This restaurant is located next to the Pantheon in Rome, Italy. From the moment you walk in, it’s clear this is an elegant, upscale establishment. The interior is neat and clean, and the service was excellent. The food arrived quickly, though the restaurant wasn’t very busy, with only about three other tables occupied. They brought us bread, which we hadn’t requested, and later charged us for it on the bill. I think they should be upfront about such charges—it wasn’t a nice surprise. I ordered the octopus, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband’s steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful. He also enjoyed the potatoes. However, he ordered a side of spinach, and when I tried it, I noticed it was gritty, as if it hadn’t been washed properly—it tasted like there was sand in it. Overall, it’s a lovely restaurant with great potential, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Google
It’s okay. Nothing to rave about. Presentation was average. Food taste\quality was average. Service was nothing special. Certainly did not seek to wow us. Server completely lacked any energy or enthusiasm. Should have known better when there was no line and many available tables at peak dining time.

Google
Had an amazing experience. Met one of the owners, Enzo, and made such a friendship, came back the next day for lunch. All of the staff was friendly and felt like family. Check out the plethora of famous actors, politicians, and celebrities on the interior walls. True Roma, true service.

Google
Lovely place, but sadly it did not live up to its location for the quality and price of the food. I ordered meatballs from the Pasta section, assuming I would have pasta with my meatballs, but instead I only received 5 meat balls in a like warm tomato sauce. My partners burger was a a larger meal and better value but again, nothing to write home about. I ordered a grande beer and received a standard size and my partners cappuccino was cold on arrival, making it extremely difficult to recommend this place, unfortunately.

Google
A wonderful ‘proper’ restaurant, 20 yards from the Pantheon. Amazing Parmigiana starter and bean soup. My traditional pasta was delicious. The italian wine pairing with dinner was perfect.

We were really excited to try this place after a long day of walking. But we ended up stuck in a strange and awkward situation beyond our control. We ordered our drinks and our simple meal, straightforwardly without much questions asked or demands. But for some reason the waiter understood that we ordered fried mozzarella twice. We didn’t even order it once or know it was on the menu. He seemed upset at us afterwards, claiming he asked us twice about it but he didn’t. Again, we didn’t even know about any fried mozzarella. Maybe it was another table?? The service seemed to just forget about us after that. We were charged for two dishes of fried mozzarella and we were treated like we didn’t know what we were talking about. I really don’t know why this happened and why it was handled this way.

When I asked the server for recommendations, he said “it’s all good!” He wasn’t wrong. The gluten-free pasta was perfectly al dente and the cream gelato was wonderfully offset by fresh berries. This was probably my favorite dining experience in Rome.

Google
The food is not so bad but the portion is too small. The smell of fish and seafood is all over the restaurant u may lose appetite. that suits the portion size actually! Our waiter was so unfriendly and rude. In general with this price not worth it at all.

Yelp
Very popular restaurant near the Pantheon! Checkout the pictures on the wall of all popular people who have dined there. Even though very popular the prices were not as pricey. The food is also very good. It does get busy. So make sure you make reservations for dinner. There are lots of food options and you won't go wrong on any dish you order. The portion sizes are good so you don't have to order many dishes or side dishes. Try the carbonara pasta to start. The lamb chops were very good! For dessert try the pistachio tiramisu... it was very very tasty!

Yelp
Pretty good experience here -- nothing mind blowing, but you are getting good food with an excellent view and atmosphere. We were lucky enough to sit outside with a clear view of the Pantheon. The arabbiata was good, but I have had better. The caprese salad was actually terrific and I highly recommend it

Yelp
The restaurant is located near The Pantheon. Pictures on the wall of all the famous people who dined there. Ordered the squash blossoms, artichoke flan, alla amatriciana, tortalini, pasta e fagioli. Excellent. Service was good.

Yelp
Great place to eat for a place occasion. Is a very proud restaurant with delicious dishes. walking steps from the pantheon. We went for a Christmas Eve dinner and enjoyed every dish they served us. The pictures do not do its justice. Their pasta dishes were spot on. Our family went a little crazy and maybe over ordered but when in Rome...lol

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my birthday and had made reservations 5 months in advance. We arrived that evening and they acted like they didn't have my reservation nor had they reserved a table outside. They seated us in the corner outside which didn't have a view of anything. The service was disciplined but there are no smiles or discussion. It was what do you want? Not even a special dessert waiting. I was truly disappointed with this place and I really can't recommend it to anyone celebrating a special occasion. Take your time and look for something that will help with your special moment. Food was ok. Risotto was bland with no taste. Service cold. Pretentious waiter.

