We stumbled upon this restaurant after being turned away from the spot we initially wants to go due to lack of reservation. So glad we did because we had such a lovely dinner. I think our waiter was unsure of us at first but very quickly warmed up and was great! Food was our favorite in Como.

Ask for seating upstairs , it has much better vibe than downstairs. Their risottos are very good. Among the appetizers we like the dry veal the most.

It's an incredible place for Your mouth and eyes. Food is amasing, portions are proper or even large for some dishes. One very important detail - being Italian speaking person with You, because personell is very rude if one does not speak italian, they scoff, roll their eyes, and even shout because someone is speaking english. I didn't even recognise that something was bad until I exited restaurant and understood that in the end while I was paying hostess was shouting on me in italian because "she doesn't need to speak english, they are Italian!". So, for pure english speakers - beware, but a little bit of dictionary, smiles and You'll be fine.

The food is the best in all the restaurants that we had went to in Italy. The server was very friendly and attentive. He briefly informed us what to add into which dish if the food is not tasty enough for us and his service was prompt and we are very happy for his service. The prices are also very reasonable and cheaper than most restaurants.

I would highly recommend this restaurant! The food is perfect, service was good, and atmosphere was also good. I recommend the ossobucco risotto (beef spin risotto) and the fish risotto. Both local to the area and we’ll prepared. The fish risotto was surprising good, never had any risotto quite like that. Pumpkin potato soup was also very very good. (The portion was really big (we saw from the table next to us) so we asked to share one with the two of us. The restaurant was nice enough to serve in two bowls for us so we don’t look silly in the restaurant.

Food were delicious rosemary steak 🥩 and saffron risotto. don't order cooked vegetables. It's remind me of hospital food The waiter a little bit on a rush although no lines or something. They count the bread basket and if you done they bring another even if you don't order.

It was the best food experience we had in Como, everything was cooked to perfection, the house wine was a real surprise, the staff was great and the price was more than fair for what we have received. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for a good lunch, might be the case to book in advance, we were lucky enough to find a table at lunch time. A real surprise! Definitely we will return when around, a must in Como!

A little bit off the main section of Como, in an old building which we were told by our waiter was the birthplace of Pope Innocent XI in 1611. The dining room is upstairs, on a room which still has some old frescoes and a beautiful huge fireplace. The food was delicious. We had the veal which was very good.

Food good but ambience and service not great. We were put in a big room upstairs and it wasn't very nice and was very stuffy. Waitress a bit tricky.

Very lovely service - well located off the piazza duomo in Como Center. They were super attentive, prices were reasonable for both food and wine. House wines were great and food quality was also strong. Atmosphere is cozy - need a reservation! Will visit next time we're in town.

The risotto was delicious with fresh fish from Lake Como (4/5 stars food). However, the servers were very dismissive of us (maybe because we were two twenty somethings at a nice restaurant) and it was very challenging to order. They also charged us for bread even though we didn't order any and they put it on every table and refilled it. So be aware they are charging you for everything.

Great food and service! The ambiance is quaint and traditional. Will definitely be going back. Love their house Merlot too! Their veal cutlet is amazing!

We had a lovely dinner here on our last night in Lake Como. Service was not perfect but can't fault a packed place and being short staffed. I enjoyed the minestrone soup. The polpette's were amazing and in a very hearty tomato broth. My wife enjoyed the gnocchi's and i had a pretty decent veal scallopini. We got a nice bottle of the vino and enjoyed a good couple hours of the wining and dining. The cute outdoor seating in the back alley area was nice and cool. We made a reservation and definitely recommend doing so BEFORE you arrive. Was easy to find a block off the main Downtown Como shopping area. We were even able to get a cab from the restaurant hostess after dinner. Super nice and convenient! Total of about 75 euro for soup and a first course to share, two entrees, and a bottle of Pinot Noir. Not bad at all!!! Happy Eating and Traveling my peoples!!!

The food was spectacular and we definitely did not leave hungry. Our waitress took care of a room full of customers and she did not neglect one person. She was amazing. The room we were in was very quaint. It was the perfect place to eat in Italy.

Pasta, veal cutlet, gnocchi???? Ugh this place is amazing!!! The ambiance is a very cool cave like area. The food is not like the ambiance it is elegant, delicious, and something you cannot have in the States. The pastas are fresh al dente and the risotto is perfectly cooked still soft but with a bite. The veal Milanese was good...... they covered the gaminess of the Veal but the battering could've been more crispy. The batter could've been lighter. Overall it was great but make a reservation before hand because the place gets packed out and reserved before.

