Romantik Hotel Braunschweiger Hof

Staff and (99% elderly) guests came across as a bit racist, sorry to say. We are a mixed race family, and despite several free tables outside, "everything was fully reserved" on a Tuesday night. Seemed like they wanted to keep the old people occupying a majority of the tables outside "happy". Something seemed off, and we didn't feel fully welcome. We had a few drinks, and then decided to have dinner some place else.

Excellent 5 night stay. Breakfast is extensive and dinner in the restaurant has very high quality menu/drinks choices with impeccable service from attentive staff. Thoroughly recommend their venison main dish!!

Great small hotel in a cute little town. Fantastic service from nice people. We had booked a suite and stayed in a fantastic room. We would definitely come back if we pass by again.

We stayed at the Braunschweigerhof in Bad Harzburg for a few days over New Year 2024-25. We were made most welcome. The rooms were modern , very comfortable and immaculately clean. There was a very nice traditional ambience in the public areas and restaurant. The staff were all charming and helpful, and the food was delicious. I would particularly compliment the restaurant staff. In the heart of Bad Harzburg, we found this an excellent place from which to wander round the town, and also to explore the region. There is a lot to see and do in the Harz region so we hope to be back to explore further, and will certainly stay here.

We spent five very enjoyable nights here, and did not want to leave. Not cheap, but excellent value for money, you could not expect more. Tasteful throughout, from the reception area to all bedrooms, can't fault it. Everything works, as is usually the case in Germany! Very pretty gardens, and terrace dining. Breakfast is exceptional, everything you could wish for and beautifully presented. Tea and coffee served to you at your table by smiling staff - all very nice. The restaurant is of similar standard, our five dinners were all equally delicious. Drinks at the bar are a bit pricey, and my only criticism of this hotel is that they allow smoking in the bar, and a section of the restaurant. Very unusual and unwelcome for non-smokers in this day and age. But, a wonderful hotel in a pretty spa town, a good base for visiting the many charming towns and villages in the area. Delightful!

I have stayed here several times, and each time it seems better than the last. The attention to detail is first-class, in the furnishngs, the rable settings, the bathrooms, and also with the staff. They are incredibly effcient and responsive, and take pride in their work. This must all stem from the owners who lead by example. I love the breakfasts, they are awesome, and tea and coffee are still served to you in beautiful silver pots rather than helping yourself from a machine. Dinners are quite imaginative and creatively presented, often featuring local venison. I can’t fault this hotel, it is worth visiting Bad Harzburg just to stay there. Excellent in every sense!

We actually stayed at the apartment (Ferienwohnung) that is just down the street from the hotel and it was perfect for us with a baby! It was clean, very spacious, great price and it had everything you can think of! We were able to use the pool and spa and all other amenities of the hotel as well free of charge! The only additional cost is the breakfast that is high quality with a very superb service. I just wish they would have changed the breakfast buffet up a little bit as we stayed for 5 days and tried everything! The owners of the hotel are very friendly and professional. I loved seeing the family photos on the wall- amazing how this hotel remained in the same family over so many generations! ||Two of our friends had a room in the hotel itself and were happy with everything but they mentioned that the walls were thin, so they could hear people next to them talk and they wished the spa area would have had a hot tub.||Bad Harzburg is very quiet itself. Lots of shops & restaurants that you can walk to but we had to drive everywhere else to explore the Harz region a little bit more (Goslar, Wernigerode). ||All in all, I would recommend this for a quiet, relaxed vacation and if you get lucky with the weather, the views are stunning! We hope to return during the winter one day.|
