Riverside Majestic Hotel - Astana Wing

We stayed here in October and November of 2024. We had an excellent experience here because of the kind and caring staff. Our room was perfect, the person that cleaned it daily was the best! We enjoyed the executive lounge where we were very well looked after. The swimming pool was good! The breakfast was very nice and the view from the terrace where we ate was beautiful. We enjoyed several tours which were set up by our bellman. We hope to return again in the future! Kuching is a beautiful spot with the friendliest people. If you haven’t been to Borneo this is where you should start.

I’ve stayed here almost every year for the past five years when traveling to Kuching, except for last year. Unfortunately, the hygiene standards have significantly deteriorated this time. Upon entering the room, there was a strong, unpleasant smell that I couldn’t identify. The bedsheets were unacceptably dirty. Additionally, the fridge in our room was leaking, soaking the entire floor. The chair in the room was also dirty. I really don’t understand how a hotel would consider these conditions presentable for guests. Furthermore, the hotel breakfast lacked variety, and I noticed stains on the plates and the warm water jar, likely from coffee or other substances. I hope these issues are addressed to improve future stays.

Staff were very polite and efficient. I am claustrophobic. Hence, I rejected the first room I got as there were more walls than windows. The staff understood my needs and immediately changed to another room that had an awesome view . |The room was decent and clean. Breakfast was a good spread. |I felt very safe and secured. I'm definitely returning here.

Extremely disappointing experience. The room was in filthy condition—there was hair left in the shower and on the bathroom floor from previous guests, the window sill was covered in mould, the furniture was stained, and even the TV remote was covered in grime. Additionally, there was a promotion for 50% off cocktails advertised in the lobby, but when we tried to take advantage of it, the bar refused, claiming reception hadn't updated the now expired offer. Reception, on the other hand, said the bar hadn't removed the outdated promo. As a travel agent, I cannot recommend this property to anyone. There are budget hotels that offer much cleaner rooms and far better service.

Room is of good size. Location is also good & service was ok. That's all about the positive bits. Notwithstanding it's not a very old hotel, the ASTANA wing where we were staying is very poorly maintained. The bathrooms are dirty, badly stained sofa, toilet flush not working well, clogged sink and room window cannot close properly which is risky if you have kids. Water mark can be seen everywhere including in the hotel lobby. Our group took 3 rooms and all rooms have similar issues . Maybe the Puteri wing is better.

Location of the hotel is good and there are many shops and restaurants around. The front desk staff were warm and friendly and allowed us to check in early. Foods served at breakfast were tasty although the selection was limited. Free parking is provided. Our stay at Astana hotel was great so far!