A Hidden Gem! Located right behind the main Cathedral Ristorante Sociale delivers A great atmosphere. Inside a beautiful brick wall structure with a cozy family friendly environment! My wife and I shared a nice bottle of the house Rose and three plates: home made Gnocchi, a Casserole (a winter traditional pork and cabbage plate) and a traditional Risotto AI fungi!

I am sitting here right now and can't believe how great this place is. Menu has English sub titles. They also can understand and speak English as well. The veal special is amazing. I thought there might be jasmine rice, but it was perfect risotto. I mean absolutely perfect. The house red Cabernet is deliciously. The price is way under valued. Great bang for The buck.

Fantastic food and vino. The service was outstanding and the pasta dishes were out of this world! Gotta try to experience it.

On our first evening in Como we had dinner at Ristorante Sociale, a recommendation from the concierge at the hotel. It was ok but nothing special and the steak was a disappointment. We had some warm starters which were the best thing of what we ordered besides the wine of course. The pomodoro pasta was decent. The steak was cooked well-done even though we asked for medium and the red wine sauce was not good. The tiramisu was yummy so at least a good ending. And with wine, even thought I wont claim to be any expert, it was a decent meal but not worth going back for. Look for a different restaurant in Como, this one wasn't spectacular or even good for Italian standards...

Wanted a light lunch so ordered a shared warm antipasti. It was nice. This is followed by tagliatte with pork and fried breaded veal since they were out of cal's liver. All were good. Service was attentive and place was small and cosy. Desserts panna cota good. Tiramisu still not better the one he had in venice. All in all good home cooking.

What a gem of a restaurant! The waiter was amazing by explaining the specials to us twice and was very attentive to us! He also gave us a history of the building and the beautiful fireplace that exists on the first floor! The food was authentic Italian. We both had pasta that was fresh, hot and delicious and very well priced. 0.5L of wine was €4.50! Best part was these Italian mothers on the table opposite enjoying the food! There were more Italians then tourists which was fabulous. If you are in Como, this is definitely worth a look!

Yet again YELP has delivered!!! Well worth tapping the address into google maps and following the directions to this gem of an eatery. Prefect on every count. Staff, food and wine were awesome. Would recommend the black rice seafood bonanza!!!! Great food and very reasonable prices!!!!

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We are happy to have listened to the recommendation. The service , food & cost could not have been better. This family run restaurant definitely did not disappoint We are here in Como for the week and plan on returning at least one more time.

Hotel staff gave us the name of three restaurants in the old town of Como. We got to try two out of three and they did not disappoint. The staff was great with us. English speaking only couple so they were very helpful. The food was the best to date I Como that we have had. Prices were moderate. The wine the waitress suggested was incredible. Would definitely go back.

This place got one star for attitude and 4 stars for food. Rude receptionist makes you feel when you come I as if you are a beggar asking for free food. We saw that this restaurant has good reviews so went there at 6:15pm. Walked in, told by a guy working there the place opens by 7:00pm so come back then. We go back to the cathedral area and sepent time waiting until 7pm. We walk in at 7pm, a lady receptionist looked at me, I said we need a table for 5. Before I finished my sentence she said "reservation??" I said we do not have...then she said emotionally Nnnoo! Then looked down and away. I wanted to give them a chance before I post the review so I said tomorrow?? She said ye how many what time? I said 5 people 7pm and gave her my name. Next night, we walk in at 7pm. She pointed to a tables in the corner said table 1! No one directed us to where is that table! Anyway we found the table based on where she was looking as we walked in. Overall 4 star food so it is good but not the best and not with the poor service. Breaded veal good not great. Spaghetti with basil also good. Wife got the veal also breaded but topped by arugula and tomatoes. The minestrone soup was average. Kids got gnocchi with basil and one with tomato sauce. It was good. Daughter got the spaghetti with chili and garlic. It does not have a visible sauce but has a chili seasoning and is a little spicy. They have a total of 10 tables. Only half full and slowly started filling in. We finished eating and left and 2 tables labeled reserved were still empty!

