Rivertown Inn

My husband and I stayed here for two nights for our anniversary and it was nothing short of an amazing magical experience. The staff was polite, kind, and courteous and the house is beautiful. It is so grand and they go above and beyond to make you feel transported away from everything and on your own little world. Everything downtown is in walking distance so it is very easy to get to everything and the price is fantastic for everything you get! A three course breakfast was served each morning and Chef Johanna not only worked with our food sensitives but everything was delicious. It really was a five star experience on a budget and I just cannot believe how wonderful everything was!! Thank you so much for a great weekend we loved staying here and we will be back!!!!

This place is an absolute treasure. My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying here a few times and it has been nothing short of amazing. The attention to detail is impeccable and you can find yourself lost in the lore of the room you stay in for hours. The staff is always wonderful and the food is absolutely incredible. This place has been somewhere I can relax and reconnect with my wife and we will continue to come back as many times as we can for as long as we can. Do yourself a favor and experience this phenomenal place.

The Rivertown Inn is absolutely gorgeous for an intimate wedding! Going room to room is just breathtaking. I love photographing weddings, and get super excited when I get to shoot in a bit of an unconventional venue. This ticked all the boxes... Beautiful rooms and lots of opportunities for photos. We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary in Stillwater and had the pleasure of staying at Rivertown Inn. The Inn was beautiful. Carter was excellent getting us checked in. We enjoyed our 3 course breakfast and Chef Johanna created delicious food.

Had a great time. The room was cozy and romantic with an absolutely gorgeous bed. We booked the Lord Byron room in the main house and the bath tub was to die for, it was huge and easily fit both of us for a romantic soak (with jets!). The grounds were well taken care of, lush and absolutely gorgeous. We took our breakfasts in our room and they were delightful and delicious, the chef is very talented! They have you write down if you have any dietary restrictions and will accommodate. We enjoyed reading on our little balcony and in the screened in Gazebo on the grounds. The location is amazing, walkable to downtown for most (it is down a somewhat steep hill so folks with mobility issues or chronic illnesses may still need to drive or ride share). Resident woodpecker greeted us every morning.

I booked a room for one night here and I'm just in awe! The house is stunning! The details, the hospitality, just everything was amazing. I will be back again!

Stay here! You’ll love it! An incredible historic home in Stillwater, MN transformed to a delightful bed & breakfast. Every inch has been restored so tastefully and to the 9s. Carter ensured a comfortable stay and recommended an awesome coffee shop! Breakfast was excellent - hats off to Chef Johanna! Everything you’re looking for to make your Stillwater stay a delightful one. Walking distance to downtown!

From greetings at the door from the Operations Manager Larry, to the wine and 5 star cheese tray that first of five days, we knew this was going to be a Downtown Abbey experience. What a magnificent Inn. The breakfast each day prepared by their chefs was fresh, and scrumptious each day. This Victorian Inn was decorated with beautiful art, stained glass throughout, and unique guest rooms. Service was impeccable by the staff. There is a reason the Stillwater Trolley stops with passengers to get a view of the inn. Enjoyed the happy hour and Gazebo. If you like luxury, treat yourself, as I would say there is no other inn, bed and breakfast or hotel in that area that can compare to the Rivertown as we were not at all impressed with the others in Stillwater. Will be back each year when visiting from California.

Ok... we can't hold back our love for this place! When we do a staycation in MN... we venture here! Stillwater is far enough away and a special treat for us. Perfect place with great restaurants/ cocktail bars and things to do. Not to mention the Rivertown Inn! It's been a few years since we've stayed here and we opted for the Oscar Wilde room. We will be back to stay here again! The others rooms we've stayed at in the past have also been beautiful, but this one takes the cake! Another perk to this place is the breakfast made by their phenomenal vegan chef. I don't eat pork and she whips up an awesome meal that makes me wish she could cook for me daily. I could easily be vegan with her help! The staff or caregivers that help us each time or super helpful and make our stay even better. Thanks again for another visit and we will be back!

We have stayed here three times now, our goal is to check out every room in the house !! You will not be disappointed! The attention to detail in this home is beautiful the owners take much pride in this home and knows how to keep everything to almost as if it was the original to the home. Larry the manager of the property has been so SO wonderful to us and remembers us! not kidding we plan on staying in every room! We LOVE the chef !! Always a pleasure! And unique dishes! Thank you for that! I wish I captured more photos of our stay and I have uploaded photos a in the past of our Agatha Christie, Doyle room and the home but pictures does NOT do it's justice! Love LOVE our stay here every time I!

