Romantik Hotel Muottas Muragl

The rooms are small but the views are grand. The furnicular is very cool. Amazing walking trails at the top with panoramic views at every corner. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to miss the breakfast as we had to leave early and they packed us a meal to go. Furnicular staff helped us to figure out transportation in St. Moritz.

We stayed for 1 night as we were passing through ST. Moritz and we couldn't have planned it better, in between 2 heavy snow falls. The view is incredible and between walks and surrounding areas, this is as quiet and as peaceful it can get. Food at the panoramic restaurant was exactly what you expect from such places. Everything remarkable. Thanks to the staff and also the funicular people who always helped the best they can.

I arrived on 14 February 2026 intending to stay at this property and discuss a prior reservation matter in person. Upon arrival, I was informed that if I did not board the next departing funicular within approximately four minutes, police would be contacted. I was ultimately instructed to leave the premises. The accommodation charge was refunded. However, I incurred 1,160.67 CHF in documented additional expenses due to securing alternative arrangements on short notice. This review is not about cancellation policy. It is about proportionality of escalation and guest handling. Access to the hotel is exclusively via funicular with restricted operating hours. Future guests should plan logistics carefully. I leave this review as a factual account of my experience.

Romantic mountain retreat, high above the Upper Engadin valley. Fabulous views & sunsets. Lovely breakfast and superb dinner with views of St. Moritz, lakes and mountain peaks. Only accessible by (included) funicular railway.

Muottas Muragl is an extraordanary place to visit and stay! We had a nice room with a lot of wooden furnitures and modern bathroom. Exciting was our dinner with view into the Engadin valley and St. Moritz during sunset. After a calm night we experienced a fantastic breakfast with delicious food and again a dream of a view into the mountains.|The staff was very friendly and helpful. The best thing was that the ticket of the cable car was included in our room price. We'll recommend this place.

It was very romantic. Staff amazing. Me personally like the pillows a bit harder, but overall an amazing stay

The room was gorgeous, well designed (especially the tub next to the window:) ). Front desk staff was extra kind and helpful, figuring out a multi-transfer train journey for us (and writing it out in beautiful script). Trails from the door, balcony views for the evening.

Must see in the list ! Soft shiny snow covered alpine peaks , beautiful sitting areas, can do some hiking on the mountain tip, go early by 111 to relax during sun

We were fortunate enough to book a 1 night stay here during our time in St. Moritz. It happened to be their last night open for the winter season. :) The views from their terrace are fabulous and breathtaking... you can't find this anywhere else. So glad we came and took the funicular ride up to this hill for the hotel stay. Their cafe restaurant is stocked with warm meals for those cold days and people are very friendly. While our room was small, it was cozy and warm.

If you're looking for a change of scenery, look no further--this place has it all! I stayed here 1 night for my bday. And although it was quite the distance (~5hr travel time) from Milano, it was certainly worth it. The Bernina Express (from Tirano) was the most FUN & SCENIC train ride EVER. The 10 minute fernicular ride from Muottas Talstation up to Muottas Muragl was SPLENDID. And don't get me started on the KILLER VIEWS from the hotel. I was upgraded to the Bellavista w/ rooftop terrace. Absolutely BREATHTAKING. [Thank you for featuring some of my photos!] There are several hiking trails around the hotel, as well as a very nice playground for your children. I had dinner at the panoramic restaurant, which was somewhat pricey but well worth the splurge. Then had an AMAZING BREAKFAST BUFFET the following morning, which is included in your room rate. If you stay 1 night, you get free unlimited fernicular rides with your room card. If you stay more than 1 night, you also get free rides on the bus/train to explore neighboring towns, like Pontresina, St. Moritz, etc. Thank you for the WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! :)

Worth the trip and price! Amazing views and pretty good food. A little salty for my tastes but the rabbit peregrine was tasty as was the veal which was so tender. Took me a while to finish the 3 course dinner as it was a large portion. Service spot on too.

An amazing hotel for hikers. Depending on the season, there are days worth of hiking out of this location. I was only there two nights but spent one entire day walking all over the alps overlooking Pontresina and St Moritz. I regret not being more prepared to take advantage of the area. Also, like many of the hotels in the area, your room key is also your bus pass, train pass, lift-pass (perhaps summer only?) and funicular pass, so don't be shy about getting out into the public transit. It's a very nice hotel, for special trips, and not inexpensive, so do your homework on the area and come prepared to make the most of it. If you're not coming for a special occasion, there are probably better deals to be found in St Moritz or Pontresina.

Fantastic view and perfect place to relaxe after some hiking in the area. The food was very good too and authentic Swiss, it was so good, we had lunch, did some walking around and then returned for some coffee and cake. Amazing, how beautiful the Swiss alps are, and you can enjoy all that on the patio. They even have windscreens, when it is a bit windy up there.

Fantastic views, lovely hikes, excellent staff and delicious food. We had a lovely time!
