Robert Louis Stevenson Museum

A very pleasant tour to an interesting historical place. Well presented and our tour was followed by a charming Somoan culture show highlighting their music and dancing. I only wish that they had more of RLS's books for sale.

I kind of wish it was just called his home, as the "museum" original artifacts are severely limited (ex. 2 chairs in one room, a metal safe in another room)... but it is decorated with many paintings and photos and RLS books and period furniture. Regardless at a mere 20WST ($7.25USD) per person to see this beautiful home, the gardens and grounds, and have a 25 minute guided tour - a great place to visit that no one should miss when they are in Apia. We didn't even have time to hike up to the grave, but there is always next time....

An interesting museum, showing a glimpse of the life of Robert Stevensons time in Samoa with his family. We received a information booklet which explained each room of the house and were able to walk though at our own pace.

The museum gives enriching insight into Stevenson’s final years in the house. Most of the furnishing and furniture were replicas except a few originals. The author moved to Samoa in 1889 and gained the affectionate name Tusitala, meaning "Teller of Tales." He is buried atop nearby Mount Vaea, overlooking the home.

Great history and beautiful surroundings. The tour guide was awesome and sung for us which topped it off. Easy to get to and park.

Very interesting place, cool airy rooms and a free tour included with ticket. An interesting life. Shop is full of tourist tat.

Interesting tour about 20 min, guide was nice - even sang a verse from one of his poems. We were only ones on tour but this was a week day. 20 Tala entry pp. huge grounds, walk to grave is 45 min steep way or 1.5 hours easy way - attempt on a cooler day or bring lots of water!

Beautiful manor house, stepping back in time, peaceful surroundings, kind staff. Hike up to the grave afterwards through the beautiful forest.
