I had a great time at the Ritz, the venue is beautiful and the seating was so comfortable. It really makes a difference being able to properly relax and enjoy the film without fidgeting halfway through. The only part that let the experience down a little was the food. I ordered a sausage roll and unfortunately, it had been microwaved rather than baked or reheated in an oven. That meant the pastry was soft and the filling kept falling out when I picked it up, which made it a bit tricky (and messy) to eat. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of. That said, everything else was excellent and I’ll absolutely be back. Great atmosphere, comfy seats, and an overall lovely night out.

Google
Love the atmosphere here, we watched the reshowing of pulse (only one my brother wanted to see). Before the movie a ghost doll declared him the winner of a pulse DVD set, very nice very nice, that ghosts a real one. Recommend this place.

Google
Great theater, friendly staff and great selection of drinks and food while you wait. Popcorn is cooked with coconut oil which is so much better than canola oil. My only complaint is that I wish the seats could recline more in the theater, but still worth the value!

Google
My favourite movie theatre in Sydney. Unchanged from when I first started visiting back in 2003. And the cheap Tuesdays are the best as well as regular retro screenings of many classics. The atmosphere and decor is comfort food for true cinema goers. I love watching movies here.

Nice cozy cinema. Lots of food options around. Only thing I would say is staff need to communicate a bit better about the parking and validating the ticket or even have a sign where you collect the exit ticket to scan. There were so many older people who were finding it challenging to pay at the machine. We figured it out then were helping out as we could. Exit was backed up with some stuck at the exit gate, not knowing what they had to do. You could see ladies were very stressed on being stuck and vehicles being backed up behind them.

I've never set foot in a better cinema anywhere. It has bars, comedy nights and live music as well as films. It's also beautifully restored in an art Deco style. You can just go for a drink and sit on the balcony if you wish. Superlative and good value!

Google
It’s was simply impossible to miss the Final Tom Cruise Mission on the big screen and we’re better than at Randwick Ritz? This classy retro Cinema is everything you can ask for in a cinema and more, I only wish they had live shows and music there to complement the bar area. Enjoy a night on the Ritz! And thanks Tom for all the brilliant stunts, action and saving the day 1000 times over! This message may self….💥

Google
Beautiful cinema 🎥. Highly recommend for night out. The facilities are clean. Good service. Very good selection of beers 🍻 and wines 🍷 in the bar🍸 . Very appealing ambience- feels like you are in 70th probably

Yelp
It's a nice Cinema (and the multi-level viewing experience is exciting for those of us who don't get out much), but I can't be the only one who finds the idea of getting booze before/during a film odd. That's not a negative mind you - I've never had my ticket checked when attending and I suspect that's because the staff are partial to a bit of booze themselves! Recommended for students in particular given that they offer cheaper tickets.

Yelp
Very cute, small neighborhood movie theater. Best thing is that if you like them on Facebook, you can get the occasional movie for 8 bucks. Normally it's 13 which is decent compared to the city. It's an older theatre with a lot of charm and character. Located conveniently at the Spot in Randwick.

Yelp
Randwick Ritz deserves to be raved about, they are such a great Cinema. Australia officially has the most expensive movie ticket prices in the world, but not at the Ritz. The Ritz is substantially less expensive than every other Cinema I know of in Sydney. On top of that they offer even further discounts through Facebook. Going to the movies is one of my favourite pleasures and due to Randwick Ritz not being excessively greedy I can afford to go regularly. Also the Randwick Ritz offers a great selection of films they have a really wide mix of commercial and art house films, so there really is something for everyone. I just went and saw the new Ryan Gosling film "Drive" which is an arty little action noir film and I didn't have to spend an arm and a leg. Keep it up Randwick Ritz, more cinemas should follow your example.

Yelp
The Ritz is something of an institution around Randwick. The cinema is still housed in its original heritage listed art-deco styled building, built from the ground up to be an art house cinema. With the new addition of a bar on the upper level, you'll feel comforted by the mod-coms that have been added over the years. Located in The Spot, Randwich, hidden away form the hustle of the city, and crowds of Bondi Junction, this place is a pleasant change from the crows that suffocate cinemas around Sydney. The only problem with a heritage-listed building is that some of the theatres are on the small side, as they cannot be changed to accommodate the advances in technology, such as wider screens & megaplex seating. I find this quite humble, as each cinema isn't an absolute copy of the other cinema's within the complex. The main cinema, theatre 1 is the largest, and the others are slightly smaller. This also makes the prices more affordable, especially on Tuesdays where it's $8.00 per ticket, which really makes a night out!

