A Perfect Savannah Getaway – Unforgettable Stay at River Street Hotel! Our stay at River Street Hotel was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm Southern hospitality and the charm of historic Savannah. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—right on the iconic River Street, with cobblestone walkways, unique shops, and the peaceful rhythm of the river just steps away. Our room was beautifully restored, blending modern comfort with classic character—exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and large windows that gave breathtaking views of the Savannah River. One of the highlights of our trip was watching the sun set behind the bridge from our window—it was absolutely stunning and felt like a scene from a postcard. Breakfast at the Broken Keel, which is connected to the hotel, was delicious and convenient. It added an extra layer of charm and comfort to our mornings. If you're visiting Savannah, do yourself a favor and stay at River Street Hotel. The atmosphere, the views, and the incredible location make it an unforgettable experience. We cant wait to go back!

Positive: This is a great hotel. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Very much enjoyed to complimentary arrival cocktail and professionalism. Rooms a beautiful and clean. Location is very walkable to restaurants, shops, river and parks. Negative: At check out, inform the front desk if you had valet or not. You will be automatically charged $45 a day for valet. Parking across the street in public parking for $17 a day.

I had a short but sweet stay at the River Street Inn. I love non commercial hotels. This is a lovely property in a great location on the river. The staff was kind and accommodating. My room was large with a four poster bed set against a brick wall. It was within walking distance of anything you need restaurant wise. Lovely place.

This hotel is located in a super convenient location, and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the a/c was cold. Loved the little ceiling fan above the bed also. It’s historic and beautiful and we were so glad we chose to stay here.

Absolutely loved the River Street Inn! Wonderful location and terrific ambiance. The atrium itself is reason enough to book this hotel! You’ve got to see it to appreciate it. The onsite restaurants were terrific. The staff was amazing. So attentive and helpful! Everyone from our car valet, Lakeitha Stewart, upon arrival to the front desk people were awesome. So warm and friendly! Thank you River Street Inn for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful hotel and Savannah! We would highly recommend your hotel to anyone.

Hotel was absolutely lovely. Great location, food, drinks, and amazing amenities in the rooms. Cassandra at the front desk provided the warmest welcome and friendliest see you next time. She was so kind and would make you want to go back just to chat with her. 10/10 and a solid Gold 5 Stars for the River Street Inn

Google
Fantastic hotel with the perfect staff, location, and beautiful, clean rooms! Loved Cassandra at the desk and Brad at the Manager's Reception, both making sure our stay was memorable and pleasant. Loved being right on the water watching huge ships go by! Being within walking distance to parks, restaurants, and shops made the stay even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, the best hotel experience in our 50 years of traveling! Thank you River Street Inn!!!

Google
Such a beautiful historical hotel, just in a bad spot. All the hidden cost that’s not on an itemized receipt, a 2 night stay turned into almost $1000, incidentals fee has yet to be released and it’s been 6 days since check out. The service was excellent overall, the person to talk to there is Will, he helps with the complimentary bar from 4-5:30 and works with the restaurant built into the hotel. Wills motivation and willingness to ensure an above quality experience is awesome. Promote him above peers.

Yelp
Beautiful, classic hotel with great views of the river! We stayed here for our anniversary and it was amazing! The staff seemed very friendly and accommodating upon arrival, especially the valet parking attendants outside. I made sure to leave those guys a good tip upon leaving. However, the fees can add up. Service fees, parking fees, etc can make this place a little expensive. The fact that they don't have an onsite lot is difficult, so sometimes it's hard to get a spot in front. When we arrived the tiny area in front was full, so we had to double-park and unload our bags far away from the entrance. Other than that, which is not really their fault given the area, it's a great hotel!

Yelp
Automatic one star for hidden fees. "Destination fee"? Wtf is that??? I don't do business with dishonest people. Also the room thermostat is totally jacked.

