Roaring Grill was recommended by a friend and we were very happy with the food, service and quality. We had a couple of entrees - 2 sliders and 6 oysters kilpatrick. For our mains, my wife and I shared the rib eye which was excellent while my daughters shared a stake sandwich. We all had dessert - sticky date pudding for me, 2 cheesecakes, and a chocolate lava cake. This was followed by 2 espressos for the adults. The food was tasty, served at a perfect pace and allowed us to experience an enjoyable evening meal. I would highly recommend dining at Roaring Grill. Simon and Geoff are both great!

Great ribeye Cape Grim Steak, cooked to perfection, with anchovy butter. Tasty & tender baked Pork Spare Ribs with Texan Marinade. Melt-in-the Mouth baked Bone Marrow with parsley butter. Fresh, crunchy coleslaw & crispy chips. Accompanied with Tasmanian Pinot Noir & craft beer. And, that was tonight's dinner served under the Hobart twilight sky, rooftop at The Roaring Grill. Excellent & friendly service & a quality dining experience at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommend the rooftop dining experience at sunset at Roaring Grill.

We visited Roaring Grill as a vegetarian family of two adults and a toddler, and it was an unforgettable experience! Chef Mike went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary requirements, and we were blown away by the food. The mushroom risotto was hands down the best we’ve ever had in our lives – creamy, flavorful, and absolutely perfect. We also enjoyed delicious roasted veggies and a refreshing mocktail that paired beautifully with the meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout the evening. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for families. Roaring Grill is truly a gem in Hobart, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s worth every visit, and we’ll definitely be coming back again!

This is a great restaurant for Beef, pork, chicken, lamb and more. When we entered, it was very charming. The wait was minimal, we got served immediately with a smile. We ordered the share platter for two and it had a bit of everything. The taste was amazing! Totally recommended as the price is right.

The fillet steaks were great. Service was really good. The blue cheese sauce didn't have a strong blue cheese flavour so don't get it if you're wanting that hit. The drinks were good. Creme brulee was good and tiramisu was tasty but would be better without the chocolate sauce at the bottom. Steaks were cooked perfectly which is great.

Best steak and Ribs in Hobart, the bone marrow on sourdough was phenomenal, we paired the Californian Cabernet Sauvignon and can’t wait to come back again and the service was unbelievable 5⭐️

Had arranged for a group booking as we were celebrating a birthday and wanted to try their set menu which was set at $65 a person. They were very accommodating and had no issue with any request ( which for us was swapping dessert option for the birthday cake we'd brought along). For entree you get a platter of a mix of food to pick and choose from and for the mains you get a choice out of 5 dishes (I chose the sirloin steak on mash and salad). All the food was delicious, filling and the staff were always at hand if you needed them. The service was great and they timed themselves between meals for clean up perfectly. The atmosphere was very warm and relaxing and we felt the value was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending them for a group booking. We were even given a discount for bringing our own dessert which shows how willing they are to be flexible. Great value!

This restaurant was recommended to us by the locals. I ordered the sliders and a side of Greek salad. My partner ordered the scotch fillet cooked medium with mushrooms sauce and a side of onion rings. My burgers were cooked well and tasted awesome. My partner’s steak was cooked well which he was very pleased with. The onion rings were cooked in a batter that was a little to thick. Great night, great meals and great service.