Yelp
Best meal we had in Rome. Need I say more. Food fantastic server great. Sat out side couldn't have been more perfect. A must when in Rome.

Yelp
One of the loveliest experiences from our trip to Italy; we loved it so much we went twice! The vibe, decor, and waiters are old school glam. The food is excellent, portions are large, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Fortunato!

Yelp
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Rome but what was even better was the service!!!!! Our sommelier Raspagliosi Giuliano was AMAZING! Picked perfect wines BOTH times we went in the 3 days we were in Rome. Our food was excellent to say the least. Squash blossoms and artichokes for appetizers were spot on! The each of the pasta's we had were absolute heaven!! We originally only reserved one night but after our first dinner we knew we had to go back. It was very easy to make another reservation. The location is perfect as well. I can tell you this, I will return to this restaurant every single time I go to Rome!! It's a must!

Yelp
Amazing location. Servers were super friendly. Food was pretty good! We went the place in the white truffle season! So we could have one. Taste was good but not superb. Vealchop was worth to try. It seemed uncooked, but texture and taste was amazing. It's in the small alley, so we could enjoy watching people stroll around the place.

Yelp
We happened in to this amazing restaurant just by luck and we're richly rewarded with great service, a delicious meal and pleasant atmosphere. Just off the main piazza of the Pantheon, this restaurant has been in service since 1975, with elegant tables inside and outside (inside for us, it was a hot morning!) and the waitstaff is professional and perfectly accommodating, helpful and generous. We ordered antipasto and secundis from the menu that featured the classics - cacciatore de pepe, carbonara, insalata de pulpo, but also fresh pesce and other seasonal dishes. I had the saltambocca, done perfectly, not over sauced or underdone. My table mates had carbonara and veal bolognese, also classic dishes that were perfect, well above the standard trattoria fare. We opted out of the extensive wine list, and had cocktails which also were well done. A very nice respite from the activity of Rome on a hot weekday filled with other tourists, so glad we had "stumbled in"! PS - my daughter is certain an Instagram influencer was there when we were, setting up the camera and review what to feature, so go before it gets famous, again - the walls are lined with famous actors, sports and political figures, even Presidents Reagan and Clinton!

Yelp
Amazing experience. The best carbonara I've ever eaten and the service was over the top. An absolute must when in Rome.

Yelp
My neighborhood spot, and I live in Las Vegas. I just happen to go to Rome, a lot! Always kind, the owner Jasen is usually around to share a great conversation with, recommend a dish or great bottle of wine. And you got to love that view of the Pantheon. He knows I'm a big sampler and rarely finish, so he made me a dream come true sample plate. My favorites were Traditional rigatoni carbonara -Spaghetti classici alla gricia Spaghetti with pecorino cheese, pork cheek, and black pepper Roman Classics Strozzapreti "Amatricina" with pork cheek, pecorino and black pepper

Yelp
We had wonderful service at this restaurant. The sommelier or manager came up and asked us what we would like. He suggested a great Bianco Riserva and the salt crust baked whole seabass. We had various people helping with service at our table and everyone is friendly and helpful. Highlight of our meal The salt crust baked seabass was delicate and delicious. The grilled lobster was slightly over cooked so it was a bit rubbery. The amatriciana was delicious. Pasta cooked al dente, tomato tasted like tomato sauce and not overly tart/sour. The seafood platter is okay but all raw, fyi. We ordered a Franciacorta, my favorite type of Italian sparkling wine. Overall, good experience for us. I would say foo averages to 3.5 and I bumped them up to a 4 because they treated us very well. Locals ate here while we dined and we noticed they ordered very specific dishes. The menu is extensive but I think like any other place, know what is good regionally. Especially in Italy since each region is so distinctive.

Yelp
Overpriced, overrated restaurant that was primarily Americans the night we went. Which explains how they stay in business with tiny portions of mediocre food in a city known for Great Dining. In over one month in Italy one of the two worst meals I had. The pasta, veal, and salad were all Hotel banquet quality only child's portions. The only thing that was not mediocre was the wine list, but very pricey. We had diners(with wine )in Rome for less the bottle of wine here.

Yelp
Overall: Had a wonderful evening at the **Fortunato Wine Bar & Wine shop** after seeing the wine in the window! Wine & Food: 5 stars. The selection of wine is amazing. The quality is high and preserved wonderfully in refrigerated compressed cases. Service: 5 stars. Alessandro the sommelier is amazing. He was incredibly helpful making the best recommendations and incredibly knowledgeable. We also got to meet the owner Jason who told us the history of the restaurant and food they purchase. Friendly and always smiling, they both made our visit unforgettable.

