The staff where friendly and welcoming, the hotel was clean and quite the rooms where comfortable. The pool water was warm which was great to take our kids swimming they actually enjoyed being in the pool an where able to play in it. My only complaints would be it said I book a room with 2 queen beds which ended up being 2 double beds and on the website it states children eat free while staying at the hotel which proved not to be true as we had to pay for each of their meals we had there.

Excellent experience. Wonderful location and exceptional service after being let down by another motel through Booking.com. Fantastic view of the harbour. Room decor a little bit tired but it is harsh environment in Nova Scotia particularly in winter

The room was very nice and clean, and spacious, the bed was very comfortable. The view of Frost Park was perfect to see the Christmas lights. All the staff was very nice and did their jobs well. The room attendant on the 6 floor was very nice and greeted me with a good morning & asked if I needed help with bringing my luggage down to the front desk upon checking out. The decorations of the hotel were very pretty too. I would recommend staying at the Rodd Hotel in Yarmouth, NS.

The room was very clean and it smelled lovely. The beds were so comfortable if the pillows a little firm for my liking. Staff very friendly and the food was delicious. Plan to go back ! Would recommend to friends . We will definitely bring relatives when they come to visit from England

Google
I mistakenly left my Kindle at this hotel. The staff was kind enough to mail it to me, even though I live in the US. They charged it to my card on record. I'm very grateful to the staff for going beyond the ordinary. The room was clean and met our needs and a very short distance to the ferry. We walked the historic neighborhood around the Rodd Grand before checking out.

Hotel was clean, check in and out staff were friendly. The restaurant could have been a bit better, service wasn’t the greatest, the wine glasses and water glasses were disgusting so many spots and chunks of food on them. We asked for a new wine glass from the server she brought one out but did not ask if we wanted new wine or not. We ate both dinner and breakfast here, two different servers both who were not very lively or introducing. I wouldn’t come back for the restaurant but would stay in the hotel for the price point. A bit outdated but other than that it is fine for the price.

Very friendly and quick service the air quality was fantastic and really enjoyed our waiter down in the café. He started us on a happy note.||We have stayed here often and we’re always delighted with the facilities and the location and the staff

This spot never disappoints. Clean, friendly and convenient. The view is gorgeous.||We enjoyed the food at on site restaurant. Staff in there are also very friendly and spot on their game.||Make sure that you visit the Yarmouth Farmer's Market while in town.

Yelp
1 Wonderful stay! Review of Rodd Grand Yarmouth Hotel Reviewed yesterday I don't know why this hotel is only rated a 3 star, it is lovely. The front staff was extremely friendly and efficient. While checking in I requested extra pillows and blankets and they were in the room by the time I parked the car. The room was spacious and spotless. The shower pressure and water temperature were perfect. The restaurant staff for breakfast were very quick and the food was tasty. The price was very reasonable. We did not have time to enjoy the pool but it looked very inviting. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in Yarmouth.

Yelp
I have stayed at Rodd on several different occasions, its a old Hotel and the rooms are older and do smell from the Hotel being older I understand that the smell may not be able to get out of the building because of the age of the building. As well as having issues with their toilets backing up on several different occasions. We phone in and told them in advance that my daughter and myself would be there at some point after supper to make sure there would be a room. They reassured us that in fact there would be a room for us. Upon our arrival they asked me for a credit card so i thought my debt credit card would work or cash would work for them because i have a history of staying with them however they told me that they were not allowed to accept either one of those however the gentle man did end of taking a visa debit card for us to stay and took a deposit from the card We went to our room and I invited some family members over we were sitting talking about what it was like growing up and laughing at the old times we were not drinking not that it matters but the point is if we were it would have been nosier and we had a knock at the door telling us we were to loud and the lady stood there and starred me down (wow) my family left and went home The next morning at check out time I was told unless I have a credit card I would not be allowed to stay with them any more. I said to the manager that I would probably end up staying in a Air B & B next time and he told me that they are not as sanitary as the hotels. I am the type of person that if the place I am paying for is not clean I will ask for my money back. I have stayed in Air B & B before in Yarmouth and its been really clean and even had homemade cookies and sweets upon arrival. I asked for the number to head office and he told me he would email it to me 3 days went by and I didn't hear from them so I called the head manager of the Hotel and explained the issue to her and she started slightly laughing on the other end of the phone which i told her was very rude The bottom line is unless you have a credit card don't call Rodd's in Yarmouth because they will not accept you

Yelp
The only thing this place has going for it is it's proximity to the ferry. The town of Yarmouth has very little to offer (we stayed here for two days; we did some kayaking and went to the Forchu lighthouse.). The rooms are outdated and old, the staff is pleasant and receptive to your needs. There's a diner style restaurant in the lobby as well, food is standard for that establishment. There's also a small swimming pool on site. Honestly, if you can, drive and stay in Digby and then continue with your plans. The only reason really to book here is the night before you depart on the ferry as it leaves quite early in the morning or if the ferry docks too late at night for travels. Three stars for the proximity to the ferry and the staff. If based on quality of the rooms and accoutrements, one to two stars.

