Out the front desk manager and also I think you’re the owner was excellent. Explain to you that just acquired the hotel and hopefully by next year it’ll be fully remodeled, especially the second floor. We are in room 130 and we loved it a few little things of the maintenance man should do And also I used to work at hotel and Blitzen the room you know help out a lot fix little things a man for big things but other than that breakfast is excellent housekeeping was excellent. Front desk and managers were excellent and we will be coming back and the pool was excellent. Thank you.

Excellent location. Rooms are clean, pillows comfy, our mattress was memory foam, some worn items in the room. Nice restaurants within walking distance. Microwave and fridge in the rooms. Pools has some chairs, loungers and 2 unbrellas. Friendly staff.

Well..after 20+ years of being a regular customer of this establishment for our visits to Colonial Beach. We ended that run this weekend. After many years of staying here and several ownership changes. I must say our last visit over the holiday weekend will be the last here. To our sadness and with the new ownership it has gone completely in the wrong direction. We booked our room over a month ago on the bottom floor and received the email confirmation. ( Husband has had multiple hip surgeries) and it's hard to go up and down the stairs. A few days before our arrival the owner called my husband and said that the room we had reserved had been flooded and he moved us to a room upstairs because numerous rooms were damaged and couldn't be used.|We weren't happy with it but since it was so close to the Holiday, everything else was booked. He also chose to charge us over what we normally paid X 2. We had been loyal customers for over 20 years. Anyway, we arrive and are told he hotel is booked full. Upon arriving I noticed immediately that the hotel looked less clean than normal. I was not the only one noticing this. But here we were.. We proceed to our room which was still being vacuumed by the cleaning staff which she was very friendly and overwhelmed because they are short on staff. ( Not her fault) Room was clean, but lobby and outside definitely were not as they were before. There was trash, trash cans full, stuff on the ground, food on the lobby floor in the mornings, no one bothered to pick up smashed butter on the floor, the breakfast is a quarter of what it used to be and the prices for the rooms are double.|It's clear the new owners are not up to par on cleanliness. Anyway as I'm sitting outside at a table the next morning, leftover crab on the table from someone, flys everywhere. Looking for a clean place to sit and drink my coffee, a car with handicap plates pulls up to lobby. She was going in for breakfast. And the parking placard hanging from her rearview mirror has the room number that we had reserved. Yes, she had been given our room and we were lied to. I confirmed with her that yes she was in room 124. The owner had lied to us. She said she booked her room online and she was charged $109 through booking.com. The new owner proceeded to charge us $349.00 !!!!! What appears to be happening now is low staff, less breakfast, less care with the hotel itself, dirtier surroundings and a owner that cares less about hospitality and more about the money. Long story short..if you want to overpay, be underwhelmed and pick up the trash left laying around and listen to people arguing and loud music, marijuana smell in the hallways, Many customers that have been coming there for years are truly disappointed . Don't normally complain, but just wanted people to know the atmosphere before plunking down all their hard earned money.

Well we came back again, while under new ownership. Arthur was great! We had a nice room, with all amenities. He was very pleasant as was our stay. We will be returning as we spend alot of time with friends! Thanks again Arthur! OMG!!! Had an amazing time in Colonial Beach. But, the best was during my check in at River Edge Inn. Sam the new owner was absolutely 💯 % professional, accommodating and friendly! He made sure we had a Waterview of the beach, he made surethat we had everything we needed for our stay. It’s perfect location to everything at CB. The rooms are definitely outdated, but the beds were very fresh smelling and clean. The management was very helpful and polite.

The Person at the front Desk lied to me and then lied to Priceline. Tried to say I canceled my reservation while I was standing in the lobby to check in. The Hotel also continued to charge my credit card, with no rooms available. Worst experience ever.

Stayed here for a birthday weekend with my family. The lady at the front desk was incredibly kind and even recommended some restaurants in town and told us places to avoid with the kid. The rooms were dated, but overall pretty clean and definitely well appointed. The location was excellent RIGHT on the end of the boardwalk area with gorgeous views just outside our room. Definitely a budget option, but the breakfast was nice, the rooms were clean and the service was second to none.

