I have been a seasonal at River Bay for almost 20 years and while no campground or place is absolutely perfect for me. This is as close to perfect as it can get. We have all the amenities we need an office with very nice clothing and supplies, a bar and Grill with entertainment, and to me the best part about it is we’re right on the upper Dells Wisconsin River. The owners are very accommodating, which makes it a very nice place to stay whether you’re a weekend or or a seasonal.

Google
Bartenders extremely dismissive, Ordered food that takes two hours to get. Multiple tables served before us. When asked to cancel the order after waiting an hour and a half we were told we have to take it to go. This is not the first time thats happened to us as we’ve been there 5+ times. Terrible service.

Google
Horrible service 1. Showers don’t work, took all my quarters. 2. bartender service is bad. 3. People that work here are not nice. Overall experience do not recommend

Google
Good location not too far from town. Well equipped camp store. Clean bathrooms and clean pool at a great temperature. The bar/restaurant served tasty food. This campground is good for large groups who like to stay up late. The campsites are small and close together. If you are looking for a quiet serene camping experience in the woods, this isn’t for you. Come here for the party, not for an evening in nature.

Great accommodations. Friendly staff. Anything we needed was taken care of in a timely manner. Clean campground. Will definitely be back.

Google
worst worst worst experience ever. They gave us a lot that floods and is all mud! Every thing was mud. I walked around and everyone else was fine but our lot which i can see the knew it floods because they separated it with orange plastic. I complained and they couldn’t do anything. We left early it was so bad. Also the loud NOISE!! had the club on one side blasting music til 1 am and other campers on the other side just as loud as the bar singing in microphones screaming and being so loud. I tried calling the office. I cannot imagine I paid to have this experience . They need to offer discount or something because you’re running a business and you cant treat paying customers like this!

We had a great time camping here!! All the staff is so nice and helpful the fish fry was absolutely delicious! The band on Saturday night was pretty fantastic too. We met lots of fun people and we will 💯 be back! Such a fun place and the campers we all so super friendly too

Google
Pros: the food at the bar was handmade, not dumped out of a bag into a fryer. Cons: everything else. A sign above the bar proclaims, "I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either." That sums up their approach to customer service. From the rudeness of the staff to a cabin that was equipped with a coffee maker but no mugs, this place just got worse at every turn. The beds were miserably uncomfortable. There was no way to plug in a CPAP machine near the bed. Our cabin had mice and spiders because it hadn't been swept thoroughly in some time. I don't mind bringing my own linens but wish they would have said to bring mugs, dish soap, and everything else too. This is definitely a place that caters to seasonal campers (they seemed like they were having fun -- good for them) and treats overnighters as a nuisance. Look, we are seasoned campers and we know we're not getting the Ritz Carlton for these rates. And I have to say, their prices were reasonable given the location and season. But large political signs behind the check-in counter signal that some kinds of people are not welcome here. Do you want my money or not? It's a stupid business move to alienate half of your potential clientele by posting your politics. We checked out early and ate the loss. Next time, I'll go somewhere that appreciates my business.

Yelp
Me and the family had a lot of fun at resorts and the boat which picked us up right off the pier by our camp, but the workers aren't very nice. A lady worker was confused about our time to leave and wasn't the nicest and she never apologized. The camp ground is over all is alright but the showers aren't the cleanest and some are ice cold.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! Great staff. Super clean. Great little bar with awesome food. Fun entertainment going on all the time. Nice pool and game room. Stuff for the kids to do. Love it. We will be back!!!!!!

Yelp
We are a seasonal holder for 4 years now and this will be our last. Enjoyed it for the first three. It is definitely a "party" campground and that's ok because we enjoy the people and the activity. But recently there is an a obnoxious goofball in the middle of it all that plays music so loud it can be heard across most of the seasonal area. I generally expect some rowdiness, and it's part of the fun, but this is too much. Time to go.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst experience ever. First we made reservations and were told the rate was $47 per night. Sounds normal. Once we got there and we told them we had 3 kids, we were then told the rate was $77 per night even though we were all staying in the same camper. Then we got to listen to golf carts racing each other all night until about 1 am. The next day we tried renting a boat. We had a reservation from 1:30-5:30 for 4 hours. At about 11:45, the owner of the campground came to our site and asked if we would like to take an earlier slot right away. We said yes. We then find out they don't actually rent the boats. They have a nearby campground do it. So the other campground picks us up in the boat. We then find out that we could only have the boat for 2 hours instead of the contracted 4 hours. When I got back, I went back into the office and asked for half of my money back seeing I got half the time. Of course nobody could help me and they told me the owner would call me. She never called. We then got to listen to extremely loud karaoke music until 2:00 am. This campground could care less about the campers. It was pretty obvious the reputation it has seeing hardly anybody was there camping. It is all about the seasonal local people who drink way too much. The bar business is all they care about. If you want to watch locals get hammered, sing really bad/loud and race golf carts into the night, this place is for you. If you want to take your family camping, go to Holiday Shores across the river. I have now tried calling back to talk to the owner about the refund they owe me. The woman on the phone was very rude and told me they are gone for the day. Like I said, the owners could care less about you unless you are spending money in their bar. I will be disputing the charge on my credit card in the morning.

