The Best Matcha Lattes in Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The matcha at Rōk doesn’t hold back. The duo is a double-layered drink with a bold, concentrated base, a thick layer of matcha-infused cream, and vivid green streaks dripping dramatically down the sides of the cup. It’s a more intense version of Stagger’s double matcha drink, and despite the strong matcha flavor, the whole thing drinks like a milkshake more than a latte. Go half-sweet if you’re not looking for dessert in a cup." - cathy park

Rōk Coffee & Tea - Review - Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Line over the “o” in its name aside, Rōk and its coffee drinks follow a familiar format. The cream-topped lattes look eerily similar to others in Koreatown, especially the “duos,” where both the base and cream are infused (like matcha-on-matcha). The drinks are intense in flavor, with streaks of matcha or espresso dripping down the sides, and unless you’re looking for dessert in a cup, order them half-sweet. The cafe resembles a spa waiting room with a large fake tree in the center, but there’s not much seating, so treat this more as a grab-and-go spot. photo credit: Cathy Park" - Cathy Park

Honestly, I read through the bad reviews and I can be empathetic about them. A lot of them were seemingly written when rok first opened when lines were busting out the door (it still is during the day) and so when the staff is super backed up and the shop is busy it’s understandable by the quality of the coffee service goes down etc. however my friend and I went after 9 pm in the evening (they close at 10) - there was still a line but not as bad. We probably waited 10 ish minutes which I think, when they make the drinks good, they are GOOD. We got the matcha duo, and it was made really well. The lady who was at the cashier was kind and helpful, she had a smile on her face - so Iooking at the bad reviews I think service could depend on whose receiving your order but also what time it is, when they’re super super busy (bc it’s an Instagram / hot spot) they might get flustered or frustrated. But the vibes were immaculate and they allowed us to sit past closing time as they cleaned. Overall the quality of the matcha was really good and I was pleased with the order. Tasted really authentic and quality, definitely well mixed. There’s also seating on the inside but it could get packed during the day. There were still people lingering inside when we went and it was almost closing time. I’d encourage anyone who went a first time and had a poor experience to go again

Google
Got the strawberry matcha w oat, and had it half sweetened but it was still sweet. Pretty expensive for a small serving but it was really good! Loved the ambience and there was no line(morning weekday), parking almost non existent unfortunately but would love to try out their other drinks. Hoping they get pastries or savory food next time i visit ;3

Google
new cafe love their duo so much if ur into thick matcha drinks with cream top pls try their matcha duo it was match with a sweet note. got surprised with their mugwort duo i have never seen mugwort drink before it was really nice. however in my taste i would order it a bit less sweet 😊 overall worth trying

Google
It was a beautiful shop as well as a good matcha. The cream on the double matcha tasted like the crème in a crème puff, if anyone has had a matcha crème puff. It was good, and they’re open late which makes it even better. The matcha was more pricey that’s usual for the normal size but it was good, the mugwort matcha was actually quite interesting but i did prefer the normal matcha duo. The mugwort tastes like earthy and a but like peppermint.

I went for Rok's soft opening and the line was (as expected) LONG! Took me almost an hour from the start until getting my drink (hence the 3 stars for service), but pretty happy with how it turned out. Decent quality matcha and quite spoiling for me who loved sweet drink. Its default came sweetened, but just at the right level. The matcha cream top added creaminess to the drink, but not overpowering. I might have other preferences for matcha, but wouldn't be mindful to come back! Besides I was kinda hooked by their caffe duo as well, which was basically caffe latte and coffee cream top. The place was nicely designed for hanging out as there were some seats and smartly without desks, avoiding people sitting for long time working or studying LOL.

Google
My coworker mentioned that the coffee there was good and she bought coffee for me this morning. I had high expectations for the drink, but I was surprised to see green tea powder mixed with the cocoa powder. I didn't order a green tea latte, but the staff sprinkled green tea powder on top. Instead of making a new one, the staff just scraped off the powder with a spoon, then put cocoa powder on top of the latte, and handed it to my coworker without any apology. The drink was delicious, but due to the staff's attitude, I won't be going back.