Right on river and they allow anyone to use the parking lot. Rooms were overy humid and musty. Bedding was dirty. Flies everywhere in room. Fridge did not cool at all. Water pipes made alot of noise.

Property needs major renovation. Moldy ceiling tiles and old carpet. I ready don't want to be mean. Lovely town and this could be a gem. Closed pool was still full of filthy water should be drained.

This place is in real need of a facelift. It is a little dated and run down. The breakfast is awful. It does however have a great location right on the beach. It is the best hotel in town, but that is just because all the other ones are even worse. We have stayed here many times because there is really no other options and we dearly love Colonial Beach. I really wish someone would buy this hotel and give it a good going over, it has a lot of potential.

Cleaning lady started rushing us off as soon as we woke up. Complained about my dog, that we paid for to be there. Refered to a member of my party as a "fat b#$@h with her "n" word kids". She also pulled a razor out as if to threaten my daughter in law, because she voiced her displeasure. When the owner was informed, there was nothing but denial and gas lighting. My kids grew up in this town. This hotel is a blemish not a blessing

I was impressed with this clean, efficient hotel. The corridors were spotless, the room was tidy and pretty much immaculate. The registration was a breeze and the small lobby had seating for breakfast served from 6-9:30. There's a cooler with free ice for guests and also stocked with frozen treats. We were given an extra key, no probs. The pool area was spacious with tables, umbrellas and Adirondack plastic chairs. There were only a few other guests at the poolside which was nice but they could use a couple more lounge chairs. I counted 4. Plenty of Parking and gorgeous views of the Potomac. Lovely stay.

This place doesn't even deserve one star! Not only did we have to cut our stay short due to me getting an eye infection from the bacteria in the pool, but since coming home the end of July, we discovered that we brought bedbugs home with us. So now we need to spend $1500.00 to have our home exterminated! I would never recommend this place to anyone!

It was nice to spend a relaxing long weekend in a clean place next to the ocean, close to the good restaurants, ice cream shop, etc.

I can't believe I haven't left a review for this place yet. We have been staying here over the past three or four years. Most years we stay at least two times (when we don't rent a cottage). The owners and staff at this motel are super sweet. If there is something you need, they help out. The rooms are spacious and clean. The mattresses are the most comfy I've experienced at any hotel. The outdoor pool area is the best! We prefer the first floor rooms which open directly onto to parking lot. The second floor rooms are accessed by stairways on each end of the building and have interior access doors. The complimentary breakfast in the lobby has plenty of fresh fruit, breakfast breads (bagels, muffins, etc), juices, yogurt, donuts and COFFEE!

I have been coming to this hotel for the last 17 years. It was previously owned by a nice older couple, but has changed hands. We stayed 2 nights. The room was clean and comfortable and they had a mini fridge and a microwave. It seemed however, that the new management was cutting corners to try to save money. The ice machine was broken and there were no plans to fix it. The cleaning lady was running around asking if anyone could give up their complimentary soap and shampoo because they were running so low. The next day she went from room to room asking the guests if they had any clean towels they weren't going to use because they were almost out of those. The pool there is very nice and there used to be large umbrellas there to provide guests shade while sitting at the pool. Those unfortunately have been removed. They still provide a complimentary breakfast, but the pickings are slim.

The bathroom is clean and nice i love the pool a d the rooms are big and the breakfast is good

My mother and I stayed at the River Edge Inn last night while visiting Colonial Beach, and it was lovely. The staff was super nice, and the room was very clean. We checked under the mattress and sheets, and it was spotless. They have a nice pool and a big crazy breakfast in the morning that inexplicably offers taquitos, French bread pizza, and chicken nuggets. Also it's right on the water!! Great hotel.

I recently stated here goer a short vacation by myself. The room was very nice and clean. I had an upper floor king room. Little did I know that I had to carry my own luggage and bags up a flight of stairs with no help'! No Elevator?! Also, there was no ice machine; you had to go down stairs to the lobby to get a small bag of ice! I thought that was a bit strange. The Continental Breakfast wasn't bad. Good selection. Including pop stickers and egg rolls. Staff was nice. Nice to be next to the River.

