ROKPA Guest House - Best Guest House in Boudha

Very rude and inhospitable hotel manager. Shouting and lying to me about what room I'd booked, felt quite intimidated as a solo female traveller so cancelled my booking and left. The receptionist (also male) was trying to sort out the problem in a nice manner, but the manager just shouted at him also. Edit: In response to the manger comments, I did not demand any discount, I just said I would only pay for a standard room, not a deluxe, as that is what you had available. This is only fair and reasonable. I did not want the hassle of cancelling a booking only to have to find alternative accommodation, but your attitude left me feeling unsafe at your hotel.

This place is amazing. Quiet location outside of most of the tourist madness. The staff, food, atmosphere are all wonderful, to say nothing of the history. I spent four nights and would 100% come back next time I'm in Kathmandu.

Rokpa Guest House is my favourite place to stay in Kathmandu. The staff are extremely friendly and feel like family to me. The food is yummy, the rooms are great and the very highlight is its small garden - a haven of peace in the middle of the busy Boudhanath. Its vicinity to the great Boudhanath Stupa is perfect - in only two minutes you are there and can walk your koras around the Stupa with the many locals. Also, it is worth exploring Rokpas bigger story. It is not merely a beautiful guesthouse but has a long standing history of providing street children with a home and education, soup kitchens and generally helping where help is most urgently needed. I am humbled by this organisation, its history and its commitment to excellence and integrity. (you will find an exhibit on the top floor of Rokpa Guest house that beautiful tells the story of 40+ years of Rokpa's activities in Tibet and Nepal ... I highly recommend a stay in this exceptional place that is so much more than a stunningly comfortable relaxing home in Kathmandu!

Our favourite place to stay on Kathmandu - we’ve been coming for many years! The serene garden is an oasis amongst the city chaos, food is delicious, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are true stars! We‘d definitely recommend.

I love this place and how they support job training and have stayed here many times over the years. However, I have recently stopped staying here as the prices have continued to climb and the attention to details have not improved. The level of hospitality training has much room for improvement. The room cleanliness is 1*, especially for the bathroom curtains and towels. The rooms are expensive and run-down (even the brand new ones). I stayed in a brand new room and the door didn't lock, the closet door didn't align so it didn't stay shut, and the shower curtain was already moldy and gross. The shower curtains are even worse in the old rooms. The cafe is good, though.

Serene environment with greenery and nature! Down-to-earth staff in every department, eager and excited to assist everyone always! And, yes, sumptuous meals on the menu! Rokpa is a home away from home!

I am currently staying at the ROKPA Guest House from July 12th and will be here until July 28th for a family vacation. I wanted to share my appreciation for the wonderful experience we have had so far.||||The staff warmly welcomed us, and the check-in process was smooth and quick. front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home.||||Our stay has been very comfortable and enjoyable. The room is spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing us with all the amenities we need. The housekeeping staff have done an excellent job of keeping our room tidy throughout our stay.||||Overall, we are still having a wonderful time and truly appreciate the efforts of the staff in making our vacation memorable. We look forward to the rest of our stay and will gladly recommend the ROKPA Guest House to others. Additionally, we are excited about our upcoming stay at the ROKPA Guest House in the future.

I have been there few times,and the experience has always been amazing. The atmosphere of the place is very calm and soothing. Plus, you can enjoy a great variety of cuisine. The bakeries are especially delicious. The most amazing part about the place was that, the guest house is a part of a larger project that supports socially disadvantaged children and women. So while you are there, it's not just food that you are receiving but also the many feelings.. Highly recommended place for anyone visiting Bauddha.
