The Best Hotels in Naples, Italy

"Best for: art Naples is ‘muse and stage’ to the contemporary art scene that lifelong friends Nicola Cancio and Vincenzo Falcone connect their B&B guests to. They host a permanent artist in residence and in-house shows by names such as Simona da Pozzo and Blasepheme. A few years ago, they transformed this tiled Bourbon apartment opposite the Archeological Museum into a high-minded B&B and modernist haven with Pompeiian mosaic drapes, Hockney-swimming-pool blues, giant light bulbs (for big ideas), and intelligentsia-worthy bistro chairs, some purloined from their parents’ houses. Address: SuperOtium, Via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi civico, 8, 80135 Napoli NA, Italy Book now at Booking.com This article was originally published on Condé Nast Traveller UK." - Zahra Surya Darma, Stephanie Rafanelli

Romeo Hotel

"This ancient Mediterranean beehive, often snubbed by travelers rushing to the Amalfi Coast, is in fact a fascinating and cultured place. Which is why the portside 84-room Romeo celebrates its hometown by incorporating portraits of the city by its most famous photographers. In fact, the art card is played everywhere at the Romeo, from the anodized aluminum and glass fish-scale facade by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange to expressly commissioned art by Italians Francesco Clemente, Lello Esposito, and Mario Schifano. For all of the pedigreed brand names—Caprai sheets, B & B furniture by Tramontano, custom-designed sofas by Philippe Starck—what’s really winning here are the adorable and smartly uniformed staff, and the stunning rooftop pool and spa. Rooms are rich-looking due to their brown- and tan-streaked tabu wood floors, and origami-clever in their efficient use of space, including a sliding glass door between bedroom and bath."

Had an incredible stay at the Romeo Hotel in Naples. The rooms are spacious, modern, and comfortable with beautiful bathrooms and thoughtful touches throughout. The location is a bit urban, but fantastic for walking to the port for your cruise ship or ferry. We dined at their Michelin starred restaurant, every morning for breakfast and it was truly exceptional. The eggs Benedict with the thinnest crispiest bacon was outstanding and the espresso drinks were perfection. Dinner was also an unforgettable experience, with top tier service throughout. Chef Alan is a master. The spa, which is included with the stay, was another highlight. Beautifully designed and so relaxing. Every staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind and welcoming. Cannot wait to come back.

I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Romeo. The staff is consistently friendly and professional, going above and beyond to accommodate us even when we arrived before check-in time. The rooftop bar is fantastic, the food is exceptional, and the pool is nothing short of magnificent.||The restaurant is outstanding. We enjoyed the tasting menu and had two to three servers who were simply excellent—accommodating, sweet, and incredibly attentive. This was my second visit to Hotel Romeo, and I am certain it won't be my last.

This was our second visit to Romeo. We stayed in the standard room - we do tend to agree with another reviewer that the layout of the room isn’t the most functional. It is true that if someone uses the bathroom during the night the light switches itself on and wakes up the other. ||The breakfast is al a carte and everything we had was great. Much prefer the Al a Cart breakfast instead of buffet. ||The waiters working at breakfast are so nice and welcoming, really rate Adolfo (I think that was his name, apologies if I didn’t remember correctly).||The gym is excellent! ||We’ve would stay here again, but perhaps in a bigger room.

Our stay at Hotel Romeo in Naples was absolutely disappointing. The photos on the website are misleading — the room we received looked completely different in reality. The hotel has extremely illogical and non-transparent pricing policies. Rates fluctuate strangely depending on the day of the week and occupancy, without any prior notice or explanation. The staff was unprofessional and constantly made mistakes with our orders. Nothing was understood the first time — we had to repeat everything at least twice. The restaurant staff consistently got at least one item wrong with every order. Hygiene was below any acceptable standard. The room was dusty, toiletries were not replenished, and towels were not replaced regularly. You expect a much higher level of service from a hotel in this category. What was especially concerning is that they lost the copies of our IDs, which they themselves had taken upon check-in — a serious breach of data privacy. On departure, we requested a car with a large trunk due to our heavy luggage, but they sent a small vehicle that barely fit our bags. Overall, our stay was stressful and unpleasant. The hotel does not live up to its high rating and pricing. We would not return and do not recommend it.

