"The Corner Bar is tucked into the oldest brick building in Rockford, MI. The building, built in 1873, survived two separate fires - the great fire of 1883 and the great Main Street fire of 1896. Over the years, it has hosted a shoe store, a grocery store, a hardware store and, finally, a tavern. The Corner Bar Hot Dog, what the bar is undoubtedly most famous for today, was created by then-owner Carl Hyde in the 1930s when law required that food be served at all establishments that wanted to obtain a beer license. Working with a former Army cook, Hyde developed a special chili sauce that has been passed down now for generations. Recognizing the appeal of the Corner Bar Hot Dog, Donald Berg, who purchased the bar in 1965, established the Hot Dog Hall of Fame in 1968. Since then, more than 5,000 champions have joined the list, eating a dozen or more hot dogs in a single sitting. The Hall of Fame caught the attention of several national competitive eating associations and Tim Janus, who consumed 43 1/2 hot dogs in one four-hour sitting, currently holds the professional record. In 2005, Balinda Gould ate 43 hot dogs to earn the amateur record, breaking a 23-year record of 42 1/2 hot dogs. Since Berg purchased the bar, the establishment has sold more than 14 million hot dogs. “Stretched end to end,” the Corner Bar’s website notes, “that would reach Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany, the birthplace of the hot dog.” Want to add your name to the Hot Dog Hall of Fame? The rules are simple. Eat 12 or more hot dogs smothered in the Corner Bar’s special chili sauce in one four-hour sitting. If you can push yourself to eat 20 hot dogs, the Corner Bar will pick up the tab. Update August, 2017: The building was heavily damaged in a fire, efforts to raise money for reconstruction are underway. Update August 2018: Repairs have been completed, and the Corner Bar has announced its grand reopening on August 25, 2018. Got the chili dogs off course. They were good. Good buns, pickle slices made it a bit difficult to eat. The coleslaw wasn't worth putting in the basket, not very good. Fries were decent. All in all it was a good filling meal. Daughter got a grilled cheese and half of the bread was missing. It was just flipped over like she wouldn't notice a huge part of her sandwich was an open faced cheese bread. I would've sent it back had I noticed earlier, and our waiter had come by to check on us. Had to wave her down to come refill waters. Service wasn't great. It wasn't even that busy.

Google
I don't understand how a good hot dog cane be so hard to make. Good dog that is crisp and snaps when you bite into it and a bun that holds up to toppings. Can't say these were the worst hot dog we have ever had but they were close. Would not recommend the corner bar to anyone.

My first experience of a corner bar chili dog. Service was very fast. Waiter was friendly. Nice atmosphere for a family. I would be happy to go there again.

Fantastic spot and the history is fun as well! We had the cauliflower bites and pretzel bites for appetizers. Then the Mahi Mahi tacos, Michigan Craft Burger and the famous chili dogs with fries. We enjoyed all we had and will be back the next time we visit from Montana!

Google
Great experience all together. Chicago dogs were super tasty and loaded with all the proper ingredients. Beer was cold. Service excellent from Reese, and she seemed to really enjoy what she was doing. Will definitely be back

Google
I have been to this place more than two dozen times. I can say it is my favorite restaurant of all time. This place makes the best olive burgers in all of Michigan. Also, they have the best cheese curds I have ever had. (I am a huge fan of cheese curds whenever I see them.)

Google
This place blew me away. Service got a low review because it took 2 hours to get our food but we had a 5 hour wait for another event so we stayed, the atmosphere is phenomenal and food was great as well. It has the makings of a great restaurant/bar I would definitely try again if in town to see if the service would be quicker which I believe we came at a busier then normal time

We have been here numerous times and have yet to have a bad experience. We have gone with both friends and family. The place has a nice family atmosphere and has seating available for larger crowds. They even have a bar inside if you prefer to belly up and enjoy some beverages. The assortment of hot dogs are plentiful and you will not be disappointed with any of them. We do prefer the Chicago dog and burrito dog. The Chicago dog comes with some great toppings to include tomato, peppers, relish, and others toppings. The burrito dog comes with a hot sauce packet and tastes just like a burrito with a hot dog twist. So good! I have included dogs from several different stops. They also have an assortment of other foods there such as the Reuben sandwich, which is really good as well. If you can eat a dozen of their dogs, you can be immortalized on their wall. There are names of people from all over the globe. We took a pic and I have posted them on this review. If you can zoom in, you will see the various places represented. The service has always been friendly and professional. The waitress made a mistake on our recent order in our favor and thus we got two dogs on the house. Service can make or break a place and they have great service. Definitely worth a stop if you are anywhere near and are hungry for some great hot dogs.

