My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Schweizerhof for two weeks early in September. This was a special holiday celebrating my retirement earlier this year and a return to a wonderful part of Switzerland we last visited more than 30 years ago. The hotel was everything we had hoped for and more! Situated near the main station it made a perfect base for us to travel around the area. We took a south facing room with balcony looking across to the Eiger and the Mannlichen which was just perfect, as was the rest of our room. We were on a half-board booking which included a large buffet breakfast and superb evening dining served by friendly and very helpful staff. Our package also provided packed lunches and afternoon tea when we needed them. All the staff looked after us exceptionally well – nothing was too much for them and we had some lovely conversations and enjoyed their wine and beer recommendations and a superb cheese fondue. The Chambermaids kept our room neat and tidy, even carefully folding and presenting our nightwear for when we returned! The garden is also a great asset which we enjoyed on several afternoons, sitting under a parasol enjoying a coffee and just relaxing. We would definitely return here, perhaps in winter to enjoy the skiing season. Thank you for a wonderful two weeks.

The hotel is very clean and attractive. The staff seem to be solely dedicated to ensure you have a good time. The restaurant is really good. The waitress knew her wines and suggested the proper wine for the venison. I have one more night to go here, but I just had to write the review right now. The hotel has a history to it but unlike a lot of historical hotels it does not look old and shabby. I guarantee you will enjoy your stay here.

Be aware that the hotel's swimming pool is closed until December 8th 2025. The hotel's own website has buried this information, three levels deep. Apparently, they are happy to give you vouchers to use the main swimming pool in the nearby Sports Centre, if you want to. It's a nice enough hotel, but there are much nicer (and more affordable) hotels nearby, and would opt for Dorint Blüemlisalp any day over this place.

The food for whole stay has been extraordinary!! Compliments to chefs ! |Breakfast selection great. Packed lunches every day and WOW to the 7 evening meals produced for our party of 30. I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. I was made to feel so welcome by all of the wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My room, which looked straight out to the mountains, was spacious and spotlessly clean and the bed couldn’t have been more comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing and there was a huge variety of food. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is a very short walk from the train station. I felt very at home there and will definitely stay there again.

Grindelwald is as perfect a swiss picture can get. You sit in a hotel with the most incredibile view of mountains and green pastures in front of you which you never get tired of watching and hiking during the day. |This was our third visit and every time we explored new areas and villages. |This time we chose this nice 5 star hotel in Swiss chalet style. |It consists of an original building and a newer expansion in a more modern chalet style separate connected building. Everything of high quality and furnished with good taste in a rather contemporary Swiss way. A small garden in front of the hotel makes a nice place for breakfast and dinner. |Buffet breakfast is very good. Dinner in the restaurant is ok. WIFI works very well. |We had a Eiger view suite with balcony and very generous in size. |The spa and indoor heated swimming pool is very nice. |The hotel is on walking distance from the train station which is very practical. Staff is kind and well trained. |My only critic would be they have no AC. Summers are hot and AC in a rated 5 star hotel is a must. |Last time we lodged at the nearby other 5 star hotel of the town : the Belvedere, and they have AC.

With my boyfriend we had dinner at this place. Besides delicious 3 course dinner we enjoyed excellent wine. The selection of food and wine was truly extensive, so everyone is sure to find something they like. The meat is locally sourced, which we greatly appreciated, as well as the freshness of the ingredients. The beautiful surroundings created a romantic atmosphere, and the extremely helpful staff made the whole experience even more pleasant. We will definitely be happy to return here and recommend it to everyone.

This hotel is most definitely not a five star hotel. The Jacuzzi and swimming pool were closed. I can’t remember the last time I saw carpeted baseboards. There is no air conditioning and the rooms are very hot. I guess the only bonus was when I got back to my room with open windows. I had a very cute cat sitting on my bed. My recommendation would be to stay elsewhere. I would give this a three star.