Yelp
Bring earplugs. We really wanted to enjoy our time here but the walls are just too thin. The floors and ceilings have no insulation - even at normal speaking volume, you can very clearly hear conversations in neighboring rooms
google avatar

Yelp
Ambience vintage, with a touch of upscale. The rooms are antique, but the upgrades are really nice. A large bathroom is always a plus for me. The floor plan is nice with dim lights to accommodate the vintage look. Staff were nice. The price is " pricey" but the stay was well worth it since it was right on River Street. Walking distance to everything on River street.

Jay D.

Yelp
Dirty ! And Bugs! When I complained to the front desk that the bathroom had an infestation of bugs crawling everywhere, they said leave a review but NO Refund!

Yelp
The positives are it's very conveniently located to major points of interest. We found a lot within walking distance. The view from the room of the river is beautiful. The front desk staff were friendly. There's also lots of shopping down River St. in the back of the hotel. The down sides were, this is advertised as a "luxury" hotel. The amount of dust around our room, as well as rust and dirt in the bathroom are not found in luxury hotels. They advertised robes and slippers in the rooms. 4 days later no robes or slippers were ever seen. Ours was a double room, yet towels left were always for one. Every day I had to go to the front desk to request extra towels. Upon arrival, the armoire had 1 hanger. My clothes had to be draped over the back of a chair to prevent wrinkles. Housekeeping is non existent. When you return from your day, you will find your bed unmade, nothing wiped down or straightened up. Nothing will be vacuumed. No water or toiletries will be replenished. If you leave the hotel from the ground floor in the back of the inn, to get to the street, you'll be walking by the two portable toilets meant for the downstairs restaurant. Unfortunately, they seem to be leaking out onto the sidewalk. Thankfully we weren't staying during the hot summer months. If you suffer from any type of allergies, you may want to request the room gets a thorough cleaning and dusting upon arrival. Young children should be kept away from exposed outlets. Also - if you've booked your room through any travel site (hotels.com) be sure to verify your rates upon checking in. The rate I booked under and the rate I was charged upon checkout were not the same. I have to now contact the manager who was not in during checkout to inquire why the inn was charging a higher rate. For the cost of this Inn, you may want to shop around a bit more to find better accommodations for your money.

Yelp
We stayed for one night at this hotel and the location was very strategic in downtown Savannah. The hotel lobby was not fancy but the hotel was clean and it looked like they did some upgrades on their hotel. The hotel was a walking distance to all the shops and nice restaurants and I recommend the olde pink house for dinner and call ahead to make reservation. Our bedroom where we stayed has the river view and the room was more on the narrow side and small but since we only stay for a night we really didn't mind with the room size. The bed was soft but too soft for my husband's back, bathroom was clean, the coffee was good too. We really enjoyed their happy hour. The bartender/ server was very helpful and friendly. The food/ spread were really good and the drinks selection were plenty. We tried to get in the hotel from the river side but the key did not work but luckily one of the kitchen worker was walking out and was able to hold the door for us to get in. The valet parking for the hotel was $40/night so we decided to park at the parking garage across the street and it cost $12 per night. They have coffee shop next door and if you show them your room key you will get 10% off but be prepared the service was not fast like Starbucks. Overall, it was a good stay.

Yelp
Historic district with pretty view (upgraded to River view). Negatives: Barge came through (horn blowing) at 1 am and 7 am). Room was small. Reception less than helpful with attitude at check in. Poor signage and the confirmation email said entrance was at the "teal" canopy. It was black and parking is $39 night (or garage down street is $15 or take you chances with street parking) The elevator did not work with our key even after desk rekeyed it's, so we had to walk to up stairs. Morning staff was elusive, called out several times, I could hear the person in the back room, no response and then a back door opened and closed. Good: the only reason I gave them 3 stars (instead of 2) is the convenience to river street and the views. Beds were soft and clean and restaurants and street vendors are very close for morning walk and shopping. I will not stay here again, but the beignets at Hueys (first floor of the hotel) are worth a stop. For the price I would prefer the Hyatt next door.

