Staff was very nice. Lobby was very nice and left us wanting to lounge there. Snack and beverage options were we done. Proximity to all-things Santa Barbara was perfect. |The room was a little small but workable. Space was made worse since there is no closet for luggage but had a reasonable dresser cabinet. |We were on floor 2 facing State Street. Noise was high with the train near by and night-life below our window.|The bathroom shower has a poor concept resulting in water spreading to much the rest of the bathroom. |I had to use towels to soak up water and maintain reasonable foot traction. By day 2, it felt a little nasty dealing with a daily wet bathroom from the poor shower concept.

Unfortunately, our stay at the Rivera Beach House was incredibly poor. Not only did the cleaning staff enter our room both mornings despite a “do not disturb” sign on the door, but the plumbing periodically had issues (sink stopped working, toilet was running/wouldn’t flush). The cleanliness was also less the spectacular— the robes had hair and stains on it. Additionally, it was not communicated that if we returned after midnight that our key card would not work. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful but often were hard to find. Wish our stay was better.

Google
A decent hotel for the price. Great location. Overall really great staff. The rooms need improvements and they could use a mini fridge and microwave for convenience. Also could use more space to hang items. But the extra touches of the fresh fruit waters downstairs and the weekend sangria and snacks was lovely.

Google
Great location and comfortable hotel. Unfortunately it's a bit noisy due to the restaurant's machinery downstairs. There was noise in the corridor and room up to around 2am, which is not ideal. Apart from that, the service was good. It's location is the best of it, within walking distance to many points of interest.

Google
Excellent location on State St, a few blocks from the beach and steps away from endless shops and restaurants. Very comfortable, clean rooms with valet parking! While not cheap, it was a great value for a boutuque hotel at an outstanding location. Rooms only had 1 bed so best for single/couples.

Google
Everything was amazing except the rooms are tight. We got a double room with our kids and it was pretty small. The patio helped the space feel bigger. The bathroom was a bit odd with a door and a curtain on the shower....also very tight.

Google
The room was nice though small. We enjoyed having the extra space on the patio. The towels were nice and big and there were 2 robes provided. ||We enjoyed the fruited water, iced tea, coffee service (with oat milk creamer), and the afternoon sip. ||The staff was very friendly and personable with helpful suggestions about the area. ||The RBH is in an excellent location on State Street. Close to the wharf and beach. Steps away from interesting shopping in the Funk Zone. Close to downtown but not in the middle of the mix. We used the hotel bikes for a beach ride and to explore downtown.

Google
This hotel was above our expectations! All of the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful .... including the cleaning and maintenance staff! We did not encounter any problems with the room during our stay. The location was excellent .... 10 minute walk to eating and the beach area. Only 15 minute walk from downtown Santa Barbara. The hotel had a great lobby for sitting and socializing. They also had a good selection of snacks/drinks/food for purchase in the lobby area. An added benefit was the restaurant attached to the hotel. Although the room was small .... you have to keep in mind that you are in California and that you are only spending minimal time in the room. We also ad a small outside patio. We felt like it was a great place for our money.

Yelp
PROS -Design/Decor. -Staff was great -Location great -Santo Mescal Restaurant downstairs, fantastic (+ they let you order room service, and plate it for you to your door). -Coffee/Tea 24-7/Fruit -Lobby aesthetically lovely -Good for a Business trip CONS -Tiny room -Tiny room -Loud/train whistle -No Breakfast (though this is probably consistent in Santa Barbara) I have lived in NY before, so I don't need a ton of square footage. However, when we arrived (2 adults + 1 small dog), it felt very tight. Since it was cold outside (not their fault), temperatures were not comfortable to utilize the nicely decorated patio/common area. We felt stuck, rather than a quiet retreat. Staff was impeccable and helpful. Amy recommended a breakfast spot (Jeannine's down the block) which was fab. Santo Mescal delivered to our room. -5 stars for the Garden Patio room we changed to (off peak night) -2 stars for the Standard King we had booked. -5 stars for Staff, Location, and restaurants nearby. -4 stars if you are here for business