Simply breathtaking. We checked ourselves in after letting the person I spoke to on the phone know we may be running a little bit late to check in. Easy accommodation, and not altogether knowing what to expect was blown away. After finding our room (The Lord Byron Suite) it was so relaxing just to go down to the lobby and pour a couple of glasses of complimentary wine and park up in the lobby to relax and soak in the atmosphere. The whole place feels like art history. The room, service, and food was more than expected and absolutely wonderful. We cannot wait to go back someday soon.

Spectacular Bed and Breakfast!! I've stayed in many and this has been by far the best of the best! Only the coolest place in town! If your looking to book, this must be booked in advance! We booked ours six or seven months in advance, we stayed in the Agatha Cristie room! Well worth every penny! The Experience alone was amazing ! When we checked in an hour later happy hour/social hour was refreshing to begin the night before dinner. Have your your key to enter the house and your rooms after hours was nice to have. None of the room of have TV, which to be honest having that disconnection from the social world is super nice! Each room has it's own coolest and cute features, and nice to have a robe to climb into! We woke up with a knock on our door with French press coffee and morning treat before our three course breakfast ! Out in the garden side. Pictures uploaded !

Wow. This place is a gem! I'm so glad my husband brought me hear for my birthday. We stayed in the Oscar Wilde suite which was luxurious and romantic. Almost all of the lights were on dimmers that you could adjust (very wonderful). The toilet was in it's own room and the bathtub was huge. The bed was a big crazy (angled), but definitely unique and fun. Also, my husband informed them it was my birthday and we received complimentary cupcakes which where waiting under perfect little domes for us in our room. At the social hour (where there is wine and appetizers), the manager was kind enough to come over and open a bottle of cider for me as he'd noticed in our reservations that I'm currently pregnant. This was a very kind touch and it was much appreciated. The breakfast was amazing! We had a three course meal consisting of a Quinoa Oat Cranberry Muffin with fruit and yogurt (my favorite), Blueberry Pancakes, and Frittata. It was brought out to us on the porch course by course. The inn is easily in walking distance of downtown Stillwater, so it was only maybe a 7 minute walk to get to the restaurants down there for dinner. If I had any complaints at all, it would be that the house across the street has about 8-10 chairs that face the inn and seemed to almost constantly be filled with men sitting in them and staring out at the inn. Not sure what was going on over there, but it was odd and a bit eerie. I don't fault the inn for this as you can't exactly choose your neighbors, but it's just something I noticed.

This is a very, very nicely restored and upgraded property. Inside main house, clean, artfully and timely decorated. Yet very comfortable and welcoming, not hands off and stuffy. Outside the grounds well utilized with fountains and areas to socialize. We stayed at the top floor, very comfy, impressive. The attention to the restoration and quality building materials noted. You can tell the ownership or management of the property have an eye for detail and high standards. The informative staff are great, willing to talk as much or as little as you need too. Stillwater has a gem here. The other guests, well they are good fun people just like you. Celebrating a milestone or just getting away and taking it all in. Oh, the piano plays like a dream. No CNN , just the important things in life, like the loved one you brought and the memories you will make. Thank you Rivertown.

OMG this was the most gorgeous experience I've ever had (well, I was 20 at the time, so that's not probably saying much, but still, AMAZING). Rivertown Inn has absolutely beautiful interiors and they have restored/refurnished the house with the most opulent and authentic furniture/fixtures I've seen almost anywhere. Every inch is the real deal. I stayed in the Lord Byron suite and while his life is more than enough inspiration for what to do with the giant bathtub, I could seriously imagine old Lord B kickin' back with some opium on the four poster bed. The chef here is amazing, too. His breakfasts were romantic and delicious, full of savory goodness and I often have tasty dreams about the blueberry muffin that I had (which, I have to say, he put in a bag for me to take to the hospital when I figured out had mono during our stay). How nice is that? A great mini-vacation close to home. I would say I would go back, because I'd totally love to, but boy I went here with and I didn't end up working out... so going back would be awkward... And now this review is awkward... I apologize. Props to the Rivertown Inn though!

The Rivertown Inn is a gorgeous, luxurious B&B. For my wife's birthday, we stayed in the Agatha Christie room, a room modeled after a luxurious sleeping car on the Orient Express. For Agatha Christie fans or railroad buffs, this room is sure to be a hit. The rest of the B&B was equally beautiful. Breakfast was delicious as was the coffee. Service was perfect.