Yelp
Stayed here for a weekend getaway before the holidays. There is a lot to love. The architecture of the building, the rooms, the furniture, was all as expected for a couples romantic getaway. The downside however for our visit was the construction happening outside of our room, with no warning from staff. We had to keep our shades closed the entire time and the noise in the morning was excessive. More so because of how close it was to the windows. It made us wonder why they asked if we wanted to buy an "upgrade" at check-in. Another tip: valet was $45/day. Street parking maxes out at $20 and there is a garage across the street you can pay $5-10. I'd stay again and hopefully be able to write a better experience, sans construction.

Yelp
Beautiful location, with a river view there was always a lot to look at. A few rooms had a tiny balcony which I like! Don't eat at their restaurant however, it wasn't good at all. There's lots of restaurants, our best dinner was at the Chart House! The Inn had an awesome location with a lot of the sightseeing trolleys stop close by. Another recommendation! Only negative was broken tiny fridge and small room for two beds! Coffee not good lol

Yelp
Perfect location by the river. The hotel is central to everything on the walk. I stayed with my family and it was fine, but I could see this as a great place for a romantic getaway. Be sure to take advantage of the cocktail hour. Checkout the wraparound porch and grab a rocking chair to relax in while you sip on a drink. Don't forget where your room is located since the elevators only go to certain floors, which can be quite entertaining after spending some time at Wet Willie's.

Yelp
The room was nice and we received a complimentary upgrade to a river view. However, there was a very strong smell of mold. The front desk person was not especially friendly. The reception from 4-5:30 was really nice. The common areas were also really nice. Location was great!

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at this hotel. Booked thru TripAdvisor+ and booked a King, balcony room with a river view. We arrived right after lunch and were able to check-in early because our room was ready. The room was enormous, a beautiful historic feel with an updated bathroom. Loved the very tiny balcony, and it was great to step outside to see ships passing or feel the weather for the day. Location was fantastic, we had easy access to River Street restaurants and shops out the back and the rest of Savannah out front. We took advantage of the nightly Manager's Reception with snacks and an open bar from 5-7pm. We also enjoyed the 10% discount at Cafe M for a delicious croissant breakfast sandwich one morning. Coffee available in the lobby every morning at 6am and a Keurig in the room was great. Overall, staff was great. Some of the things that need improving: The "extra" fees add up. $25 daily for a destination fee (I know, paid for the nightly Manager's reception) + $45 daily valet parking fee. For that valet fee, would be great to have assistance with luggage cart, we did everything ourselves. Speaking of valet, the area out front is challenging without signs or information. More signs and info online would be helpful. Things that would be wonderful to add: -A table and chairs in the room. Plenty of room, it would be great to have that option, especially since we had a stormy and rainy day that meant more time spent in the room. -A larger mini-fridge or at least one with a a shelf, we could barely fit anything in the one in our room. -More info on how to self park or discount for no in/out for valet. We didn't use our car again after checking in until we left. Hard to justify the cost when we could have parked ourselves in a local garage for less if we had more information.

Yelp
We loved staying here for a short trip. Halle at the front desk was very helpful during our stay. They have a nice free happy hour with drinks and appetizers daily. The inside of the rooms were beautiful. Would def stay again. Located close to great bars and restaurants.

Yelp
I stayed here on 8/25/2024 and on 9/1/2024 The ambiance is incredible, def old style Savannah, but with modern conveniences, but I was VERY impressed with the helpfulness of the staff and their dedication to making us feel welcome. On my second stay .. a week after my first stay.., the young man at the valet stand, John called me by name , and Chyna at the desk was just as accommodating Def my place to stay from now on in Savannah

Anat E.

Yelp
I got into the room and immediately noticed the beds hadn't been dusted in some time. But later that night, a giant flying roach crawled across the other bed. Called front desk, took them a while to come up and help me out. Then, I decided to inspect the room more closely in case there were more hidden critters. I found the carpets heavily caked with dust, especially in the corners and edges, food remnants under the bed, random drips on the walls and the area around the fridge had not been cleaned. I asked to be moved to a different room and when I walked through with staff, same issues. I didn't feel comfortable staying there. They assured me I'd get a refund if I left. I left. Now they won't give me a refund or answer my phone calls or respond to an email. They charged me for four nights. Also, for the price point, I would expect water or coffee in the lobby. Long waits at front desk too. There are better hotels in the area for that price.

