Romantica

Hotel Romantica was a wonderful place to stay in Zermatt, and Thor and Michèle are truly what made it so special. Michèle was lovely on the phone when I first checked availability and managed to find us rooms during the very busy New Year period, which we really appreciated. Thor was also wonderful, collecting our luggage from the station, dropping us back at the end of our stay and making everything feel smooth and easy throughout. One of them always seemed to be around, greeting us by name and chatting with us at breakfast and again when we returned from skiing - consistently friendly, helpful and genuinely welcoming. Our two rooms were bright, spacious and spotless, with a great layout and very comfortable beds and pillows. Each room had a balcony with beautiful views over Zermatt, and one even had a fantastic view from the bath, which was a real highlight after skiing. Everything felt very thoughtfully designed, particularly for skiers. Ski storage was easy and practical, and the benches in the main hotel for removing ski boots were such a welcome touch - avoiding the usual miserable ski locker experience. There’s also a cosy bar, which we unfortunately didn’t get the chance to visit this time. The location is excellent - right in the centre of Zermatt and perfectly positioned between all the main lifts, making it easy to walk everywhere. Despite this, the hotel feels tucked away, quiet and peaceful. We had a brilliant stay from start to finish. We’ve stayed in Zermatt many times, but this is definitely our favourite hotel and the one we plan to return to.

We had the most wonderful stay here and truly can’t say enough good things about this hotel and its owners. From the moment we arrived, Thor and Michele went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and informed about our stay and Zermatt. It genuinely felt like we were staying in their home rather than a hotel. We actually got engaged during this trip, and the owners helped create such a special, unforgettable surprise for us at the hotel. The way they treated us felt incredibly personal and thoughtful like we were family, not just guests. On the morning of our departure, we had to leave very early before breakfast started. Without hesitation, Michele went above and beyond and prepared breakfast for us the night before so we could take it with us on our journey home. This turned out to be such a lifesaver when our train was canceled and we were delayed getting to the airport, having that food with us made a stressful situation so much easier. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel itself is adorable and has the perfect romantic cozy vibe, exactly what we were hoping for on this trip. We wholeheartedly recommend staying here and truly hope we get the chance to return in the future. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Hotel Romantica Zermatt 5 Star Review (more if I could) Hotel Romantica in Zermatt offers an exceptional Swiss experience! Hosts Michelle and Thor go above and beyond, making it a perfect centrally located base for exploring the Alps and Matterhorn area! Before my wife and I even arrived in Zermatt, Thor made the reservation process easy and efficient. Thor picked us up at the train station and gave us a quick narrative about things to do and restaurants to visit. From the moment we arrived, Hotel Romantica felt like home but with a breathtaking Swiss backdrop! Thor noticed that my wife was struggling a bit with walking in the altitude so he suggested using some walking sticks and loaned her a pair- –this was a game changer for her! Host Michelle tended breathtaking gardens leading up to the hotel entrance. . . even in October, they were beautiful! The breakfast spread was a highlight as the delicious aroma was apparent as we opened our door in the morning. . . fresh, plentiful, and delicious, offering a wide variety to fuel our adventures. Wrapping up the day with a glass of wine or local beer in the warm and quaint hotel bar capped a day with memories and relaxation! If you are looking for a small, cherished property located within a short walk to the central location of the village, look no further! Hotel Romantica is a must stay for its beautiful ambiance, fantastic service, and stunning balcony views. . . we hope to return!

We spent 5 days here. Super location just a block away from the main street and walking distance to train. Easy walk to Gornergrat bahn up to lifts. Super warm hotel, with a gorgeous view and very friendly and helpful owners. We will come again in the summer

I stayed here for 5 nights for a skiing trip. Place was quiet clean and close to main street restaurant and shops. Hosts were very nice and I would gladly return in the future, as one can hardly ski on all slopes in such a short period.

Our experience here felt like a magical fairy tale! The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, tucked away just a minute from the main road, it has a beautiful flower garden out front. The inside is just beautiful and whimsical. The service here was exceptional. They were able to accommodate an early check in for us. They also provided us with a map of the town, showed us popular trails, checked the weather with us and gave us advice on our itinerary. The hosts are incredibly kind, helpful, warm, and made sure that we had everything we needed. We felt very cared for. The rooms were wonderful as well, with everything we needed. The breakfast was tasty too. We wish we could have stayed here longer! This place is spectacular and was such a treat, highly highly recommend!!! I wish I could give it more stars!

Wonderful three night stay at Hotel Romantica. This place reminded me of a Hansel and Gretel house. It was just a short walk from the main train station. Our room was on the third floor and there was a small elevator. The room was lovely and just perfect for our stay. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. Michelle and Thor were wonderful hosts. They helped us plan our activities and even checked the weather for us. A wonderful breakfast was provided. On our last morning, Michelle was kind enough to invite us to breakfast 15 minutes early. She also drove us to the train station to make sure we made our early train. Great Swiss hospitality. Also, they served the best coffee that I had on my two week vacation.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Thor and Michele are perfect hosts who truly care about their guests. Thor provided us with excellent suggestions for hikes and walks, and Michele directed us to some great restaurants for dinner. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious and varied. We felt right at home and hope to return someday!
