During our recent visit, we had the pleasure of witnessing the breathtaking cherry blossoms in full bloom, which made the experience truly magical. The park’s serene atmosphere, combined with its stunning seasonal beauty, creates an ideal escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Adding to its appeal, the surrounding area boasts a fantastic selection of restaurants, making it a great spot to enjoy a delicious meal before or after exploring this lovely urban oasis. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a stunning photo backdrop, or a delightful dining experience, this hidden gem has it all!

Nice and small park in uptown area. You can have your lunch. Dog friendly. You may see live music as well. No free parking.

Google
It's such a spacious park. I love that it has a huge grassy area right beside the Knights Stadium. You can have a picnic there. People sometimes are out playing with their dogs or just great fun watching the game from the sidelines. They have nice flowers and garden all around the park. They have a waterfall with colorful lights in the background where the kids usually love to run around and play. Just a great spot to be in, if you want to be in the city but away from the hussle and bustle of the restaurants nearby. Of course, it's in uptown, so parking is non-existent unless you are lucky enough to snag a side street parking.

Google
Green area within the uptown, an oasis inside the urban area. Pretty nice, there's a lot of people enjoying the park, the cascade fountain it's an attraction for kids. A city's sightseeing.

Google
Cool small park for a quick walk and a super cool instagram photo spot. We visited this time to watch the cheery blossoms. And it was wonderful. With great restaurant options around the park as well.

Google
This was the first time at this park. It was really nice not a lot of parking though. I went on a day they had a free lunch concert. They have spots for sitting, picnic tables, basketball, pickle ball/ tennis areas and walking trails.

Vincent Tripi

Google
New to the Charlotte area and found this park downtown. First thoughts are it’s very nice with a lot of walking room and seating areas. Only complaint would be homeless people in the bathroom smoking weed when I tried using it. Felt very uncomfortable.

Damian Wilson

Google
Good park with an enjoyable game against the Memphis Redbirds. Food selections are good not great, but plenty of choices, good vibes, and entertaining. Baseball is always better in person!

Tyler L.

Yelp
This is a very clean and modern park in the downtown of Charlotte. I especially liked the very nice looking waterfall section in the middle of it. However, being on the smaller side, it is a bit of a boring park with no activities, no playground and no sports facilities to partake in. Instead, it is basically made up of two large open spaces that are just for sitting around or walking your dog.

Jasmine W.

Yelp
Peaceful park in uptown - no playground, bathroom with limited hours, wouldn't drive out of your way but it's a nice green space in the city

Katy C.

Yelp
Nate and I walked through this park while stranded in Charlotte due to some flights affected by weather. I'm glad we chose to wander through, because it was really beautiful. The flowers were blooming and it was a wonderful sunny day. There's a big fountain, a shiny sculpture, and we enjoyed a musician who brought his whole drum kit to the park. The views are great - you can see lots of tall buildings and those cherry blossoms were so pretty. If I lived in this area, I'd try to visit this park all the time. I think it would be a great spot to hang out, relax, and get some sunshine! It seems to be pretty centrally located with lots around.

John B.

Yelp
This was a big open space with fountains, a lot of fancy bushes, and a lot of skaters despite the lack of any particular skate park. There were no real facilities and not a ton to do, but it was nice aesthetically. There wasn't a whole lot else in the way of facilities. It does adjoin the sports stadiums, making it a good meeting place.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
Sundays are typically our walk in the park days, and this is definitely our go-to park. Our family loves to walk around uptown when we just want to get out of the house, which usually always leads us to this park. We love it as it has the waterfall wall where during the summer the kids will usually run in there to splash around. There is a little upper level behind the waterfall where there is a smaller open field and a gazebo type space with tables and chairs. A lot of people use that area to sit and eat if they don't want to sit in the grass, especially during lunchtime during the week. The lower level has the big open field where lots of people will use that space and picnic. Animals are welcomed, so a lot of dogs are seen on leashes at this park. During the nice spring and cool weather, this is a HIT! Simple free activity to do and enjoy the outside weather. It's located beside the Baseball stadium, so if you're going to one of the knights game, you can always grab a quick lunch or dinner beforehand and enjoy it at the park before you attend a game Definitely a go-to activity for our family. Obviously, parking is always a hassle unless you snag a side street parking. If not, you may have to park in a parking lot or deck and just walk to the park.

