GEBHARDS HOTEL

The first time I was at this hotel with some sort of awareness was in the late 1970s when my aunt got married, and then countless family festivities followed throughout the years. Birthdays, more weddings, funerals, reunions, random get-togethers, so, yes, I'm biased when rating this hotel. Double so, because even without any personal connection I prefer owner-managed places, be they a hotel, a restaurant, a bar, over business ideas of a group. I found the staff extremely nice and competent, the rooms nostalgic and the breakfast sufficient (but I'm not a breakfast guy, so don't count on me for recommending or dissing places). Now the obvious issue is the current lack of a restaurant, but they're apparently working on it, and once

Sweet, very old fashioned hotel in a great location (even if Göttingen itself wasn't really worth the visit). The rooms are clean and quiet, the beds large and comfortable and the room we had, had lots of space. Two small complaints. The bathroom we had, had no outside windows and the fan in the ceiling was less than useful, and we had trouble getting rid of the odours. The other thing is that breakfast seemed a bit stingy and when we asked if it were possible for the buffet's scrambled eggs to be refilled, it almost felt as if we were making an unreasonable request. Nonetheless, all in all a very pleasant stay.

The rooms was a little small, and overlooked the road, which was noisy. Breakfast was limited. But overall, not a bad place.

A very nice experience at Romantik Hotel. The receptionist was nice, and all the furnishings were very clean. I enjoyed the room very much. The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast. The only hot food I got was eggs; I was expecting some hot sausages.

Reaching a 5 - 7 min walk from the main station, the hotel is very conveninent for both city sightseeing and access to the station. The room is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet is basic but freshly prepared. The hotel also has a classic German-style restaurant where I enjoyed the meal very much. Definitely, I will stay there next year again for the famous Handel Festival.

Let yourself be drawn back in time in this beautifully renovated hotel. There is a closed off parking lot at the back and the hotel is set within a few minutes from the town centre. We reserved a standard room which offers everything one needs. There was a fresh rose placed in the bathroom, a gift of chocolates and a bottle of water. The rooms were a mix of modern and antique furniture. The wooden floors polished, the rooms were clean. The mattresses seemed a bit springy and soft, but we could sleep very well, so that was not an issue. Outside at the end of the corridor there was a lovely sitting area.We had dinner outside. The menu even offered a typical Swiss dish of Zürich Geschetzeltes with Rösti which my husband decided to try - we gave it top marks! The salad was crispy and dressed in a very tasty salad sauce. The selection of wine was very good, too. Breakfast, which was included offered something for everybody's taste. All the staff were competent, very helpful and kind. A pleasant stay indeed.

This hotel has a lot of style and is 7 minutes walk from the station. Our room was traditional and spacious (room 256) high ceilings and classical furnishing apart from the bathroom which was space age, The bed was very comfortable and touches like water supplied and fresh flowers thoughtful. Breakfast was just right and one sensed that the hotel avoided waste. In the mornings the staff open the doors to all the vacant rooms so they can be viewed, a sensible piece of marketing. We had some time before our train and sat and enjoyed a coffee on the veranda. This was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our time in Germany.

We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station even with luggage, since it is right across the street. The hotel was quiet, the room was spacious, and service was friendly. We came down late for breakfast and inquired about where to eat in town, only to find that they had held breakfast for us. On a four-hotel trip through Germany this was our least favorite, but that is because the other three were big city luxury hotels. For Gottingen this probably is the best option. It's also right on the edge of the downtown mix.