One of the best in Naples. Rooms are a bit small for the price. We had one overlooking the harbour but the view on mega cruise liners is not so good. The breakfast is fantastic, the roof terrace splendid and the Ducasse restaurant excellent. Centrally located. Friendly staff.

Google
We had a fantastic stay at the Romeo, for one night, on our way from Napoli to Praiano (via Positano). It was booked on Hilton HHonors points, and I'm more than happy with the value for bed-and-breakfast. It's a great location if getting a ferry - only about a 5 minute walk. It's also a good location for exploring Napoli. The rooms are very modern - some reviews make that a negative, but we thought the tech and the design were outstanding, including the room layout. The top-floor pool was also great, and the bar-service while we had a few hours there was excellent. Breakfast was outstanding, one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had in a while.

I rarely write hotel reviews unless I believe the ratings are unfairly positive or excessively critical. Romeo Napoli deserves accolades for being among the best hotels in Italy. Indeed, the reviews are generally good. However, my wife and I believe the hotel and its excellent staff deserve a few superlatives. From the moment you enter this beautiful modern hotel, you anticipate that the experience will be unique. From the lobby to the restaurants, spa, and common areas, it is well-designed and tantalizes the senses. |The rooms are spacious, inviting, and remarkably comfortable. The mattress is excellent - firm and supportive, yet luxurious. The down pillows and powerful A/C provided my wife and I with the best nights of sleep during our three weeks in Italy.|We are diamond members at Hilton, and we were treated extremely well during our five-night stay in Napoli. |The modern see-through pool on the 10th floor provides wonderful views of the coast and the nearby fort. The service is top-notch. |As diamond members, breakfast is included, but I would have gladly paid for the daily breakfast on the 9th floor. It is simply the best overall breakfast we have encountered - period. The presentation, service, and taste of each of the dishes is fantastic. The hotel utilizes the Michelin-star rated restaurant for breakfast, and the creativity and taste profile come through. Even something basic such as "avocado toast" is creative, delicious, and different from any we have ever had. The portion size is excellent and allows guests to try multiple dishes, all of which are outstanding. It is not hyperbole to say the cappuccino is the best we have had (and in Italy that is saying something). |The view for breakfast is picturesque overlooking the port and Mt. Vesuvius is ever present. |The spa has a broad array of services, but the modern amenities such as an ice bath adjacent to two hot tubs, several therapy pools, wet and dry saunas, and a salt room provide health aficionados ample opportunity to unwind after a day of sight-seeing. |The gym is well-equipped with machines, free weights, and an array of cardio equipment and the facilities are first-rate as we came to expect at the Romeo. |The location of the hotel is perfect - central, but just outside the most crowded touristy areas, but within easy walking distance. And being located on the water provides great views and ambiance. |If you plan a trip to Naples and you are considering an excellent upscale hotel, we can recommend the Romeo more enthusiastically. We are already anticipating our return in the next year or two.

This hotel has a very "modern" design, unfortunately, it makes little sense in terms of functionality. For example, the lights in the bathroom are on a one minute timer, and it's just glass between the bathroom and the bedroom, so if someone uses the restroom in the middle of the night, everybody wakes up. Additionally, the sliding glass door the separates the shower, sink, and toilet is just a sliding glass door. So you can select privacy for one, but not more than 1. The sink is I suppose "modern", but that means its just a flat basin, so when you turn the water on it splashes all over the place. The hot water did not work.||The front desk did offer us another room, but we were just staging for a flight and thus it was already late. We booked the nice hotel trying to guarantee a nice place with nothing to worry about, and it failed to deliver.

Yelp
During our time in Naples, we had the opportunity to stay at Romeo Hotel. They were undergoing some renovations, so the swimming pool was closed. However, we were given complimentary access to the spa for two hours, for which we made an advanced reservation. Upon entering the spa, we were greeted and given a quick tour of the facilities. They had various water baths maintained at different temperatures, sauna and steam rooms, and a Turkish bath--we tried it all. They also had a relaxation lounge with complimentary water and tea. Since we were celebrating our honeymoon, we were upgraded to a room with a beautiful view of the water. We were very impressed with how clean the room was. On the occasion of our anniversary, the hotel also provided complimentary champagne. Everything about the room was perfect. We highly appreciated that the hotel staff went the extra mile to make us feel special. We also really liked the location of this hotel as it was close to all the happening areas. The next day, we had a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. They had a wide range of food options with a buffet service coupled with à la carte breakfast dishes. They offered different types of cheese, breads, and more. I got the avocado toast, and my husband got an omelette. The food was delicious and fresh, and we also tried a couple of Italian snacks, which were delightful. All in all, we had a great time. If you are looking for a nice hotel in Naples, I highly recommend checking out Romeo Hotel.

