Beautiful restaurant with excellent local food and courteous service. The pastas are excellent. The desserts are excellent

My wife and I made came here for lunch on our way back from Spello to Rome before heading home to the US. We wanted somewhere special on our last day and Ristorante Trattoria Il Capanno was the perfect place! We made a reservation online weeks prior and when we arrived we were immediately greeted by name as if they were waiting for us! The service was impeccable. Even though we do not speak Italian the server was still attentive and helped walk us through the menu the best they could. He also provided a link to the website menu so we could use our phones to translate. The location itself is out of a fairytale. It is absolutely stunning. Up in the hills away from the highway, but a very easy drive. When you arrive the restaurant is the only building in site and completely secluded. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, but we chose to eat outside on the gorgeous terrace. We came for the lunch hour at 1:30 and ate alongside only 1 other couple. It felt like a private lunch on in someone’s beautiful Italian villa (because it was)! The service was impeccable and we felt so special and welcomed. For food, we chose the Fettuccine al ragù bianco di Piccione (Pigeon Ragu) and Passatelli con vellutata di pomodori arrosto, stracciatella di burrata e basilico. Then we had the wild boar for a second course and espresso to finish. Everything was absolutely incredible. We thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and location and would have been fine paying even more for what we got! Ristorante Trattoria Il Capanno is truly special and if you get the chance to come you absolutely should. Thank you very much to our server for a great experience and making our last day in Italy so special.

A charming lunch spot. Warm and welcoming service. The potato, egg yolk, Parmesan, truffle and hazelnuts was incredible!!!! Would definitely visit again just for that dish.

The food was very good, but the portion sizes were very small for what you paid.

Wondeful dinner at the capanno restaurant. The ice bucket was a bit small for the bellavista magnum tho. The stuffed quail was a winner...the pigeon ragu less so.

All around excellent restaurant. Truly loved everything about this place. Wonderful service, very cozy ambiance, extensive wine list, every dish perfectly prepared. Flavors were interesting and well balanced, all dishes were served at just the right temperatures, with service that was genuine and perfectly timed. Thank you for an excellent dining experience!

Amazing restaurant. There is an extensive wine list and a locally served menu. The ambiance was perfect, with stars that decorated the evening. Must go!