Yelp
Avoid this "campground" if you can. I am staying here now and although me & my friends' site was further from the bar & grill the most - I still can't fall asleep at midnight due to the loud bass emanating from the bar/club. The staff/workers are absolutely ridiculous and charge exorbitant fees for absolutely NOTHING. $0.25 for a 4-minute shower for e.g. Don't say I didn't warn you after your experience if you fail to heed these words.

Yelp
The first problem with this campground is the cost. It is very expensive to begin with and everything costs extra! My large group of friends have camped here multiple times and we overcame this price obstacle because this campground advertises its Adult Camp Sites for large groups such as bachelor/bachelorette parties and no curfew. Our first time coming here was a great experience. We had a few other sites join our party at night and everyone had a great time! Unfortunately our most recent stay with River Bay was horrible and we will not be returning. We had a late night playing games, listening to music and having fun! Half the people at our site were neighbors from other sites that wanted to join in on the fun. We eventually got asked to quiet down and we instantly turned off our radio and happily quieted down, the neighbors went back to their own sites, and everyone went to bed soon after that. We didn't think there were any problems. Then the next day the entire staff of the campground would NOT let us here the end of it! They threatened to kick us out and said we couldn't make any noise after 11pm. Everyone was very rude to us and we did not feel welcome. We were asked to leave the bar area, we got kicked out of the volleyball courts because they were next to the bar and we were not paying for drinks at the bar (even though half of the people in our group WERE drinking bar drinks). There was a very nice maintenance worker that was chatting with us and the owner of the campground drove by and yelled at him and told him not to talk to us. Our group spent over $1,000 at this campground for the weekend and yet were constantly being yelled at for loitering and not supporting their business. I would not recommend River Bay to anyone after this experience.

Yelp
This campground is by far the worst I have stayed in. These campground owners do NOT deserve a single penny from any customer. My family has been staying in this campsite for many years and each time we go, the older woman wearing glasses behind the counter is the definition of rude, vile and racist. I called about three weeks ago to make a reservation for my parents and their two friends since they are not very fluent in English. I told the woman on the phone that there was a possibility of them renting an additional site and she said it was perfectly fine to add it once they arrive on the date, as a matter of fact, she convinced me to do it this way. She said there was no obligation for the additional site and that they can decide once they got there. My parents get there this past weekend without needing the additional site after all and not only are they not greeted whatsoever but the woman was cold and unresponsive towards them and when they tell her that they aren't renting the additional site (as they were told it was ok not to), she immediately starts to verbally attack, accuse and yell at them because of it! She was forcing them to pay for the unused site, when clearly, I was told there wouldn't be any obligation or problem. My 5 yr old daughter was there as well as other small children and this awful woman did not care about loudly and unashamedly berating my parents about the site in front of them and other customers. The rude woman finally simmers down when my mom tries defending herself and my family with the minimal English she knows and minutes later, a caucasian family walks in and the woman warmly greets them and tells them to "enjoy their stay". If this is not racism, then my name is Abraham Lincoln. I also asked to get the campsites farthest away from the pool and loud, drunkard bar and even if they promised I would get the ones I asked for (because hey, $50 a damn night in this place should at least be worth it), I get dumped on the sites RIGHT NEXT to the pool. Thanks River Bay, for ruining our Wis Dells trip. You have PERMANENTLY lost what was once loyal customers and got yourselves a bad and honest review. You truly earned it for the horrendous way you treat non-English fluent customers. We are not in the 40's anymore you old hag with glasses. Either grow up or continue to injure your own business. P.s I'm not surprised River Bay also confiscated their free Chula Vista entrance as well as not allowing customers to bring up drinks and food on to the Princess Kay boat, like they used to. Now they have also resorted to pointing guns at customers for not handing them over money for unused sites. Shows that this place is starting to go downhill.

Yelp
This is by far one of the worst campgrounds I have ever been to. In terms of the actual campground and the area, it's pretty nice. In terms of every other aspect of this establishment, it is a complete waste of money (and a lot of it too). First and foremost, the people who run this place aren't very bright. Processing the simplest of tasks took ages. Getting a group campsite took several very irritating phone calls. Mostly to correct mistakes that they had made. They also charge you for everything, including 25 cents for a 3 minute shower. It's also over $40 dollars per person. They told us that we had a 'really good' slip for our boat. Turns out that wasn't true due to the whole dock was falling apart with no signs of maintenance. Another major complaint is the fact that they will rent a golf cart to anybody. That doesn't sound to bad until you have a bunch of drunk A-holes blasting through your campsite at 2:30 in the morning blaring their horn and screaming. Sounds great right? All-in-all, there are at least a dozen far superior campsites in the Dells than this one. Do yourself and everyone you are going to be camping with a favor and stay far, far away from this place.