Yelp
Food was great, as always! Wish the coleslaw had onions in it, but realize that's an unpopular opinion. One of the few places that serves you a 24oz can of PBR! One complaint, it's obnoxious that they don't accept American Express.

Yelp
Went for lunch during peak lunch time. All servers are very friendly, and it seems they help each other to try and get all guests taken care of. What I liked: - great kids menu where you select the main, sides, drinks very reasonable $5.99. - crinkled fries crunchy - definitely family friendly Things that were just ok: - Reuben sandwich appears huge, due to size of bread. But there's not much corned beef, and the corned beef appears to be processed thin sliced deli meat, not frsh cooked corned beef. Things I didn't care for: - stunned that a hot dog place doesn't grill them. Great to have boil/steamed dogs for kids, but mot for adults unless requested. - upgrade to deep fried mushrooms, $3.99, were soggy batter on bottom - only 2 choices for how to cook burgers: pink or brown. No rare or medium-rare option given

Yelp
Riding the Fred Meijer Trail and wanting a place for lunch that was not right on the bike path - we chose the Corner Bar. Large eating area and a super large kitchen visible when you come in off Courtland, like we did. Cubs were playing the Cards in London - we sat at the bar to watch the game and enjoy our lunch. I ordered the Drink of the Month - a rhubarb margarita. I was surprised that on the 24th day of the month, the guy behind the bar needed to pull out a recipe card to make the drink - I think he was new to bartending. Rick ordered a flavorless grilled bratwurst with the blandest tasting sauerkraut he has ever experienced. Kudos to them - it must have been home made - because commercially produced sauerkraut has more flavor. The brat was dotted with stone ground mustard on top of the bland sauerkraut - which means the mustard flavor never got to mingle with the bratwurst. Bun was fresh and the fries were ok. I had the Traverse City Chicken Salad. Dried Michigan cherries with greens, mandarin oranges, bleu cheese and a small piece of grilled chicken breast laid on the top. I'm going to cut up the chicken breast anyway - you could make the salad more appealing by placing the slices of the chicken breast across the salad instead of tossing it on the top. The poppy seed dressing was not too thick - complemented the salad quite well. Had a great conversation with some other Cubs fans at the bar - wonderful ambience - average food. Will not make a special trip back.

Yelp
Had one of the better experiences, ever, today at TCB. Walked in, was seated immediately and shortly thereafter greeted by our Server (Z.). Z was very friendly, polite and informative. We placed our order and waited patiently. My daughter got the pulled pork sandwich and I had chili dogs. The reason for less than 5-stars is because her plate was missing French fries, mine was missing coleslaw, and her sandwich advertised as having coleslaw had none. Any of those infractions alone, could have kept the fifth star but three things require the demerit. The place looks great, with what looks like new and better sized tables. We enjoyed our food and Z. was a great server having tracked down our missing food items. Go and try to get your name on the wall.

Yelp
Had a great meal at The Corner Bar last week! I went there with my parents for lunch, and it was nice because it wasn't very crowded. We went during an off time, and it was snowing out quite a bit. We started off with some pickle chips, then we each got different hot dog baskets. I got their signature chili hot dog basket, and it was so yummy! I've been here a few times, and I always get the chili hot dog basket! :) The only reason I gave it a 4 star review instead of a 5 star review... -I wish the pickle chips were a little thinner with not so much breading. Because of this... I wouldn't order them again. -The seats at the tables have such a narrow and small bottoms. They were quite uncomfortable to sit on. When I go back, I will most definitely sit in a booth!

Yelp
Holy crap we sat at the end of bar tonight for 10 min "Missy" never even said hello we moved closer thinking she would see us nope she disappeared in the back for 5-6 min I made a joke about it. The people next to me told me how horrible their service was tonight so we left. This is the second time she has ignored us for way to long she needs to be replaced.. then we will return ....

Debbie D.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place and the hot dogs and visited with my brother and sister in law. It was very good. Best fried mushrooms for an appetizer. I had 2 hot dogs with sauerkraut and relish, delicious. Our waiter was very personable and attentive. Will go again.

Kyle V.