Yelp
Bottom Line: A nice city park that has wide appeal. Romare Bearden Park is over five acres of green space in Charlotte's Uptown area. As a gardener I really enjoyed walking through this park in March and again in May. In March it was cold and the park was mostly abandoned except a few dog walkers but I still saw lots of beauty in the space, the layout and the early bloomers like hellebores. On a warm day in May Romare Bearden was hopping! There were families with their toddlers meandering about, some lovely ladies getting Prom photos, some teenage guys hanging with Mary Jane, joggers passing through and of course dog walkers. Instead of being one large sprawling space the park is broken up into various rooms per se which makes exploration fun. The waterfall area seems very popular but I was mesmerized by some enormous hostas (Empress Wu perhaps?) and various other perennials making their debut for the season.

Yelp
I've been to Romare Bearden on many occasions and every time it's always like I'm visiting for the first time. This perfectly situated park in uptown Charlotte is always clean and well maintained. There's plenty of open space for one person, family or an entire group to enjoy. As others have said, this is a perfect place for picnics, walking your dog, people watching and taking pictures of the Charlotte skyline. You are also in close walking distance to BB&T baseball park and there is plenty of parking spaces available. This park really represents Charlotte well with the community atmosphere, many activities to do on your own and overall friendliness of the visitors. You'll definitely want to stop by and recharge yourself if you get the chance. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Basic park. Nice greenery. Waterfall element. Near the stadium. Had a mix of characters hanging out at different corners of the park. Maybe worth stopping by if nearby or walking through to save some time if on food, but I can't say it's anything worth going out of my way to see otherwise.

Dani N.

Yelp
The best little city park in Uptown. After getting coffee and going on a little exploration around town I could not, for the life of me, find my car. Somehow I stumbled upon this adorable park and it was the greatest accidental happening of my day. It has the best views of the city (that I could find), it's well kept, has a beautiful fountain, garden, statues, and safe environment. During the holidays they decorate the park all festive, they've done 9/11 remembrance exhibits, live music in the park, market events and so on. It's a beautiful area to walk your dogs though there are no closed in regions for them to run off leash. Though there were a few homeless around the area I would not call it an unsafe area and would even say it's nice spot for a family picnic. This park is my favorite view of the city thus far. If I worked in the area I would come eat lunch here everyday just to see the pups and enjoy the view. It's free entry with tons of cheap street parking nearby. Check it out.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Romare Bearden is really an awesome park! It's the perfect park for a picnic, to just hang out and see the sights/people watch. During the summer, there are also a ton of festivals and concerts that are held here. Has a water fall/fountain area. In the summer, parents bring their kids here to play in the water and have a blast! At times, also an ice cream vendor located in the booth during the summer. Street parking and garage parking are available around the area. Walking or scooter is a great option!

Victoria B.

Yelp
Love this park. It has amazing views of the city and there are often different festivals that take place here. There's a waterfall and plenty of gorgeous flowers and plants to take it. Definitely a spot where ppl take a lot of pictures.

James E.

Yelp
Nice park for jogging or spending a nice afternoon walking your dog. Parking can be slightly difficult but there are parking lots that you can pay and park nearby.