Yelp
Here for happy hour, beer and wine. Great time sitting on the balcony watching the ships go by. Wonderful evening in Savannah.

Yelp
Room was nice beds comfortable great river view. Different walking up and down to find our floor and room, not like usual hotel. One issue walls are thin, could hear people in next room.

Valerie L.

Yelp
Such a quiet, beautiful hotel. Managers reception was an added plus. We loved our stay. It's close to everything, you can walk right out onto river St.

Liam L.

Yelp
Service was horrible, "Sarah" at the front desk gave meal cards to a 10 year old girl and then laughed at me when I tried to get more because she lost them. TERRIBLE service do not stay here.
google avatar

Don W.

Yelp
What a complete mess of a hotel. The lack of professionalism and courtesy should make anyone walk, no run away from this hotel. We booked two rooms well in advance only to find one room was rented out for an additional night by the existing guests and told sorry. Even though they could not find the additional night request for them on their system. They allowed them to stay and told us to find another room somewhere else as the hotel was fully booked. We were one of several couples with the same issue. When pressed for a manager (Jennifer Henderson) we were told she was on vacation. Suffice it to say, we did not receive any recourse or refund for parking, help finding another room, or any gesture to show apology. My wife and I travel a lot all over the world and this had to be the worst guest experience ever.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the location. It's near everything! You don't need a car, unless you want to drive further out, like Tybee or Hilton Head. Check-in with Nicole was amazing! She accommodated me and helped me with two separate reservations I had booked for my 6 nights so I could be in the same room the entire time. And her personality is just fabulous! So gracious and sweet! Every hotel should have someone like her working the front desk. I had reached out by email and was put in touch with Jennifer who was great about communicating and honored my request for a quiet room. I had read some reviews that said the property was loud, but she put me in a room that truly was quiet. Great sleep every night. It was also a room on the third floor, facing the street. Not much of a view, but it was still kinda cool to look out the windows to the brick and cobble stone below and consider how much history was there. So I'd say if you want to save a few bucks, you don't need a River view. But the River view is amazing! You can see it in the common areas of the hotel on each floor. And the hotel lets out right onto River Street, so easy to get to. The decor in the rooms make this hotel really fun and add to the whole historical Savannah experience. The mangers reception was a nice, but the food was cold despite being on a warmer! I would have preferred to just pay for it rather than be charged $25 a day destination fee, since we only went once. But, I actually filled up on appetizers the night we went and skipped dinner! What I didn't love was I had to take the trash out on my own because they don't offer housekeeping every day. In our six night stay, we were told we could only have it twice! We had to also go to the from desk two times to ask for towels. But the trash thing really rubbed me the wrong way and I don't know if I'd stay here again because of that. Its not cheap to be having to take out your own trash. Also, the WiFi didn't work in my room. When I called down to the front desk, the a very condescending agent told me to log on with the name of their WiFi and when I told her I of course already tried that, she left me with no help other than to reach out to the front desk manager Monday. I was leaving on a Sunday, so that's not much help. And although I did email the front desk manager, she never responded. So overall it is a good hotel in terms of decor, location and comfort. I just don't want to have to be worrying about things like running out of toilet paper, taking my own trash out and having to remember to schedule housekeeping a day in advance. And having to stop by the front desk to pick up towels and having no WiFi while forced to pay a destination fee left a bad taste in my mouth. Due to all of this, I wouldn't stay here again. There's just too many other options in the area and I want daily housekeeping when I pay $300+ a night for my room.

Yelp
I stayed this past weekend for my Birthday. Nicole was the absolute best! (Thank you so much!) Our room was on the 5th floor facing Bay Street and the Love Lock Bridge which was fun by the way. Hotel and Room were very clean and well kept. Loved the decor and haunting looking hallways! Room was very nice and spacious! The location of course was everything! Very convenient and close to lots of restaurants and shops! There was construction going outside that woke me up in the morning, but other than that I had a wonderful stay! I will definitely be staying here again! I see others had bad experiences, but mine was great! Will definitely come back!