Sociale made my daughter's 10th birthday so very special. My mother had veal with rice that was outstanding and I had a simple but good pasta dish. The server came out at the end of the meal singing with a candle, very sweet!

Nice restaurant. Quality of food is good. Staff is friendly and accommodating. My fish was simply prepared yet delicious. My husbands veal was nice. The tiramisu was very good!

Nice ambiance and quality food in Como... Its little bit away from touristic part of como ( 5 mins walk) but a ver nice and good place! We ate seafood pasta and tomato souce pasta and shared their special desert. All was good... Liked this place!

This was the the worst restaurant in como. We stayed here almost one week, the worst quality food and service. Do not go here. So many other great places in this beautiful town.

This is a cozy restaurant on a side street in Como. We received a very warm welcome and we're seated immediately for lunch. I had the carbonara. The pasta was perfectly cooked, creamy and topped with a generous portion of high quality bacon or pancetta. We also had the gnocchi alla sociale - fresh and delicious. The house cab was ok. The bathroom was clean. The staff was concerned when we didn't finish our meals, but they were just big plates. I would definitely come back if I'm ever in Como again.

Sociale not only offers excellent food, but also provides incredible service. My husband and I were seated and promptly greeted by our server. After spending time in a coastal city, where seafood was the only available protein, it was nice to have meat as option, so we started with the meatballs, which were delicious. I was between the saffron risotto and the gnocchi, but the waiter highly suggested the gnocchi, so that's what I ordered. If you love gnocchi, order it here. It was the BEST gnocchi I have ever had. Perfectly soft and pillowy with a phenomenal sauce to enhance it. My husband ordered something very simple, the pasta with garlic oil and pepper flakes, and said it was one of the best pasta dishes he has ever enjoyed. Since we were craving gelato, we did not order dessert at Sociale, but I'm sure it would have been just as great as the rest of the meal. If you do go, call ahead for reservations. It does get busy, because it's that good.

The only two good things I could tell about this place is its location and a nice stuff. The room wasn't even similar to the photos, the sound isolation was TERRIBLE- you could hear every single word said by people taking stairs up to their rooms in upper floors. Around 23:00 there was a new check-in in the appartment just above mine and for at least thirty minutes I had to listen to a family with kids installing in their appartment hearing every single word they said.

Lovely place. We were looking for something authentic and off the beaten track and this place was exactly what we were after. The place was small and tables were full and people queueing. Well worth the wait. Food was excellent (I had gnocchi and my other half had tagliatelle) and chocolate salami for dessert was ace! Service was very prompt despite there only being a couple of waiting staff. Excellent value for money also. The best meal we have had in Italy so far!

Just off the main tourist track. Food and service were excellent. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is very nice. Prices were about 30 euro for dinner and wine. The house merlot was great and only 2 euro. I recommend it

The restaurant portion is on the second level, small place but it was absolutely packed. There were no empty tables yet we didn't have to wait. I got the saffron Risotto, and my husband got the pasta with mushrooms. They were both delicious, portions were right. There was a cover charge - I believe it was around 2 Euros. The bathroom is very clean and the decor is super interesting. We got the house cab in .5L and that was very tasty as well. So 2 entrees + .5L wine ended up being around 27 Euros. Not bad for the pricey Como area.

Excellent soup, risotto and pasta. The strawberry cheesecake (did I mention that we're in Italy here?) was superb. Waiter was very friendly and attentive, not pushy. Unlike the other reviewer, we had an excellent time throughout!

Wow!!! It took us three tries to actually get in but worth the wait! Food, staff and amenities were amazing! My husband had the Greenpepper steak - was not what we expected but was even better (we Americans lol) and desert - don't skip the chocolate salami!!! Pair it with the Barolo chinoto and you will. It disappoint! Great gem!

Nice place, good food, acceptable prices. We loved the Gnocchi and Tiramisu! The Ambiente inside on the 1st floor was very nice with a massive old and pompous fire place and high ceilings with paintings on the walls. A good choice by all means

We would have never found this place without directions, but it was worth the search. Between four of us we had three pasta dishes and three entrees. Two and two would have been sufficient, but everything sounded good. It all tasted as good as it sounded. The wine selections were the best we've seen in northern Italy. In addition the wine prices were among the most reasonable we saw at restaurants during our whole time here.

Stumbled upon this place while walking around Como. Food was very good and service was also great. If you are looking for a good local place to eat, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