Yelp
Don't let the pictures fool you. You're paying for location location location. Yes this is pet friendly but walls were very thin. You can hear every pet in the "motel" which means your pet can too. Bathrooms are more like hostil bathrooms if you've ever backpacked. Don't go for the upgraded they are not worth it. I went for a quick baby moon with our pup to be near the beach and i called ahead to ask for a room with a tub which they don't have by the way. The girl on the phone was misinformed. Ended up not going to the room unless we absolutely had to. The outdoor patio space that was part of the most deluxe room they had we were not able to use because the smell of tar( 8 months prego shouldn't inhale tar and paying to do it). Btw "the smell of tar is inevitable " according to the email I received after I tried to get a reduction on the room for all this mishaps. Good spot if you're young and gonna bar hop and can sleep through the dog barking. Not a place for kids or families. Verrrrrrrey small rooms and we stayed in the nicest one.

Yelp
The hotel has a really nice location. Walking distance to all places in Santa Barbara downtown. When you enter the hotel, the place itself has a cute vibe. However there are no elevators here, and there is dumb waiter to get your luggage upstairs. It was a bit awkward to handle. The rooms were far smaller than we were expecting. It is a quite small space. Also the valet was expensive here, around 48$ per night. There was public parking right opposite the hotel , that wasn't any cheaper though. Max charge was 48$ there as well. We were able to find some street parking on the following nights.

Yelp
Ok.....so we were told our room was ready. Out of fairness husband didn't show me until a day later because he knew I would leave....and this stay was non refundable. This is our ready room..... where we offered a different room, a discount for the lack of doing a cleaning job? NO. Just a.....I'm sorry we will clean it. This was a special getaway for us. Not ok by any means. And after they cleaned the wall and cabinet....do you think they would make up the bed? Clean towels? Nope! Nice establishment

Yelp
We absolutely loved the location of the hotel. The patio we had was adorable. The staff was super sweet as well! We would absolutely love to go back.

Yelp
This is a chic historic boutique hotel right on State St in downtown Santa Barbara. Beautiful lobby filled with art. They are pet friendly. However the rooms are micro tiny and there is no elevator. The valet/bellboy has the unenviable task of schlepping your luggage to a dumb waiter elevator. The rooms are uncomfortable small. Might be ok for a couple on a romantic weekend but sis not meet our need with 2 dogs. The 1st floor rooms have a patio. That was not availabe to us even though that was what we booked and were expecting. Nice property but not for me. Sorry.

Yelp
I totally fell in love with this beautiful quaint hotel. It was a I minute walk from the Amtrak station. From check in to check out, everyone was very accommodating. The rooms were small but beautifully designed. The entire hotel was fabulous. There was a Mexican restaurant next door that had great drinks and delicious food. Across the street was a Starbucks, bakery and a wonderful breakfast/brunch cafe. That night we ate a wonderful dinner at a seafood restaurant near the beach. Then later that night walked downtown and checked out the local bars and sscenery. I fell in love with this town and plan to stay there again but for a longer stay. It's a little pricey but definitely worth it. You actually save money by not having to Uber because a lot of what you may want to see is within walking distance.

Yelp
Upon checking into our room we were struck by the smell of mold. The room was so musty and moldy smelling that I approached the front desk to let them know of my concerns. The GM was nice and showed me another room, same problem. She said it is because the building is so old and due to the moisture in the air it's normal. We tried to stay and within 30 minutes my nose was stuffy, my eyes and throat irritated. I couldn't bare it. We left the hotel and they did give us our money back with an apology, but this should really be noted up front because we went to another hotel and it did not smell like that at all.