Yelp
Do you remember when cinemas used to have a little more heart and soul - almost like they were spaces for creative expression instead of massive 3D Dolby explode your mind with Spidernan 6? Now I'm definitely not dissing advancements in technology - as a filmmaker I'm grateful for them.... it's just I don't love walking into a space which feels like a carbon copy of another space.... and mass cincemas feel like exactly that.... So, if you are wanting to find a more "old school" experience, I can recommend Ritz Cinema. this two story cinema space feels like the "good ole days" PLUS their prices are a lot more reasonable. Adults $13 or on Tuesdays $8.... doesn't that feel a little bit better than some of the other prices you pay? Upstairs there is also a bar, so if you feel like a little beverage before the film or want to analyse post screening you can chill upstairs with a glass of vino and become your own cinematic critic. I do love going here - it always feels like a more meaningful experience. So if you are going to see a movie in the Eastern Suburbs, why not support a local which seems to sincerely care about cinema?

Yelp
First point, booze in the cinema without paying for Gold Class ticket prices! Excellent! 2nd point, this really is a classic cinema. The main screen has 2 tiers, not something you see much anymore. Obviously, most people don't really care about the architecture of the building that they're watching their movie in, but there is something quite cool about going to a cinema that looks like how you imagine a cinema should look, as opposed to the characterless multiplex that we're so used to nowadays. You'll also save a few dollars compared to a trip to Event or Hoyts with standard adult tickets costing $13 ($8 on Tuesdays). It may be lacking a little in certain areas - the sound and picture aren't quite as impressive as the big chains, but what it lacks in that respect (and to be fair, it's tricky to really tell unless you're a regular cinema goer) it definitely makes up for in its nostalgic experience of cinemas long gone!

Yelp
Alright let's get the cost factor out of the way first...because I don't want you to think I favour Ritz just because of its affordable ticket prices or that I don't have to go to the police report after being robbed $20 for soft drinks and pop corn. No, I like Ritz because it's not a cinema, it's a movie theatre *swoon* The old Art Deco building and interior gives it an arty vibe without being wankerish, the staff are polite, the place is clean, and fine, it's bloody cheap too. It's a great for dates as well as a quiet movie on your own.

Yelp
Being a former Eastern suburbs gal this was (and still is) my cinema of choice. Retaining its beautiful Art Deco exterior and interior, the Ritz even has a beautiful Art Deco bar upstairs. Parking can be a bit of a pain, if you're lucky you can get on street parking down the road, however there is also a parking lot next door. Be sure to let them know in the cinema that that's where you've parked - as you will receive a $5 discount! There's also a plethora of restaurants to eat at before heading inside! Tickets here are definitely cheaper than any of the cinema chains like Hoyts and Event (adult $14, concession $12), and by watching a film here you support small business. All in all it's a great place!

Yelp
This is a lovely art Deco cinema! I think the other reviews have said it all so ill just give some good tips!, Cinema 1 is the Original cinema and absolutely Gorgeous! with original styled lighting fittings and ornate all around and is the biggest screening room. Cinema's 2-3-4-5 are all new and a bit smaller but still nice and have good sound. I wouldn't recommend seeing films in cinema 6 as its quite a small screen but I guess it would be nice to hire out for a birthday with friends! as its very intimate. Another tip: see Films on Tuesdays! its cheaper, and have a look on the ritz cinema website as some films usually after a week or so they have a promotion if you "Like" them on Facebook mention that at the box office and its $8 tickets! here's the link! Yelp
Few cinemas still retain that overwhelming scent of popcorn and romance as the Ritz in Randwick. Situated in idyllic "The Spot" - a villagey nook of restaurants, cafes and shops in the heart of Randwick, the Ritz stands proud like an old tree that has lived the area's history for the longest time. The larger cinemas have an upstairs area that feels like a theatre box. While the other cinemas are small and obviously from a by-gone era, you'll forgive this for the place's overall charm. Give me the Ritz over the brash, oversized multiplexes any day. Ticket prices are very reasonable and the crowd is a mixture of locals and visitors from nearby suburbs. The Ritz is an institution that hopefully lives on for many more decades to come.

Yelp
Lovely old art-deco style cinema. Not as lush or grand as the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace in Cremorne, but very nice. The seats seem a bit smaller and shorter than most, but it wasn't uncomfortable. I was here for a showing of the remastered version of Jaws, and the digital picture - and especially the sound - were incredible. Located right in the midst of a large number of excellent pre- or post-film eating options, too.