Yelp
Wow what an unexpected pleasant surprise Romare Bearden Park turned out to be. I was in Charlotte visiting and exploring for the weekend and randomly came across this park! I was actually going to the Charlotte Knights Minor League Baseball game at BB&T Stadium across the street and while waiting for the doors to open to go inside for the game, I noticed how pretty the skyline of Charlotte was from this area. That's what won me over about Romare Bearden. The views of the skyscrapers and towers of Charlotte from here were beautiful! I never knew or researched prior to visiting that Charlotte had any type of skyline worthwhile of observing. Yeah....so from this park, situated right at the edge of the outer limits of Charlotte, the scenery and setting is wonderful. Besides having grass and lots of room to sit down and have a picnic, Romare Bearden also has fountains and plenty of area to walk around. I happened to be here in late afternoon last month and the sun glistening against the buildings made for a serene backdrop. Although I didn't have a blanket to lay down on the grass, I still sat and appreciated the ambiance. If anyone cares to lounge, you can certainly take a nap it's that peaceful. There weren't too many people hanging out for a springtime Saturday. I was genuinely impressed with the park. If I weren't heading to the baseball game, I could have stayed longer it was that soothing! Interestingly, there was a wedding taking place while I was there and a portion of the park was blocked off for wedding pictures and the ceremony. So you can understand how charming this place is if weddings are being held here. Yeah, Romare Bearden Park was one of the many great highlights I had while visiting Charlotte. It was certainly a fantastic revelation finding this place and soaking up the views all the while grabbing some really photogenic pictures. For anyone new to Charlotte or casually wandering around the city, I highly recommend stopping by and hanging out here!

Ayna G.

Yelp
Downtown was clean pet friendly and you able to see a-lot cats and dogs in the park and I would say nice view Also Parking its $8 for 12 hours you can park on street if you lucky to find parking space

Shay J.

Yelp
I love Romare Bearden Park! There's always something fun and exciting for the entire family. From live music to fitness and cultural arts programs this park is a great addition to uptown. The water fountain is a big attraction, the illuminated lights are great for skyline pictures in the evening. During the summer you'll see children playing in the water. The main website features weekly events. Don't forget to bring your fur friends!

Diwash B.

Yelp
A very good spot to soak some sun and enjoy picnic with family or just go on a 1st date. We went for some photoshoot to get some of the charlotte skyline backdrop which was amazing. The park is good to enjoy some cherry blossom during spring. Its near to BOA stadium, also the french quarters are near by for lunch or dine in. They also have artificial waterfalls which is a perfect place to get some bridal shoots or maternity shoot. They donot require any permit at this time for photoshoots. I found this place perfect for photoshoots but lots of skaters on the park so hope for their cooperation lol. The restrooms are clean, the park is well maintained and the people bring an amazing vibe to be there in a nice sunny day or an evening chillax.

Suzanne A.

Yelp
A small park in uptown Charlotte adjacent to the knights ballpark. It's a well groomed and manicured Park where you could comfortably grab a blanket and hang out on the green lawns. There are walkways that take you from end to end. Towards the middle of the park you will hear and find the calming sounds of the waterfall that runs year round. While a small park and not a park that has a playground or basketball court it is a wonderful 5 acre park in the city where the public can just hang out and relax out in the southern sun. Enjoy!

Robert V.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed this park. A prime location in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. The waterfall is so beautiful especially at night! The view of the city skyline from the center of the park is intriguing! This is definitely a cool spot to take pictures! I was here for a concert which tells you the versatility of this park! Near plenty of restaurants so grabbing food and laying on the grass is a must!! Next door to the ball park which makes the deal even sweeter! Please check this park out if you are ever in Uptown Charlotte!!

Bruce K.

Yelp
What an amazing park in Uptown Charlotte. Big flat grassy areas, a huge fountain, lots of trees and shade, super awesome view of the Charlotte skyline. I've been here and seen yoga and fit classes going on, I've seen kids throwing frisbees and dogs playing fetch. It's a big grassy space and it's absolutely lovely! The park is named after Romare Bearden, an artist who was born nearby and then moved to New York where he spent most of his adult life. All sorts of art, from painting to jazz. Enjoy Sea Breeze, https://youtu.be/Btcm7ErsEmg. I've seen his art here and there, but will be looking out for more of it going forward. Enjoy the park!

Solita J.

Yelp
My favorite park to have a picnic. Come on a Friday evening during baseball season and enjoy the fireworks! If you have dinner in uptown take a walk through the park, it's nice and a great view. There are plenty of restaurants and bars near by.

Susanne H.