Yelp
Get place to stay prefect location right across from Starbucks and the Mexican restaurant downstairs is excellent...will definitely stay here again...rooms are a lil small but when you are in beautiful Santa Barbara who's spending a whole lot of time in the room

Yelp
Pros: very nice staff Coffee / tea bar in lobby Pretty lobby Close to ocean Cons: PAPER thin walls and windows- very loud train outside with alarms/honking that starts 6:55AM Loud restaurant downstairs that's after 10:00PM Can hear babies CRYING in other rooms Loud music Music / conversations etc. Let's just say NOT peaceful and don't come here if you are a light sleeper Room doesn't look anything like gorgeous pictures on their website. Very very small and nowhere to put anything. Probably the smallest hotel room I have ever been in and I travel a decent about. If you don't need "quiet" and you're okay with the Amtrak alarms constantly going off.... Hearing people yelling outside, tv in other rooms, tiny rooms with nowhere to put your things... you will be ok here. I will not be back to this location, was barely able to sleep with so much commotion at all hours of the night.

Yelp
Upon entering the lobby, the hotel is beautifully decorated with a bright beachy theme - ready for photo ops in every angle. We found the front being handled by a single staff member who was very friendly and helpful. Be aware that this is a dog-friendly hotel, most guests including ourselves had brought along their pets. It was a nice welcome to be gifted a doggie bag filled with treats, poop bags, and even a toy. Valet was full on the day we checked in so we had to park in a lot located a few blocks out. Although it's a fenced lot, there is no security presence - yet it's still $30 to park there. Our room was located on the second floor. There is no elevator, but there is a dummy lift only for transporting large luggage. The room and bathroom was much smaller than anticipated, but nonetheless it was clean and stocked with basic amenities. Our room came with an issue, there was no power to the TV, phone, coffee maker, and any outlets to half of the room. The poor staff member who was the only one working tried to resolve our power issue on his own, but to no success. We couldn't switch to another room either because everything was booked that night. The kind staff said he'll leave a note for the GM to contact me to make up for the inconvenience. A week went by and no call, so I decided to call the hotel. I got in touch with the GM - June, who advised me to send her an email so that I can receive a voucher to make up the unfortunate stay. So I did, and with no initial response I followed up two more time via email - still no response. I called the hotel again to reach June, to which another staff reported that she had to jump into a meeting and will call me back. It's been two weeks since then and I still have not heard back from June. I was ready to give this hotel another chance, but the lack of response from the GM has been thinking otherwise.

Yelp
Cute boutique hotel in the heart of everything! It was clean, right across from train station if you plan to take train. Moxi museum next door if you plan to bring kids, and tons of food and wine bars nearby. All walking distance! And it's a short walk to the beach! Rooms remind me of staterooms on a cruise ship as far as size. So book solo if you aren't traveling with someone you are really comfortable with. Please keep the location and room size in mind before booking.. depending on your travel reasons this may not be the place for you. Valet is $48 and they allow in and outs. Bed and pillows are clean and comfy. They have robes, keurigs, and offer fruits and filtered water. Didn't get the kind woman's name at front desk but she gave great recommendations and some deals with nearby wineries. So don't hesitate to ask. I will be back!

Yelp
The best part of our stay was the staff! Service was excellent. Jennie took care of everything we needed for my bf's birthday weekend. The location is perfect- central to all the restaurants on state street but also a quick walk to the beach. The rooms may be a bit smaller but we got a room with a garden view and it was perfect for us as a couple.

Yelp
We stayed at the Riviera Beach House for one night on our trip to California this month when he drove from LA to SF. The best thing about it? The location! You can walk to so much in Santa Barbara (wine tastings, restaurants, the beach, downtown Santa Barbara)! The hotel lobby was undergoing some renovations, so it's not much right now (I hope it'll look great soon), but the staff at the check in desk were really nice. There isn't an elevator in the hotel (just one large enough for luggage) - FYI for those with mobility issues or accessibility needs. The room was nice, comfortable. The parking is valet (I think $48/night), which was pricey but not unexpected given where the hotel is. The room and bathroom were nice. Overall, a nice place to stay that will be nicer when the construction in the lobby is completed!

Yelp
Tiny room. Bad Internet. Friendly but unhelpful staff. Overpriced. But great location.

