Where to Stay in Brisbane When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"Across from the main train station, I find Roamer Brisbane a strong budget option: an upscale-feeling hostel with private rooms and dorms painted in warm tones, pod-style bunks with curtains and outlets, and extras like a co-working area, outdoor cinema terrace, library, and a fully equipped kitchen." - Matthew Kepnes

I stayed in room 104. Originally I had been ‘upgraded’ to a 4 bed, so I went to check it out. The room was practically a shoe box with no space for luggage/for any kind of movement. The room also stank badly of damp and there was a dehumidifier in there. These are not the conditions you expect when you are paying AT LEAST £20+ a night. I asked to be moved back to my original 10 bed booking and one of the staff was really kind and understood my request. The 10 beds are a lot more spacious which is good. However, as stated I stayed in room 104. I forgot to take photos as I was in a rush this morning, but in the bathroom it was all mouldy in and around the shower on the walls (for reference please go and take a look in the bathroom). The bathroom was also genuinely kept in a bad condition and could do with a refurb, smelling drains etc. I can’t fault the staff here as everyone was lovely. But it is frustrating paying so much more for hostels in Australia over Asia and the standard being much lower. I wouldn’t not recommend staying here as the location is okay, the bigger dorms are defo spacious/good bed space. But in certain rooms the mould/damp problem needs to be sorted out as this is not acceptable and can cause genuine health problems

I love the vibe and the interior. It feels so cozy and homie. I’ve just arrived from the bus station at Roma Street and walked through the station very easily. It’s so convenient to stay right in the city centre. The room is clean and has enough space for luggage. I also got a free drink today. It felt like a welcome drink! Only downside I couldn’t find any spoons in the kitchen, just knives and forks ._. Other than that, everything has been great! P.S. The staff are really friendly and incredibly kind, the girl at the bar and Omar at the reception. Thank you for making my holiday so great! HNY 🎉✨

I had an excellent stay at Roamer Brisbane especially in the private room! The room was clean, comfortable, and had a private ensuite which made the stay feel really relaxing and peaceful. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with recommendations and check-in. The location is outstanding literally across from Roma Street Station and walking distance to everything in the city. Loved the cosy vibe and the option to enjoy great food and drinks downstairs at the bar. Definitely worth 5 stars and highly recommended for anyone wanting a private, comfortable stay in Brisbane!

I had a great stay at this hostel in Brisbane! The location is perfect — close to everything you might need and easy to get around the city. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, which made my stay very comfortable. The staff are incredibly friendly and always ready to help. A special thanks to Ormar and Jonathan for their kindness and assistance during my stay — they really made a difference! I’d definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Brisbane.

Such a sweet hostel! The staff are all so attentive and friendly. There’s events on every single day so it’s super easy to make friends. The rooms have curtains and plenty of storage space which is always amazing. Super clean and the kitchen is well equipped. 10/10 would stay again!

Excellent Hotel with Great Location and Staff!I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is fantastic: just a 3-minute walk from the railway station, and close to the embankment, the city hall, and many shops and cafes. My standard room was spacious and quiet with a courtyard view. The reception staff were very friendly and efficiently solved any questions we had. A great addition is the very cozy bar-pub on the first floor – perfect for a snack, a drink, or meeting friends. Highly recommended!

We were in this hotel in November 2025 - we had room with private bathroom. Room is small but enough - equipped with bed, wardrobe, coffee/tea, electric kettle. Bathroom is nice with good quality cosmetics. Hotel offer few free activities - music evening, day with game, etc. Hotel placed close to main train station were Airport train stopped (~1km). Nearby hotel are lots shops and restaurant (Metro, Subway etc) WiFi is OK - range is in all hotel areas. Breakfast for order (no buffet available) - benedict eggs with black coffee - delicious! In restaurant, where is breakfast, you can eat other good food and drink local beers - prices are average (~20-30 AUD for dishes, and 10-17 AUD for big beer). Location very good - only 2km from marina and famous Story bridge with beautiful view - especially during sunset when you eat dinner in Felong Brewing (we recomend it!). Hotel is ideal for couple who likes calm, nice and well located place in good price - we strongly recommend this place!
