awesome. Also if you speak English he will most probably serve you as I do not think the other staff do. Ask him for recommendations, he will not let you down) told my partner to put Parmesan on his and drops of the balsamic. For me, I was told to put Parmesan on mine and grate some fresh nutmeg on it. He said once I've eaten all the pasta to add a drop of the Lambrusco we were drinking. He said during the war, they didn't have enough broth so they used to mix in the wine. Now this may sound like an odd combo, but it worked and tasted divine! Then for our secondi my partner had the pork sausage - now, be warned, this sausage does not use normal casing but the skin I think from the pig trotter. That said, it is soft and edible. However if you're not into jelly-like, slimy textures you might not like it. It was served with mashed potatoes and two sauces - a pepper sauce and salsa verde. I had two slices of meat (can't remember the specifics) with a balsamic sauce and mashed potatoes. It was simple but absolutely brilliant. For dessert, the wait recommended either zuppe inglese which he said is basically like a wet cake or chocolate cake in a marscapone cream. Both are Modena specialties and we went with the chocolate cake. It looked very rich, but oddly enough it was not. Everything about the food and the service was very well done. I cannot praise it enough. The interior is nothing modern or showy, but in my opinion, you don't need fancy decor to have a great dining experience. Will definitely visit again when in Modena!

Yelp
We had a spectacular meal at Da Enzo. Our wonderful waiter, Andrea, guided us through the menu and suggested really fantastic wines by the glass, so we could try different kinds of Lambrusco that paired well with our meal. The carpaccio, with radicchio and Parmesan, came with gnocco fritto and a very thick balsamic vinegar. We were instructed to make combine eat everything together, with little drops of balsamic on top. Insanely good. The passatelli in capon broth (with Parmesan and nutmeg) was so simple yet so good. We shared the pasta tasting - tortellini (again, with drops of balsamic), pasta with sausage ragu, and green lasagna. Then came the balsamic scallopine - two perfect pieces in a luscious sauce, with some potatoes and grilled vegetables. We had Crema caramel and vin passito for dessert. We had an incredible time at this very authentic, very delicious restaurant. You must go!

Yelp
Food is one of the best way for knowing a place. Here you can find a great selection of local dishes, wine and liquor. Is a great place for tasting the typical balsamic vinegar. If unsure let the waiter help you, you won't regret it and I'm quite sure you'll find an excuse for coming back and taste more from their menu.

Yelp
Very traditional dishes on offer w reasonable pricing. Great place to have a little bit of everything Modena has to offer w a good Lambrusco wine list to choose from. Seemed to be more locals there than tourists.

Yelp
This reataurant is excellent. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the food is fabulous, and the prices are very reasonable. Be sure to the meat and cheese appetizer with the fried pasta. Fantastico!
