The Teak House (Riverhouse Hotel)

The accommodation was okay, but considering the price, it didn’t quite convince us enough to want to stay here again if we were back in the area. It’s a bit misleading that some of the photos shown on Google are actually from the nearby partner hotel (Riverhouse Resort). On the positive side, the room’s terrace was spacious and offered a lovely view of the river. The shower was actually decent by Thai standards, but unfortunately, there was visible mold in the bathroom. The rooms are very poorly soundproofed, although that’s somewhat understandable given the wooden construction. That said, the room’s amenities could definitely be improved – there was no fridge, and no mosquito net (neither over the bed nor on the terrace door), and no way to hang your own either. The staff didn’t come across as particularly warm or welcoming. We had booked breakfast as well – we definitely wouldn’t do that again. The omelet was bland, and the rest was just toast with peanut butter and jam, along with some bananas and papaya. What really disappointed us was that they only served instant coffee – especially surprising in a region known for growing coffee. Overall, it felt like the place isn’t really trying to make guests feel at home, but rather relying on a steady stream of travelers doing the Mae Hong Son Loop.

Nice place right on the river! Watched the sunset as people walked along the river. |Green curry was delicious as was the Chinese kale and spring rolls. Also got the spaghetti bolognese and spaghetti with bacon which was good but not great. Staff was excellent and would definitely come back.

The check-in was not smooth. The room needs to be refurbished. The doors to the balcony do not open and the bathroom is antiquated. We were given a room up two flights of stairs. I have an artificial hip and asked if they could swap our room for one on the ground or lower floor. We had arrived early - No interest. Lugged the case up the two flights of stairs. The walls are thin and the room noisy. When we left the person on duty asked for a tip for doing nothing.

We spent one night at the hotel, the room was comfortable but like others have previously mentioned you could hear guests in the next rooms. |Staff were ok, reception didn’t really greet us throughout our stay. |We didn’t use the swimming pool. |Breakfast was poor. They had fruits and a couple of local hot foods. They had a tray with precooked fried eggs that they kept replenishing. I was very disappointed as I would have expected the hotel to cook fresh eggs to order as it only takes a few minutes and means less waste of the pile of fried eggs they had. |We were on a tour and this was the suggested hotel but if visiting the area again we would look to stay somewhere else.

Very nice place close to the river, with clean rooms, good breakfast and a nice pool. There was a very good restaurant on the side of the hotel, and it all worked out well.

The hotel is old but cozy and acceptable clean. There’s some area that can be improved for cleanliness like toilet in my opinion. Staff are all helpful and sweet. Perfect spots to chilling for vacation in mae sareang

I would say this is a unique place to stay at Mae Sariang. Breakfast is okay, but the hotel has a restaurant which serves a very good set of food. Very helpful and friendly staff Negatives for me are that rooms do not contain fridge and no soundproofing since hotel is built using wood.

Ok, the hotel was a little noisy from the rooms next to me, but the hotel itself, the charm, the service, the location made it well worth hearing the neighbors laughing and talking late into the night. Very comfortable bed, the room was clean, the shower was great, the view was excellent. I would 100% recommend staying here if you're looking for a cozy and comfortable stay.
