Ristorante Gradale

I would've given it 5 stars but dessert really ruined it. The cheesecake was completely frozen. I could barely break it with the spoon. Easily the worst cheesecake I've ever had. I was going to tell the waiter when he came back with our wine. But he never brought the wine we ordered. Not that it would've mattered to tell them, it clearly came right out of the freezer and onto the plate, so they already knew they were serving it frozen.

I have been coming here for 7 years. I love the walk from Centro Storico to Castello Di Monterone. Once at the castle it’s exquisitely peaceful with amazing gardens and views towards Perugia. The restaurant has a wonderful terrace and a great contemporary interior. The current chef, Domenico, has done great things with the cuisine. I love the food the atmosphere and the excellent staff. The hotel and restaurant staff are truly great. The food is not always consistent but I continue to enjoy the menu, the friendliness and the venue. A true Perugia treasure.

I made a reservation for 20 people on a Sunday at lunch. They were very nice to open for lunch even if on Sunday they work only for dinner. The location is amazing there is a balcony with a spectacular view of Perugia and the countryside. The food excellent and very well presented , nice wine and the service professional, attentive and cordial. If you plan to celebrate an event you can definitely take this place in consideration, your guests will be very pleased. I didn’t give 5 stars because at the last minute one of my guest didn’t come and they charged me for this guest anyway. It didn’t seem to be ok since we spent almost 1500Euros . Anyway this is the only negative note. The rest overall was really great!

Great Fine dining with local dishes, everything was tasty and unique, from starters to desserts. Variety of Gluten free options. Great Service. Reasonable price for the quality and size of dishes.

What a find! We visited four times during a three week stay near Perugia, and apart from the last visit where every single chain smoker in the vicinity appeared to have descended on the place for lunch, we had wonderful lunches, drinking in the view (not to mention the Aperol spritz), enjoying the eclectic locally sourced menu (including child-friendly pasta pomodoro) and excellent service. Go. You won't be disappointed.

We have been several times at Gradale. Last time 4 years ago. We always enjoyed the food, however this time was a big disappointment. We starters, primi and secondi. The starters were okay although oversalted. All went downhill with primi and secondi. The pasta dishes contained sauces that were grainy and blend. The taste was flat except for the saltiness. The secundi were even worse. My wife had vitello tonnato which was acceptable but again with a grainy tonnato sauce. My beef filet was over cooked, two awfull sauces which seemed to come from a bottle and a puree which was way to runny. Again oversalted. We decided to skip dessert. When asked we complained about the food with no further follow up so we thought a review was in order. Great views, awfull food. We will never return.

I stumbled upon this place via a Google search. Fabulous food and the best steak that I had ever. I was there a great sho on my trip and I can't look back in awe that I had dinner in a castle. I recommend this to anybody and everybody that wants a nice sit down dinner on top of a hill.