Yelp
This hotel has obviously seen an overhaul or major renovation since the Muppets ran it decades ago. And while the rooms are so small they make my ass look big (It's like putting on spandex), I can't wait to come back. The place was immaculate, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the staff was SO nice. I gush but they deserve it. I took the train up from LA, two hours, and it dropped me off like an UBER at the front door. The hotel is right in the middle of all the good stuff; on State Street, two blocks from the Warf. The room I was in had its own little garden/patio and it was so relaxing and quiet. I will be returning as soon as I get a couple of days off back-to-back or even for an overnighter. I have already recommended it to friends. (Full disclosure; my first night of three that I was in Santa Barbara I got food poisoning at a nearby Barbeque place. That review is coming. But I was sequestered to my room for 48 hours or so which might have colored my review on the size of the room. Well, that and the fact I'm a large fella.)

Yelp
UPDATE: Yesterday, I spoke with the manager Malik about reviewing the erroneous charges. I have to say that he completely redeemed my customer service experience. He listened to my concerns, reviewed the charges, explained the deposit fee of $50 which went off and the extra charge of $170 which he saw was indeed a mistake and made sure that it was taken care of. The initial double room charge was also reversed and I confirmed it with my bank. It's the simplist of things to do and can make a world of difference is just being respectful. Malik handled my concerns with professionalism and respect and I am very happy with how it was resolved. I also appreciate how the business owners promptly responded to my post and I am am mending my review. The follow up from the hotel is very appreciated. I stayed for one evening. The hotel is charming, clean. Rooms are extremely small but beds are comfortable. It looks like they are going for a beach bungalow kinda vibe. There is no elevator and a very small lift to take your luggage up to the second floor. If you have a bad back or any physical impediments, I would recommend you get assistance. I was lucky someone was around to help me. If there wasn't I would have been very frustrated and there are no instructions or even signs to let you know there is a lift for luggage. Jenny who was working the desk was very kind and helpful. Regarding the rooms - very awkward storage situation, especially the closest where your clothes and the coffee/water station are all in the same place. Don't bring any long garments to hang up unless you want it to drape over the coffee maker. Closets can only accommodate short garments such as jackets, dresses, and shirts. At the time the room rate was 127.00 per night which was very reasonable for SB. I would have given this place a much higher rating if it weren't for my unpleasant customer service experience with Thomas and the fact that they made erroneous charges on my credit card! After I checked out and got home, when viewing my bank statement, I saw they had double charged me for the room and for parking. Then there were two more charges that I didn't recognize and that were not reflected on my receipt. When I called to ask that they take those charges off, Thomas spoke over me, cut me off, and promptly told me that there was nothing he could do about it and that I would have to take it up with my bank. Very rude, no apology, or accountability. I might have considered recommending this place and had left a better rating, but my interaction with Thomas and the multiple charges to my account - which is a basic violation of trust in any business practice -(or apparently the young lady who was checking me out made a mistake) really put me off this place.
google avatar

Dana T.

Yelp
It's a 3 star hotel - what're ya expecting! The rooms have what you need, but they are on the smaller side. If I had to guess, my room was around 150 sq ft. Barely fits the bed, a few hangers for jackets and things. Bathroom is tiny. There's (finicky) AC in case it's a hot month. Hopefully you'll be spending the majority of your time outside the hotel and not indoors!
google avatar

Gary Y.

Yelp
This is a small boutique hotel - we booked here for an overnight stay on a road trip to LA and Joshua Tree right before it was rebranded as Riviera Beach House (used to be Indigo Hotel, part of the IHG conglomerate). The rooms are tiny and not very spacious. If you've been to a Japanese business hotel - it's about that size. What's really nice is the location and beddings - it's just a few blocks away from the wharf / beach and the bed is super comfy. Accessible to all of the nearby restaurants. Oh, parking was funky as well - the valet onsite is like $45 per night but you can park in an offsite lot that's 2 blocks away for $20. If you are just looking to crash for a couple nights - this is not a bad place to stay.

Yelp
Great hotel close to good restaurants and shops. Walking distance to beach. Rooms are small but nice and clean. The front desk was extremely helpful and accommodating.

