Mishmash
On the recommendation of a friend, I took my wife to dinner at Ritmo Kitchen and Lounge. Where do I start... we went early evening for dinner and the restaurant was pretty quiet. It's eclectic for sure. Bar at the far end, TV's everywhere showing sport's, like a sports bar, Mishmash decor on the walls, some sort of attempt to mix in a high-end feel. LED candles on the tables. So dark we could barely read the menu.
Let's talk about the food, I ordered the Rib-Eye steak dinner with garlic fries and my wife ordered the New York steak dinner with a house salad. Dinner comes with asparagus and your choice of a second side.
I had an Old Fashon and my wife had (2) Expresso Martini's. FYI: cocktail menu has no prices listed for their drinks and we shared a desert.
Bill: $177.00 dollars without tip!
Rib-eye steak is known to be a fatty cut of meat... understood however, the 16oz Rib-eye steak I received was about 1/2 fat and very tuff. It didn't even look like the lifter was attached (the best part). The asperges was cold and way overcooked. My fries also came out cold and had sooo much garlic seasoning I couldn't eat them.
My wife's NY steak was overcooked and one of the tuffest steaks she's ever been served. Her asperges was the same as mine, cold and extremely overcooked.
Ritmo serves their steaks on large cutting boards. These things take up so much room on the table. We had to reach over our food eveytime we wanted to grab our drinks. I don't know how old these cutting board are but they are so worne small partials of wood come off and sticks to your steak. I attached a close-up picture. If you have ever used a wooden cutting board for an extended amount of time you know what I'm talking about.
After taking our order our waitress only came by our table once right after our food was served. We hadn't even tasted anything at that point. During dinner I saw what might have been the Chef walking from table to table talking to other customers but he never came by our table.
Normally I would have expressed my dissatisfaction with the wait staff and would have asked to speak to a manager but I didn't. It was New Year's Eve and we were out for a date night. I let it go...
I do not recommend Ritmo. The steaks and produce we were served were very poor quality. At almost $200 dollars there are much better places in Bakersfield to have dinner!