Yelp
So we love this park, for the most part. It was so nice to come back to the hotel, walk over to it, and just relax. It was nice to see al the families and couples out all over. The park for the most part was clean. It had areas to take plenty of photos at. It is dimly lit by the ballpark led tv which is nice. What I will recommend is stay away from where the 7-11 is. There is way too many bums that hang out in that area and it is very dark with little light. That area of the park I definitely did not feel safe in at all. The rest of the park was gorgeous though.

Clint B.

Yelp
I love this park! It's very close to my office uptown, it's great to walk to if you work in the city and also if your visiting uptown, a relaxing green space to take a break from walking. It's very well maintained and I have never felt unsafe there. There is a ton of restaurants that are all walkable to and from this park. There is a cool water feature wall with LED lights there and has a great view of the Charlotte skyline for some great photos. Highly recommend if you're in Uptown.

Allyson R.

Yelp
So ashamed to same that I was born and raised in Charlotte but had never been to Romare Bearden Park until this past weekend. I booked a photoshoot and the photographer picked the location. Initially, I was concerned about parking, but I had no issues parking in a deck directly across the street. There were so many great spots to shoot. My favorite was the steps that gave you an amazing view of the skyline. I had to do an outfit change and was glad to see that there was a bathroom that was well-maintained. Bonus points because it was heated and the temperature was around freezing that day. I can't wait to see the completed photos, I'm sure the location made for some excellent shots!

Timmy J.

Yelp
One of the most popular parks in the city and is in close proximity of some of the biggest venues too. Plenty of green space to enjoy a picnic or just to even throw a football around. Don't forget some of the best views of the buildings in the city are close by. There is that really large fountain wall you've probably seen it in all the videos featuring Charlotte, and on a really hot day why not cool down by soaking your self. Many events are taken place here, Summers to Early fall have the music in the parks, Fireworks on of course the major holidays. A definite must to come visit when you're in town.

Emily M.

Yelp
Very clean and nice view! Not your typical children's park but would be a great place to walk your dog!

Tia T.

Yelp
We always come here in the spring and summer for picnics. Always a nice vibe with plenty of space. They have fireworks some times. We love it.

Leila R.

Yelp
Little park right smack in the middle if the action uptown. Gorgeous views of the BoA tower and at night is the time to go when it is al lit up and the uptown skyline glitters. Lots of people walking and playing w-their dogs, and laying on the grass. Even at night, the park felt very safe, as did that part of uptown. Also, park was extremely clean w/some of the cleanest restrooms I have ever seem in a city park!

Shirl S.

Yelp
Nice park, not so great first impression. My first visit was a bit of a shocker because this park was littered with hobos. I strolled in with my family and was greeted by the sight of what appeared to be 2 hobos sitting on the ground handcuffed and surrounded by 6 police officers. As unsettling as that situation was, the 2 people in custody were screaming expletives at the top of their lungs. We found a spot all the way in the corner of the park at the opposite end of the obscenities and could still hear it. Well about the park. Its nice but lacks trees. The waterfall is awesome and there is a splash pad for children which is great. We walked around and there were homeless people sitting on the benches in every corner of the park. This is not the place to come if you want to go for a jog or want to take in scenery. It's more for the folks who live in the apartments in the area. And apperantly for homeless population in uptown Charlotte.

Nicholas L.

Yelp
It's a beautifully park. But the shame is the ghetto comes here and ruins it for everyone. If you see trash and smell weed and cigs over here (especially at night) well it just seems to be the thing to do around here. Which is to be trash, nasty and smoke your life away at this park which is on the middle of downtown. Could be way better though. At night it's a zero star. During the night it's a solid ZERO. . During the day it a 3. Cause it's so pretty but it's the people who ruin it.

David H.

Yelp
This is a relatively new park (a bit is still under construction and the grass is still establishing itself). Fairly large open space with lots of grass. Currently the grass is roped off and looks pretty new so once that is over with then it will be nice to sit on. There is a waterfall type fountain which is open for people to walk through. A bit chilly for it in the fall but I predict it will be a hit in the summertime. It's across the street from the baseball park so it's possible to grab some food and eat before a game if you can get a spot. There is a section at the opposite end of the park with tables and a concession kiosk. Not sure what they will be selling but it looks like a good place to sit and people watch. The day I was there had lots of people wandering and sitting around chilling out. Give this newer park a try.