Google
I came to ROK after hearing about it and had to try the mango matcha. It was honestly so good even without the cream on top. It looked a little sad without it, but the flavor made up for it because the matcha was strong and exactly how I like it. My only tiny wish is that they had non-dairy cream options, especially in LA where it feels like a must. Still, I really enjoyed it and will definitely come again. Hope you consider adding options for it!

Google
Delicious matcha duo! The croissant muffin nutella is so yummy! There’s a long line but moves fast. Friendly staff and clean bathroom. Valet parking is $2 for lunch time and $3 for dinner time.

Yelp
rok valet parking was harassing us to get out of our spot when we got in our car because he wanted to park another car. We had just gotten in our car and was looking for directions he kept honking and we told him to wait. He got out of the car and told us to "HURRY UP" keep in mind it had not been more than 2 mins since we were in the car. He told us to get out bc we didn't pay for parking. Keep in mind we got there before there was a valet service therefore a payment was not required. he proceeded to BLOCK US IN OUR SPOT with the car he wanted to park. Also he was being reckless with the car he was valet. It was a white lexus rx350. This was a truly unpleasant experience. I understand rok is not in charge of who works in the valet but just wanted this experience to be known. Otherwise a great food experience just extremely aggressive and rude valet parker.

Yelp
Super into Rok and get the hype. Parking is less than subpar - Ktown, need I say more? But don't fret, once you find parking, you're in for a treat. The next roadblock between you and an exquisite matcha is a queue. The line into Rok can get lengthy, at times, but have no fear as it moves semi quickly. Once you're in, it's all fun from there. Order your matcha or tea of choice and hang tight. The interior is intimate, vibey, and serene. I thoroughly enjoyed the matcha duo which is their take on a matcha einspanner. They did well with this one. The milk and sweetness level are adjustable and customizable. Service is decent in that they'll make tweaks should you have a request but are "LA friendly" if ya catch my drift. Overall, one of the better matcha shops in LA amongst a new fav DAMO.
google avatar

Jannet C.

Yelp
The reviews are correct, the lines ARE LONG. But the hype? Valid. Rok Coffee and Tea makes an excellent addition to the already amazing matcha scene in the LA Ktown area. This cozy little cafe offers both straight matcha drinks as well as fruity infusions and coffee as well. On the day we went, we had the Sparkling Yuzu Matcha, the Strawberry Matcha Duo, and the Matcha Duo. Both the matcha duos were decadent from how full and creamy the matcha turned out to be, but my winner for the hot LA day we visited was actually the Sparkling Yuzu Matcha, which had an excellent blend of Yuzu's refreshing sweetness balanced by the high-quality matcha in this sparkling beverage.
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
I'm going to have to go against the crowd and say that Rok falls short of the expectations for matcha/coffee in LA, specifically ktown. The coffee shop is small with limited seating where everyone is packed like sardines waiting for their drink. For this reason, lines extend out the door and wait times are longer. We parked in the lot behind that is valet but we let the attendant know that we were just there to pick something up. The cafe shares space with a larger restaurant next door. My first time here, I ordered the biscoff coffee and a blueberry matcha. Maybe it was an off day but everything was sour. The coffee is supposed to be a latte with espresso I believe but you would've mistaken it for cold brew. The coffee was so sour. The cream on top was not really sweetened and as a result, the drink felt lack luster. No taste of biscoff whatsoever besides the big crumbs they dust the top of the drink with. As for the blueberry matcha, the blueberry was more of a compote than the usual syrup. Again, the blueberry was so sour it ruined the drink. The matcha itself tasted good, apart from the chunks of matcha powder that occasionally gets caught in your throat. I'm not in LA often so I tried this place when I was out there for an event after hearing so much about it. Unfortunately, Rok is a pass. There are so many other matcha and coffee places littered around the area that I would visit instead. Not worth the price ($8+ per drink) and wait.