Yelp
I haven't been to the Corner Bar since I was young and we would stop in for coneys whenever we found ourselves on the north side of GR. Now with my wife and my own daughter, we found ourselves up here and I wanted to relive the experience, in their new location. Since they rebuilt the restaurant, it's much nicer but it obviously lost the history. Our server was quick and friendly and our food arrived in a timely manner. I had the coney dog combo and added a 3rd coney. They definitely aren't my favorite coneys in Grand Rapids but they get the job done. It's more of the nostalgia of having a classic coney at the Corner Bar that makes everything enjoyable. I love the crinkle fries and I enjoyed the coleslaw. This is a place to hangout and socialize with friends/family. As long as you don't have high expectations for anything better than slightly above average bar food, you'll enjoy it.

Tiffany G.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for a burger, this is the place to go. occasionally there is a man who makes balloon animals for adults and children. Staff are always friendly and depending how you time it, you can miss the crowd and enjoy a nice quiet lunch

Noreen H.

Yelp
I haven't been there in about a year so dissatisfied! Ordered chili dog basket with everything, buns were slightly stale they came without onions I asked the waitstaff if I could please get some when they arrived they had been frozen ( no good). I ordered their version of a Margarita it came with so much ice hardly any liquid could not taste any alcohol. Where I was sitting, a gentleman came in and started cleaning the windows. It smells so bad I got up and left had to ask for my bill I'm not going back however the waiter I had did a fantastic job. Well at least one good thing came out of my visit sure wasn't the bill or food or drink

Jon O.

Yelp
The food was tasty. However, one of our group members ordered his food a bit later and then was never brought any food. The staff corrected the situation by offering him free food. Found out they also charge a dollar for "rocks" never heard of a place charging for ice in alcoholic drinks.

Troy K.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Atmosphere was great and everything looked brand new. We sat at the bar and the service was great. I ordered the chili dog basket and I really enjoyed it. Being from Chicago I am picky about my hot dogs and these were great. I'm not a fries guy but their fries were great. I highly recommend this place.

Lynn C.

Yelp
Love the hot dogs and fries. Cheese sauce very good. That is all we order here so can't say about other menu items.

Benji E.

Yelp
The service we receive from Molly, Todd, and Jasmine is the best we've ever had for trivia!

Yelp
The Corner Bar has been a staple in Rockford, Michigan since the 1930s. At least that's what they advertise. Personally, I've been here a few times when in town for business. It's very non-assuming, and quaint. The beer selection, and full bar are first rate. The service is prompt and friendly. Unlike many Gastro pubs as of late, this place hangs it's hat on a tried and true American staple, the hot dog. Both times I've been here I've ordered hotdogs. There are other items on their menu, but the hotdog seems to be the reason why this place has existed for almost 100 years. Everyone in there is eating them, and they all seem to be enjoying their meal. If it's not broken, don't fix it. That being written, there's nothing truly amazing about their hotdogs. They're good. I ordered the chili cheese dog platter, and it was exactly as advertised. The french fries were crinkle-cut (a personal favorite of mine), and they were cooked to perfection. If you find yourself in Rockford Michigan, for any reason at all, you will notice there are many places in the downtown area that sell hotdogs?!? I don't know how or why this is a thing, but it is?!? The Corner Bar is one of those places that just delivers what it advertises and there's nothing wrong with that. People need a place like this to go to remind themselves what home tastes like, and to put a little comfort back in their lives. If a hotdog and a cold beer as what gets it done for you in Rockford, Michigan, then that works.

Yelp
The street is blocked off for the Rockford Outdoor Refreshment Area (RORA) with tables to enjoy takeout. Or it's easy to put your name on the list and get a text with estimated wait time while you shop the stores nearby. Our server was fantastic! Was on top of our drinks which needed constant refills. Never had to ask! Glad we ordered starters with our drinks which came out quickly because it took 22 minutes to get our food after starters. LOVE: The crinkle cut fries. They were perfect and abundant. GOOD: * Olive Burger - Thankfully it came with extra olives because they were needed. * Polish Dog basket - A nice bite with green pepper, onions, add mustard. * Chicago Dog basket - Will fulfill your craving. OKAY: * Pretzel Bites - My girls loved them. They look great, but were too soft all around. Some crisp would be nice. I'd personally pass. Not worth the calories. * Fried Pickles - I love how thick and salty the pickle slices were. Not a fan of the breading (like smooth onion ring batter but thicker and not as crisp). The ranch dressing was great. PASS: * Bavarian Dog: Liked the bratwurst and stone ground mustard. Kraut was okay. Did not like the pretzel bun. It looked great but took away from this dog more than it added. Perhaps would have been better if the inside was grilled on a flat top with butter first. * Coleslaw: was not very good Tables were nicely distanced and plexiglass in between booths. Most staff were wearing masks. (Recent change allows fully vaccinated to not wear masks.)