Jane L.

Yelp
Was here for their Fit in 15 exercise class Saturday Morning. Only two more weeks before they finish the this program which is run by Mecklenburg Co. Hope they have these programs in 2016. The Tabata instructor was so gracious to conduct the Rise and Flow Yoga class, after there was no instructor available when he finished his class earlier. Hope these class will continue till the end of the year since it is much cooler now and the weather is not so hot and humid. This park is clean and well maintained. Lots of other events happening here throughout the week that I will definitely check out. Great opportunity to take photographs of the City of Charlotte. Perfect backdrop.

Ayana S.

Yelp
Such a nice little park in the city! It feels nice to have a calm place to relax in a very busy and congested area. There were beautiful flowers and even a small dog area. There's a good amount of seating options and places to have lunch, meet ups, or just even alone time. I saw a little icecream shop in the center but didn't get to try it out although it sounded good. The water areas would be fun for little kids to run under and cool off. Definitely a nice park with a gorgeous view.

Barney C.

Yelp
Great public space in the heart of Uptown. If you're looking for a great shot of the Uptown skyline, this is a great spot for it - you'll usually see professional photos being taken here. The waterfall feature lights up at night and there's some other kid friendly features in the warmer months. The field serves as a venue for a variety of events like 5K charity runs and live music. Watch your step though because some dog owners don't pick up after their pooches.

Tien D.

Yelp
This is a pretty cute looking park. It is pretty small, but there are benches around so that you can lounge around and stare at the tall city buildings. There is plenty of shade and some grass to roam around on. There were just a few kids running around when I visited and plenty of bench seating even on a warm afternoon. The park looked quite clean as well, which is a plus!

Ellyse L.

Yelp
One of the nicest spots to get a direct cityscape shot of Charlotte. The park is beautifully structured and landscaped with an open field, interactive structures, a water fountain/fall, and blooming cherry blossom trees lining a pathway. It was worth a short stroll from around Uptown on a cloudy day.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Beautiful park in the middle of the city. It's so fun to come here on a warm day with a blanket and just sit in the field and read a book or listen to music. There a few pathways to walk around the park and they show you some pretty foliage that has been planted. They even have some community garden items such as herbs! Very cool! In the summer when it's really hot children run through the fountain water - which is really neat. The fountain changes colors by pressing on these nearby pedals. I love all the pagodas and seating that the park provides. It's also really nice to get a to go meal from one of the local establishments nearby (mellow mushroom, bgood, rhino market ...) and enjoy it in the park. So lucky to have something so peaceful in the middle of the bustling city.

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
This park was a great addition to uptown. It's really well put together with some really nice fountains. The big fountain has really pretty lights that make for a great skyline pictures at night. They also built in some cool musical elements for kids. We recently visited for the Charlotte Christmas Market which was very well done. The warm mulled wine is a nice touch and the German shops are really cute. I like that there are some different vendors that you don't find at the other markets. The sausage from 5Church is delicious as well! It's definitely a place you should stop and check out if you're in the area!

Angie Y.

Yelp
I came here during my business trip to experience some fresh air outside of the conference rooms I've been cooped up in for up to 10 hours a day in Fort Mills, Carolina. I went out of my way and drove 25 minutes to this park after reading reviews online and was largely disappointed. Being in the heart of downtown right next to the baseball field, there was no parking, and the actual park was microscopic. It was so barren, I was so confused wondering if I came to the wrong park. Being that is was winter, I could imagine this park looking a lot more decent in the spring/summertime but unless you literally live in this little square, I don't see this being a tourist attraction at all. Do yourself a favor and don't go out of your way to come here. It is tiny, looks over developed, does not have any greenery, and is just a little slab of land that continues to exist around high rise developments.

KimberlyJuicy M.

Yelp
It's a nice park with cool food spots around and nice views only thing is there so much poop from the dogs every where e

Abby L.