Yelp
The matcha duo was to die for!!! It's so unique! So it's a Korean Style Einspänner. a twist on the classic Viennese coffee drink (I had to look it up: often featuring a creamy, dense cold foam topping that adds a luxurious touch to the strong espresso base) I highly suggest you make no substitutions (like the milk) so you get the true experience of how it's meant to be drunk. The top part is like a custard dessert and the drink is under it. My friend substituted the milk for oat or almond and the consistency was totally different. The matcha flavor was phenomenal. 75% of the patrons seem to order the matcha. We also had the strawberry croissant, also excellent. Don't let the line up front steer you away, I think it's worth it to check out at least once - it's very unique. They have a few indoor seats but most people seem to enjoy standing/sitting in the outside area. I easily grabbed a table inside. Parking is tough, especially in the evening. I saw that there might be valet behind the shop but I tend to try finding street parking in ktown whenever I can. If you drive around and ok to walk a few blocks, it's totally possible.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
I always see a long line outside so when it was empty one day since they just opened up, I rushed across the street to check it out for myself. I ordered the Sparkling Yuzu Matcha ($7.50), and I've also tried some of the Matcha Duo ($7). It was so good that I went back two more times within the week. While the line to order can get long, it moves pretty quickly and it also doesn't take too long to get your drink order as well. Both drinks were the best matcha that I've had in the city so far. The matcha flavor is so prominent, and it's great that they have dairy and non dairy options. I do prefer the yuzu matcha because it's non dairy plus it's really refreshing on a hot summer day. I also like that you're able to customize the sweetness of the drinks as well. There was minimal contact with the people working there. You order on an ipad and stand off to the side outside and wait while they bring out multiple orders at once. When you're getting just drinks everything is basically done outdoors so that they leave the indoor area just for people actually getting food. I really liked the drinks here and I'm down to try more of the items on the menu. If I'm in the area I would definitely be stopping by again.

Yelp
I went early on a Sunday morning and that definitely was the way to go. Parking was easy to find, but it was again, early. I love matcha and had been hearing so much about this place. I got the matcha duo and it was delicious! Matcha doesn't give me the energy boost that coffee does, but this one definitely gave me energy for the entire day! Which, obviously, I did not mind at all. Lol. Inside is not very large but cute. There are a few tables and the space is cozy.
google avatar

Yelp
I found this place on from all the TikTok reviews of this place. Rok was hyped up to a tier I didn't think it'd live up to, but it did. I got the matcha duo and highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't like fruit at the bottom. I was glad to see it was sweetened with agave instead of some artificial sweeteners. The top of the drink has a matcha foam that tastes awesome. The chocolate croissant was an ordinary croissant, nothing special. If you come with a group of people, come early! The place fills up quick due to the small space. They have an authentic pink orchid tree that may make you think you're in Japan for a moment, then you realize you're in LA. All in all, the best matcha I've had and love the atmosphere in there.
google avatar

Maddie W.

Yelp
We got the mango mugwort matcha and it was soooo sweet. Will definitely ask for less sweet next time! It's got a very rich flavor but heads up the mango tastes like it's been just sitting in syrup haha The espresso tonic was super refreshing! Service is quick and it's nice they're connected to a tofu soup spot. It's a cute spot and very popular. Worth trying at least once!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
AMAZING drinks!!! Got the mugwort black sesame latte and it was so delicious. You could taste all the different flavors in there. The line is long, try to come early. Service is friendly and you just have a bit of a wait for your drink to come out. Inside is very pretty, plenty of seating available and pretty interior decor too.

Yelp
Rok Coffee and Tea is one of the most popular coffee shops in LA for a reason! This spot is located in KTown and is making waves as one of the best matcha spots in SoCal and beyond. To get here, street parking will be your best bet and there is a good amount of it throughout the area. Wifey and I pulled up in the morning around 10am and it was about a 15-minute wait. Inside, they have a sleek and modern interior with a solid amount of seating. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different coffee, signature, matcha, fruit duo, and tonic drinks to choose from. I got the Matcha Duo and it was rich and decadent with a nice flavor profile. Overall, I am glad I finally got the chance to see what the hype is all about. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Best matcha spot in LA? Come stop by and find out for yourself!
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! This gives me a glimpse of how (real) matcha will taste when I visit Japan :) Service is amazing, very friendly staff; cute smaller area to sit and enjoy your drinks; parking is not too bad on the street! Will definitely return when I'm in the area!