Yelp
Romeo Naples is a beautiful, modern hotel right by the port. It is upscale with modern art and excellent service. While the port is a bit grimy, this is Naples.

Yelp
Romeo claims to be a 5 star hotel but it is not to the standard of Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental. They just seem to miss the mark. The room design in their "zen suite" is awkward with stairs to exterior that double as a sofa and a bathroom with sliders that make the room small and confined. Wanted to send out postcards and was told to go to the post office as they don't offer that service. Wanted to package and ship some items. It took much explaining and suggesting having their courier provide a box. The gym was huge and had lots of equipment. The spa had too many flat screens of "relaxing" images to actually be relaxing. The bar restaurant had great food. Nice enough but won't be returning. The staff lacks the training to truly be a 5 star hotel. And the WiFi is TERRIBLE... don't even bother connecting to it.

Yelp
Naples is dirty and gritty, but the one jewel during our time there was The Romeo Hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, clean, and very quiet. We enjoyed the rooftop restaurant too.

Yelp
The hotel itself is eclectic and trendy however the hospitality is lack luster to say the least. Our big family checked in at about 8 pm and we were all tired and hungry from a long day of travel . We sat down at the bar restaurant downstairs to have a quick dinner before turning in for the night and we were very disappointed at the lack of not only hospitality but professionalism of the restaurant staff. We sat for over 30 min while three employees were waiting on a table next to us. No one came to check on us , no one took our drink order and we were completely ignored. I spoke with what seemed to be the head server in charge and he said he couldn't take our order or help us until the other table was situated. There were only two parties in the whole restaurant....... The absolute worst service from what is supposed to be a high end hotel. Side note : The water pressure is very weak. All my thick, curly haired people know that this is actually a big deal.

Yelp
I wish I could rate it lower! If you are ever thinking of going to Naples I highly recommend you find somewhere else to stay. My family and I as a group of 10 recently came to Naples before leaving the next day and in only one night this hotel gave us a terrible experience. We flew in on a later flight and decided that it would be easier to eat at the hotel restaurant rather than going out, that was a mistake. Upon being seated we were given our menus and that was the last of the service that was given to us we sat for thirty minutes without a single person coming to greet us, even give us water or even just say they'd serve us soon. While this may make sense if a restaurant is busy there was only our group and one other group in the restaurant which was sat not long before us. There were also multiple servers (3-4) tending to that table while we were ignored and left with nothing. My family and I after waiting for fifteen minutes even asked if we can order drinks and we were only told they'd be with us soon before waiting for another fifteen minutes. At this point the group next to us not only had water but were also given wine and had their orders taken. There was also a group of two that sat after us and had gotten drinks as well. As it was getting late and we didn't want to walk a family of ten around the city at night, due to the fact that the area where the hotel is was slightly dodgy. we waited another fifteen minutes. At this point we directly asked a server if we were going to have our orders taken and we were given a response that showed they didn't care or intend to serve us with any urgency. We were told that the were only serving one table at a time despite the restaurant being empty and there being multiple servers. Furthermore we asked if we should leave or if they'd be able to serve us soon and were told it was up to us. They didn't offer to bring us water or ask us for drinks or even give and real service at all. This lack of service and hospitality made both my family and I to believe it was due to us being American as the other customers that were being served were not. We even went to the front desk to complain about the matter and they didn't offer any help or seem to care much about the problem. Ultimately we left and at this point it was 10pm and the entire family was tired, hungry, and the 5 young kids were complaining and being restless. I expected much better service especially considering the prices for the food at the hotel were insane asking for 33 dollars for a ham and cheese sandwich. We ended up eating at Castel Nuevo which was a short walk from the hotel with much better food, prices, and the service was absolutely incredibly. I highly recommend you save your time and your money and eat there if you do choose to be stuck in that hotel. I really can say this enough but choose a different place this hotel was also in a rough location compared to other places in Naples and you can find much better for much cheaper. Overall this was an uncomfortable experience, and I felt obligated to leave a review.

