My three nights here were unforgettable. It is a nearly perfect environment for a hostel with an incredibly kind and helpful staff and a great atmosphere for meeting other travelers. I cannot recommend this place more, and hope others get a chance to see the warmth and hospitality provided to me during my stay.

I would recommend this hostel for everybody looking for a stay in Hiroshima. The owner Mako san is always in a good mood and that automatically spreads to you as well. The beads are comfy, the bathrooms clean, the kitchen well equipped. Delicious drinks and food can be ordered throughout the day and if you're ever bored, Rina will be happy to have a good time with you. If you stay in Hiroshima, stay here!

We stayed at Roku Guesthouse in the mixed dorm for 1 night in August 2024, but I wish we had stayed at least 1 more night. The staff are very friendly and helpful, with a convivial ambiance. The beds were very comfortable and spacious. Each bed has privacy curtains, an attached cupboard, and a small power bar with two outlets. There are multiple sinks and toilets and for maybe a maximum 20 guests or so in total. There is only one shower, so you may have to wait your turn, but they provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash. They also provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, Q-tips, face wash, ear plugs, face towels, and body towels. There is a large communal fridge where you can store food, and some free sauces, as well as rice, in the fridge. There is a microwave, toaster oven, kettle, hot plate, and toaster. There are pans, plates, cups, and some cooking utensils. For each night of stay you get a free drink at the bar, and the other drinks are cheap. I recommend the ginger cocktail for 500円. The restaurants in the area closed before the advertised times, so we had few options to eat late at night. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Shin-Hakushima Station and about a 30-minute walk to the Dome/ the Peace Park (it is a nice walk along the river).

We stayed for 4 nights in a private room with two twin beds. The room was very spacious and had a massage chair, which was lovely. Each night you get a free welcome drink and they made a very good gin drink that I would recommend. Also the locals would drop into the bar, which was great. We did have issues with the dryer (it was going to take multiple 90 minute cycles to dry our regular sized load of laundry), which ate into a bit of our morning one day. They had space for us to air dry the clothes, which helped resolve the issue. Lastly, the owner does bring their kid to work every day. Normally this would not be an issue, but the kid seems to have free rein of the place (disrupting any/all conversations, kept touching me, and kept grabbing my things at the bar). Regardless, over our 2 week trip in Japan this was the best hostel experience that we had.

Incredible stay at Roku. They take you in and make you a part of the family. I spent an afternoon with the owner’s father learning about Hiroshima architecture. It was amazing. One of the best places I’ve stayed in all of Japan.

One of the best hostels I stayed at in Japan! The vibe is homely and social, you meet other travellers very easily over the welcome drink you get every night. The owners and staff are so welcoming as well. They provide towels and toiletries, which is great. Beds are comfy and location is great :)