Yelp
3 stars + 1/2 star since they upgraded us to a room with a small patio, which was a very appreciated once we saw how small the room was! PROs: Great location, service, public seating areas with views of the bustling street, very comfortable bed. CONs: ultra tiny room, bathroom door that doesn't give any privacy I recommend this place for the location, comfy bed, and great people-watching patio, but you'll want to stay here with someone you're REALLY, REALLY comfortable with since they'll have intimate knowledge of all your bathroom habits!
google avatar

Yelp
The Riviera Beach House is a smaller boutique hotel. The location is really great, it is a short walk to the beach, pier and downtown area. Our room was perfect, clean, quiet and comfortable. It is not largest room, but the space was more the adequate. The hotel staff was also very friendly and helpful. We used their offsite parking for $20.00. There is also a great restaurant next door. We would definitely stay here again when visiting SB.

Yelp
My husband & I just left & were so happy to. We staid for 2 nights. Where do I begin. Location & restaurant are good. 1st of all no elevator. Only 2 floors which is fine but when I have a bad knee going up & down the stairs was hard especially with luggage. TV only worked 1 day, no hot tub or pool (yes the beach was 1 block away) but at night we like relaxing in a hot tub, if you only want to pay $30 a night for parking it's 1 1/2 blocks away so we used valet for $48 a night, rooms are very small, trucks woke us up early this morning. I could go on & on. We will never stay there again.

Yelp
The rooms were pretty small which was ok. We ended up booking wrong and only had a room with 1 bed. I went and asked how much an extra room was, $205. Not a big deal. We went out and grabbed dinner, we came back and the room was $245. I wasn't going to go anywhere else so we paid the extra. The room was more expensive but wasn't even as nice as the room we paid less for. The bed was so squeaky that I had lot trouble sleeping. I said something on checkout about how bad the bed was and the person working the front said they would have maintenance look at. Awesome...

Yelp
Such a cute hotel!! The lobby is such a vibe. Perfect location as well, close to all restaurants, the beach, pier. The rooms are very small but that's the smallest complaint here. Definitely our new hotel to stay in Santa Barbara!

Yelp
Oh boy. This one is hard. I'll start off first with the staff. The staff was wonderful, kind, helpful and informative. They were great. Valet: Valet is a third party company. It's also $48 a night. There is really no point for them. So the building has a parking lot next to it. Maybe has 15 spots total. Valet did not even park our car. All they do is hold on to your keys "in case they need to re-arrange the cars to make room for a bigger car." Valet informed us that if they weren't there, to ask the front desk for our keys. There were one or two times where we asked the front desk for our keys upon learning the valet wasn't there, and the staff wasn't informed that they were missing, so they had to hunt down the valet person. Idk where that person went, but oh well... The hotel might as well just charge their guest $50 to park there on their own, install a blink camera for security and pocket the money themselves because it is a joke. Now overall ownership. Ownership has failed this location. First off, they are totally taking advantage of the whole "Covid inflation" but what they are offering is no where near what others are offering. The rooms are barely big enough to fit a queen bed. There is no room in the closet because there is a kerraig in there instead. There is a tiny desk and shower that folds out because it is too small to just install a wall. Our room was $250 for a Monday night. On the other hand there is a hotel across the street with normal size rooms. The night before we stayed in a hotel in Beverly Hills that was 6 times the size of this room and I am not exaggerating. It was the same price as this place for a Friday and Saturday night. The owner either needs to charge less for what they have which is location and that is it. Or, they can charge what they are charging or maybe even more if they knock down the wall between every other bedroom and take out one of the bathrooms to make 1 normal size room. Overall, this place is a scam. But again, it has nothing to do with the staff. It is so obvious their hands are tied and they are doing everything in their power to make the best of the situation for their guests. But ownership has really done every single person involved a disservice.

Clyde C.