Yelp
Romeo hotel was truly one of my favorite hotels during my stay in Italy and we stayed all across the Amalfi coast. The service was great, unlike most places in Italy, the workers were very welcoming. I think the best part of this hotel were the amenities! The spa is included in your stay, it was nice and relaxing. And as a former body builder, their gym was a dream! It was huge and the equipment was way nicer than most gyms out here in California. They had 4 separate rooms, including a cardio room and a body fat analyzer! Last but not least, their restaurant was amazing. Their breakfasts were one of favorites for sure, we also had dinner there one night and it was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel in Naples!

Yelp
0 stars if I could. Highly recommend you find somewhere else to stay, especially if you are an American. We traveled as a family of 10 and overall the rooms were nice. Despite this, our experience at the restaurant made us never want to return. After a later flight we got settled and headed down to eat dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. We sat down and were shortly brought menus, but that is where the service ended. 30 minutes and we did not receive water, a greeting, or even a "we will be right with you". In the restaurant there was one other large party, and a table of 2. That is all. With multiple (3-4) staff members walking around us and staring at us, we were never acknowledged in any way. After about 15 minutes we asked if we could order drinks, the waiter simply nodded his head and then never returned. At this point the table of 2 (who got their after us) had already received their drinks. We waited another 15 minutes before asking the employees (who were staring directly at us) if we were going to be able to order. The response we got seemed nothing short of ridiculous. They claimed that they could not take our order until the other table was completely finished (mind you they were not even eating yet) and there is nothing that could be done. Nothing could be done? You can't even bring us water or a drink while we wait to order? The lack of hospitality only towards us made us extremely uncomfortable and angry. The only conclusion we could think of was because we were American, while all the other customers were not. When we complained for the final time, they simply did not care. At this point it was 10pm and we were extremely hungry, tired and had 5 kids to feed. Not to mention $33 for a hotdog is ridiculous, especially if good service is not coming with it. Save your time and money and go eat at Castel Nuovo 5 minutes down the road; the had many food options, it was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Can't express enough that you should avoid this hotel, it's in bad location as well.

Yelp
I loved this hotel. Our room was nice, the bed was super comfy, the employees were all so great and accommodating. Upstairs the restaurant (The Beluga Bar) is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the view of Mt. Vesuvius was so gorgeous. I'd definitely recommend. There's also a spa located downstairs with a salt room, jacuzzis, a sauna and optional massages.

Yelp
Checked in. Room was decent. Threw our bags down, turned on the AC and went to the roof to have a drink. Rooftop bar was decent. Came back to the room - no A/C. Called the front desk only to find out "yeah, the A/C isn't working ..." UH DUDES YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT AT CHECK IN ...!?! Checked out and moved on to Sorrento - it's way better here.

Yelp
Don't let the pretty pictures fool you, most of the amenities aren't available and the hotel isn't comfortable. When I checked in I had to wait around a bit because there was only one person working at the front desk. A different person showed me up to my room with a paper in English that mentioned specific hours for breakfast and the gym but not the pool or spa, which you had to reserve in advance. When I tried to reserve in the evening they said both were closed, which was a huge bummer because it's really the only reason I booked this hotel in the first place. The room itself was nice but the bed was not comfortable (very firm) and the shower took way too long for hot water. I paid for breakfast but when I arrived to the totally empty restaurant with food just sitting there they tried to tell me my breakfast wasn't included. At that point, I had had it with this hotel and left writing this review. Stay somewhere else that isn't just pretty pictures would be my recommendation.

Yelp
Omg! What a treat. Wish we had more time here just to stay in the hotel. Wonderful service. Very comfortable accommodations. The spa in the lower level was relaxing. My husband used the workout room. The bed was so nice and the pillows were amazing! We had a view of the harbor. Woke up to sunrise behind Mt Vesuvius. Highly recommend.

Yelp
After the first few hours at the Romeo Hotel, it was clear that I would never stay here again. For a hotel that boasts its five star rating the waitstaff was unkind and slow and there are hidden costs everywhere. For 20€ I received a half full cocktail that was mostly ice and took 35 minutes to prepare. For another 20€ I spent half an hour at the sky bar pool where I was unable to find a lounge chair and had to sit at a bar above the pool. Had I know about either of these things in advance, I would have just stayed in my room to drink the bottle of complimentary water. After I had already served myself breakfast, a waitress approached me to say that I would be charged 32€ for my half plate of subpar eggs and it would be an additional 15€ to access the fruit because it was a part of the separate "European breakfast." My family spent a total of 24 hours at the Romeo Hotel and had it not been for the comfortable beds, it would have been 24 too many.