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. We spent the night in the Agatha Christie suite and it is worth every penny. Amazing attention to detail and great amenities. We will be back, and look forward to spending many more nights in this suite!

The Rivertown Inn was absolutely enchanting. My husband and I were married at the end of June in a small intimate ceremony. They for the chairs ready for us and helped us out with all of the little details. Elise is FANTASTIC. I'm a little OCD with planning things and she checked in with me and put up with our crazy crew. We stayed in the Agatha Christie room, the grand suite, and it was amazing. Put together, clean, and gorgeous. It had its own little patio as well. The three course gourmet breakfast was to die for. We will definitely be coming back!

I am a foodie and this is by far the most disappointed I have ever been with a meal. If only zero stars were an option. What a waste of $75 "Jamaican" theme meal that severed thick and goopy/starchy soup along with the driest jerk chicken tenders. Who serves chicken tenders at a high end dinner? If only the chef could be a fly on the wall and hear all the disappointed conversations at the surrounding tables. Not even an attempt to make it right. This is by far our favorite bed & breakfast. It is also the first one we went to (for our 4th anniversary) so every place we've been since we've compared to the Rivertown Inn. It is a stunning inn from the outside and even more gorgeous on the inside. We stayed in the Lewis Carroll Bedchamber (one of the cheapest rooms) and it was like living in a fairytale. Everything about the room was perfect - including the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The wine/cheese was a perfect welcome and breakfast downstairs the following morning was nothing short of divine. Next year we are, no doubt, going back to the Rivertown Inn.

This bed and breakfast is truly amazing in every way. The decor is fantastic, the staff are wonderful, and the breakfast is outstanding! As others have said this isn't an inexpensive night away, but you get what you pay for! If you're looking for a unique and charming experience I can confidently recommend a night (or two) at the Rivertown Inn.

Well I stayed here a few weeks ago and I still can't stop thinking of the breakfast and the hotel itself. Lovely inn, great area, gorgeous rooms, and most importantly amazing staff. I've stayed in a few inns recently traveling across the U.S and I do think this might very well be the best bed & breakfast in the U.S. It's that nice! I stayed in the Browning room and I must say it was like something out of the movies. I highly recommend this place even though the price is expensive it's worth the extra bucks for sure.

We used it as a honeymoon suite for the night after our wedding. It was amazing! We stayed in the Agatha Christie Carriage House!

My wife and I stayed in the Lewis Carrol room this past weekend and were absolutely floored by the experience. The attention to detail was stunning and the overall ambiance was romantic yet comfortable. It's a very short walk from downtown Stillwater and proved to be well worth the higher price-tag. And OH MY GOSH the breakfast was amazing! I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend the Rivertown Inn. We'll be back!

I have been here twice and the service was amazing both times. My fiance and I enjoyed our experience here so much, we decided that eloping here would be a great idea. After many emails back and forth to staff at Rivertown Inn to ask about vendor options, pricing, and other information, we finally called to confirm our registration and schedule our wedding (yay!). While on the phone, we were told that the price we were quoted for our room and the elopement package was wrong, and they would need to charge us an extra $500 (an extra 1/2 of the original total cost). We stated again that we were quoted the first price already and the person with whom we were speaking stated that it was a mistake and there was nothing she could do about it. After my amazing experience here, I was appalled at how we were treated over the phone. We were not even offered an apology, let alone an offer to discount our package (as the pricing mistake was not ours). We decided that we are going somewhere else to celebrate our special day. We expected better customer service and are very disappointed.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Rivertown Inn for our anniversary. We had a wonderful time! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the inn is in great condition. After having stayed at a few owner operated bed and breakfasts in the past, we definitely noticed the difference in this professionally staffed operation.

My husband and I stayed here one night in the summer for our wedding anniversary. It was lovely. The staff was professional and friendly. We stayed in the Lord Byron suite and it looked just like the pictures. We both got massages and they were great. The breakfast is made by a gourmet chef and it was truly unique and delicious! We had breakfast in our room and it topped off our amazing stay. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and unique getaway.

We got married here and had the entire B&B for the entire 4 days. The accommodations were amazing, the service was perfect and the food was some of the best we've ever had!

Very nice place. Home-y feel and the hosted social hour and gourmet breakfast is great. Get to meet some of the other guests!