Yelp
Food was delicious, we enjoyed the appetizer and both entrees. Service was lacking attention at the bar, to the point that it took us almost 5 minutes to get silverware to eat with.

Jayson D.

Yelp
Corner Bar is quite literally a phoenix from the ashes. They've rebuilt from a fire a few years ago, and are back to serving up some of Rockford's finest eats and bevvies. What's really cool is that the City of Rockford has blocked off an outdoor "refreshment district," largely to provide safer ways to frequent the restaurants. I hope this sticks around even after the pandemic. It's tons of fun to sit outside, feed logs into the massive fire cauldrons, and socialize all while enjoying a tasty beer and chili dog. So, the food: This time I was out to try TCB's wall of fame challenge. You eat twelve (!) chili dogs in four hours, and you get your name on their wall of fame. We also sat outdoors in one of their special "dog houses": weatherproof tents set up outside with heaters and lots of chairs for your group. I also found out that I was the first to attempt the chili dog challenge from the dog house tent. But therein lies the rub. The dog houses are limited to ninety minutes. And so the dilemma: Enjoy the challenge from outside, but with a ninety minute limit, or eat inside with the luxury of four hours. I took my chances with the dog house. But, as it happens, we were late to our reservation AND lost time while we learned whether it was allowed to do the challenge outside. All told, I had about forty minutes to down those dogs. But down them I did! Check their website for the proof. ;-D I'm a sucker for their original chili dogs as-is, chili, ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickle. Get the basket and opt for their homemade onion rings. Thick cut slices of juicy onion battered and fried to crispy perfection. Wash it down with their house amber brew or opt for one of your other faves. You can't lose. Staff are rockstars and they're working hella hard right now to keep everyone happy and safe. Once this dozen dogs settles in my tummy, I'll get back to try again. Eat up! :-D

Eileen B.

Yelp
I am visiting my family and my sister made a reservation for the dog house which we could sit in and enjoy the outside with a heater. We had drinks appetizers and lunch. We played euchre and just enjoyed each other. The food is amazing. They are known for their hot dogs and I ordered the Chicago style. It had mustard onions neon relish tomatoes and celery salt on a poppy seed bun. We also had decadent fried cauliflower and pickles. It was such a fun time and what a fantastic idea to use during Covid

Mike E.

Yelp
Sat at the bar before the Rockford Christmas light event and had a great evening , excellent service and they have really upped their craft cocktail game , no longer just beer and hot dogs ... their own signature cocktails and classics plus a good beer list ... my wife had to do the classic hot dog basket upgraded w curly fries , while I did the craft beer burger and onion rings .... I still miss the old Mr Fables onion rings of my youth but these come closest . Come out and enjoy the Holiday lights in downtown Rockford and grab a burger or some dogs .... Maybe enough to get your name on the wall which still takes a dozen I believe

Yelp
Greetings chili dog fans! I tried The Corner Bar once again since my last visit several years ago. I was disappointed the quality did not improve. Back in the late 70's, they had a much better chili dog. I learned that Dam Dog, just around the corner, offered an alternative option. I couldn't resist doing a comparison. Both dogs were similarly priced and were served up with cheese, onions, and beanless chili sauce. Dam Dogs won with flavor, sausage size & taste, and generous toppings. This comparison took place on 12/10/21. I really like the vibe of The Corner Bar and felt the service was very good. They need to step up the dog quality they built their reputation on years ago when the place was smaller and had a pool table.

Greg S.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how good the food here is. I had a polish dog basket. The onions and peppers were grilled to perfection and the fries were perfect. My wife had a California Reuben on marbled rye bread (turkey instead of corned beef and cole slaw instead of sauerkraut) - really great! The potato chips were home made. (Excellent by the way) The service was great and the atmosphere was superb. We'll definitely come back.

Ann O.

Yelp
Ambiance and food was so good. Love the chili dogs and want to check out the upper deck soon. Such a chill spot would def recommend.

