Ritas Hotel

I recently stayed at a hotel near Hikkaduwa Beach with my family and had a great experience overall. Rooms: The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like complimentary bottled water, toiletries, and a mini-fridge. The air conditioning worked well, which was a big plus in the tropical heat. Some rooms even offered a stunning view of the ocean, which made the stay even more special. Service: The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. From check-in to check-out, they were always ready to help with a smile. Room service was prompt and efficient, and the housekeeping staff did a great job keeping everything neat and tidy. They were also helpful in arranging tours and recommending local places to eat. Our room was rather dirty and we had a small fridge in the room which was definitely unusable because it was completely covered with mold. Also, the restaurant was a bit disappointing. I had ordered coffee and was served a yellow-ish, transparent liquid with brown crumbs inside (at first I thought they mistook my order for tea). Food was okay but definitely overpriced. On the good side, the location is amazing since it is right at the beach. Also the staff was friendly.

I've been staying at Rita's since Rita was still alive and opened the place on the surfing beach, then as a guest house, in 1983. It's been my home away from home in Hikkaduwa, where I was absorbed studying the fascinating Devil Dance healing belief system, more times than I can count. The amazing thing is that many of the people who were there in the beginning are still there, like Arith who has been serving me Lion Lager all that time. So, naturally, everyone has become good friends. They're great, natural, good people with warm, generous hearts and run an excellent operation. For example, on this last trip we didn't have to leave the hotel until 7:30pm because of a 1:00AM flight and they let us stay in our room at no extra charge all that last day. Of course, we'll be back, and look forward to it. It's home. |

Stayed here almost 3 weeks. Two familyrooms at the topfloor. Nice,clean with ac||and a spectacular view along the coast! Beds were so inviting!||Staff is like a family! Our grandsons, twins, were treated so nice! They are 8. We have already booked to go back this winter! But then we like 3 rooms: all family this time!||Perfect for all kind of visiters! One of the best hotels in Hikkaduwa and we have visited this island since 1972!!!

The room with sea view is OK, Kettle in the room but not possible to plug it so there's no tea nor water. The worst part was the restaurant: TERRIBLE. We got two different fishes boiled with some ketchup on top, chips were brown with black stains, white rice, just out of the rice cooker, dry and tasteless. Disgusting meal in a dirty ambient. I'm glad we just stay one night only.

Didn’t stay at the hotel but the restaurant is definitely below average. Prices are alright but I had to wait 30 minutes for some fruit salad and also the food was being brought to patrons by a severely coughing elderly waiter who didn’t cover his mouth or wash his hands

A very nice and relaxed place right near the beach. The entry to the hotel is from the main road, however after the rooms, behind there is a shack which leads to the beach, so it was just perfect. The restaurant served decent food. Rooms were neat, clean, well maintained. The service was good.

Accommodation wasn't very comfort quite dirty and old sink and toilet. Door to the bath didn't lock and close at all. No wifi inside the room only in the restaurant near. We was in room only with fan but fan was very noisy. On anti mosquito net was someone blood. Moreover I cut my finger on the leg of coral reefs that is in front of this hotel. There are surf rent and school near but instead of care about safety they case about money. They know about coral reefs tell about it but forbid to go to another place. NEVER SURF IN FRONT OF THIS HOTEL it is DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH. In that day I and another man get injured of reefs.
