Rocca di Angera

Beautiful place, surprisingly few tourists. The castle is amazing, the garden is wonderful and smells miraculously. The view... The view is mind-blowing. The last entrance is at 17:00 and the castle is open till 18:00 but don't repeat my mistake - come no later than 16:00, and preferably sooner. This place is worth every second of your time.

What a wonderful place to step back in time and experience how glamorous life once was. The building is beautifully preserved, with elegant rooms, detailed furnishings, and stunning artwork that really capture the atmosphere of a different era. Every corner has something interesting to look at — from the architecture to the décor and lake views. It’s peaceful, full of history, and truly inspiring to imagine how people lived here in such style. Definitely a place worth visiting if you appreciate history, art, and beauty.

Nice place on the lake Maggiore, with a view and heritage to visit. The castle hosts an almost unique museum of dolls and toys which, alone, it's worth a visit. Not a cheap entrance ticket, but being private it makes sense.

It’s definitely worth visiting when traveling to Angera. A beautiful historic place, built in the 13th century, with impressive sights of Lago Maggiore and the Angera region.

A nice castle with an interesting toy museum. Recommend to go up to the tower so you can have a nice 360 view.

The castle Rocca di Angera is the must see place in Lago Maggiore. It is just stunning.

Nice castle and gardens to have a walk around and great views from the tower. Not too badly priced considering the upkeep required.

Tickets cost 15 euro per person. The Castle is beautiful, however, one wing was closed (Scaligera, August 2024) and the only exhibition was about dolls of various ages and toys, which for me was not so interesting. Inside the museum was hot and it was a bit smelly. The reason for the 4 stars is because you can actually climb to the top of the Castle tower, even if there's no sign or any direction whatsoever. We found our way up to the tower, passing through the Room of Justice, that has a wooden staircase that gets you up to the mezzanine, and from there there's the tower entry where you can climb even further to the top. The view is amazing from up there, and on hot days, there's a pleasant breeze that cools you. The bar has overpriced drinks, one bottle of water (0.5L) 2.5€.
