Rockhampton Botanic Gardens & ZOO

Lovely space with a lot of promise. The grounds are pleasant to walk through, and you can tell there’s been real thought put into the layout and the different areas of the gardens. It feels like a place that will be truly special once everything is fully finished. During our visit, however, there was quite a bit of construction happening. Because of this, we weren’t really able to experience many of the exhibits the way they were intended, and some sections were either closed off or difficult to fully appreciate. That said, the gardens themselves are beautiful and clearly being developed with care. I’d definitely consider visiting again once the construction is complete.

Beautiful, I could have spent hours here and think I will next time. Saw heaps of wildlife like the flying foxes different birds and down by the water saw heaps of turtles. I even had a go on the gym stuff down by the water. Had an ice cream at the cafe, was really well priced for the size of ice cream we got. Highly recommend visiting and aren't I lucky we have justed moved to Rockhampton and live 2 mins away from the gardens. Highly recommend.

Well worth taking a stroll through the many different areas these gardens have to offer. Parking can be difficult to find, but if you drive down towards the lagoon it's not so busy there. Japanese Gardens were under maintenance, so didn't get to enjoy them. Combine these Botanical Gardens with the zoo next-door and you can have a relaxing enjoyable day!

Wow the playground is incredible! It gets raked and cleaned every day so it was tidy when we arrived in the morning! All gardens were spectacular, very clean tidy and green! Lots of love and work goes into the garden and you can tell!

Lovely walking trails from Japanese gardens, mowed lawns and rainforest trails to lagoon side with wildlife entertainment.

Beautiful gardens, but need better upkeep. Saw lots of birds, turtles and bats.

Myself, 2 daughters, son-inlaw and my 2 grandchildren (2&3) chose Rockhampton as our meeting place for Christmas this year and we took a trip to the Botanical Gardens. We all loved the ZOO section which was an absolute credit to those who run the gardens. We pretty much spent the whole day there. There are so many spots for families to wander around with wide open spaces for the toddlers, and a great playground for the kids a lake where there are ducks and turtles to amuse the children, the display of different gardens such as the beautiful Japanese garden, and the indoor nursery with ferns, elks, stags and numerous other plant species. It's just a wonderful area of Rocky that caters to a wide variety of ages. And a fantastic Cafe to also cater to the public of varying ages. Was a fantastic day.

Great zoo and gardens. We needed more time than we had to fully explore the extensive gardens.
