Food is decent and would recommend if you like fried calamari and chips. Personally, I was not a big fan as the food feels quite fast-foodish and a bit too oily. Prices are also too high for a restaurant of this quality. Although, I would also recommend the pizzas.

Recently dined at Riverdeck Restaurant, and it was an absolutely fabulous experience that I’d highly recommend! From the moment we arrived, the vibrant atmosphere set the perfect tone. Nestled by the water, the open-air seating and lively decor created great vibes, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The menu was a delightful surprise, with their fish dishes and pizzas stealing the show. I ordered the grilled fish, which was perfectly cooked—fresh, flaky, and bursting with flavor, paired with a zesty herb sauce that elevated every bite. The wood-fired pizza was equally impressive, with a crispy crust, generous toppings, and just the right amount of cheese. Every dish was beautifully presented, and the portions were generous, offering great value. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the welcoming ambiance. Beautiful setting but very disappointed and won’t bother to go there again. Came from Plett and George to have a special family lunch. Booked a table in advance (Thursday 17/7) for (Sunday 20/7) lunch at play area under the roof next to river for 10 people. When we arrived, our table wasn’t available. Waitress told us they only had one booking and the people sitting there was booked for that table. Another waiter approached us and asked if he can assist, I explained to him the situation and why I was upset, he then confirmed they moved the people out to our reserved table after they asked to be moved outside and placed us at a table under the roof next to bar with no apologies. When we wanted to order, we were told there was no more Curry Chicken left (which was their special for Sundays) so we decided to order the Calamari & Chips and the waitress pulled her nose up and said she would rather not and that we should maybe look at ordering something else. We then decided on a breakfast, which we then were told they don’t serve at that time. No where on the menu does it mention breakfast hours. When asked for our bill, the waitress tried to make excuses. Luckily Blackwaters River Lodge accommodated our group of 10 at last minute with an amazing meal and great service and made the trip worth while to Goukamma.

Roosterkoek at almost R90 I kinda expected butter. Having read previous review now, I must agree on quality of roosterkoek...it clearly is not your strong point, or it indeed cimes out of a freezer. Boerewors was small portion, Calamari was chewy but tasty. Overall, lets just say, I am likely to visit again as I do enjoy the setting and overall feel. The food however could be better.

Fantastic location along the river, dog & kiddie friendly, great vibe and overall a wonderful place to relax and eat . Great pizza's

Pizza disappointing, so much cheese in the middle and nothing on the rest was just far to much, garlic in big wads and puddles everywhere but I love the location and the staff were amazing but I will never order a pizza again, love the other food in the menu

Seeing on the menu written twice that they take long to prepare food should have been the sign to go somewhere else. Order took a long time and unfortunately not worth the wait. We ordered the roosterkoeke with chicken mayo filling. The roosterkoek was very bland and very stiff suggesting it's either old or out the freezer. The filling was also small and lukewarm. Kitchen staff should pull up their socks and provide better food.

Food is good but basic, and not a big selection. Quite out of the way. Tranquil setting. Outside seating at restaurant a bit uncomfortable but the view is lovely.