Yelp
The best thing about this property is its location in State St and its lobby. But the downsides are many. The rooms are very small, and while that can work, they really need to redesign the layout like a Japanese capsule hotel or an airport hotel, for such a tight space to feel comfortable. Another big thing is that you will have to pay $45/night for parking, and even though they advertise as a pet friendly hotel, they charge an extra $75/night for your pet. So if you are intending to bring your dog and park your car, you will be paying an extra $110/night on top of the base hotel rate. By which point, you will end up paying the same rate for a much nicer hotel nearby. So do your research and check all the added fees before you book.

Yelp
My bf and I have nothing but great things to say about our stay here. Attention to detail and hospitality started from the moment we pulled up to the valet. Hank was kind, observant & attentive. When we walked into the lobby we were checked in by June. June delivered such a memorable and welcoming experience. We chatted with her about football & her recommendations around the area. She definitely helped get us excited about our stay! When we were walking to our room and I let out a sigh of being finally at our destination and said to my bf gosh she's so nice. He responded that's hospitality at its finest. We would definitely stay here again! Go birds!

Yelp
This was my third stay at Riviera Beach House in the past year. It's a beautiful, charming, hotel in a perfect location - next to the beach, cafes, restaurants, bars, wineries, all within easy five minute walks. The rooms are quiet, spotlessly clean and well maintained. But the real reason I keep going back? The staff are great, particularly Judy. I had a family emergency and ended up extending and changing my room reservation several times. Each time the staff was incredibly understanding and helpful. They always asked how I was doing and what I needed. They turned the hotel into an oasis during a very difficult time.

Yelp
Cute hotel, great staff and great location. My husband and I were traveling to Solvang and caught in the Santa Barbara floods/mudslides and forced to find lodging in Santa Barbara. We were lucky enough to find a room here and the staff was so lovely and accommodating while I am sure they were also concerned with staying safe themselves. The place overall was very cute and quaint and well appointed. The room was small but comfortable. The place has the best coffee I have had recently, is attached to a wonderful restaurant, and they have bikes to take on the town (when the rain stopped). We opted to self park on the street behind the hotel for free. We would not hesitate to stay here again, but hopefully next time we will make it to Solvang (with a quick stop in Santa Barbara).

Yelp
The people we were greeted by at the front desk were very nice and helpful. I believe the manager, Janet, was one of those people. They were the only good part about our stay. Our room looked NOTHING like the beautiful pictures on their website and the room was SO SMALL! Like bite size Polly Pocket-sized. It was just my husband and I and we were basically on top of each other in that room. I could BARELY fit my bag in there! The bathroom was also EXTRA small and water leaked out from the side by the toilet-not safe. The air circulation was really bad because each room has it's own A/C unit attached to the ceiling facing the bed, so it was either VERY cold (if you turned the unit on) or VERY warm if you left it off. Even opening the windows, the circulation was lacking tremendously. My husband caught a cold from those inconsistent sleeping temperatures and was sick for a week after we got back. He was miserable. Also, the bed was the MOST uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in at a hotel in my life. We couldn't wait to get home so we could actually sleep well. This place is NOT worth the price tag, I don't care how convenient it is in proximity to shops and restaurants. The attached restaurant was OKAY. It should be a ceviche restaurant and that's about it. Don't believe the hype about this place. We will not be back. It's cute on the outside and that's about it. Oh and also? No elevator. It's 2023. I can't.

Yelp
I would never stay here again. Online rates were $210 per night. We arrived at 11:30 PM and they would not honor the online price and instead they charged $265 per night. it's not even about the money it's just the point.... we were going to be at the hotel for less than 12 hours and they would not honor the lower rate. Be cautious here, they are shady.

Yelp
A very nice clean hotel. Upon arriving for our overnight stay the front desk had a dog toy ready for our French bulldog. The hotel is clean and mostly quiet. One word to describe this place is DAMP room they need a de humidifier in these room to make it smell nice and dry

Natalia C.

