Romantik Hotel Barbarossa

We would strongly recommend this hotel, for food, location, history and service. The dining room is magnificent in subdued lighting, dark oak and mirrors. It's a privilege have dinner in such surroundings. The staff are very helpful. It's a wonderful opportunity to stay in a building in which an Emperor stayed 1000 years ago. We had a junior suite which was very spacious (but no refrigerator: that is something that could be updated). Checkout is 11am but the staff allowed us to stay an extra hour without any charge. That's a nice touch (altho checkout in Swiss hotels is midday). Overall, well worth its 5 stars.

We wholly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic hotel in Konstanz. It's perfectly located in the middle of the old town, so everything from shopping to the lake and many great restaurants are accessible by foot. The superior suite we chose was beautiful, large and with many nice details like the various wallpapers. The bed was very comfy. Getting started with the day was a breeze after having enjoyed the rich breakfast buffet. The staff was very friendly and explained everything clearly. Can recommend 100%!

Room was pretty dark, basic and small, There is no kettle or tea and coffee and the bathroom was small as well. It's a great location however, ideal for the old town and the staff were nice. Didn't have breakfast here as there are loads of places nearby. The Hotel has paid parking about 500 meters away

Stayed at the Hotel Barbarossa for two nights and loved the hotel. They strike a fantastic balance of an old rustic building with up-to-date amenities. They nicely renovated the rooms and offer comfy beds. Breakfast was absolutely stunning with a lot of options and great service. Speaking of service: Staff members are fantastic, very friendly and paying attention to detail. I particularly liked that the owners proudly display the accomplishments of their staff on the wall in the restaurant. If I return to Konstanz, I will stay in this hotel.

I visited the Hotel Barbarossa early October, and I keep a wonderful memory of the place. The hotel is filled with history, old of several centuries for the walls and the pilars of wood, more recent (early XXth century) for the rest. The hotel counts on that, and shows us the story of the place, through the pictures on the walls, the old cupboards, or the stained glass in the restaurant. People working here are more than happy to share the story of the city and the hotel too and the whole staff is really nice. In short, it was very cool. A nice place, very different feeling than other places I have been to recently.

I have stayed here over 3 times in the past, and 2 times in a year and a half. Great location - 8 min walk from train station. In heart of old town Konstanz. Shops, restaurants, except I am totally satisfied with hotel breakfasts and dinners. Great staff, attention to detail, clean rooms and restaurant, and great food at current prices. I believe 4 generations of owners to me sys a lot.

This place is a gem. It is located in a historic building in the heart of a fabulous town. We thoroughly enjoyed the architectural details and art work in the lobby, hallways, shared sitting room, and in our private room. |Our room exceeded exceptions - with a couch and chairs along with a large, comfortable bed. The staff was helpful from check-in to check-out. We highly recommend.

Excellent Hotel and Restaurant in every way. The location is perfect for a stay in Konstanz. Our room was large, clean and with all facilities including chairs and a table. The breakfast and meals in the restaurant were very good and served by attentive, well trained staff. Our stay couldn’t be faulted.