Bryan D.

Yelp
Great place to eat and drink. Kids love it too especially the cheese balls and mushrooms! I like to support downtown businesses!

David R.

Yelp
Nice bar in Rockford Michigan. Famous for their hot dogs, since 99 percent of their merch says so. Can't review the hot dogs since I don't eat them. I started with an appetizer of house-made tortilla chips and salsa. Chips were warm and crunchy and the salsa tasted fresh. Very good. Next up was the Turkey Pretzel Club sandwich which was smoked turkey breast, bacon and Swiss cheese served on a warm pretzel roll with a side of house-made honey Dijon sauce. The sandwich was really good. I would definitely order this again. I was surprised at just how good the food was . Definitely a step up from your regular bar/pub food. The Corner Bar is definitely a must stop when your in Rockford.

Yelp
The Corner Bar ⁣ ⁣ The Corner Bar is one of, if not the MOST beloved businesses in downtown Rockford. ⁣ ⁣ It is one of the first places people fall in love with as the welcoming atmosphere and friendly crowd of locals welcome in first-time visitors, telling them what the best things are on the menu. It's a community hub. ⁣ If you know anything about the Corner Bar, you might remember when they had a devastating fire in 2017 where they were only able to salvage the outside sign and the front walls of the building. The community and other businesses came together to raise funds for employees and the bar as they began to rebuild; eventually reopening a year later! ⁣ Our favorites on the menu include the Turkey Pretzel Club and the Texas Twister Burger (pictured) ⁣ ⁣ Think you can eat 12 chili dogs? ⁣ ⁣ Known as the Hot Dog Capital of Michigan, The Corner Bar boastchallengeange for all the hot dog lovers out there looking to make their mark on the world. The Rules? 12 Chili Dogs. 4 Hours. Eternal hot dog glory & your name on the wall await those who do it. ⁣ ⁣ I always enjoy finding names of people I know or seeing that people from all over Michigan and the U.S. have come to get their name on the wall! ⁣

Sherry B.

Yelp
Took the family there to try out their famous chili dogs. What a disappointment. The hot dogs were flavorless like they'd been sitting in boiled water for a very long time. The chili on top was nothing to write home about either. Buns were soggy.

Elyse A.

Yelp
We were walking around and enjoying RORA and needed a beer refill and a snack - The Corner Bar has two order/pickup options - their pickup window and a table at the front door where you can order, I went to the table. Menus on table, ordering is easy. We grabbed two beers (they have a lot of draft and can options) and an order of fried pickles. Both came out decently fast, which was awesome because you could tell they were busy. I think they still have diners inside, too. Fried pickles were really good and had a delicious ranch with them! They were SUPER hot, which was great because it was super cold out! Love that you can get food and easy finger food to go and walk around with! They also have all their other beverage options, as well as their full menu to order from. They have the clear tents right out front, not sure if you have to reserve those through them or not, but they look SO convenient and cozy! Also, a great way to trap your kids so they don't go running :)

Brennan H.

Yelp
I've been to this place too much for how much their food sucks, I don't know how people do the challenge there without puking just from the taste. There managerial staff is the worst I've ever seen. Servers work to hard for how much they make.

Patricia B.

Yelp
I was very disappointed in the Mahi Mahi tacos, not at all as pictured on the menu. There were two small tacos served with plain, lukewarm rice. It is certainly not a good idea to order tacos at restauran know for hot dogs. Now I know!

White C.

Yelp
This four-star rating isn't as high as some other four-star ratings, but there's no way I could justify bumping it down to a three. We came here during the Start of Summer Celebration, and had been here previously for a Sunday lunch during game season. The food is good. The pretzel bites don't taste like they came in a freezer bag, and the cheese sauce was formulated so it never got thick. The Texas Twister burger was large, but definitely needed more sauce for that much meat. It went down a bit dry, even with pink in the middle. The polish dogs were...fine. The thing that sets these apart from what you'd microwave at home is the toppings, and unfortunately the toppings weren't anything special. The service was mostly good. Certainly friendly. We did have some very disproportionate attention given to us. When we first sat down and asked for a minute to make a decision, we were given what felt like literally 2 minutes. Later in the meal, as we were looking for sauce for the burger, and then for some takeout boxes so we could get out in time for the fireworks, our server disappeared for a bit. We had to grab another server to ask for takeout boxes, and then were too afraid to ask for sauce for the burger because we figured it might take a while to come out, and we needed to leave before too long. The place wasn't terribly busy when we came in, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Overall, it's a solid place to bring people for some pub food. Not the cheapest place, but not "expensive", either. If you're in town, give it a shot. Clean, good location, decent food and service. It'll be a pleasant experience.