Yelp
Great dining in front of the Pantheon. This was a Rick Steves recommendation. It's a bit on the upper-end and it's best to dress up though they sat us in our casual clothes since we had a reservation and came early in the evening. Their Tagliolini with olives and tomatoes and hebs was AMAZING. The Roman style artichokes were also great. The veal was OK. All in all a great meal and fantastic location. Tip, if you sit outside don't sit on the very edge next to the street as peddlers, beggars and street vendors will constantly harass you, but as its a public street I don't blame the restaurateurs as there's not a lot they can do as a huge tourist site like the Pantheon. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
The location is amazing. So close to the Pantheon but not so close as to be caught in the crowds... The service was impeccable. We had a reservation which is a must if you wish to enjoy this restaurant on a Friday night. Outside seating is great and they did chase away the flower sellers and loud musicians! The food was really good. We had a delicious antipasto of cheese and meats... Plenty to share. For the main course, you cannot go wrong with their pasta. Also the grilled scampi was incredible. Only regret was that we did not get the artichokes!. Next time... Because when we come back to Rome, we are getting dinner here again!

Yelp
What an absolutely wonderful lunch! Close to the Pantheon but we could not view it while dining. That would have been perfect. As it was, we had to settle for some excellent food to build our walking strength. I opted for steak strips with small tomatoes and roasted potatoes. The meat was quite tasty and when coupled with the 'taters made me a very happy camper. This establishment is more formal than others we visited, not that you have to dress formally to eat there, but provided an outstanding meal when we needed it. And, based on the looks on the faces of other patrons, everyone was pleasingly fed in a bright, clean and well-visited establishment. I rate it a 4.5 and round it up to a 5 star.

Yelp
A waiter was very nice, loved fresh mozzarella, and pasta. Everything was just perfect. Belissimo

Yelp
I was a bit nervous about eating here as it is so close to the Pantheon. Generally, I don't like to eat at restaurants right next to tourist attractions but I decided to give it ago. The service and food were pretty good. We tried some veggies, the minestrone, veal meatballs, and a couple pastas. We were too stuffed to order dessert but they brought out complimentary limoncella and biscotti which we consumed even though we were stuffed. The biscotti was really really good and the limoncella was strong!

Yelp
Nice, but touristy restaurant near the Pantheon. Seating inside and out, we dined in the back room surrounded by American bishops, priests and seminary students in Rome preparing to be ordained the following week. Literally surrounded on all sides. When the plates came to the table, all heads bowed and there was a flurry of signs of the crosses. Needless to say we were on our best behavior. All by way of saying, these priests live well, with multiple courses, wine flowing freely, and except for the frock on the seminary students (of note, the senior priests were in street clothes--blue blazers with large crests on the pocket, nice watches on the wrists) might be any other well heeled fraternal order clapping each other on the back and talking about football. While we dined well in Rome, this location charged a premium of about 40-50% on the food and 100% on the wine. We had pasta cacio e pepe, veal with mushrooms and a bottle of local red wine. All quite good although with a longer than expected delay between courses, likely due to location and parties of 6-8 priests who all came in at once. Strolling through the piazza after dinner, a street musician sang 'Imagine' while children ran about blowing bubbles.

Yelp
This restaurant is known for having American politicians dining here based on the walls covered in pictures. Food was good but not amazing. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe and the Fettuccine with clams along with Cheesecake for desert. Pastas were good but don't expect the cheesecake to taste like what you are use to in the states. Let's just say you need to try it at least once in your life.

Renata B.

Yelp
Probably worst service ever, and I am from NY, so I don't expect miracles. The waiter was super old, throwing down dishes, silver ware, the 5 drops of wine he poured without asking if we wanted to see an actual wine list, whereas other waiters actually did. Food was not good, as well, so I do not know what they are famous for. I would not recommend this place to a single person. If I didn't have to pick a star I wouldn't

Andy F.

Yelp
Ordinary food. Over 70% mark up On beverages. Food is ok but takes forever. Service is based on accent. Be ware!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Jason Baldasarri, the owner has reinvented a wonderful dining experience following in the footsteps of his most beloved Papa, Fortunado The pasta is excellent and the seafood well chosen and perfectly prepared. The wine list is comprehensive and well selected. The shadow of the 2000 yr old Pantheon creates an ambiance that cannot be duplicated. A must visit restaurant

Ron S.

Yelp
Nice quite location. We sat outside on a very comfortable day. Food was good and the service was as well. I had the veal parm which was a large portion that was good. However I am used to a lot of but it only came with cheese and on top was 1 spoonful of sauce

Michael L.

Yelp
Wonderful service, wine and food in the immediate associated and adjacent wine bar! "Reka" introduced us to wines of the region and was professional and personable. Bravo, Reka. Nice view of the passing people on their way to the Pantheon. Good music (and a/c). Be sure to give this place a try.