Julie K.

Yelp
Nice hotel but person at front desk was a little rude. Other than that the stay was pleasant. Word of advice, the hotel should invest in better door insulation for the rooms facing Bay Street. There were loud, drunk men sitting outside our balcony having a conversation until 1:30 AM.

Clark Y.

Yelp
Great historic, old hotel right in the middle of everything! Booked a king and river view and could not have been more perfect. Cool and updated rooms with original floors, doors and brickwork right on the old cotton exchange. You could feel the history in the building and the room. We had fun putting a ball on the uneven floor and watching it roll to the corners. There is construction outside, but it was not overly noisy early and you shouldn't be spending the day in the room with all there is to see! The staff was wonderful and helpful with places to go and things to do, luggage was taken care of before and after check in/out and the stay was seamless. Managers reception was a bit "close", the weather was cold and did not allow for outdoor seating but Tiffany the hostess, handled it with grace and ease. We will be returning or our next visit!

Yelp
Great place right in the middle of all the action on River Street. Building is old with warn, shiny wood floors covered with colorful area rugs here and there to tone down the creaking. Our room was well appointed and very clean with free coffee and bottled water with their own River Street Inn labels. We upgraded to a river view room and was pleased with the view. It was our anniversary so the hotel comped us a bottle of champagne tied with 2 festive balloons and flutes. A couple of cozy armchairs in front of the window was a perfect spot to enjoy that!. The room was quiet and the beds were comfy and the blackout curtain allowed us to sleep in a little. The inn also holds a guest reception each afternoon where they serve tons of finger foods, beer, wine and cocktails. They have huge bowls of candy in the lobby for guests each afternoon as well as complimentary coffee service each morning. Staff we encountered were all pleasant and helpful. They also have convenient valet parking which we opted not to use but if you have a lot of luggage it might be worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Very lovely place. Oh my Savannah you're loved. Our first time here. This Inn leaves you without wanting anything. Our room was stocked and wanting for nothing. So many restaurants in this 4 story hotel. As well as a quick walk away. Right on the river what more could you ask for. Wally checked us in and gave a really nice up grade. Valet guys extremely pleasant. Loved watching the cargo ships come into port in the morning. Can't wait to return. This time a longer stay.

Julie M.

Yelp
Cleanliness is a 1. Atmosphere and staff are a 5 so I landed on 3. Loved the brick walls, the fireplace, the old furniture, the high ceilings. The upgraded bathroom was nice but they missed some details like top trim on the baseboard and a faucet that matched the sink so it didn't splash water everywhere. The bedframe and every piece of trim in the room and in the hotel was covered in a huge layer of dirt - not sure it has ever been cleaned. I've never stayed at a hotel that was dirtier. The stairs leading to the restaurant level were old and beautiful but the floors were dirty, trash left on the floor for days and the exit door to the fountain needed to be swept at the bare minimum. So much potential completely lost because they choose not to clean.

les s.

Yelp
Don't you just love it when they say you get free coffee and a free wine reception and then charge you $30.00 for a destination fee..which when I spoke to a person at the front desk, they said it sucks doesn't it..the management changes you that for your free coffee and wine.

Katie G.

Yelp
Very comfortable room! Good AC and amenities, fitness room was clean and the location was perfect. The exceptional part was really the staff and how friendly and genuinely excited to help out they were!! From the people we talked with at the front to the cleaners, everyone seemed to really care about making sure we had a good stay. Definitely would recommend!!!!