Yelp
Nice place to take a walk or hang out after having a dinner, or before a game. The scenery is nice. They did a good job making this park very pleasant. Sometimes (depending on the day/time) there are crazy homeless people buzzing around. I had one bad experience with a belligerent man yelling and screaming at my family and me. I guess that can happen anywhere. Overall I like this park and the events that go on here. Parking is a little hard sometimes, especially with an event.

Esteban V.

Yelp
I enjoyed a beautiful spring day in the park! What a great place to walk and relax while on lunch from work. It is refreshing to have space to unwind from work in the center of uptown Charlotte. Also the views are nice as you overlook the ballpark and see the Queen City skyline.

Jon L.

Yelp
A worthy acknowledgement to a deserving native of Charlotte and a noteworty artist. A fantastic tribute in a great location of 'uptown' Charlotte across from BB&T Ballpark. Nice large green space and a great spot for meeting up for A Knights or Panthers game.

Chris S.

Yelp
As far as inner city parks go, this is as modern as it gets. You can tell a lot of thought went into Romare Bearden, everything from the urban waterfalls to the spacious green short-grass areas that are perfect for picnics and lounging out. A really neat gem to this park is about 15 feet away from the waterfalls, there is a square matrix of pedals in the ground. If you press the pedals the colors change in dynamic ways, it is really cool how this works. The restroom facilities are about on par with what you would expect from a municipal-managed entity, even if groundskeepers are there 24/7 there's always someone who will make a mess at a minute's notice! Take note that this is not your average 'play baseball and soccer' park, and there are a lot of different organizations that use the park on a frequent basis for community events and festivals, so it may be best to check Mecklenburg Parks and Rec site to make sure your planned quiet trip to the park isn't ruined by some weird holiday festival selling fitted bathtubs and hot sauce (yeah, it's happened before!). If you're looking for food nearby, I highly suggest taking a stroll through the Latta Arcade on the other side of Church St. Not only are there options ranging from a deli, pizza, a pub, and even a Pho joint, but it's a safe passage back to Tryon street if you're going that way. Have fun, and stay safe. Keep an eye on your kids, people!

Rosa D.

Yelp
This is right down the street from my job. I like walking here after I eat or sit there to eat and people watch. They've got the little cafe there too for drinks. Sometimes you'll catch people working out there or see people especially kids playing in the water. I was there when they had the 9/11 memorial. They have live music during the summer. It's just a great place to come and hangout. Plenty of benches or bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Cute little public park in Charlotte. Parking can be frustrating and/or expensive, but it's worth a stop. There is a beautiful arch/gazebo area where I can imagine a LOT of photos are taken, a fancy waterfall element that must keep the kids cool on a hot summer day, and an interactive musical section for those who require sensory stimulation. We stopped by for the Christmas market and, while it was very small, had a good mix of vendors and shops available.

Amber K.

Yelp
I can't help but rave about this park! It's smaller then most parks in the area, but it makes up for it's size with so many great attributes. There are so many great events that happen, plus it's just a breath of fresh air between the hustle and bustle of Uptown. Confession: this is the park that made me fall in love with Charlotte. After dark, walk past the fountain and look back towards the city. It holds the most amazing view of the skyline! Absolutely breathtaking.

Ella B.

Yelp
An absolutely beautiful park in the middle of skyscrapers. While the park itself is really gorgeous, another benefit is that it is walking distance to many different restaurants. I recommend going.

Angie P.

Yelp
Beautiful layout & in a good location. Downtown/uptown really needed this addition. It's great for sports enthusiasts because it has the grassy areas, good for runners, walkers & dog walkers. The waterfall part is really nice & the kids really love it! You can also get very scenic views of the Charlotte skyline, as well as the upcoming Charlotte Knights stadium. I look forward to events and entertainment here!

Kristy A.

Yelp
While smaller than most parks in Charlotte, There are lots of events throughout the spring and summer to fill your lazy days. Most of these are musical performances. You'll usually catch some balls being thrown around by intramural groups or families. I suggest bringing a lawn chair as seating is limited.