Yelp
The Randwick Ritz is a delightful, family run cinema that has been around since 1937. It feels so cosy compared the massive, over air-conditioned, slick cinema complexes in most Westfields. I particularly love the low quality, PowerPoint slide style ads that circulate before each feature film. I enjoy how crappy they are, especially the strange shoot em' up ad about switching off your mobile phone. Ticket prices are much less that mainstream theatres, and if you like them on Facebook they have regular $8 ticket deals to selected movies for their fans. Possibly the best thing about the Ritz is it's location! You can grab drinks, a tasty bite to eat or a dessert treat at any number of eateries before or after your movie in the vibrant 'Spot'.

Yelp
What a nice and homey cinema! They show all the main movies at a cheaper price. Additionally, this cinema is located with many restaurants around if you would like to eat before or after the film. They have a small car park which costs a few dollars to park. They have a bar on the upper level and the usual place to buy some snacks etc. They have an excellent deal too to buy 10 tickets for $100 - making it cheap to go to the movies! It's like cheap Tuesday every day! :)

Yelp
I go to the Ritz a lot and wow its amazing, the style and sense is spot on.the midnight screenings also are amazing lots of cosplay and prizes. And they host the Sydney film festival.I am film buff which the ritz makes it the best to be a movie buff.I hope the Ritz stay as it is because its amazing.

Yelp
My favourite movie theatre. It's in such a nice little area at The Spot with heaps of very affordable restaurants. The movie tickets are also the cheapest I've seen in Sydney for an adult. Can't believe movie prices these days! Next door is a awesome Italian restaurant and right opposite is a Spanish restaurant....how can you go wrong??
google avatar

Yelp
This week the major chains put their prices up to $20! I thought that couldn't be right but I haven't been to a major cinema change in ages. The ritz is a cinema that is from a previous era, and that is in a good way. I really enjoy going here there are great restaurants nearby and parking on the street is ok you might have a walk but it's free, though some people use the paid parking nearby. Some of the restaurants have dinner and movie deals too.

Yelp
Best place for cinemas near Kingsford. Situated centrally and close to the Spot at Randwick. They've got good snacks packages too, with beer and wine.

Yelp
This quaint cinema is a great reminder of how things used to be and definitely a much different experience from a giant IMAX or Cineplex with Senstadium seating. Great customer service and different events on now and then.

Yelp
Randwick Ritz was built in 1937 and is lucky to be standing this day. The divine deco building has had a tumultuous history that narrowly missed its end only a few years ago. Placards lined the streets of Randwick in support for this vintage establishment and finally, through perseverance it is safely labelled as Heritage Listed. What a disaster that would be, if this historical hub of culture was lost to the developers. Well, thank fully we are blessed by its old world presence. The golden glow from the light globes shimmer as you enter the low ceilinged building. Of course there are all the accoutrements that pair with cinema going today, like popcorn and choc tops, however you could visit the bar upstairs for a wine if that tickles your fancy. Consider yourself fortunate indeed if your movie session is in the original Ritz cinema. It was renovated in 1996 and has a balcony overlooking the old seats. I have only seen one movie in here and it was a special experience. You really do feel that frisson that entertainment gives you. The curtains opening, the lights dimming and the expectation of something magical about to happen, no matter what era you may be in. *They hire out cinemas for functions as well as for filming of film, TV and commercials.

Yelp
Wonderful old Art Deco cinema. I visited several times when staying in Sydney in 1990, it's wonderful that it's still running as it's such a non-corporate breath of fresh air.

Yelp
Love this little independent cinema, it's so old school and beautiful! The coffee is great (which you can purchase and bring into the movie with you) and the movie tickets are less expensive than your big chain cinemas.

Ken M.

Yelp
One of my favorite cinemas! More like a Movie Theater! It has real character and is enjoyable to be in and around even before your film. It shows lots of the block-buster movies but also runs many smaller art-house movies as well. It seems to be technically sound with good screen images and sound. While its cheaper than the Village or Hoyts multiplexes that are so dominant now, it is also so much nicer. Its location is brilliant, with countless restaurants 2 minutes' walk and while it has its own bar upstairs I tend to go across the road to Bat Country for a drink before or after a show.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Fantastic independent cinema, its very old-school and beautiful. The ticket prices are the best around, I much prefer coming her than the big westfield cinemas.