Yelp
If you are looking for an incredible, walkable location and a beautiful historical hotel with a bunch of character, this place nails it. I do not regret my 4 night stay one bit. There's a lot which you'll miss from comparable-rate 'modern' hotels though. 1. The rooms are small, and have almost zero space (lacking a desk). If you are coming for longer stay you will have to pile things up on any available surface. It's a cluttery place to stay in general or to try and bring food in to eat. 2. The "do not disturb" placards they have DO NOT stay on the door handle when you close your door. As someone who puts the placard up at check-in and takes it off at checkout, this is a rather big problem over a 4 day stay. They insist on using these garish non-functional embossed plastic things when they could downgrade to something actually functional and nobody would care or notice. There's no denying the coolness factor of staying in a 200 year old hotel. That's what I wanted, and that's what I received. Check in was easy and courteous. Huey's (the restaurant directly downstairs) was a dream come true. I upgraded to the breakfast plan and highly recommend it. Huey's had some of the best French toast I've ever had in my life. Absolute perfection. Also - they had some of the best scrambles eggs I've ever had, and the sausage they use for breakfast is Andouille, which was a nice treat! There's also an AMAZING little French cafe on the main level with top tier coffee and pastries. Having these places connected to the hotel is a huge bonus.

Yelp
River Street Inn was awesome! Not only does it have a prime location on Bay and River streets, it has 3 restaurants and a cafe inside or outside. We did 3 of the 4 and the food was great, plus a 10% discount! The decor, much of which is original to it being a cotton exchange is really cool. Easy access out the back door to River Street. Very nice and helpful staff. Spacious room (our was a double) with two double beds and one very comfortable chair. Cool antique furniture in the rooms and thru out. My only complaint is it had the tiniest mini fridge made. Wondering if they could put in a 3 foot tall one? Had a great time taking lots of pictures, so much to see. Also daily from 5 to 7 they had a tip bar and free food. The food was really good and changed daily, except the chicken skewers.

John B.

Yelp
Wow, location location location, this hotel is located in a great spot to start you visit around Savannah and area restaurants and great area to walk along side the river. You mist go into various hotels to see the art exhibits in their lobby /foyer. The Hotel was well suited the room was very comfortable. The only thing I have to common on was their 3 elevator to get to the 3rd floor our room was. I had to go up 1 floor changed elevator to go up another floor and then down to 3. very confusing initially. I guess its because the building is as it was built. You must attend the daily happy hour, drinks, food, and more I would stay again in my next visit.

Yelp
I just stayed there with a group of women for our High School Reunion. We had several rooms there. The hotel was delightful. The rooms were very clean as was every inch of the hotel. The staff was wonderful and took very good care of us. Their cocktail hour held daily, was so good and had a great array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices along with hot and cold hors d'ouvres. We took advantage of this option every day we were there. The bartender made sure everything was plentiful, and constantly replaced anything that ran out. The location on the river lends itself to great close by restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this property if you're looking for a place to stay in Savannah, GA. It can't be beat!!

Yelp
This is a great boutique hotel on the Savannah Riverfront. We were delighted by the friendliness of staff - Destiny at check-in and then Val for the manager's happy hour (which was surprise treat)! The interior design is lovely and we enjoyed the feel of our room with a view.

Karen G.

Yelp
Asked for a city view room, got the view of an alley in the bowels of the hotel for $400 a night.

Ann D.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Street Inn. The only difficulty was locating the hotel, there was no big signage so we parked nearby and walked to find it. Once there we found public parking nearby and explored the area. The hotel was comfortable with a view of the river. The only disturbance was the street musicIan and boat horn but the noise was negligible. Restaurants were good and close by. Hotel reception for happy hour was great too.

Yelp
Delightful and interesting structure. Management is not of the highest caliber. Flashes of kindness and helpfulness. Flashes of ineffectiveness. They are still on COVID levels of housekeeping despite not being otherwise too concerned about COVID. Sounds like they are just short on housekeeping staff. But they still charge you through the proverbial nose. Room was clean but still had a winged visitor and one nasty wall crawling one. Steven the bellman and the valet parking teams are the star performers. Complimentary coffee is a crappy machine. They leave some chocolates out. Meh.