Yelp
My wife and I both grew up in WI and have been camping many times and in many locations around the Midwest. On this occasion she wanted to go camping in the Dells for her birthday and her family was also coming. After doing some looking we decided to find campsites with a water front view. We found the River Bay Campsites and one other; River bay had a reported 'adult' only section. The photographs of the "adult" only section in the water front area looked really nice with a view of the river and so we booked our 2 night stay. This is where we should have had our 1st indication things were not going to occur without incident. They required a credit card payment of either the full amount or half now and EXACT cash for the other half on arrival. They could not take credit card, check or anything other then exact cash with change at the camp site. We paid in full by credit card for 2 campsites. Upon arriving we found out the only real showers and bathrooms are at the main entrance, no where near the tent campsites and they charged for showers. The staff was friendly enough, however, did not listen to a thing we said as we kept mentioning we were from WI and they kept saying how nice it was we could visit WI from Chicago. We have never lived in Chicago or Illinois. Then they drove us back to our water front campsite. This is were we realized we had been sold a fake bill of goods. First of all,the campsites are very small and packed in like sardines. The only saving grace was that most of the sites were empty. Had they been full we would have left immediately since we have no desire it feel like we're camping in a row home. 2nd, the water front view.... They should have shown a picture of a heavily wooded bank over looking and right near a large public marina. The public docks were 50 feet from the river bank and ran the length of the 'river front' campsites. 3rd, our campsite and most that we could see, had large areas of sand, dead grass and mud. This is likely due to the tiny campsites forcing people to camp and park in the same areas killing all the grass. 1 of our 2 campsites was a giant mud and sand pit. It was unusable. Fortunately our 2nd campsite had enough grass we were able to setup an 8 person tent for EVERYONE in our group to use. We made do with this and everything continued fairly well. There was 1 occupied campsite next to us and several across the road in the center circle of our area. Once night came our troubles began.... Our site/area was one of the farthest from the bar. Yes, the campground has a bar. Never again... despite being one of the farthest campsites away, probably 150 yards, we could clearly hear the karaoke from the bar well past 1 am. That was only a small portion of the troubles. The campsites in the middle of our areas circle decided to relive their drunken beer pong wild frat parting days and invited other campers from somewhere else to join in the absurdity. Needless to say they partied, screamed, shouted, and 'played' until 6 am. It was so loud a campsite by the bar (150 yards away) also complained. Needless to say, we could not sleep and can tell you about every conversation they had including those about the men and women that were already passed out from being overly intoxicated. They also somehow got a hold of a golf cart and drove it around with reckless drunken abandon to the point we were waiting for one of them to hit one of our cars. As the party ended they agreed to meet for round 2 the next night. At 1 am we attempted to call the front desk to complain. As expected we got a voicemail that had an emergency phone number which we called 3 times. Each time it went directly to voicemail and did not leave any other emergency numbers to call. After not sleeping for the night my wife went to the front desk. The people there did not care we had not slept and were upset. They did inform us quiet hours were from either 10pm or 11pm to 8 am. They were not sure when it started and nowhere was it listed, we looked. They cared more about how the drunken group got a hold of golf cart and even asked us how they got it... as though we would know how a group of heavily drunken obnoxious strangers got it. They were also very upset we called the emergency number and told us we were not supposed to be calling that number. If that's not the emergency number and goes directly to voicemail then why is it listed.... we were told we should have contacted the BAR and asked for the owner. This information was listed nowhere and aside from being psychic we never would have figured this out. Also, we were told the front desk staff could not do anything about this other than take the report. The owner would have to deal with this. She also explained that if it was not resolved the 2nd night we would be calling the local police number and having them deal with the issue since the staff and owner could not be bothered.

Yelp
I just finished up staying here and loved it. The cabin I stayed in was perfect for what I needed. The staff was wonderful and the bar and grill was a blast with good food. My son enjoyed the pool and play ground and I enjoyed being able to relax and watch him play. I will definitely come back again next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Campers beware!!! This campground seems nice on the website but has several flaws! Not family friendly - quiet hours start at 11pm and are NOT enforced. When we inquired about who to talk to at 1am when several campers were loud, spewing profanities, and revving their jet ski engines, we were told to "call the main number." There was no one there after 11pm to take care of the noise issues. They also market something we tried called "buddy sites." This is a GIMMICK! Basically, the campsite is big enough for 2 tents. It is NOT 2 sites that back up to each other. We paid for 2 sites and it was actually ONE large site. This place is dirty. The dumpsters need to be replaced as they smell horrible and we could not escape the odor. There was broken glass and garbage all over our site. They had bathrooms that were closed due to vandalism so we had to walk to the main bathhouse. And of course, the showers were not free. Finally, we had items stolen here. The clientele this place attracts is not good - there were drunk people circling the campground roads calling for a "bar crawl" at 1am! We were not the only ones who had something stolen at their campground this weekend!!! 2 other people reported stolen items! Campers beware!