Yelp
I've been here on two separate occasions - once on a Saturday around 1:30 PM, and they had a line set up outside. We waited about 20 minutes and got our drinks another 15 minutes later. The second time was a Tuesday afternoon, around the same time, and there was no line so we got our drinks pretty quickly. My go-to is always the double matcha. The drink was good both times, but I did notice a bit of inconsistency; it tasted less matcha-rich the second time. Hoping it was just a one-off, but I would come back again.
google avatar

Joycelyn C.

Yelp
We came around 8:30AM on a Sunday because I was told it gets busy and there weren't too many people when we came! It was definitely a smaller area inside than anticipated for cafe but it is LA. We ordered the matcha latte, matcha duo, almond croissant, and ham and cheese croissant. The matcha latte was sweet with everything normal but I forgot to get it adjusted and it still had a good matcha flavor! I loved the matcha duo with no adjustment however! The croissants were good, but would have been even better if they had a toaster. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here after 10pm on a Friday night after eating at Lasung because I've heard such good things about this cafe, and after trying it I can say it really is good. Since I went so late there wasn't a line, and I got my drink really fast. I got the matcha duo with oat milk and I enjoyed the strong matcha flavor in both the drink and matcha foam. It was a little sweet for me, but that's just personal preference because I like minimal sweetness.
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
TLDR: another strong and sweet cream top matcha spot in LA; valet parking available for $2-3 + street parking First of all, the lines are craazyy, but that's LA for you. I tried the double matcha and the mugwort matcha, and both were strong matchas complimented well by the very sweet creams. The creams are highly accurate flavor-wise, so you know exactly what you're getting. If you haven't tried mugwort before, it's earthy with a unique pungent scent - a little medicinal and somewhat herbal. I personally like my matcha strong and sweet, so the cream tops were essential. But to capture a wider audience, I understand why they chose to keep the matcha unsweetened and the cream tops extra sweet. Overall, I think it's worth trying this place as part of the dining experience at Lasung next door, but I wouldn't wait 1hr+ just for these drinks.
google avatar

TY S.

Yelp
Rok is one of my fav spots to get matcha at in ktown! I love getting their matcha duo drink and I think it tastes really similar to the double matcha at Stagger. The matcha here is very smooth with a strong flavor. It's also the perfect amount of creaminess. I also really like that you can adjust the sweetness to your drink which probably means that each drink is made to order! The only things I don't like are that they limit the number of drinks you can order and that the cup sizes are a bit small. Their matcha is so good I always finish in two gulps and my gluttonous side always wants more! Parking here is quite limited as it is constrained to street parking and the wait is a bit long but that's typical for a cafe in ktown.
google avatar

Yan L.

Yelp
Second time visiting Rok! I love their matcha! Rich matcha flavor in every drink and perfect sweetness level for me except I can see how it might be too sweet for some! The drinks always come out quickly, but the line to order can get long. Street parking only which can be tricky depending on the day you go. There's a decent amount of seating inside, but it does get crowded... I tried the mango matcha duo! 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Roxanne C.

Yelp
I think people love comparing Rok to Stagger but I feel like they're both equally good (in terms of the double matcha). Rok's matcha latte itself is better while Stagger's matcha cream is better. I usually get my drinks less sweet at cafes and boba places but I actually prefer not to adjust the sweetness here. We also tried the mango matcha and it was too sweet for my liking. Cafe itself is super cute with a good amount of seating. They have a special deal with the restaurant next door (Lasung) which I think is really cool!
google avatar

Yelp
This place deserves the hype! I was able to try the mugwort duo, matcha duo, cafe duo, and lotus einspanner and they are all great drinks. Matcha Duo: Personally, I have to say I loved the Matcha Duo the most! It was the star of the show! Matcha notes were umami, nutty in the best ways & what I look for in my ideal matcha. Love the matcha cream top as well! (5/5) Mugwort Duo: I never had mugwort before so I was curious bc I heard it was good for anti-inflammatory & digestion lol. The drink was on the sweeter side and tasted like a fall drink bc it almost felt cinnamon-y in a way, delicious drink but I think I'd reduce the sugar next time if possible! (3.5/5) Cafe Duo was a solid coffee, can really taste the coffee, more bitter just how I like my coffee. (4/5) & Lotus Einspanner was a sweeter version due to the Lotus biscoff cookie on top (4/5). My party waited for around 10 mins as the line was out the door, but to be fair the inside is pretty small so only several people can wait/sit around. I liked the aesthetics inside, simple & natural elements. Line went by quickly, considering we only waiting for a few mins after we ordered & our drinks were made! Free street parking available around the neighborhood. Definitely coming again for matcha!
google avatar

Remy H.