Yelp
I just recently stayed here with my sister and the location and the decor of the hotel are great. However there were problems like $48 per day to valet!! and there is no service and you r lucky if u get the right car. The check in and out staff were completely out to lunch. They neglected to tell us upon check in the you r to order room service hence we had none and our shared room was the size of a postage stamp! Then to top it off the check out staff totally screwed up the billing on both our cards causing us to call them to straighten it all out!

Yelp
Out of 5 stars, I would give it a 2. I think I'm being generous. I gave 2 stars, as the rooms and spaces, were immaculate. It is very anesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Of course it's Santa Barbara, so you're entitled to a very small room, no elevators, taking luggage up several stairs. So fun!! Plus you get a work out. Don't forget the 48 dollars a night for valet parking, which has absolutely no security or cameras. Or you can park in self serve for 30 dollars a night, a few blocks away. They don't guarantee parking. If they have an event ( wedding) you are on your own. No refrigerator In Rooms. Can be very noisy, cuz again stairs and they have a lounge. Also their garbage pick up is at 6am. Don't stay out late, thinking you'll be able to sleep in. Then there's the front desk, where Rupert (not his real name) is there to look down his snubby nose at you. God forbid you have a question. When he answers questions, he is very condescending. Welcome to Santa Barbara! Next time stay in Solvang!!! #Rivierabeachhouse

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK HERE. We ended up calling to cancel after booking a different (nicer) hotel for the same price. Riviera ended up charging my credit card anyway for a stay that was cancelled after we got home from SB, and when I called for a full refund, they refunded my *first night* only before I could say no, making any kind of credit dispute impossible. We did not stay here based on previous reviews stating dated rooms and poor service, but this experience and negligent management can be added to the mix. We miss the Hotel Indigo.

Yelp
came to see the art exhibit on the 1st and second floor. great addition to any SB visit

Yelp
The rooms are miniature. Like dollhouse rooms but somehow for adult sized humans. The patio is as large as the bedroom but you'd never go out there because it's about as pleasant as hanging out in a garage. The rooms are extremely stuffy and the a/c is minimal at best. You pay an extraordinary amount of money for the seriously mediocre. It is also loud. So expect every conversation you have to be heard by your neighbor. Including that of the gastrointestinal variety because the walls are that thin. Oh and not a single person wears a mask. Ick. PS. Parking is nearly $40/day (another absurd rip off) but you can find street parking.

Yelp
As advertised, the rooms are micro sized, probably 100 SQ ft and the reservation price is around $300 a night. Parking is two blocks away, uncovered, no security for an extra $30 a night. Get ready to haul your luggage for two blocks and across the train tracks. Two night stay with dogs will run you close to $1,000.

Yelp
Well one thing I can say was that it was clean, if you ignore the wads of dust on the bathroom exhaust fan. And the staff was great. Location very good. So yeah three things. Other than that, if you like the sound of everything going on in every room around you, a room the size of a postage stamp, bathroom where the floor soaks with every shower, too-cute roll up blinds to hide the hanging "closet" and rates that are beyond crazy, this is the place for you.

Yelp
The hotel .... First off we were checked into a handicapped room, which later I found out is called accessible .... We asked to be moved right away and we're told no other rooms available. The room had no closet no drawers to put ur clothes and the Coffee pot was on top of the safe in a corner barely enough room to walk around the bed it was like a cubical. We offered to pay upgrade fees to get out of the room and were refused . The room was across from the house keeping storage and laundry so we heard that all day and night. Our room shared a wall with the conference room or gym not sure but we had noise from that all hours as well . The worst wass the remote blinds ... we couldn't get them up or down when we called the front desk the gentleman came and said he didn't know how to fix it , it was at least 100 degrees everyday so we had hot sun all day in the room and then no privacy at night because we couldn't get the blinds down . We asked for the manager on two different occasions both times he was not available, either he had gone home or he was in meetings. This hotel is more like a boutique cubical and the service was sub par .... We won't be back.

Yelp
Love this hotel. My favorite spot to stay at when I'm in Santa Barbara! Very nice and close to the beach!