Yelp
Oh, good heavens, no. This may be the old main hotel but it's incredibly weary; it's not just that the rooms were cramped and noisy and smelled quite a bit off, they haven't even bothered to do cheap upgrades where they can (see also, the incredible CRT TV). We were just spending the night waiting for the ferry, fortunately, but I can only barely recommend it for that. The oddity of the night we were there was that they were hosting a wedding (oh, the poor Bride) and had some other event, so we didn't even have adjacent parking. The parking lot across the street, downhill, was dirt and gravel. And we got no help, once again, with our stuff, for love or money. I realize Yarmouth has seen better times, but I have to think there's a better alternative around for the quick night's stay, and I certainly hope there's one for the longer-term resident.

Yelp
This place is just tired. What little renovations have happened are uneven; my party had two rooms right next to each other, and one had a renovated bathroom while the other did not. The "renovated" bathroom had visibly shoddy work, and the non-renovated bathroom was straight out of the early '60s. I'm honestly not sure which was worse. We weren't warned about construction happening during our stay. That wasn't ideal. In the morning, I woke up to such a reek of bacon and fried eggs that for a minute I thought someone had ordered room service. Rooms on the 3rd floor should NOT smell that strongly of food from the kitchens a few floors down. I can't imagine how bad the ventilation system must be for that to have happened. Thankfully I was there for only one night before taking the ferry the next day. The only redeeming factor for this hotel is its proximity to the ferry terminal. If you can stay anywhere else, do so.

Yelp
My friend and I stayed at this hotel because we were in a wedding that was 20 minutes from this location. I'm giving two stars because the staff were great, the beds comfy and the rooms quiet. The ice machine is located on the fourth floor and the floor itself has a off putting smell. The ice room needs to be cleaned. Don't eat at this hotel! I ordered a beef dip in their lounge and it didn't look like any beef dip I have ever had. The "jus" was watery fat! I dipped my pinky finger into it and tasted it and thought "yuck! I'm not eating the jus" but the sandwich itself looked ok. Three bites into the sandwich and I sent it back! Tasted bad. I immediately returned to my room and vomited. Sick for the evening! Ended up going to the pharmasave down the street from the hotel to get gravol. Luckily I was ok by the next day to be in my friends wedding. Don't. Eat. Here. There is a family restaurant (Jake's?)not far from this location that was great--eat there!

Yelp
Good. Clean and economical. Air conditioner did not work well. Water pressure was good, tv was good. A microwave would have been a benefit.

Yelp
This place probably deserves three stars because given the location of the hotel, it's pretty much the best thing around. Although the rooms are old, the bed was comfy and staff was nice.

Yelp
Not a dump but the hotel is pretty run down. TV from the last century. Stained ancient carpet. Noisy old air conditioner. Thin walls. Hasn't seen an upgrade since Nixon was President. I'm here in this faded town for tomorrow's ferry to Portland and this was the only hotel available. That being said, the service is pleasant and efficient, the room was clean, and they seems to be trying hard to do the best that they can with what they have.

Yelp
It's nothing amazing, but it's good enough. I happened to stay at the Rodd for a month once. The service was very kind, but the hotel itself is becoming run down. The hotel's hot tub is partially broken, and many rooms desperately need renovations. That being said, there have slowly been improvements to TV, internet and some floors overall. I choose the Rodd every time I stay in Yarmouth. It's the best bang for your buck.

Yelp
Terrible. Do not stay here if you want to park your car, as would be expected. Unsafe and insufficient parking. Also don't come here with people who can't walk far from parking (if it's even available). You're wasting your time here.

Yelp
Not horrible but certainly not worth anything more then a basic chain hotel. Not disgusting but not clean.... There's seriously a large build up of dirt on the vent in the bathroom and don't look behind the bed Cus I'll guarantee you it's not vacuumed. Wall paper peeling off and the bath well the bit exactly user friendly. The thing is, it's Yarmouth and I'm sure not a lot of traffic. It's fine, all I'm saying is if you can get something for less $ don't be fooled that you're getting something better here.

Yelp
Hotel needs serious upgrades. Dated, tired scruffy. Would have worked in 1975 but not today. Avoid if you can. I travel over the Maritimes and it's the most dated I've stayed in. Even the lower price box chains as it were would be a far better choice. Way past is best. Avoid