Yelp
Love a cafe that offers a drink with black sesame! The black sesame latte was wonderful and not overly sweet. The strawberry matcha duo was beautiful and delicious
google avatar

jenn l.

Yelp
This place has shown up on my feed for a while and on a recent trip out to downtown, I had to add this to my stops. Rōk has quality matcha. I can see why it has such high reviews. The matcha was rich and my latte wasn't too milky. It was the right ratio of everything. The cashier barista was super friendly and given that this place usually has long lines, he had a lot of patience for a late afternoon (when I got there). There isn't much seating here so it really is more of a stop by/pick up rather than hangout cafe. Parking is street parking and if you can get away with parking in the garage behind. It looked valet/reserved but no one was there when I drove in. But street parking is a safer bet. All in all, one of the better matchas I've had but also really small in size compared to others! Wish it were larger!
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
Got the matcha duo! The line wasn't too long on a Saturday afternoon. I arrived at 2:07 and got my drink around 2:30 (better than what I was expecting) There was only street parking, so be prepared to parallel park. The service was great! The drink itself had an umami earthiness. Matcha flavor was very potent and the matcha cream top had a good consistency. I wish the drinks came in a larger cup, but it was still super yummy.
google avatar

Aithi D.

Yelp
OMG SO FIRE i came on a weekday around 8 there were only a few people in front of me. service was fast and efficent and the interior was so beautiful and clean. matcha duo- on the sweeter side which i do prefer! if u dont then be sure to adjust it. i loved it so much very strong matcha flavor black sesame mugwort- earthy and great for those who like this type of flavor lotus einspanner- BLEW my mind it reminds me of the vienna latte from yeems. so strong and delicious def coming back and probs trying out their restaurant attached which is lasung
google avatar

Kathleen T.

Yelp
This is the best matcha I've tried in all of SoCal. My cousin and I both have been to Japan and even he was like this is the best I've tasted here. I tried the matcha mango and he tried the strawberry matcha, both were good! There is a tree in the center of the shop that everyone likes to sit around and take pictures with. The shop is connected to a restaurant next door! The owner is nice! Service was fast. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Came on a Friday afternoon and there was a slight lineup outside. Line goes by somewhat quick. There's some tables and seats to study but since it's busy it isn't the quietest. Pretty tree in the middle of the store to take pics as well! I got the Double Matcha and it was so good! Although their standard size is slightly smaller than a regular cup at other coffee shops, i would still say it's worth. The matcha is sooo rich and the flavor of the drink itself is definitely heavy on the matcha and creaminess. Perfectly sweetened and strong since I love matcha!
google avatar

Jaquelyne L.

Yelp
Both times I've gone, the line is quite long so there is a wait. The wait for the actual drink itself wasn't too long. The double matcha and black sesame latte were both good but the sesame was more unique. The matcha is on the sweeter side with barely any to no bitterness.
google avatar

Vincent M.

Yelp
Decided to stop by here right after grabbing dinner next door at Lasung Tofu & Pot Rice. Shocked to find a cafe open till 11pm but glad it was! I had heard from numerous friends that this place was a must try for matcha. When walking in you're greeted with a cute and serene aesthetic. I ended up getting the Strawberry Matcha Duo. Strawberry Matcha Duo 8/10 - Instructions by the pick up counter suggest sipping to taste the foam first, then mixing the drink to enjoy the rest of it. The matcha cream was so good. Strong matcha flavor with a delightful creaminess without being too heavy. The strawberry jam was nice and sweet, though it was a lot and took quite a bit of mixing to fully incorporate it into the drink. The first few sips were just the strawberry jam, but once I got it mixed it was a good balance. The matcha flavor really stands out in a great way. I prefer a sweeter matcha so this was a great pick. Definitely one of the better matchas I've had. You can taste the high quality while still having good amount of sweetness. Will definitely be coming back to try their other drinks!
google avatar

Airi G.

