Great wine, just don't join the wine club.
I have enjoyed the wines at Roadhouse for many years and was a club member until I moved away to Reno. Last June, I stopped at the tasting room on a wine tasting trip in the area, bought a case of wine and rejoined the club.
I was charged for a wine club shipment at the end of the summer and then another in the October. The only problem is they didn't send the wine! So I called the tasting room and Zane Shocknesse said that they had unexplained "logistics problems" and they would send the wine right away. Two weeks go by and still no wine. I called again and arranged to pick up the wine while heading to the Bay Area for Thanksgiving.
Another club charge was made In January and you guessed it, no wine was shipped. This time I sent a message to Eric the owner through LinkedIn. The next day Van Seibel, the tasting room manager emailed with a profuse apology, refunded the shipping charge for the two shipments I picked up in November and then he actually shipped the wine.
In the middle of March there was another charge of more than $350 for the next shipment. It wasn't until May when I realized the wine wasn't shipped. Filing a credit card dispute seemed my only option since I received no response to emails sent on May 28th and May 31st. Multiple phone calls to Roadhouse Winery resulted in an automated message that the call could not be completed, or no message could be left because their voicemail box was full. OMG, did Roadhouse go out of business?
No, because yet another charge for $318.19 was made by Roadhouse Winery on June 1st, just a few hours after I disputed the charge made in March! Happily, both charges were refunded by my credit card company. I never heard from Eric, Van of Zane or anyone else from Roadhouse. I am tempted to stop by Roadhouse and see what's happening the next time I am in Healdsburg, but probably will not. Afterall, there are so many other good wineries in the area that offer great Pinot Noirs, and without "logistics problems".
