Romantik Hotel Landhaus Bärenmühle (Frankenau, Hesse) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Like a scene from a storybook, a quaint country house sits prettily in a clearing in the forest, its half-timbered facade and steeply gabled red roof reflected on the still surface of a pond. Romantik Hotel Landhaus Bärenmühle is the kind of place you won’t find without a map: the 16th-century mill estate, now a luxury hotel, is surrounded by meadows, woods, and streams on the edge of Germany’s Kellerwald-Edersee National Park." - Tablet Hotels

Let's start with the positives....the chef is amazing the evening meal was excellent. Beds and bedding good although another pillow would've been nice. Now the other stuff.....took us a while to find property as satnav and phone reception not good, decent signage to help guest to property would be nice after a long drive. Very disappointed to not be warned of major building works ongoing with crane as your first view of a lovely old property. Room good size, dated decor and curtains, bath tap fill not working so had to place shower head to fill bath. No socket in bathroom near mirror to dry hair have to use extension lead in bathroom. No milk for tea making facilities, fridge turned off! A bit mean with breakfast. Dinner bed and breakfast with a small number of drinks 330 euro. Very expensive

We had a wonderful evening with dinner outside after a warm welcome. The next day there was an opportunity to go to a wonderfull quit large appartement nearby. As we traveled wit my dog we took the opportunity. It was quiet and for breakfast or dinner we could go to the restaurant. ||A wonderful place to be!

I discovered this hotel as I was asked to photograph a 50th wedding anniversary celebration which took place here. There were about 35 guests and we had the little hotel to ourselves. The entire two days were dedicated to our party and the staff did a marvellous job. I stayed in the Goethe room in the main house. It was very cozy and the mattresses were extremely comfortable. (I heard from others as well!) ||The hotel dates back hundreds of years and the owners are informed about the history of the original mill as well as the surrounding area. We went on a torchlight walk in the late afternoon (it was already dark), and our guide filled us in on more history of the mill and neighbouring villages. They will hold lectures informing you all about it. We were truly in the middle of nowhere. As mentioned in another review check your navigation system for the correct road. We were taken there by bus and also ended up on the gravel forest road. The driver was a genius but I'm sure he wasn't amused.||The cuisine was outstanding. I can truly recommend this hotel for special occasions or a simple get away ... because you will certainly be away from the maddening crowd!

It was a really nice looking and quiet place. Everything was littlebit sleepy, but reachable.||There are not many people working so that its necessary sometimes to search for staff but thats not a problem.||Comofortable parking near entrance. ||Good place to calm down but somehow I had the impression theres a lack of time or lust to furnish the rooms with some more accuracy and love. ||The room should by all means be warm and inviting, but the heaters where all switched off when we arrived.||Not only in the rooms.||I mean when the Hotel offers romantic lakeview and bathing and sauna, first of all there should be first a shower in the sauna thats tube is not damaged, further the hotel could exclusively offer some oils and aromafluids for the sauna and further if you offer a lake inviting for a bath after the sauna there should be at least some little light to find the way therealso in the dark.||The breakfast was ok but the diner was amazingly good.||The wines where much too expensive.||||These are only little details of a round about very comfortable weekend!

The Hotel is located quite remote - the next village is ca. 2km away, next small town 10km; to Kassel it is ca. 1 hour drive. It is very quiet and situated at the edge of a protected enviroment area, with a lot of hiking and biking possibilities around. If you want to go swimming be aware that it is only possible in a small lake - you will probably want to do this in summer only. Staff was always helpful and friendly. Around Easter the hotel was a little bit crowded during dinner time, but still acceptable.

Unfortunately our experience at the hotel was very disappointing. There was no room service for the whole 3 days of staying (not even vacuuming on the floor), apparently due to COVID restrictions (whereas in the hotel we have been just the days before every service was performed normally). No towel was changed either. The room we were given was not worth the price and the breakfast wasn't anything special too, many products were sponsored as homemade but were clearly from the supermarket. The first evening we were invited to stay for dinner but we weren't told that the only option was to take a menu for 42 euro/person + drinks...we should have been told that in advance. The staff was friendly and it was a great pleasure to meet Ms Kohl who has done so much in her career as a journalist. However, half of the price would have been fair for what we actually got at this hotel.

Beware the sat nav will take you down an unmade gravel track to the hotel...we found this out to our cost ! We had a bedroom with a bed against a wall so one would have to climb over the other to get in and out ! We changed rooms. This is a fine dining venue,,,it is isolated, but quaint and charming. I suspect there will be lots of insects about in summer as the opening windows have mesh over them. We had a spacious junior suite.

While the service in the evening was excellent, the service for breakfast was rather moderate. The cleanliness of the rooms could be better.||The location and in particular the pond in which you can swimm (water rather chilly) is unique!
