I have been buying RV shoes for many years at Sak's and BG, but my encounter at the Madison Avenue store has ended all of this because of the shockingly poor customer service after I received a defective shoe.
There was a particular style that I needed that seemed hard to find, so I tried the RV boutique. There were no customers and the feel of the store was unnaturally quiet. I finally got someone to help and requested that they try to locate this size/style combination, which they kindly did. Because I needed them for an event, I agreed to pay $50 for the Miami store to overnight them. I received the shoes and noticed that one was scuffed up, and it really showed up on the silver. Because these shoes were around $700, I felt like they should be perfect.
I immediately took the shoes to the Madison Avenue store and entered the alternative universe of their "customer service." Please take a look at some reviews of Tod's, which shares a parent company and the same clunky service.
Unfortunately, the shoe was not available in Miami in my size and, because corporate headquarters was closing in Italy (note: do NOT have a problem in August), they were not able to help. Corporate policies were strict and they were not allowed to discount for this damage and couldn't replace it. Finally, the resolution was that a new buckle would be ordered, they would pick up my shoe, replace it and return it to me. This was not a perfect solution, as there was a scratch outside of this area, but I agreed.
Two weeks later, the real problem kicked in when Tod's "customer service" got involved. Not one thing had been done and I had to start all over again. I had to send pictures, which I did. I was then offered the "opportunity" to contact the California store myself or go back and visit the Madison Avenue store when they reopened in September. I won't bore you with the incredibly frustrating series of emails, but the bottom line is that three and 1/2 weeks later there was absolutely no idea about how to solve the problem that THEY created. I finally gave up and wrote them an email saying that life was too short to deal with this bureaucratic, unhelpful organization and I would prefer to feel free to share my story with friends and others, which is what I am doing now. Never, ever again.