Yelp
Recently spent two nights at the stylishly designed Romeo hotel. The good things: Gym equipment (hours are less than as it only opens at 09:00 which is quite late for me) Room design - modern Hotel location - good access to ferry to Capri. Also the view over the harbour from the breakfast restaurant The not so good: The service from hotel staff is not five star hotel worthy. It took a long time to have issues addressed. Air conditioning was inadequate in this warm climate. Motion triggered lights in bathroom area go off when you are in shower so I had to keep opening the shower door to trigger it. Bottom line is I would not stay here the next time I visit Naples.

Yelp
Worst experience I have ever had. Very very hot, no power, and back up generator lights are like spot lights in our room making it impossible to sleep at 3:30 am. We were told by concierge there is nothing he can do to turn them off.

Yelp
Finally! A fresh modern hotel in Europe. Parking valet service has an easy access driveway. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar were pleasant. Don't skip the poached eggs breakfast. The rooms were quiet (compared to the normal noise if the stay in the center of Naples). It reminded me of a Westin or W hotel. From now on, this is where I stay when I'm in Naples.

Yelp
I chose Romeo Hotel as a special treat for a very special occasion. Unfortunately we had a very poor experience and I would really like to share it with you. I feel it is important to make you aware of the very unfortunate experience and prevent you from going through the same nightmare we did. Don't expect your room to be ready if you check-in before 2 pm, they will let you go to your room even though it's not completely ready. If you complain - they will have a stupid excuse for completely everything. In this case - they said: "we have time until 2 pm to finish the room" and pulled the face screaming "piss off"! There is completely no point to waste your time complaining in Romeo Hotel! Even though they don't provide everything from the packages they offer, they will always find a stupid excuse to defend themselves. Never apologising for a single inconvenience caused. We booked the HONEYMOON PACKAGE, which offers: "a sweet surprise in the room on arrival", but when we arrived there was NOTHING special, just an ordinary room with no "surprises". Never got anything until we went to the reception desk and specifically asked for it. The view from the room was facing the building premises and car park of the port, not exactly a Deluxe Sea Side view mentioned in the "luxury accommodation" for 259 euros for 1 night. In the evening we went to the Romeo Sushi Bar & Restaurant to have our Very Special Dinner with my partner, but the whole celebration was completely ruined because of the VERY BAD service in the restaurant! When we sat down we had to wait for the menus for over 10 minutes! When the waitress brought the drink list, we asked for the food menu, which took another 15 (!!!) minutes and asking 2 other members of staff. The whole service was ridiculously slow, it took them over 20 min to take our order. Basically, everything took soooo long to wait, we received our first drink almost 40 min later after we sat down! Our wine wasn't topped up until we asked. We had to leave our bottle of Rose wine on the table instead of the ice bucket, so we can top up the empty glasses ourselves! Both my partner and I were really annoyed with the lack of attention, we had to wave for attention for really long time until someone realised we have finished and want the bill. The following morning when we supposed to receive our "IN LOVE" breakfast in the room, there was no "strawberries with chocolate and whipped cream", neither "two glasses of sparkling wine" as a part of the Honeymoon Package! We had to go to the reception desk and ask for the missing stuff yet again! It was embarrassing, but instead of apologies all we heard was: Strawberries are not in the season and we were not sure if you consume alcohol for breakfast. At the check out we were given endless amount of excuses and not a single apology. After sending a complaint letter to the Hotel Management we received a very poor email with ironic reply to our feedback. Would never ever come back and would never advice anyone to stay there either.

Yelp
Incredible building and architecture- best we have ever experienced in an urban setting. Room was stylish and functional in every respect- loved the internally-lit fracked-glass night stands and countertop. Bathroom stunning! Sink- where does the water flow? Haha. One thing- paying extra for front-of-building made no sense as we were on a low floor. Just go up to 9th or 10th floor restaurants for a great harbor view and watch the sun set on the cruise ships.