Yelp
I recommend visiting at 11 a.m. on a Sunday because there was practically no line and the drinks came out within 5 minutes. There was also a good turn around of tables so we managed to snag some seats. They're known for their matcha so we ordered the matcha duo and cafe duo for the best of both worlds. The matcha was rich and creamy and the cream top was perfect. The matcha latte isn't whisked, probably because it takes too long, so they use a concentrate which you can taste at the bottom if you don't stir it. I also loved the coffee but make sure to mix it first so the syrup doesn't sit at the bottom. I don't see many places with a coffee cream top but they nailed it. There's street parking, which we luckily found, but not too many spots were available so be prepared.
google avatar

Piyathida R.

Yelp
The Double Matcha was incredible, rich, creamy, and not too sweet. Honestly, 100/10 and probably the best matcha I've had in K-town. The coffee was also bold and smooth, with delicious cream. I also tried the Matcha Lavender, which was... interesting The flavor combo was a little confusing for me, but adventurous drinkers might enjoy it. The cafe itself is super cute, with a big tree in the middle that makes it a perfect Instagram-worthy spot. Service was fine, though the place was really busy, so it was more of a quick order-and-pay type of experience rather than full service. Overall, amazing drinks (especially the matcha), a beautiful cafe to hang out or snap photos, and worth checking out if you're in K-town.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
FINALLY tried Rōk Coffee and Tea. We came on a Saturday afternoon (around 12PM) and it was super busy. We waited an hour in line -- never again lol. My friends ordered the double matcha and I ordered the mugwort duo! The mugwort duo has a bean taste with thick foam on top. I highly recommend the mugwort if you're a bean lover like I am :-) The matcha was really yummy too -- tasted like a standard matcha latte to me. I'll come back again once the hype dies down since the hour wait was not it.
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
i feel like the line and parking situation were a little extra, but the matcha itself was yum, small but a couple tables and seating options inside, bathroom is in restaurant next door. if in LA id try this again, i get the hype the mango matcha tasted very fresh and not too sweet or overpowering
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Long line that's moves pretty fast, so don't let that intimidate you. When we came the coffee portion of the menu was not available. I got the sparkling yuzu matcha, and I can confidently say I understand the hype. Matcha was smooth, strong yet mild, and the sweetness of the yuzu paired perfectly with the carbonation giving it a refreshing zing. Food: 9.5/10 Service: 9/10 Ambience: ??? (Outdoor waiting in line the entire time$
google avatar

Noesh H.

Yelp
Nothing but 10/10 quality matcha, service, and pricing. The matcha itself has the perfect consistency and color, along with a really good blend of sweetness. Definitely worth the hype. I ordered the matcha duo!
google avatar

Hanna L.

Yelp
I think this has now become my favorite place for matcha. Service was great, the interior was exquisite, and the matcha is something else. RECOMMENDATIONS: ~For hot days, I recommend the YUZU tonic. ~Also, the matcha DUOS are amazing...

Yelp
Rōk Coffee and Tea is one of many ceremonial matcha & specialty coffee shops in Koreatown and yes this is one of those TikTok viral matcha spots. The word rōk is inspired by the Korean word 초록 (chorōk) meaning green. The shop was opened in March 2025. [Parking]: Very limited parking behind the tea shop. I ended up parking on the street which can be difficult in this part of the town, but I wouldn't say it was impossible to find an available street parking spot (I parked on W 11th St). [Ordering]: Our party came at 10 AM and there was already a line formed. Luckily the line moved pretty quickly. [Atmosphere]: A bit crowded with somewhat of a loud background music so it can be slightly difficult to hear the in-person conversation. [Menu]: Matcha Duo (Duos = both the base and cream are infused with matcha) is the best seller, but they offer other options such as einspanner, regular latte, cold brew, teas, and tonic. *** Matcha Duo ($7.50): Excellent drink with right amount of sweetness and creamy foam. *** 4.5-star on Matcha Duo, but bump down to 4-star due to difficult parking and this is not exactly the best date spot to have a good conversation (not to mention there's nothing else to check out within the walkable distance).