Ramon D.

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation. Crudo appetizer was ok. Service was poor for those who are NOT fair in complexion or speak Italian. Food was NOT worth the amount listed. The smell of BAD fish/seafood was lingering throughout the night. Looks fancy but its truly not. Try a Mom and Pops restaurant before coming here, it will taste better and cost 1/2 the price!

Yelp
If I could leave zero stars I would. I came here tonight with my brand new husband on our honeymoon. It was recommended from an Italian friend. Apparently since we were no one special and not Italian we got treated like someone with the plague. We had a reservation for two and were seated at a table that was basically the extra table added by the toilets and where they drop the dishes. Our waiter checked on us twice maybe three times the whole evening. My new husband had the salmon which he said was barely edible and I had the I ribeye which was brought to our table cold. For the dinner that was supposed to be our special dinner on our honeymoon I'm more than disappointed. I would recommend friends get a root canal over this restaurant. Thanks for making my honeymoon memorable.

Jim C.

Yelp
This was an excellent restaurant. Many American priests and locals have dinner here. The owner was raised in Los Angeles and has a great wine list. In one week in Rome I went here twice.

Troy H.

Yelp
Great cheese course and wine was an amazing local find suggested by our server. Pasta was nice but risotto was the hit.
google avatar

Marcus P.

Yelp
We went here for lunch and had a fantastic time. The linguine and clams as the best of the trip. My secondi was veal with butter and sage which was great. My wife had the salmon pasta which was amazing. This place is right off the piazza from the Pantheon. Highly recommended.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Ate here last night based off of recommendation from a local and the food was outstanding. Our server was exceptionally friendly and helpful. My colleague had the fillet with a peppercorn sauce, insane. I had the veal chop with black truffle, I've never described a veal chop as like butter, until last night. Surprised to see a few bad reviews sprinkled in here, sometimes it's just a bad night. Last night was not one of them. Highly recommended
google avatar

Lucia B.

Yelp
Came for dinner on my first night in Rome dinner was amazing. Big wine list nice selection, friendly staff .
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
First dinner in Rome and our least favorite. We ordered the veal meatballs which were a huge disappointment and the gnocchi. While the gnocchi was cooked to perfection the sauce was mediocre.

Frank L.

Yelp
Very very poor experience. Many things on menu (tuna) not available despite we order at beginning of evening. Also serve us pork despite we told them we are kosher. Avoid at all cost!!!

Michele A.

Yelp
What a great place with awesome service, and in such a great location (one block from the Pantheon)! We wandered in late night into the bar and they were so accommodating and generous. We got to experience the customer service and atmosphere and it really added to our trip. Thank you Fortunato al Pantheon... we are so happy we stopped in!

cj j.

Yelp
Very touristy and below average. Have no idea why Rick Steves would ever recommend this place. Lamb chops were tiny and overcooked as were the little overcooked potatoes . My husband's Saltimboca was also very small and very ordinary. Several things were off, like when we asked for butter for our bread our waiter acted like it was unusual asking for butter even though the table next to us had butter. But the very worst was the Baba Au Rhum dessert, I even asked where was the rum? Or at least rum flavoring! Not a TRACE of rum. Primitivo wine was delicious, but one would hope a restaurant of this (so called) reputation would at least have good wine. They even charged us for the TINY shot of Limoncello, which most restaurants serve au gratis.. We spent E120! Please go anyplace else.

Gemma G.

Yelp
Horrible & overpriced. This restaurant was highly recommended by Rick Steves & was a huge disappointment. Rude & indifferent waiters & way overpriced. Two $16 antipasti, 2 verdure & a medium priced wine of a bad year & the price was 122 euros! Stay away!

Tony S.

Yelp
The price of the food should not deter you. This was an amazing fine dining experience... Such that we had to go back all 3 nights we were in Roma. I had a Filet steak medium rare (the only way) to perfection, the gnocchi, Founder -- which they brought the fish out to me to show me beforehand, fresh mozzarella, the fried mushrooms were fantastic. We must have eaten every dessert in the place before we left and they were all to die for! Vincenzo's service was amazing and even though I don't speak Italiano I tried my best with what I knew, said my please and thank you's and got excellent service. I don't know why poor service was received but I know I'm well-travelled and I'm not ignorant. I would recommend to sit inside although the outside seating offered as others have said street music at times I feel going inside was the better decision because you can appreciate the restaurant more than the outdoor ambiance. The owner Jason treated us like familia and you can sense his pride in the amazing establishment he operates. When I return to Roma you can bet my bottom dollar I will be dining here again.
