"You might not spot The River Room right away if you're coming in off the water; the restaurant's dark wooden façade makes it look like part of the boardwalk scenery. But the decor doesn't have to speak loudly; the fresh seafood does that work for it. Order one of drinks that make up waterside dining's Holy Trinity (a marg, a dacquiri, or a piña colada) and start with the McClellanville Crab Balls; then ask for whatever's the catch of the day. There’s already something indulgent, albeit casual, about the experience of waterside dining, and when a menu complements the location so well, you really can’t go wrong." - Paul Oswell

Restaurant overlooking the waterfront. Full of character and lots of great photos from long ago in Georgetown. The best part was the excellent food. Hubby said it was the best meal he's had since moving to SC two years ago! The clam strips appetizer was to die for. Going back just to sample the dessert menu because we didn't have room for dessert. We'll have more than dessert I am sure - who can resist freshly prepared seafood?

1st time visiting the River Room. The staff were all friendly! I ordered the house salad with salmon. I found it not to have a fresh catch taste. I was not pleased with my lunch, especially since this is supposed to be a seafood restaurant on the water. My husband ate the flounder sandwich, which he was not satisfied with, and he is usually easier to please. (Disclaimer: I critique seafood restaurants harder because I am a seafood foodie! View past reviews to see the restaurants I've eaten at.) For us, the seafood did not taste fresh. We were with locals, and they seemed to enjoy. After all, they recommended this restaurant. However, I will not recommend or be returning.

Absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect . Our server Kim H. was knowledgeable, friendly, and we never had to ask for anything. The best grits I have ever had. Their play on Oysters Rock truly stepped them up another level!! You must visit here if in the area or if you have an hour or two to drive. Definitely worth it!

We truly enjoyed our lunch at this main street and waterfront seafood focused restaurant. We had the daily special, for <$13 a large piece of flounder with two sides and corn bread hit the spot. We enjoyed cocktails and dessert and walked out fully satisfied. They were hiring multiple positions, but everyone pitched in and worked together to take care of customers. We can’t wait to return.

This would have been a 5 star but the salmon my wife ordered tasted rotten. Normally that would have caused me to leave a 2 or 3 star but that's how good the rest of the food was. Everything else we ordered was amazing and 5 start quality. We had appetizers, dinner, and desserts and everything impressed. We can't wait for our next trip back.

Historical building made it very interesting. I'm glad it did not burn down in the Front street 2015 fires. Friendly staff, nice view of the river, right on Historical Front street.

We waited over an hour and a half for a table for our large group even though we were told it would be 30 minutes and we said we were fine with being seated separately. Other groups came in (4, 5, 6 people) and were seated while we watched and waited. The staff were frazzled and clueless on managing seating. They were just focused on churning and turning over tables. We had to get the owner involved to finally be seated. No prices on their online menu so I was surprised at their prices. The food was OK. Not worth the price. And to add on to everything, they pre-added a 20% tip for a “large group” even though they eventually split us into 3 tables. Never again. First and last time going. There are plenty of other options nearby.

Always good food and service. Enjoy sitting in the "outdoor" area so we can watch as boats come in and out. Love their Chicken Salad stuffed cantaloupe but it's off the menu right now. Highly recommend. The Baker's Rock Hill SC May 2023