Yelp
The owners of the River Street Inn clearly used photography and overstated descriptors to present the location as a luxury option. The building is an historic gem, but ultimately felt like it had not been justice. From start to finish, the service is idle and unconcerned -- aside from the fabulous valet and the very friendly happy hour host... no others seemed ready to assist, explain or offer options when concerns were expressed. We travel often and aim to stay in nicer places and are accustomed to desk crew and concierge service in such places being ready to assist. We're fairly self sufficient and present our requests or concerns very gently. We know how things work in places that have their act together. As one early example of off-putting service: we arrived at 4:30, a half an hour after check-in. The young clerk was flatly announcing, with no explanation of what was going on, how long it would be (not even a friendly/apologetic estimate) or accommodations of what to do in the meantime, to a lobby full of arriving guests that NONE of the rooms were ready. That they could leave their bags and she would, "try to keep an eye on them," but that she, "could not check them in." Very much a, "Sorry, Charlie," approach. Our room was available, but no others were. This was our introduction to the service style that we encountered for the next two days. Flat, cold, unaccommodating, As a parting example, on Saturday morning, the day we were to check out, at roughly 7AM, there was a loud, sharp bang against our bedroom wall. This was followed by screaming, squealing and ongoing tossling by kids of furniture and each other. My husband went to the lobby to ask for light intervention, something as simple as a call to the room or a knock on the door by staff, to request quiet at that early hour. The clerk (an older more experienced presumably gentleman than the young clerk who greeted us), told him, "There is nothing I can do. People are getting up and getting ready to check out." He refused. For the price, while the rooms are quaint, they have limited towels and paper products (nearly gone roll on the spool and one half roll under the sink). Not huge issues but just not aligned with the price or the website presentation. In nicer places, the service level is warm, embracing and ready to help -- vs. flatly, vaguely reciting limits and rules. This was totally absent, aside from that awesome, thoughtful valet and the happy, Happy Hour host. Our overriding feeling was: tourist trap.

Yelp
While this hotel is in a great location, it is definitely not worth the money. My husband and I live in Charleston and visit Savannah frequently. We usually stay at Andaz but decided to try something new a few weeks ago. River St Inn felt run down compared to what we are used to, but our biggest concern is that we were over charged by $200 and management has done nothing to remedy this. We asked for it to be fixed during our stay and management said they would but they did not. Since then we have called back twice and they have yet to return the calls or the money. We will not be staying again. There are so many upscale hotels that appreciate their customers in Savannah and River St Inn is not one of them. Very disappointed.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quiet comfortable stay with great customer service DO NOT stay here. Two stars - the location is very convenient and the hotel itself if very historical and classy. The industrial vibe of the rooms is very well done. Upon checking in it was hectic as it was the day after the 4th if July. Everyone was scrambling, yet not really doing anything (if that makes sense). Then I couldn't find my room and couldn't get anyone's attention to help. It's kind of a maze. There was some kind of a party with a group of young girls in my hall that were constantly playing loud music and carrying on in the halls. The front desk somehow "couldn't hear it" the 3 times I called. When I called back and said I would call the cops if they didn't get it under control they did. Terrible guest service. I took video of the noise in my room to have when I dispute the charges since the front desk was utterly unhelpful. I feel like my room was under an office or something, someone was always walking all night and early morning. Also, my window was literally right on one of the busy cobblestone streets down to the river walk - a ghost tut stopped for several minutes after 10 and there were many other people and carts making quite a bit of noise. I am only in my room basically to sleep and if I can't even do that there's no point. When I called for my car from the valet I ended up standing in the rain waiting for 10 minutes. The man working the valet said, "Didn't they tell you when you checked in it takes about 20 mins to get your car?" Um no, I could barely get them to tell me where my room was. Very disappointed overall.

Yelp
Love this hotel! The friendly staff welcome you and are very helpful! The rooms are wonderful! They are so clean and comfy! We loved the pillows so much we found out the brand and bought some for our home. River Street Inn is centrally located near so many of Savannah's amazing attractions. You can walk almost anywhere from the River Street Inn. There is also a free happy hour and they offered a free brunch coupon for Huey's Restaurant. I hope to make our trip to the River Street Inn an annual tradition. We love it there!

