Risto's Guest House

Anita was the best host we had on our Balkan trip, very welcoming, easy to talk to, and even gave as a free room upgrade with a fantastic lake view. A truly wonderful place!

In a charming village, this guest house is a fantastic location for a morning hike in the mountains. In the afternoon drive down to the beach and jump in the lake to cool off. In the evening enjoy a Macedonian supper on the terrace as you look across the lake towards Albania. Risto and Anita’s hospitality is out of this world and makes you feel like family. One of the most memorable visits in my many years of travel.

We were recommended by a staff in our hotel to eat something at Risto's and Anita's guesthouse. Because we didnt manage to reach them over phone we walked up in the good hope to get some food. We found out that the guesthouse is not a restaurant but do serve food to their guests or at request if there is space. But were welcomed for a drink nevertheless because they didnt have food enough for us. Anita arranged that, even although they were fully booked, we could join the dinner at the workers table for the next day. ||When we came the next day we had the most amazing three course dish of our time in Macedonia, cooked with love and with great flavor. We got so much food that we just couldn't eat it all even though we really wanted to. Their home made wine was also a great addition to the food! ||We can recommend everyone who wants to experience the real macedonian hospitality to stay at Anita and Risto. And... If you decide to only eat there, just give them a call beforehand and see if a table is free.

We were so happy to meet Anita and Risto, the owners of Risto's Guest House. They were friendly, always up for a conversation and Anita is an amazing cook! We had breakfast and dinner at the guest house and even though we can eat quite a lot - we couldn't finish all the delicious dishes that Anita prepared for us! She was so generous. The place is so charming too, such a nice garden with many flowers, and it's very nicely decorated. Thank you both for making our experience in Macedonia so enjoyable! Great place, the owners - one of the warmest, friendliest people you encounter in life, chatty, communicative, helpful, funny.... you feel there as if you were at your family place. Every meal served by Anita - the owner- tastes like heaven. Losing weight there might only be possible for those strong-willed:) From the house you can admire a beautiful view of the Ohrid lake. The sandy road by the house leads you up the beautiful mountain, where you can hike and enjoy other breathtaking views.

What a relaxing stay! Warm and loving hosts, delicious food and clean rooms. Will never forget our stay here and Anita and Risto’s hospitality. Great view from the terrace. A lot of hiking options right around.

We had a wonderful stay at Risto's guest house and would certainly recommend it as a great base for exploring around lake Ohrid. ||||The guest house is in a village a few miles out of the town with fantastic views over the lake. The owners are really friendly and speak excellent English which allowed us to learn much more about the local area and country. Our room was clean and comfortable, the food was excellent with very generous servings and the homemade wine was far too drinkable.||||We were made to feel very welcome, which really contributed to us having a great stay in Macedonia.||||The prices were very reasonable and I'd love to return again, someday.

Anita, the host and her husband were friendly, generous and authentic. The apartment was perfect in every way for a family of 4, in a convenient location and in a welcoming village atmosphere. The cooked food and breakfasts were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend the guest house every time.
