My fiance and I came here for Dine LA for dinner last week. We were excited because the three course meal also came with a glass of wine and everything sounded great on the set menu.
Everyone who served us was very kind and pleasant however, we feel it was the biggest waste of ~$100 we have spent in a while (which was around what our total was for two of the dine LA dinners with tax and tip).
The glass of wine was in a tiny champagne glass, you could easily drink it in three gulps, it was by no means a glass more of a shot. Our appetizers were great, we tried both the lite house and the tom kha surf and turf, very pleased with those (honestly the only part of the meal worth remembering).
Our entrees were the problem, the lamb massaman curry (which was misspelled on the dine la website for a bit as lamp mussamun, this should have been our first indication to run) was unexciting and not filling. Also, someone blew up the bathroom and as I walked over to use it I could smell it by the tables. Second hint that we should have ran. Disgusting
Our biggest disappointment was our second entree, the east west rolls. The rolls themselves were decently tasty, however, the "seared japanese wagyu beef" on top of the roll was seriously awful. My finance tried one and literally gagged at the table because of the beef. It was so fatty it was inedible, it almost got stuck in your throat on the way down. I was so put off by it that I took it off of every single roll that I had. So basically, the most expensive part of the roll was all thrown in the garbage because it was so repulsive.
I kid you not, the whole way home I felt so sick just thinking about the beef and I was scared I would wake up that night with food poisoning. It was basically like a slug on top of the rolls, what a huge waste. We have had seared wagyu beef before and this was nothing even close to that.
The dessert was fine, nothing to write home about, we got both the fried ice cream and the thai tea creme brulee. Overall, we were not thrilled with anything, rather disappointed with the portions and the quality of everything we tried that evening, and feel that we wasted our money on a meal that we had to throw away and a meal that made us nauseated.
I am sorry to write a bad review, I am. We wanted to like this place, we wanted to enjoy the one night we dine out a week, but instead we felt like we threw money at food that was not worth it whatsoever.