Simple, clean and probably the best continental breakfast I've ever experienced! I have a bad habit of going with the first thing I see, but after seeing all the different places I could've stayed at in Colonial Beach, VA., I knew we made the right choice. It was our first time in town and we were looking to stay the night. The hostess was helpful, friendly and honestly knowledgeable about where the best places to go eat. Our room was very clean, neat and well stocked. The beds has double pillows on each side and that's a huge plus. The pool outside was the best part! Huge, inviting, CLEAN and no trash or anything to take away from it. Sure, it wasn't on the riverfront, but who cares? Not only did it have umbrellas and chairs, but they had a huge picnic area next to it with plenty of seating covered by a huge pop up awning. Another added plus, the area had 3 grills and utensils that you can use!!! How cool is that?!? The next morning, check out was at 11am, but first breakfast. Their complimentary breakfast is awesome! Hard boiled eggs, French toast sticks, fruit, pre-cooked bacon and sausage, bagels, a variety of toast and so much more! Lots of coffee, 3 different juices and milk. My family was honest to God full when we were done. My wife and I were completely impressed. This was the best $131.00 we've ever spent for a night.

Brand new EVERYTHING! New furniture, mattresses, linens, carpet, and a gorgeous Front Desk lobby area. Take in a mold-free breath of new-hotel-scent, and soak up the small-town cuteness of Colonial Beach! This place has really turned itself around from its unpleasant past, and the new owners are working really hard to make it a really nice place to stay.

A/c was LOUD!!!! TV didn't work. We had to call the front 3 times and with each time they brought different remote controls. We left us with 1 or 3 different problems with each remote. Free breakfast was great. And the personnel was friendly and helpful.

I visited River Edge Inn for the second time, and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. You can't beat the location; it's just a few steps to the beach! This past summer, I took both my kids (2.5 year old and 9 month old) with my husband and parents - and we all had a wonderful time... you know, minus trying to get a toddler to sleep when she wants to eat ice cream at the beach. ;) I am already looking forward to next summer when I can take the kids again. Thanks to River Edge Inn, our family had a very memorable trip - our first as a family of four. Thank you REI!

I am highly unimpressed with my experience at River edge. I drove almost two hours to take my kids and their cousins who live locally to walk the beach and eat in the area and enjoy a mini vacation. Unfortunately it was ruined because my room smelled like mildew and there was water damage on the walls and ants in the bathroom. Tired from the drive we did not complain right away as the kids were also hungry so we left and walked the beach then returned to express our concerns. The beds were super hard like cardboard and the staff was unfriendly. The manager was rude and did not refund our stay. She complained about us not showing the first evening which was out of my control as priceline's website accidentally booked us for two nights. She told me that priceline said it was my fault when it was not. And didnt even offer a different/cleaner room to stay in. I asked to speak to someone above her and she said the earliest she could get back to me qould be tomorrow morning. I do not reccomend this hotel to anyone!

I had the pleasure off staying at this wonderful hotel at Colonial Beach. The staff were super friendly and the people in general were friendly. Our stay was awsome. Shout out to Shady Lane Tackle Shop. The crabs were beautiful. Shout out to Wilkersons Seafood restaurant. The fried platter was delicious and the frog legs too! Shot out to the Human Restaurant minutes away they took our order just as they were closing. We are returning very soon. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you Grechin for moving my date today. First time visiting Colonial Beach so we decided to stay here for LDW. It was a bit pricey for 2 nights, but I'm assuming it's cus of LDW, all hotel prices go up. We got a king size bedroom. When we opened our room we were welcomed with a blast of fresh ac since it was so hot outside. Everything was right in our room just wish there was an extra blanket in the cabinets. They have free breakfast early in the morning, they had bread, bagels, croissants, juice, coffee, cereal, and more. This hotel is literally right by the beach. I totally recommend this place if you're planning on visiting Colonial Beach.