Yelp
Friday afternoon-ish and there was about a 15-minute line outside which moved pretty fast. This was the second stop of my LA/OC matcha bender so I was super excited. Matcha Duo: ya this was worth the hype idk what else to say. Rich, creamy, not too much ice *chefs kiss*. I will say that I preferred my friend's who got less sweet, if you're worried about how sweet your matchas are! This ranked #1 on our list after our matcha bender. Take that as you will!

Yelp
There was a line out the door around 11:30 AM on a Tuesday but the line moved fairly quickly. I got the Matcha Duo with oat milk, half sweet and it was perfect!! Not too sweet, not too creamy, and well balanced with the matcha flavors still shining through. It was one of the best if not best matcha drinks I have had here in LA, comparable to the ones I've had in Japan this past summer. They supposedly use ceremonial grade matcha from Uji, Japan and that's why it's so good! My husband got the sparkling yuzu matcha and his was also delicious!! So refreshing and light! I would definitely get this again too. Inside seating area is cute and aesthetic with several tables. Not too big of a seating area but we had no problem finding seats as it seemed like most people were getting drinks to go. Parking: valet or street

Yelp
Rok was the matcha cafe I was most excited to try out. The line didn't take that long and honestly moved really fast! I had teo other people with me and so we got the Matcha Duo, Mango Matcha Duo, and Blueberry Matcha Duo. I'm telling you that ALL of them were a hit. The regular Matcha Duo was already really good. It was refreshing, had the right amount of sweetness, and so so creamy. The Mango Matcha Duo had the right taste of mango and the mixture was delicious. The Blueberry Matcha Duo was the one I was scared to try and that's only because I had a bad experience in the past. But this one was really good and honestly healed me! I asked what matcha they use and they said they weren't able to disclose it which is understandable! The wait is worth it and please, please if you are in the area, get in line.

Yelp
Truly a MATCHA made in heaven with @rokcoffeeandtea . I finally tried out this viral Koreatown cafe specializing in ceremonial matcha lattes, and the hype is definitely well warranted! The quality of the matcha they use in their drinks is definitely standout, and I was absolutely in love with their signature matcha duo, which features a matcha latte topped with the creamiest matcha cream top. Right now, they're also currently offering seasonal fruit duo lattes on their menu, which come in strawberry, mango and blueberry flavors. These drinks are the perfect, lighter refreshers for the summer, and I love how they contain REAL fruit purée that go perfectly with the grassier notes of matcha. I'm still a matcha purist at heart, but these drinks are great if you don't love the flavor of matcha or want something a bit lighter. Free parking available in the parking garage connected to the building. I would expect a bit of a wait, but lines move quickly and so does tables opening up on the inside, if you want to sit to chat or do some work. Also highly recommend checking out La Sung Tofu next door either before or after Rok!

Yelp
Delicious matcha and cruffin! Staff was very patient and helpful with ordering for a first time visit. The line was very long, but quick turnover between ordering and receiving your drink. This location has limited indoor seating so I recommend exploring the outdoor seating or stopping here to grab & go!

Yelp
Located right next to Lasung tofu stew, this spot has a cute interior and even better matcha. I got the mugwort matcha because it was late in the day and I didn't want a lot of caffeine, but I'll definitely be back to try the full matcha. The mugwort tastes a bit like a stronger black sesame, and I really liked how flavorful the drink was. Will definitely be back to try the Lasung / Rok lunch combo!

Yelp
I'll admit it--I came here because of FOMO. Many times I drove by to see a very long line going out onto the street. Finally stopped by on a weekend morning when I snagged a parking space out front on Olympic. Their parking structure behind it was full. I tried the matcha duo for $7.50. This iced beverage is an einspanner with the layer of whipped matcha and cream topping, matcha syrup on the base and a little sweetened matcha powder as a garnish atop the cream topping. If you like your matcha with a milky cream finish in taste, then this is the drink for you. The jury is still out on my own feelings toward matcha. I notice after sampling around town and in NYC that Korean cold matcha drinks are too light in matcha for my taste, and Japanese ones (while in Japan) are too strong. I prefer something in the middle, leaning a little more Japanese than Korean. The menu also has coffee beverages that I will try the next time I'm brave enough to hunt for a parking spot in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Excited to finally have tried this place! Came on a Friday around 1:30 pm and there was a small line out the door but it took around 5-10 mins to order and only 5 mins for the drinks. I got their matcha duo and it was creamy, rich and slightly sweet and did get sweeter after the cream mixed in. The matcha was a bit bitter for my taste though. I also tried the lotus einspanner and it was strong and the cream was delicious and nicely sweet. It's aesthetic and clean inside with a few tables but can get crowded with people constantly coming in.

