Avoid if you're a SEN family - disgraceful treatment.
We made a 3-hour round trip so our disabled child could meet Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse, only to be met with rudeness, discrimination and zero understanding from staff, particularly Lisa Broome, the manager. Despite clearly wearing a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard and showing paperwork, our child was denied access while other neurotypical families enjoyed the experience just metres away.
Staff laughed while our child cried in confusion. Lisa dismissed our child’s needs, accused us of queue-jumping (we’d already waited an hour), and claimed to “understand” because she has children, missing the entire point of SEND differences.
Wheelgate Park clearly lacks any proper training in supporting children with disabilities. What should’ve been a joyful day became one of public humiliation and distress. Other families witnessed it and even left early in protest.
Their SEND-friendly marketing is a box-ticking exercise at best. If you care about inclusion, dignity or human decency, take your money elsewhere.
A heartbreaking and disgraceful experience.