Aaron H.

Yelp
It is what it is, and it's not trying to be anything else. The food is basic but good and is a nice facility. Decent prices. Great for kids. They actually have gluten free fries from a dedicated fryer. That is really hard to find. They contribute a lot to the community. As far as bar food and hot dogs, you can't beat it. The chili dogs are pretty dang good. Again, nothing fancy, but tried and true greasy comfort food.

Jessica O.

Yelp
Updating since the re-opening after the fire in 2017. The menu is almost exactly the same, which I'm really happy about! It's a bit more open inside, and there is much more natural light than there used to me. The bathrooms are so nice, which is a huge improvement! And I'm so glad the names on the wall had been recorded so they could put them back up. That would have been a huge downfall after the fire. Overall, the place looks great! There are a couple of things I don't like with the renovation. There is a large, round section at the corner of the bar. If you end up sitting in this area you're about 5-6 feet away from the bar tender trying to take your order and serve you. You really have to yell your order to them so they can here, and they have to lean halfway over the bar to reach your food and drinks to you. Also, maybe something to do with the more open environment, but every time we leave here now we smell like onions. Really strongly. To the point where anything we wore needs to be washed before wearing again. Jackets, jeans, etc. As much as I love eating here, and will continue to do so, I will pick somewhere else if I have another event afterwards or have to go back to work. Still giving 4 stars. I'm probably biased from eating here my whole life, but I'll continue to go here on a regular basis. The few negatives aren't negative enough to keep me away!!

Ryan W.

Yelp
Grilled hotdogs are WAY better than Boiled hotdogs Also they don't follow the orders very closely. I always order bacon cheddar dogs WITHOUT chili, but usually still get chili. Also, burgers usually turn out burnt.

Landen T.

Yelp
Good food, quick service. But my one concern is that they can't tell their fruits from their veggies!

Travis B.

Yelp
We've ordered from their carryout window many times. Their chili dogs are delicious. Reasonably priced, good taste, and they're easy to walk around downtown with! They've got a decent variety of dogs if chili isn't your thing. Their fries are always hot and crispy, and their portions are good as well! We'll always look forward to our Corner Bar chili dogs while we explore downtown Rockford!

Jerry F.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite place before it burned. I don't know if it changed hands or what, but it has gotten horrible. I really dont know where to start. The reason i gave it two stars is their food is still good, but thats the only positive thing i can say about the place. The prices are now through the roof high. I went in there alone for lunch and paid what i would normally pay for two people...and all i had was an olive burger and their small chili dogs. I wouldn't think their hot dogs would cost much because they are tiny, so it must have been the Olive burger that cost so much. I wont go back again. Prior to that, i tried to go there to eat close to a dozen times, but every time i got there, they were closed. And it hasn't been late either. I think the latest was 8 pm. I'm not sure when they close but it really doesn't matter now anyhow. They have priced themselves out if business, plus changed too much to be the good old "Corner Bar" they used to be.

Yelp
There seems to have been some improvement over time. But, it just feels like a missed opportunity to not be more special culinarily.

Yelp
Had a great experience taking our 1 year old here for dinner. Fantastic tasting chili dog. There was a Man going around making balloon animals for both adults and kids, my baby loved it! Service was prompt and polite, exactly what I look for in service! The meals were a bit pricier than I would expect for a hot dog, but not too terrible! Will be returning again soon!

Yelp
I know this place is a semi-institution in Rockford but the hot dogs are just BAD. They are the size of a pencil and I feel like they are either microwaved or boiled (gross). Some of the other items I've tried have been decent, but if your claim to original fame is the hot dog (and varieties there of...) you must try to do better!