Yelp
I want Roaring Grill to blow me away, I really do. I want them to exceed expectations and I've given them two shots at this before writing, as I prefer to give a second opportunity to a poor to middling first experience before I commit words to a review, but round two was last night and was still just OK. My first RG experience was with a girlfriend who is a big fan. We were there on a Saturday night, so it was very busy and the place was booked out. We'd called up only a day or so early and had a late booking (for 8pm), but called that night to say "hey guys, if you have any earlier cancellations, feel free to give us a call because we're literally around the corner". Perhaps this was a bit of an alien notion to them because they came back defensively regarding being busy and reserved tables and so on... it's ok guys. It's ok. Having said that, they then called back fifteen minutes later to say we could come in an hour earlier. Ok... good. Onto the food. She got an eye fillet which was on the rare side of medium. I got a scotch which was on the medium side of medium rare. Different cuts, different cooking times, sure. A lot of steaks at a lot of places come out less than perfect. But at a steak restaurant, you can't help but hope they'll have it pretty bang on. Never mind, the steak was still tasty (and the champ potato mash was crazy good). The apple fritters for dessert blew our minds. An evened-out OK experience. My second RG experience was just last night: a Monday night, with a visiting friend from interstate. Monday night aka "hospo weekend" can be tough to find somewhere great to eat, but we were both feeling it and called forward just to make sure they could fit us in. They definitely could--there were maybe two other parties when we arrived, and by 8pm we were the lonely last diners. We were seated in the back dining area (I think it may have been the exact same table I was at last time) and I'll say it was to our misfortune, because being right near the open kitchen we could hear the staff discussing closing up, who'd go home first, hear them cleaning grills etc. In their business to do this they weren't too bothered with topping up our water glasses or even checking if we wanted anything else to drink. For the food: her pork ribs were falling off the bone--they looked delicious. My sliders were tasty, but messy--the bottoms of both buns disintegrated as I picked them up. The chips were top notch. We got apple fritters to share and the apple centres were undercooked and disappointing compared to the first time I'd tried them. Actually, having written all this out, I'm dropping my original three stars to two. I can't say it was OK--I've clearly been disappointed. Highs and lows to be had here! I'm sure being seated in the front dining room or upstairs would have made last night's atmosphere better. Having said all that, I'd like to try another steak here one day, and hopefully add another star or two.

Yelp
I ordered and really enjoyed the Tasmanian scotch fillet. It was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth. Also loved the tangy BBQ sauce and light, but tasty, slaw salad.

Yelp
This is the best place for carnivores in Hobart since old Dirty Dick's Steakhouse closed some many years ago. The service is brilliant, the menu brimming with all things grillable steak, fish, ribs et.,al., et.,al., et.,al., and the food preparation second to none. This is my third visit in two months and I'm ready to go again as soon as possible. On all my visits I have been boring because I always but always view the menu In totality and then revert to medium rare scotch fillet - large size 400+ grams- which is cooked perfectly AND the best in Australasia. They've thought of everything here and if you are with someone who is of, and prefers meat of, a more petite size then that is no problem ......or maybe it sometimes ..... my regular companion loves the honey ribs but the size is always far too large for her ...I successfully told her this on three occasions and have been able to persuade her to give me significant samples of her meal ....whilst fully eating my own of course. Highly recommend this place .....but book before you go.....the place is understandably very busy on most nights.

Yelp
The Roaring Grill is a very welcome addition for dining in North Hobart. We both decided on eye fillet steak (200 gram) cooked medium. It came with champ potatoes and chopped salad and we also ordered a vegetable side dish, although in hindsight we could have done without. Bear in mind we are not big eaters. The steak was very tender and tasty and beautifully cooked Shared a coffee infused crème brulee with almond biscotti which was most enjoyable. The meal however was a bit saltier than what we like. Service was good and the wait for the food was about what one would expect.

Yelp
Fantastic place for great tassie steak! Their house salad is really fresh and tasty, mash served with the steaks is good and they do cook their steaks properly! Fairly good range on the menu, heavily meat inspired as you'd expect from a grill house. Sauces could do with a bit more kick but over all I have always had good times at the roaring grill. P.s the onion rings are a must have!!!!

Yelp
Featuring juicy steaks and delicious donuts, this place has something for everyone. With its generous serving sizes and friendly staff you can expect a delightful dining experience. The chips are magic and the scallops were to die for. A family friendly atmosphere and an open view of the kitchen makes for a highly entertaining experience on a busy night!

Yelp
I have been to this new restaurant twice. The first time we had to wait a little bit to get seated, but the manager gave us free drinks for waiting which was excellent. The food was delicious, and one of the best steaks I've ever had. Second time around we walked straight in and sat down, and I had another spectacular steak. They've got it right at this place. Top food, great table service. You may have a short wait if they're really busy, but the food is worth it.