Yelp
Location, location, location! This bright, clean boutique hotel is a short walk to the beach, pier, cafes and train station. Our small but efficient ground floor room was modern and spotless with a large outside patio that we enjoyed using in the morning and in the afternoon before dinner. The restaurant next door, Santo Mezcal has wonderfully creative cocktails and upscale Latin food. If the restaurant is full, which it often is, they will deliver to your room, patio or the sidewalk tables in front of the hotel. Our dinner there outside on a warm September night was fantastic. Breakfast was good but there are other bakery/cafes in the neighborhood worth checking out. We enjoyed Helena Bakery for a light breakfast and cute patio setting. The hotel provides bikes with baskets and there was always a friendly face at the desk to answer our questions. Checking in and out was quick, friendly and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riviera Beach House! Full disclosure: At first I was a little taken back by the small efficiency style room size but quickly adjusted when I realized it had everything I needed and the location was so spectacular. The small patio really added an extra living space for us. I felt it was good value for the price. Beware valet parking is $48. Public parking across the street is $30 and there is a park at your own risk lot at the train station. We will take the train from San Diego next time and leave the car at home. We just didn't need it.

Yelp
Wasn't at all what I expected especially for the price! For one night it was over 600 dollars, and the room was tiny lucky my girl was a trooper but man! And then to top it off they made me walk 2 blocks with all my luggage cause the parking g lot was full, santa barbara is nice but just make sure you get the specs on the room before you go the restaurant was goo the food was ok but it's more for the drinks and the party atmosphere if your looking for something romantic maybe Carpinteria anyway im walking away dispointed won't be going back anytime soon.

Yelp
Incredible location that is essentially attached to the train station but close to the beach and so many cute shops. The receptionist, Danny, was so awesome and gave us the best recommendations!

Yelp
Great location (a short walk to the pier), friendly staff, and clean, well-kept facilities. The showers are a bit odd with a fold-out glass panel and curtain, so water gets somewhat messy in the bathroom. The water got cold after 10 minutes. Staff on shift seemed unfamiliar with the hotel's accessibility features. When we checked in, the concierge asked "I see you've requested a handicap room, which you don't really need, right?which we found very inappropriate. He understood the rooms to just provide wheelchair accessible showers, whereas the website advertised visual alarms (door and fire) for the deaf, etc., which was why we booked the room. When we realized that there *were* rooms with these alarms, we went back to the desk, and he changed our room promptly and efficiently. I believe this more to be because of lack of awareness or training than rudeness as he was very helpful when we specified what we were looking for. Additionally, our booking was somehow mis-scheduled, which caused a good bit of stress, but they were very helpful and didn't charge us to reschedule the room when we "no-showed" the booking we didn't schedule. Overall, though, we did have a very pleasant stay and enjoyed Santa Barbara!

Yelp
Our stay was lovely! The price was very competitive to the other hotels in the area but the feel of this hotel was lux, simple but chic in comparison. The location is amazing- about 2 blocks from the ocean and from a lot of great restaurants and tasting rooms, etc! Our room was right on top of a restaurant below and I though that might be a noisy problem but with the windows closed it wasn't a problem. The hallway is noisy and at 3 in the morning there was some drama from a couple staying across the hall, but that was not the hotel's fault...but it did wake us up several times- so just a note if sleeping soundly is your top priority this place might not be the right choice for you. The train is also very close so that woke us up once too. One more thing to know is that there is a parking lot a short walk away that is an extra 30$ charge but the lot right next to the hotel is very small and was full. I give it 5 stars because of the nice staff, the cleanliness, the clean comfy bedding, the inspired ambiance, and the location.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just stayed here last weekend and had the best experience. We both used to live in Santa Barbara and we always choose this hotel when we visit because it's small, easy, clean, trendy, and you can walk to almost everything!!!! It's so convenient to be able to walk to the funk zone, shopping on state street, the beach, the farmers market, etc. I want to shout out DAVID who made our stay so great. David was extremely friendly and accommodating, gave us recommendations, and really made us so excited to be in good hands during our stay. Very impressed with him! Thanks for everything, we will be back hopefully soon!
