Roma on Riccarton

Lovely place. Spotless room, bathroom, and linens. Lovely shower and nice large towels. Comfortable bed and pillows. Easy parking. Very little road noise for being on a busy road; not very noticeable and didn’t keep me awake. Loved the little outdoor patio off our room. Owner was so kind with recommendations for restaurants and activities, and helped me out with an unexpected vehicle issue - thank you! We had a car so drive to restaurants, otherwise I think the bus would be easy. A few restaurants nearby but not many. I’d stay again next time I’m in Christchurch!

We had a wonderful three-night stay here. Room was spacious and spotlessly clean, and I loved everything about it—interior design, furniture, small details, and even the pleasant scent. Kitchen was fully equipped, and all the utensils were incredibly clean and well maintained, honestly the best I’ve seen among places I’ve stayed. Washing machine was also clean and easy to use, and we did laundry twice during our stay. Most of all, I truly appreciated the owner’s kindness. When I emailed about our late check-in, they replied quickly and were very accommodating. They were also knowledgeable about local attractions, and the discount coupons we received were a great bonus. Although the location is a bit away from the city center, there’s a bus stop nearby and we had a rental car, so getting around was easy. It was quiet and relaxing, and we were very happy with our stay. Since my English isn’t great and I couldn’t fully express my thanks in person, I hope this review does instead!

Unit was upstairs, nice & tidy..Great shower! Great Bed, only microwave for cooking, elecric Frypan & toasty pie machine..but heaps of restaurants close by, Asian, Lone Star, Noodle House etc. Gave us a later Check Out of 10.30am, # 11 was very quiet considering on Riccarton Rd. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay here, we couldn’t fault the unit. The location of the motel was ideal as it was a nice walk into town through the park. The hosts were very welcoming and helped make us feel at home. We will be back

All the main attractions of Christchurch are within walking distance, the rooms are very cozy and have everything you need inside. The owners of this place are very kind and pleasant people. I think this is the perfect place to stay in Christchurch.

Really enjoyed our stay here. It's an easy15-20 minute walk from the main train station and about a 20-minute Uber/taxi ride to/from the airport. It's also just a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Botanical Gardens through to the city centre (recommend the hop on/off tram to get around town). It it spacious, quiet and comfortable, had a great sleep and everything you need to cater for yourself if you want to. If you want to eat out I also recommend the Burj restaurant (part of the Mayor of Ale) just on the next block, fantastic middle eastern cuisine, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices.

I stayed here during a work trip and had a very comfortable experience. Karen and Alan were incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay. The location is excellent — quiet, convenient, and within walking distance of plenty of great food options. Would definitely stay again.

Definitely one of the best motels I have stayed in with my family. Bright and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Easy central location, fantastic eateries nearby. The unit was immaculately cleaned and presented, very well thought through. It was nice to see the passion of the owners show through in the attention to details and room accents, they have really gone above and beyond here. We have stayed in many rooms around the south island, and this one is definitely at the top of the list, will 100% be back next time. Keep it up guys, your are exceptional.

It is rare that I take the time to write a review because, well I'm too lazy. But I am inspired to share about the loveliest motel where we've enjoyed staying in early August. Roma on Riccarton is small, tucked along Riccarton just steps from the park and near plenty of good restaurants. Our room is sparkling clean, very roomy and well appointed with king bed, leather loveseat, 3chairs, desk/table, and luggage rack. All in new condition. Lovely, very clean kitchenette tucked in with small fridge microwave ,teapot, French press, toaster, matched (!) set of china and glassware. All looking nearly new. Our room had sliding glass doors opening onto a pretty private patio with table and chairs ( and blooming camellia!). Hosts are warm and welcoming too. Easy parking, great location. An unexpected treasure in the unexpectedly wonderful city of Christchurch.