Yelp
My husband and I were driving through Savannah with our babe on the way to a wedding and wanted to stay in a hotel on River street. The River Street Inn is beautiful, the details are gorgeous and the location is perfect. I paid for a river view room, though, and was told when we arrived that they had "overbooked" and there were none available. That was pretty disappointing. I asked to speak with the manager, Joseph, three separate times and he either wasn't there or was on break (all three instances between 10am and 2pm). Whitney was the BEST front guest attendant and facilitated so many questions and helped me navigate with a stroller. All in all, it wasn't an unpleasant stay, just NOT what we paid for and not entirely what we were expecting.

Yelp
We booked last min on our way back to south FL and were thrilled with the overall value, character and comfort of the rooms, location, and the fantastic complimentary happy hour. River Street absolutely exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We had to wait past check in time to get our room. Then given room 232. It was supposed to be city view. It was an alley with heavy equipment and very noisy. When we came back to our room after dinner, we realized we were next to room reserved for parties. It was incredibly noisy and rowdy. When we asked for a new room Tiffany was less than helpful. Rude staff. Very noisy. Worst hotel experience ever.

Yelp
First time staying at this property. We live only 40 miles away, so we visit Savannah often. There was a lot to love about this inn, including the history, unique architecture, and its proximity to attractions, shopping and restaurants. Unfortunately, the hotel wasn't run like a well oiled machine. For the price we paid, $400/night, we expected better service. Upon arrival we found no one at the valet or reception desk. During our stay, when I sat in the small lobby to wait for a ride, I witnessed plenty of other frustrated guests mulling around waiting to check-in with no staff in sight. So our experience was obviously not a one off. We loved the industrial style brick ladened decor, skylight roof, and antique like touches, but someone needs to hire a designer ASAP. The King room was spacious but there was absolutely no effort to maximize the room's potential. There was plenty of space for an L -shaped couch instead of a lonely single arm chair. A bench at the end of the bed would have been nice as well. The King sized bed was right in front of the door to the tiny balcony. The lay-out was not user friendly, just strange because the available square footage easily allowed for the furnishings to be better situated. The high ceilings and painted brick helped make the room airy and clean looking. But the lack of any wall decor robbed the space of character and charm. Our favorite activity is watching all the boats, tugs, ferries, and cargo ships traversing the waterway. Unfortunately, even though our room was riverfront, it was difficult to take full advantage of the scenery from our balcony. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was decent enough. I would not call this a "luxurious" property where pampering and top notch service abounds. It's a nice historic property that is still a work in progress.

Yelp
We stayed here Nov. 2023. One of the many options when staying in the Savannah Historic district. We stay there because It's on the water front and is an historic building (converted cotton warehouse). From the building, ramps and cobblestones you can get a feeling of life there over 150 years ago. The room and bed were nice and had an historic theme. My expectations with the # and amount of taxes and fees were exceeded....There is a free happy hour with limited open bar and food. The water view rooms are quieter since they farther away from Bay st., a 4 lane road, trucks use. Also you can watch the ships and boats on the Savannah river from your room. We liked the restaurants affiliated with this hotel. You could rate the hotel 3.5 stars but we like the historical aspects and location so 4 stars. The J.W.Marriott about 1/2 mile up river Is very large with interesting exhibits, looks nicer but it's more expensive and not as historic. It's in a converted large power plant.

Yelp
Made a last minute reservation and couldn't have had a better experience! Whitney at the front desk so friendly and helpful! My partner was celebrating a birthday, Whitney made such an effort to make it special. 5 stars plus, good customer service is difficult to come by and Whitney has it! Made our entire experience! Thank you Whitney and the River street Inn!

Yelp
Booked a room for a romantic getaway. Location for the River Street Walk could not be any better. We didn't use the valet for parking- price was a bit steep. We did get very lucky and got one of the public spaces right in front of hotel. Upon checking in- we found out we had complimentary manager's reception from 5-7 with free Hor o'douevres and drinks. We went and had a really good time. MJ was our host/bartender and was very welcoming and entertaining. We got free food, entertainment, and even won a couple of nice gifts playing trivia. The room was very nice, very clean. The balcony was the best thing by far though. Outstanding views if the River sights- and sunset was beautiful! Looking forward to our next visit to Savannah. Will be staying here again!
