Rockhampton Backpackers

Lovely place to stay, good rooms, great shared spaces like kitchen, backyard, tv room, pool... And overall, really good environment. Steph, the owner, is a great person and she is gonna always be there to help you out in everything she can. Worth every single dollar and I stayed here for more than 5 months.

Pretty gross and tacky to be honest. |Staff very unkind. Not a hospitable choice for last minute bookings, unfortunately.|Also the property was very run down. |Major drug den vibes. Nothing like the YHA in Cairns or just any, really.. The reception desk looked indistinguishable-to the point where upon arrival I thought I had been directed to an unsafe and dangerous premise-not a YHA. ||Safety: The hostel's situated in a fairly isolated alleyway in the derelict area of Rocky. Probably not suitable if your a solo female backpacker/holliday maker.|Noteworthy details: The receptionist is quite judgmental and will refuse to accept last minute bookings.

The yha Hostel is okay. Its not completely clean, but for the cheap price it was enough. The staff was really friendliy and they are good prepared for travelers which arrive late in the night. All in all it was good for a few nights

Overall a pleasant experience. We couldn't get another hotel room in Rockhampoon as the Beef Convention was on and everything was booked out. The cabins (demountables from the year 2000 olympics) were worn, but clean and everything worked. The price was less than we expected to pay for a hotel room, but this was about a 2 star. However, it was quiet, close to restaurants and amenities and in a garden setting. So we liked it!

Just called asked the lady her name and she said what do you need so I said I asked your name and she rudely said what do you need again. Great way to start a conversation and scare off potential customers

The owner is one of the most helpful and kind person I've ever met. Everything is clean and organized. Most people tend to stay long term so it was a friendly environment. I know where I would go if I ever go to Rockhampton again 😊❤️

I stay at Rockhampton YHA for 2 months whilst working in Rockhampton. My stay was great, I felt very safe here. The room was clean and pleasant. The owner was very nice and helpful. The location is off a street which is nice as it meant that it was quiet with no noise coming from the outside areas. It was a little walk away from a supermarket however there is a nice coffee shop down the end of the street which is open pretty early till late. Overall I would recommend staying here especially if you are on a budget or just need a comfortable bed for the night.

Nice cheap hostel with all necessary facilities. Rooms are air conditioned and have storage lockers, comfortable beds and pillows. The kitchen is spacious enough to cook at all times of day and has an attached dining room area and outside terrace with some tables. There's also a rec room with plenty of couches, a pool with lawn chairs and parking for cars. Overall great price-quality relationship, would definitely go back.