Yelp
Impressive! We were riding around on a beautiful Sunday and stumbled upon this corner bar. Walking distance from the Rogue River, which is awesome! Greeted by the hostess and seated in a both, the walls were filled with names that attempted to break the hot dog eating record. Clean, spacious and trendy, this restaurant brings big city to little city style. The bathroom was so clean, I could eat in there (but I won't, but if I had to do it) never mind. We ordered a beer and mimosa for drinks...you can't go wrong with that choice, I ordered the Pretzel Turkey club...OMG! It just melted in my mouth, I don't remember chewing. My fiancé ordered 3 hot dogs (I had to take a bite....mmmm, I didn't know hot dogs could taste so good and don't get me started on the pickles. Good!! The buns were fresh and warm (I'm not talking about the waitresses buns) although ours was cute and super friendly, she was helpful and attentive. Everything was so fresh and hot! (I'm not talking about me) Overall the food was great, the portions great, a family friendly environment and a great way to spend our Sunday afternoon. We'll be back Rockford!

Yelp
the food was amazing! there was one male server who was cheering my friend on and he was great! our server tanya, however was extremely poor. she took a while to attend to our table almost every time she came over, her attitude was horrible she kept making snarky comments towards half of the people at our table. towards the end she was extremely slow. We asked for our checks 3 times and didn't get them until 20 minutes later. When she came with all of our checks she took the cards back one by one. She was almost done with the payments when she lost one of our friends cards. She told us that she brought them all back and kept getting "confused" this was extremely frustrating considering we had a different waiter who was consistently happy to approach us and we weren't even in his section.

Yelp
We attended a graduation party in the upstairs area and what a great job they did. Good featured a delicious hamburger and hot dog spread that tasted fabulous. Pretzel bites & bar cheese with a fresh tossed salad bowl that never was not fresh!! Our server was speedy On the spot with a wide variety of beer, wine and mixed drink. A very nice venue for hosting a medium (50) sized party. There was even a fuse ball table to entertain the younger ones. Highly recommend the Corner Bar.

Yelp
Always good for a great hot dog! We stopped there not knowing that the Santa Claus parade was that day, so it was super busy. Even with that, we still got great service and great food! Our waiter did a great job for as many people that were there.

Yelp
I remember going here as a kid before they have the unfortunate fire that destroyed the building. My memories were of delicious and appropriately sloppy chili that covers the hotdog with loads of cheese and a thin slice of pickle. They were AND still ARE delicious chili dogs! They may be famous for those chili dogs but they also offer a pretty decent menu. Hamburgers, Sandwiches, tons of appetizers, dinner entrée options and more! The beer spread isn't too bad either if you prefer the liquid dinner. :P I would say the remodel makes the place feel more like a restaurant/bar that you would find downtown Grand Rapids on the Michigan Street strip due to the similarities of the New Holland Brew feel and others surrounding new business'. I recommend going here. We went as a group after my sisters wedding. They accommodated for us, told us it would be about one hour and it was less. The server was joyous and didn't seem to be bothered by the large group. --"Never let them see you sweat." I would never know if she was overwhelmed or not, she was great!

Yelp
I am still trying to understand the draw to the Corner Bar. This was the third time our family has been in as many years. The food was mediocre at best as well as the service. I ordered the chili cheese dog basket. By the time it made it to us, the fries were barely warm, but the pickle on top was now hot and soggy. My wife ordered the cheesesteak. The meat was over done and dry as jerky almost. It looked like it was cooked previously and then reheated for the sandwich. All in all, food was ok, but not a fan enough to return any time soon.

Yelp
Always a childhood favorite. Going here and sitting with my grandmas and grandpas while eating hotdogs & fries will be some of my favorite memories. Great food & atmosphere!

Yelp
Very good food, I ordered the onion rings and they were very good, and I found a part of a deep fried pickle on my dish I loved the little surprise. Eat here!

Yelp
The food is good but definitely isn't to par with what I remember when I was a kid. The rebuild looks great and it's clear that The Corner Bar is once again a popular spot in Rockford. However, I just can't shake the feeling that the hotdogs have been overrated for a really long time. Are the chili dogs good? Yes. But are they the best? Nope. A soggy bun and boiled-looking hot dog aren't all that impressive to me ‍ I can say that I have experienced good service at The Corner Bar. When we visited last week Friday, we were told a 50 minute wait but only ended up waiting about 20-25 minutes. Their mobile waitlist makes it so much easier because I could watch myself move up the list and judge how far I could wander around before making my way back. Very efficient and convenient. One last note: I absolutely LOVED the jalapeño margarita. Delicious flavor of a jalapeño but not too spicy- very perfect. I'd probably return just for the drink. So, to conclude, of course I will keep dining at TCB because it's such a staple and brings back childhood memories. It is a fun place to visit with friends for dinner and drinks, even if you are being served subpar quality food.
