Surprising non-popular place. Free entry to this ASI certified heritage place. Apparently a recently created statue at Azhimala which charges 100 rs. as entry fee to view a depiction of Shiva straight from the movies is more popular than a Shiva statue carved in the 8th century.

The Rock-Cut Cave Shiva Temple is a very ancient and unique place carved entirely out of a single rock. Though the temple is quite small and there’s not much else around, its historical and spiritual significance makes it worth a quick visit. The peaceful surroundings and the divine presence of Lord Shiva add a special charm to this simple yet sacred site. 🙏🕉️

This is an ASI protected monument. A shiva temple cut within a rock which is 1800 years old. There is nothing else here to see. A quick trip of 10 min is more than enough. The ASI staff is very friendly and will give you a historical perspective of the place.

A very interesting and peaceful ancient site near Kovalam. The Rock-Cut Shiva Temple in Vizhinjam is small but full of history and spiritual energy. Beautiful carvings of Shiva, Parvati, and Nandi inside the cave. Worth visiting if you love ancient Indian art and calm places.
