Ristorante ViDi Chiuso definitivamente

Restaurante ViDi is situated in the castle that sits at the north side of Portopalo do Capo Passero overlooking the town and island just in front of the faro. We kind of stubbled upon the restaurant on our last night in Portopalo and weren't aware that we were about to arrive somewhere quite so special. The restaurant itself is in a spectacular room in the castle that has been sympathetically restored and a wide terrace overlooking the sea. As we hadn't intended to come somewhere quite so special we only partook of a couple of courses as we'd eaten not long before. However, the food we did eat was delicious if a little too experimental for my liking. The wine was devine, which reflects the co-patron and somellier's clear passion for the grape. A really great place to come for a special occasion in Portopalo.

This place has a stunning view over the ocean. But that is already it. It was the flop of our trip to sicilly. Everything else we did on our trip to this island was great. Apart from the vidi restaurant. Although there were a number of waiters and the place half empty, we waited half an hour for someone to even bring us the menu. I guess we also waited the same time for the bill. The food was overly expensive i.e. main dishes €40-€50 for the quality that was served i.e. simple, pasta, fish meat , etc. Also the taste was nothing to justify the price. These dishes you can get for a quarter of the price with better taste elsewhere in Sicily. We read the ratings on Google and TripAdvisor but cannot after the visit agree with them. This place is overrated

Excellent. 55 euro menu is well worth it. Staff is nice and well informed about wine. Arancino of fish ragù was very good. So was pasta con le sarde. Excellent sworfish breaded and done in an iron skillet a la plancha, with fennel salad. Classic cannolo dessert very good. We also got a plate of confit fruit. We drank wines by the glass chosen by the sommelier: local Donnirè Grillo and ViVeRa A'mami mostly catarratto. How do they get such balanced whites in such a hit climate?

Siamo stati al ristorante ViDi a settembre ed è stata un'esperienza assolutamente da ripetere. Nel menu degustazione sono evidenti le influenze Palermitane dello chef fa anche la voglia di sperimentare. Presentazione dei piatti e qualità degli ingredienti top. Il servizio, inoltre, è stato impeccabile. Il tutto condito dalla meravigliosa cornice del Castello Tafuri. Che dire, torneremo senz'altro.

Arrivati al Ristorante ci si ritrova davanti ad un castello vero e proprio, su un piccolo lembo di terra. Una volta entrata si viene accolti con molta eleganza dalla reception (c'è anche la possibilità di pernottamento). Una volta accompagnati al tavolo ci si ritrova su un terrazzo che è praticamente a picco sul mare. Si cena con la vista del mare e del castello stesso. Veramente unico e romantico. I piatti vengono presentati con cura maniacale con gusti ricercati, mai aggressivi e mai troppo complicati per essere apprezzati. Il personale è veramente gentile e disponibile. Vengono spiegati i piatti, l'ordine con cui mangiare senza mai essere invadenti e fastidiosi. La lista dei vini è molto lunga, partendo da quelli locali e proseguire per tutta l'Italia. Il prezzo è giusto. Un antipasto, un primo, un dolce, calice di vino acqua ecc, si spende sui 50-60€. Consigliato!

Abbiamo avuto il piacere di provare per la prima volta il nuovo Ristorante ViDi l'anno scorso e nuovamente il mese scorso. Il ristorante ViDi si trova in un piccolo villaggio di pescatori alla punta più estrema della Sicilia. Entrando, siamo stati accolti da una meravigliosa visuale sul mare e sull'isolotto di Capo Passero. Sia la prima che la seconda volta, ci siamo innamorati sia della location ma sopratutto del menù dello Chef Palermitano Roberto Pirelli, che abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere dopo la nostra seconda cena, grazie alla gentilezza della capo sala Paola. I profumi ed i sapori della Sicilia sono racchiusi egregiamente in ogni piatto accompagnato dalla professionale descrizione dello staff che ti lascia il desiderio e la curiosità di scoprire ogni piatto. Non rivelerò qui cosa si nasconde dietro il piatto "Boccone di Mare", ma di certo è stata una sorpresa ed un sapore che ogni amante del mare dovrebbe provare. Il menù non solo ti incuriosisce ma ti porta e vivere la cena come una grandiosa esperienza culinaria alla scoperta dei sapori della nostra Sicilia. Ogni menù è altamente equilibrato e tutti i prodotti sono frutto della produzione locale, il che ci rende orgogliosi e rende per noi il ristorante ViDi una tappa obligatoria ogni estate. Tutto lo staff è altamente professionale, si prende cura di ogni esigenza e trasmette la passione per il magnifico cibo siciliano. Inutile dire che la location è stupefacente, la terrazza è a picco sul mare il che rende l'atmosfera assolutamente magica. English: We had the pleasure to try for the first time the ViDi restaurant last year and again last month. ViDi restaurant is located in a small town at the Southern tip of Sicily. As we entered the location, we have been welcomed by a stunning sea view and the little Capo Passero island. Both the first time and the second, we fell in love with the location, but above all with the Menu of the Chef Roberto Pirelli (who is from Palermo). We had the pleasure to meet the Chef after our second dinner, thanks to the kindness of the head of the restaurant, Paola. Sicilian scents and flavours are masterfully enclosed in every dish (elegantly presented), which is accompanied by its own professional description of the staff, leaving you with the desire and curiosity of finding out what ingredient is hidden behind every dish. I will not reveal what is behind the dish "Boccone di mare" (literally translated as "Bite of the sea"), but this is a surprise and a taste that every sea lover should try. The menu not only intrigues you, but it will transform the dinner in a sublime culinary experience to discover the flavours of our Sicily. Each menu is varied and balanced and all the products are sourced locally, this made us proud of our "madre terra" and made ViDi restaurant a mandatory stop. The staff is highly professional, they take care about every small details and they are are clearly passionate about Sicilian food. Needless to say that the location is astonishing, a castle with a terrace on a cliff overlooking the sea and an old Tonnara, which makes the atmosphere absolutely magical.