The room was Narrow, the beds very hard, Pillows where plastic and the ones that weren't smelled of sweat. When we asked for them to change the pillows, staff came to room and argued that they did not smell... finally they came with new ones we could see through the window the staff carrying the pillows holding them to her body with one arm and smoking a cigarette with her other hand. just no! The next morning the "continental break" was 2 Egg's, Donuts ,Bacon (you cook youself) .... nothing was hot and no eggs... Just not a breakfast. The beach are in front of the hotel was quite enough but dirty. For the price of the hotel it was a let down. We have stayed at VA Beach's Sheraton for less.

I wish I could of been on here saying something positive but the staff is very rude. My family and I First Time staying here and yes the front desk lady is very nice there's a Chinese lady and Man they was super nice. The lady Mrs Kim very RUDE LIED ABOUT MY ROOM BEING MESY, said i was missing towels. For 380$ it is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT at all. Should of just slept on water. Please update your cleaning staff They all seem like they hate their job

The experience was great up until we tried to get fresh linen from the house keeping staff. Ms Kim told us we had to waite because the laundry wasn't done she has to give the linen she has a new reservation first. However i witnessed her get Fresh Linen to the room next to me that check in the same time i did. What ever you do DONT MAKE MS KIM MAD. Upon check out she said there was missing hand towel and bath towels and it resulted in an 60$ additional fee for linen. Her attitude towards us the rest of the stay was nasty and It made for and uncomfortable stay the last day. Now i wish i would of stayed some where else. Its crazy how one person can mess up your whole stay. She has a nasty attitude and i will never stay at this Hotel again. First vacation all summer long because of the pandemic and one person had to ruin it for my family. Over towels.

We stayed one night at the River Edge Inn. It's located right on the Potomac River in Colonial Beach, VA, which make's it an attractive location, except Colonial Beach is a little depressed as their boardwalk along the river is in need of repair. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was fully functional and satisfactory, and the cable TV service offered plenty of channels. The area around the Inn seems safe and there's plenty of parking. I didn't try their free Internet service and their complimentary breakfast was mostly made up of pastries. The value is good for the location!

I was here for over 4 weeks on a business trip. Well...this hotel made my very-long business trip seem like a mini-vacation each and every night and week-end! Being right on the water front, right by the boardwalk, and being walking distance from restaurants and bars was just awesome. The staff was amazing: everyone from Anita (the manager), to the cleaning ladies were incredibly helpful, and friendly. This is a family affair and I really felt right at home. I had zero problems with the room. It was always clean, comfortable and everything worked perfectly well. I didn't use the pool but really enjoyed the forth of July get together/Korean BBQ that Sue (the owner) organised for our team by the pool. Thanks again Sue :-) I really hope that I will be able to stay here if/when I come back to work in the area again! Thanks so much for everything guys!! I sure will miss you all (and that includes my buddy Bowser!!) Tip: ask for a room facing the street, they have better water views and they will not be on the side of the big lawn (where the city sometimes has fairs, festivals, amusement parks...). Also, the rooms on the second floor seemed nicer.

Front desk staff was AMAZING, housekeeper was very nice and prompt. Room was clean and comfortable. Was a bit disappointed to be assigned a room on 2nd floor when there were so many empty rooms on the first floor. This wouldn't even be a big issue until we had to lug all of our luggage up a set of stairs. The free breakfast was adequate. It was Saturday after Thanksgiving and they actually put their Thanksgiving leftovers out. I found that a bit odd. Also, things like bacon and sausage were not hot and you had to heat them up yourself in the microwave. But I am not a big breakfast eater so no big deal for me. Free coffee and free snacks 24hrs! And the coffee was amazing and always fresh. The snacks offered were not generic, but name brand things like Lance crackers, Oreos, chips ahoy cookies, Little Debbie snack cakes etc. and again, the lady at the front desk was sooo nice. Also, we arrived about 1.5 hrs before check in time and they were nice enough to let us check in early with no extra fee. It is right on the water, so had a beautiful view. Also, it was extremely affordable for being Thanksgiving weekend. Under $100. We will definitely visit again.

