Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse

First thing’s first- THIS IS SO FUN. That being said, it is fun if you enjoy a moderate, just under a mile walk upon uneven slabs to get to the lighthouse itself. Saw many families out with their kids, even a couple jogged past with their dachshund (so cute in his vest). I would advise caution and being weather aware before and during your trip. We went as a little storm was blowing up the coast and definitely took our time against the wind to ensure steady footing. It was exhilarating and made me want to run and jump and laugh, I love these kinds of things. There is a nice little parking area, and historic information out at the lighthouse. Definitely would return!

Wow, what an experience! I am so grateful it did the walk down to the lighthouse, but I was so nervous I wouldn't be able to. Definitely make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes; this is not the place for flip flops or heels! If you go slow and steady and pay attention to where you are walking you will be fine. The view is beautiful and well worth the walk. You can also go around the side of the building and up the top for more pictures. No animal sightings when we were there, but we did see a lot of cool boats.

Omgosh. Next to driving on that old rickety wooden bridge over a canyon in Colorado, this is the scariest walk I've ever had. All I thought about is everything bad that could happen. If I dropped my only set of car keys or my phone in the crevice of the stones, or tripped and sprained my ankle okay I know this isnt encouraging, but im not a risk taker. Its a long walk on the jetty. On one side is the deep cold rough waters and on the other side was the deeper, cold, rough waters. I focused on where I was walking. It was sunset when I started. Not smart. If it were to get dark & I had a 30 minute walk back on the jetty... but we made it back. Not sure I'd do it again. By boat, yes.

Great place for a sunset view of the bay! Warnings: Very uneven terrain walking out to the lighthouse and no restroom once you make out there...so plan your trip (movements) accordingly! Otherwise, this was a fun, adrenaline filled walk across well placed rocks to get a good photo shoot by the water.

Great spot for a walk.. but well worth it. The long stroll offers up great views on both sides. Excellent place to watch there sunset. The lighthouse itself is aging but still a pretty site..

Quite the walk to get there but it was worth it. About 9/10 of the way in the water started coming over the walkway for a little! I found it fun to try to navigate but some people got their toes wet. It was a very unique path getting there and it was a nice viewpoint

The walk was the excitement to get to this lighthouse! 1.3miles one way from the parking lot to the end of the pier. (Use port-a-potty beforehand!). Just take your time and step carefully on the rock wall path. The view is tremendous. Once at the lighthouse, sit and enjoy the breeze, fresh air and beautiful views.

Great lighthouse. Long walk, as advertised there, and shared by other reviewers. I arrived with sturdy shoes to switch to. You can wear what you want as long as comfortable, but I knew i was going to walk faster than most to get out and back (I left my family sleeping at the hotel while I went to explore), so I was there in the early morning. I was only accompanied by joggers and persons fishing. The parking lot is small if it gets busy, and I don't know if it gets busy or not. You can't truly appreciate it from the shore, and my favorite pictures would not have been possible without the floating dock permitting a side angle. I can tell the locals are used to having these lovely guardians of the past in their daily lives, but being from the midwest it is great to visit and enjoy them. The locals were friendly, other than the seagulls, which gave me the side-eye disturbing their fishing time.
