"Bird and nature lovers will fall for the gorgeous gardens of the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary. Home to hundreds of endemic as well a migrant species of birds, you can spot Jamaica’s national bird–the Doctorbird or Red-billed Streamertail hummingbird–as well as the Mango hummingbird and Caribbean doves, among others. The highlight of visiting the sanctuary is feeding hummingbirds right out of your hand, with seeds or with a bottle filled with sugary water. (Photo by Alex Massengale)"

What an amazing experience!!! It was a beautiful, educational, peaceful, and uplifting time at the sanctuary and with our guide and new friend Fritz. Walking in you see a beautiful home and property. Then we were led to the large wooden patio where you can sit and feed these beautiful birds. Besides the amazing view we were instructed on how to get the hummingbirds to land on our fingers and feed on sugar water. What a unique and wonderful experience to have the birds sitting on your fingers or on your legs that close. Meanwhile Fritz told about the history of the place and identified and told us about the birds. After we had done that for about an hour he gave us a tour of the fauna and foliage around the house. We learned about some of the medicinal benefits of the plants and enjoyed walking the property. Could not recommend this more highly.

Fantastic experience in a beautiful location overlooking MoBay. The hosts were lovely, full of information and welcoming. Feeding hummingbirds by hand is unforgettable. The taxi from your hotel is well worth it. No question.

Wild birds (hummingbirds and others) trusting to eat out of your hand. Very unique experience. We drove there with our rental car. It was US$30/person. [I live in the US. I know Jamaica quite well as I’ve been going there often for the last 25 years. Always renting our own car. The roads have gotten better but back roads can be tricky. If you are not confident in your driving skills, including reversing down narrow bumpy roads along steep ravines have a qualified local driver take you there. These are public roads and the bird sanctuary is not responsible for their condition.]

Had an incredible experience with my granddaughter—up front and personal feeding of hummingbirds. Very fascinating to see how they suddenly just appear right at your fingertips feeding on sugar water. Loved it.

Went to Rockland Bird Sanctuary a good while back, I think during COVID time. I found it to be a nice little unforgettable experience that you can easily immerse yourself in. The atmosphere was rather serene, with it being so peaceful and stuff. It gave me a nice vibe, honestly. Now, the birdfeeding part was ofcourse the highlight of the experience. You're given a nector bottle, which is what the birds drink from, and what attracts them to you. Watching the different species of birds, namely the humming birds, suckle from your fingertips was a wonderful spectacle. I mean, it did take a little while before they started with me, but that's only because they had other people who were feeding them. If you're done with the birds, you're free to walk around the property. The Sanctuary rests in the hills, so it has some pretty nice views of. I do like the look of the place, it was rather quaint. It has all necessary amenities as well, so no need to fret. I dont remember certain other details like the road condition or the pricing, all I remember is the delightful experience I had over there.

A visit to this bird sanctuary is truly an unforgettable experience! Hand-feeding hummingbirds and little finches was magical, and seeing two Jamaican owls up close was incredible. The peaceful atmosphere and the chance to connect with these beautiful creatures made it a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Highly recommend for nature lovers and anyone visiting Montego Bay!