My wife and I absolutely LOVED this place!!! We stayed here for our honeymoon last year. Had an amazing experience here. They left us a bottle of Moët, flowers and a card. Went back for our first anniversary this weekend, and to our surprise, they gave us the same room as our honeymoon. Not only did they do that, but they also gifted us with a bottle of wine, chocolates and a beautiful card!!! We were sincerely shocked by the kind gesture. We will definitely be returning for future anniversaries and also with our children. Thank you River Edge Inn for a beautiful and memorable experience!!! The Mora's.

My son and his girlfriend recently moved to Colonial Beach. We were very excited to help by bringing some items from home and to visit. We booked a room close by at the River Edge Inn. Upon arriving we paid and went to put our things in the room. when we entered, the room smelled damp and musty. We should have gone back to the office at that point, but thought that maybe the air conditioning unit would dry the room out some. Our bed and pillows were actually damp. I used the bathroom, only to discover that housekeeping had not replaced the empty toilet paper roll. Thankfully, there was a new one in the bathroom, but it was out of reach. We unpacked and went to have dinner. We came back and the room still smelled. We decided to read and go to sleep. Upon climbing into bed, I looked up and was concerned that pieces of the textured ceiling might fall during the night, as they were hanging loosely. We got through the night and I woke up with a horrible headache. I'm guessing this is from the smell and moisture that were still in the room. Upon getting in the shower, there was rust near the drain in the tub and a spot where the tile was actually buckling. I showered quickly and went to get breakfast. The breakfast buffet was also disappointing. While there were several options, any hot food items were not actually cooked and in warmers. Instead, you had to put things in the microwave yourself. The only redeeming factor was the location. The motel was right on the water. Sitting on the beach itself was very relaxing. I can honestly say that we will never go back to this motel. I do hope that they make improvements so that others do not have as negative of an experience as we had. It was definitely not worth the money.

Great people, & great place! House keeper was a little rude towards the end. But other than that & the terrible hard mattresses it was a great place! Would come back!

We haven't been to Colonial Beach in at least 15 years. I was a little hesitant about staying at the River Edge Inn since it was no longer a chain managed hotel. We arrived to a cheery greeting, quick check in and our room was clean and pretty spacious. The beach is just across the boardwalk. The breakfast was very good with lots of unexpected treats. We spent a lot of time just sitting at the tables outside enjoying the breeze and the sights.

I stepped on a needle in the carpet, I removed the needle to prevent and protect any other victims/feet of this dirty needle.

Horrible! Dirty used towels, hangers from previous people still in room. Housekeeping kept coming in at 8:30am and waking us up. Nothing was done by management at all. Will never stay there again!

Do yourself a favor and choose another hotel. I booked to stay here with family. I booked two rooms. Within 8 hours of booking, I had an emergency come up with my Brother who is a cancer patient. i immediately called them to cancel. Well my date for staying was That very day, and they said Id have to pay for rooms anyway,becuase i didnt give a 48 hour notice. My brothers Nurse had an emergency and had to leave, and having no one else to cover, i had to cancel my plans. i asked the clerk for some compassion, because it was costing me about $280.00 for this cancellation! Most hotels have free cancellations. the cleark said management could waive the fee as she could not. I asked he if hotel was booked and full and she said no. So I know my holding two rooms did NOT cost them any business. Of course no manager was due in till 3:00 pm. So I called back and explained my plight. The manager said " oh yeah everybody always has emergency or cancer or something". Thatsna qoute! She didnt believe me! I begged her to show some compassion, and explained my brother truly did have cancer and id gladly prove it with a doctors note and that i hated to cancel but i only held the rooms for 8 hours ( overnight) . she agreed to refund one room, and told me if i kept arguing with her , she wouldnt credit anything! Now this just screams Lack of compassion. Most business care and offer FREE services for those family members who are taking care of Cancer patients. Just go to cancer.org. ! I wasnt asking for ANYTHING free, just to not be charged for a room i never used! She refused. So I ended up $140.00 out of pocket for NOTHING! I find this to be heartless and shameful in todays world for a business to do that! Im not trying to scam them. i had to cancel my trip! So save your money , and spend it at a reputable hotel... Please! This hotel doesnt care about you, just wants your money! i was going to rebook, but I wont be doing it here! Shame on them!