Yelp
I came on a Sunday morning around 8:15 AM and the line was less than 5 minutes :) I had to get the strawberry matcha, and it was hands-down the best I've ever had. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the matcha cream top was absolute heaven--rich, smooth, and the perfect finishing touch. I went with two others who ordered the yuzu matcha tonic and that was pretty good and refreshing too. I'll definitely be back to try their matcha duo.

Yelp
Okaayyy rōk ! In my personal opinion, this place lives up to the hype. We went on a Saturday in the late morning and there was barely a line (although I have heard stories of people waiting for a long time here). I got the double matcha, which was a typical matcha latte with matcha cream top. My friend got the sparkling yuzu matcha. Both drinks had such intense yet light and refreshing matcha profiles! You definitely pay for quality here. Unfortunately, I docked a star because the location doesn't come without its downsides; the parking situation is pretty dire with a very small lot in the back, otherwise expect to find street parking. This time around, they were undergoing reno, so drinks were limited to 2 per customer and I cant really comment on the study-space potential just yet. Staff were helpful and friendly. This is one of my top picks in LA to satisfy my matcha kick, for sure!

Yelp
I kept hearing about this place finally decided to go Parking is hard, there is a structure next door but not many spaces, and street parking The space is cute, nice earthy industrial vibe. There is some space to sit inside or outside as well. Service is good, friendly staff :) I ordered the famous matcha duo that is a matcha latte with a matcha foam top. I did not alter it except for oat milk since I'm Lactose intolerant. I also got the vanilla iced latte! There is a lot of pastry options as well, at least since I was there early morning The matcha duo is phenomenal. Great balanced earthy taste, the foam top adds sweetness as you sip. Tip: don't use a straw to drink it, when you sip from the actual cup the you get a bit of the foam and matcha latte in every sip This place is similar to stagger. I definitely recommend to all matcha fans and think it is definitely deserves allllll the hype it is getting

Yelp
I have been passing by RoK and Lasung Tofu the last few months and there has been a crowd of people every time I pass by. I finally got to try RoK last weekend as I had dinner Lasung. On Sunday evening, the line was pretty long, but it did move fairly quickly. After looking through the menu, I opted to try the matcha duo (which I think is one of the more popular drinks). Once you order, the drink does come out fairly quickly. I waited about 25ish minutes from waiting in line to getting my drink. As for the drink itself, it was super creamy and pretty good. The matcha was not bitter and the creaminess made the drink taste pretty smooth. I am lactose intolerant, so I liked the fact that they had non-dairy option (however, I imagine the dairy option is even creamier). I definitely would like to try the mugworth duo, which I think is another popular drink. Although I did think that the drink was pretty good and would definitely like to come back, I am not sure if the wait was worth it for the drink. Next time I go, if there is a line, if there is a long line, I probably will pass, but willing to go when there are shorter lines. A couple of logistics. I think there is a small lot, but I couldn't find it, so I street parked. The street parking is slightly sparse right by the restaurant, but if you are willing to walk a few blocks, there is plenty of spaces along Olympic. There is also some seating inside the restaurant (super cute in there) and outside.

Yelp
Prepare to wait in line--but it's worth it for some of the best matcha drinks in LA. My friends and I studied the menu while we waited, and we all ended up ordering the Mugwort Duo (partly because a few options were already sold out)--and wow, no regrets. It was earthy, nutty, and just slightly sweet. As someone who enjoys a little bitterness in her drinks, I really appreciated the depth the mugwort added. It's not your typical sweet matcha latte, and that's exactly why I loved it. All the seating was taken, but that was fine since we were planning to grab and go. Just a heads-up: if you're looking for a place to relax and hang out for a while, this probably isn't it--at least not during peak hours. Parking is also a bit of a hassle, and the line can get long, so I'm not sure how often I'll be back. But if you're in the area and don't mind a bit of a wait, it's definitely worth trying!
