Roma on Riccarton

Really enjoyed our stay here. It's an easy15-20 minute walk from the main train station and about a 20-minute Uber/taxi ride to/from the airport. It's also just a 10 minute walk to the beautiful Botanical Gardens through to the city centre (recommend the hop on/off tram to get around town). It it spacious, quiet and comfortable, had a great sleep and everything you need to cater for yourself if you want to. If you want to eat out I also recommend the Burj restaurant (part of the Mayor of Ale) just on the next block, fantastic middle eastern cuisine, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices.

I stayed here during a work trip and had a very comfortable experience. Karen and Alan were incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay. The location is excellent — quiet, convenient, and within walking distance of plenty of great food options. Would definitely stay again.

Definitely one of the best motels I have stayed in with my family. Bright and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Easy central location, fantastic eateries nearby. The unit was immaculately cleaned and presented, very well thought through. It was nice to see the passion of the owners show through in the attention to details and room accents, they have really gone above and beyond here. We have stayed in many rooms around the south island, and this one is definitely at the top of the list, will 100% be back next time. Keep it up guys, your are exceptional.

E mihi ana ki a korua Karen & Alan for your manaaki during our stay. From my initial phone call when booking Karen was so accommodating, friendly and welcoming. Grateful to be able to check in early, service with a smile and Alan showed us to our room. Bed was great and shower pressure excellent, which are two important things we always take note of. Plenty of room, clean and comfortable. Will definitely be back and will recommend to others.

Lovely 3 night stay. Immaculately clean rooms, comfy beds, very quiet and simple breakfast available from very friendly hosts. Walking distance from the city and convenient location if you are coming from the airport - just get the No. 3 bus.

Thank you Lynne and Mark for our very comfortable two nights. The room put a smile on my face when I entered. So attractive, well thought out with everything needed for our stay. So much lighting, very rare in other motels we have stayed in. Linen and towels impeccable. Fantastic shower with plenty of pressure and hot water. Very comfortable bed. those two things very important for a pleasant stay I feel. A well presented book of information on dining and attractions for the tourists. Plenty of eateries close by. Lynne and Mark you are are to be congratulated on your welcoming style and management skills.

Ground Floor and great base to explore Christchurch without being right in the heart of the city. The rooms are dated but they have everything you need, the couple running the place are lovely and helpful people. Nice and clean rooms, fairly large as well and great water pressure and short stroll to either the city in one direction or the shops and restaurants and cafes in the other. Was a great stay and would recommend.

We stayed for three nights while visiting friends in Christchurch. The rates were really affordable and rooms were comfortable with everything we needed. The location is great - across the road from several good restaurants and close to a Westfield. We didn’t end up walking into the city but it wasn’t too far if we had. Owners were very accommodating of our need to check out at 4am to catch an early flight. Only criticism is that the shower curtain was too short which meant the bathroom floor got very wet

It is rare that I take the time to write a review because, well I'm too lazy. But I am inspired to share about the loveliest motel where we've enjoyed staying in early August. Roma on Riccarton is small, tucked along Riccarton just steps from the park and near plenty of good restaurants. Our room is sparkling clean, very roomy and well appointed with king bed, leather loveseat, 3chairs, desk/table, and luggage rack. All in new condition. Lovely, very clean kitchenette tucked in with small fridge microwave ,teapot, French press, toaster, matched (!) set of china and glassware. All looking nearly new. Our room had sliding glass doors opening onto a pretty private patio with table and chairs ( and blooming camellia!). Hosts are warm and welcoming too. Easy parking, great location. An unexpected treasure in the unexpectedly wonderful city of Christchurch.
