Rocky Gap State Park, Maryland, Guide

"A roomy campground serving outdoor enthusiasts with both electric and non-electric sites as well as rustic camper cabins and a yurt; sites fill quickly during peak season so advance reservations are advised. Rocky Gap State Park is a great spot for a peaceful day outdoors. The park is very clean and well-maintained, with large restrooms that were spotless during our visit. There are plenty of stations to grill and relax, giving you lots of options depending on the size of your group. Parking is easy with a spacious and well-organized lot, and I really appreciated the dedicated trash storage—no need to carry bags home. There’s a wide range of activities available, whether you're looking to hike, enjoy the water, or just sit back and take in the scenery. It’s a great place to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with nature. Highly recommend for families, couples, or solo visits. Will definitely be coming back.

Great park with a beautiful lake and trails. I stayed at camp sites and it was very nice. The bathrooms were clean. Wished they had primitive camping sites, away from the crowded camp areas. Also the lake was quite noisy overnight from planes or boats running overnight. doesn't feel super secluded. Feels more like a resort. But overall, a pleasant experience!

Always our favorite spot to camp. We’ve been camping at the same spot since I was a child (I’m 28 now with a husband and baby)!! We took our daughter camping for the first time and had so much fun. The bathrooms are always clean. There are family bathrooms for the kiddos. The staff are always kind and helpful. Never a bad thing to say!

I try to come to Rocky Gap Casino and Resort twice a year to relax. This time was no different. I always have the best time chilling and meeting new people. The staff is always so nice and the patrons are just as nice and friendly. I would like to acknowledge one particular staff person. Keenan, hopefully I spelled his name right, was the young man at the coffee shop in the morning. He was sooo welcoming, and his kindness made my day. Thank you, Rocky Gap, for a calm and relaxing 2 days.

Go there during the week days as weekends are packed and the enforcement is not enough for rude neighbors I had to sleep at 3 am because of a party of 5 families known each other and decide to camp together. Plus blasting the music all day long even when you talk and ask them turn down they do it for a little and blast again. Beach for campers is pretty small. Now positive as I can’t say plural the kayaking was pretty good experience the kids love it along with my wife. The travel is also on from Maryland 2 and a half hours. But I would prefer Deep Creek or Assetegue Island 10x 🤷🏽‍♂️ that’s me

Great view of the lake from my room on this trip today. Had lots of fun in the casino here and the spa staff was awesome. I ended up having breakfast and dinner here the value was good for both meals. I wasn't able to eat most of the breakfast as the potatoes came with peppers and onions and I'm allergic to them but that was my fault for not asking about it as I'm used to the places I visit at home not coming with them. The dinner was great I had a steak and some wine the steak was delicious and the wine pairing was on point. I'm looking forward to the next visit to the spa as it's hard to find good spas for men to enjoy.

It's a beautiful place it truly is but the beach is unsettling! mostly due to all the POOP...Goose poop There was sooo much that it was hard to enjoy the beach or lake not only due to the poop but the odor of ammonia. Prior to noticing the poop I snapped a picture of the lake & actually got a pile of it in the picture 🫣 On the other hand the Lakeside Grill was excellent with friendly service & the food was good. I didn't stay here it was just a day trip I did see a smaller private beach for guests that looked clean ⛱️ behind the resort

Would have definitely been a five-star in the camping area if it wasn't exactly 7:00 in the morning and all the kids started yelling and it echoed through the entire woods. Tried going back to sleep, but couldn't. Brought my dog and it agitated her. People that come to this state park are very entitled and self-centered and think people should live their lives around them. I have a direct example: as we were driving through the park at night on our first night because we noticed we didn't have enough ice to last us till morning so it was past 10pm, kids were in the middle of the road and we almost hit them after we came over a blind bank in complete darkness. A guy, not from the park, came to tell us that we needed to watch where we drove around 10pm because his kids are always walking in the middle of the street during that time period. I'd request a loop without minor and if one isn't provided, I would not be returning. Beautiful and amazing wise, but only for day trips.
